I was contacted last night by Andrew who had lost his gold signet ring whilst mucking about with his mates on a riverbank , arranged to meet this afternoon, and after a stroll through water meadows we arrived at the riverbank the ring was lost on , my Equinox 800 soon hit on a steady repeatable 17 , a quick fingertip search and there was Andrews lost signet ring , who was amazed at the speedy recovery, as he was pretty certain the ring had come off in the water after been dragged into the river by his mates .
Another ring reunited with its grateful owner thanks to the ring finders website.

I woke up this morning around 6 AM and checked my emails, there was one email that was sent at 12:51 AM.
Here’s what it said…
Hi Chris,
I lost my engagement ring in a park near Sexsmith Community school today. I have a vague idea of the perimeter where the ring might have been dropped but have not been able to find the ring tonight. Your help will be precious. Please let me know if you can help.
Thank you very much,

I sent an email asking them to call me ASAP to discuss the search, I didn’t hear back as soon as I thought I would, my first thought was most likely they were going to rent a metal detector and tried to search for the ring themselves. This happens a lot and it makes me sad to think that some people may search and not find their ring and totally give up. This was not the case, I received a phone call around 12:15 PM asking if I could come and look for the ring. He also told me that he rented a Metal Detector but could not find the ring.
I met Matt at the park and started asking some questions, I had Matt cone off the areas he wanted me to search, it was a warm and dry day and hard to see the grid lines I make on the grass. After one hour Matt’s fiancé Anne showed up at the park to wish me luck. We talked a bit and I assured her that if the ring was there, I would find it. I decided to go back into my north-south grid and do an east-west direction and use a different detector. This was a good move as I found the ring, it took a total of 2 hours and I was so happy! While I was taken pictures to text to Matt he drove up and saw me taking pictures, as he was walking towards me I started telling him I might have to come back tomorrow as the grass was to dry to see my grid lines…Then as we were discussing the details of the next days’ search I held up the ring to Matt and got his great reaction…
Matt went home to bring his wife to the park so that I could get a smile for the Book of Smiles…

I received a call from Jacob this evening requesting my service to locate his wife’s rose gold wedding band which she lost in their back yard on Saturday morning.
An hour later, I meet Jacob and his wife Abi at their home. Abi explained that she was doing Yoga exercises on her patio and had removed her ring and placed the ring on her Yoga mat. When she was finished she picked the mat up, shook the mat towards her lawn, rolled the mat up and then went into the house.
About ten minutes later Abi realized what she had done and quickly went out to search for her ring with no luck. Jacob then rented a metal detector and told me that he did not understand how to operate it, and had spent a few hours searching but had been unable to find the ring.
I searched their lawn for an hour with no luck, then I asked Abi to get her mat out and show me exactly what she had done. We used a test ring and noticed that the tester ring rolled backwards and ended on the other side of her patio into the grass and not the direction they thought the ring flew. I found the ring just off the concrete patio which made the ring very difficult to locate with all the rebar to the untrained ear that’s why Jacob was unable to find the ring with all the different ring tones his detector produced.
Jacob and Abi were so relived that the ring was found and back on her finger.
Thank you Jacob and Abi for entrusting me to locate your wedding band.
Ken emailed me last evening requesting my service to locate his ring which he had lost a week ago at a pickleball court. I emailed him back to have him call me to get more information on his loss.
Ken told me the ring was handed down to him by his mother and had been his father’s ring. As it was very sentimental to him, Ken spent hours looking for the ring with no luck and had even put a poster up along the court hoping that someone would find it.
Six days had passed and it had still not been found. A friends wife suggested that he contact me through the Ring Finders website.
She told him if someone could find the ring it would be Norm. At first Ken was reluctant to call but a day later decided that he had nothing to lose. Ken contacted me and we agreed to meet at 4:00 pm today at the court.
At the pickleball court Ken explained to me that once they came off the court, there was a table set up with hand sanitizer. The sanitizer was very oily and he had walked onto a patch of grass while rubbing his hands together. This is the area he thought his ring had fallen off, he searched for it and even had the maintenance man cut the grass with no ring in sight.
With all the players at the court that day and all the gatherings around the table Ken’s ring had been stepped on which made it impossible to see with a naked eye. It took me less than three minute to have Ken’s ring back on his finger.
Thank you Ken for entrusting me to find your late fathers ring.
Received a call regarding a men’s gold band that “flung” off while shaking out a blanket on the beach. The client explained that he and his wife were in town celebrating their one year anniversary. Took a short ride over and met up with client, his ring was recovered several minutes later.
Received a call yesterday late morning about a lost wedding ring set. Jess explained that she had taken her ring, which was actually three rings fused together, off and placed it in her wallet which was then placed in her beach bag. At some point during the day she thought one of her kids may have knocked it out of the purse while looking for money for the ice cream man, but neither she or her kids were sure. She had already returned home to PA before realizing that the ring was missing. Jess was able to provide some location details and given the time of day she called and it’s possible location I thought it would be best to try for it after the crowds had cleared. Took a ride over later in the afternoon and recovered the platinum diamond ring in about 20 minutes.
Comments from Jess: « I can not explain my emotions after coming home and realizing that my wedding ring was gone. I kept trying to trace every step and thing I did and just kept searching thinking it would appear. I don’t like to wear my ring on the beach because it gets so dirty but this has been a big lesson for sure. I literally was so sick in my stomach all day yesterday and honestly thought it was gone for good as the chances of finding it were so slim. Thank goodness I found Jeff and his team. He was professional, asked the right questions, and got the job done! He was incredible and I could never thank him enough! »
I received a call from Jean – Francois last Tuesday 16th June , his large Gold wedding band had slipped off his finger whist swimming in the sea at Hove , the previous evening .
I arranged to meet JF on the beach the following day , when the tide was low , JF was able to locate the approximate area of beach and a short while later my Equinox 800 hit on a target , which had a steady reading of 16 , a couple of scoops later and a JF was reunited with his large Gold wedding band , the look of happiness on his face said it all , it’s moments like this that makes our hobby so rewarding .
Late Friday night, practicing a few shots in preparation for a Father’s day volleyball game, this pictured young man’s gold chain came off as he hit the sand in a defensive move to no avail.
Completely bewildered as to what to do, he knew he needed to find it as it was a gift from his father last Christmas.
We agreed to meet today and search the area where he thought he was. Not knowing how thin the chain was I elected to use my treasure hunting club’s Garrett AT gold metal detector, as this machine is very sensitive to thin/small gold items. When I got on site I noticed the sand was unusually deep, much deeper than I had experienced before. I chose to grid search using disc 1 setting adjusting for no disc and close to all metal.
I found it nice how clean the sand was as I got no junk signals at all. After about 10 mins the AT gold got a nice signal in the gold range on the meter. Scooping out about 5 inches of sand produced this stunning rope gold chain! A look of relief was in his eyes as he came over to pull it from it’s hiding place, and shocked that it flew further than was thought. Now on Sunday his father will see him wearing it proudly despite his volleyball skills!

