Man’s Yellow Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Surf, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

I got a call just after 3 p.m. today from Nate asking if I could help find his wedding ring. I had just finished up my yard work, so I was hot, sweaty and dirty. I agreed to be there in about 20 minutes and apologized for what my appearance would be. I asked him about what time he lost it and if he was in the water. He said he lost it about 1:15 or so and they were in ankle deep. Great news because we were in an outgoing tide, so by the time I got there, the ring should be buried in the wet sand.

When I got to the hotel, I met Nate in the parking garage. We walked out to the area he lost his ring. He explained that he was playing catch with a football and his ring slipped off his finger. The good part was he’s right-handed, so the ring didn’t get thrown off. He showed me the area; I confirmed the type of ring and went to work on my grid search. I didn’t get too far and as I made my turn, I asked him if I had gone far enough on that grid line. He had me extend my line by a few feet and when I took a couple more steps, I got a solid 13 on my detector. A small man’s gold ring can ring up at 13, but so does a pull tab and a nickel. This particular target was a nickel, so I kept going. A foot away I got a signal reading 20-21, 95% of the time this will be a penny. Thinking it was a penny and that I had come across a coin drop of numerous coins, I didn’t dig it up. Mistake!!! After gridding a couple more lines and thinking about the “Penny”, I asked Nate about the size of his ring. In my experience a man’s thick heavy gold ring could ring up in the high teens. Just so there was no doubt in my mind, I went back to the signal and took a scoop of sand. As I pulled the scoop out of the hole, I saw the shimmer of yellow gold in the sand on the side of the hole. I don’t know if Nate saw it, but I reached down and pulled the ring out of the sand. Nate, with no hesitation confirmed it was his ring. This was a lesson learned for me. Nate was so relieved he had his beautiful wedding band back where it belonged.

I was just leaving the beach when I got a call from a good friend.  He had a recovery that he couldn’t do because he was traveling.  I pulled over and ask God to help me find the item.  Minutes later, I got a call from Bill.  He said his son, Tanner, had lost a silver Spanish coin pendant while wrestling with a friend in the surf.

I met Bill and his wife Renee about 15 minutes later at the scene of the crime.  We