I received a call from a gentleman who said his wife had lost her engagement ring. I went to their rental home in Corolla, NC. He explained that his wife had lost her platinum diamond engagement ring but she wasn’t sure where or for how long it had been missing.
He walked with me from where they were staying; down the street, on a two block walkway, on an elevated stair over the dunes and down onto Corolla beach in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He showed my were his items are on the beach and wear they had been on a previous day. (which was now occupied by another family)
I told the gentleman that this search could take hours and we may not find the ring because they weren’t certain when and where they lost it. (They had even removed p-traps in the house looking for it). I had my grandson Andrew with me because he was visiting from the Virginia Beach area. He had to be back to my house in 1 hours so he and his mom could leave.
We walked back to the house and I told him that I would let him know of any developments. I decided to concentrate on the beach area as I began the search. I used my Minelab Equinox 800 and Andrew used my pinpointer. I began a grid search in the area where his chairs and umbrella was today. It was a trash-target-rich environment.
After about 20 minute of searching the first chair area, I decided to look on the beach path between where the family had been on the previous day and where they were today. Before long, I got a strong hit just beneath the surface. I dug a small scoop and asked Andrew to use the pinpointer on it. As he moved the sand around…….BAM! I saw the shimmer of a diamond in the sand!!!
My grandson got the ring and held it up as I took a picture. I texted a picture to the owners and immediately got a call. The were ecstatic! They said they couldn’t believe that I found it so quickly; and frankly neither could I.
We walked back to the house were we were met by the happy couple and other families staying at the beach vacation rental. We gave them the husband his wife’s ring and he gave it his bride! What a wonderful experience to make this family so happy and what a lesson for a 6 year-old!

Right place, right time, I bet this has happened to many of you over the years!
I went to Ambleside Beach early in the morning to do some metal detecting on the dry sand, shortly after starting my day I was approached by a young lady (Denise) who asked if my metal detector could find a diamond pendant. I said yes it can, then I started asking Denise if she knew the approximate location where she believed she lost it, she told me she knew pretty much exactly where she lost it.
After talking for a little bit and walking to the location a few hundred yards down the beach, I came to learn that this diamond pendant was a gift to herself and has a lot of sentimental value surrounding it… Her daughter bought her the matching diamond ring for Christmas, what a beautiful surprise!
Denise told me she drove all the way from Pemberton which is about a 3 1/2 hour drive to come back and look for it. She was at the beach the day before visiting when she lost her pendant, she drove home then came back with her friend to look for it the next day, she was smart enough to make a rock shrine/pile so that she could come back and find the spot the next day. (Great Thinking)
While she was looking for her pendent a city worker saw her and told her there was a guy with a metal detector at the far end of the beach that might be able to help her…Me
Denise showed me the rock shrine and told me to search a few feet in front and to the right, after a few minutes and no luck, I had a few more questions, I started to search the rock shrine/Pile where I got a good signal and bingo!
Denise was so good at marking the area where the pendent was lost she almost buried it under the rock pile. What a beautiful pendant I was so happy to be able to find it for her.
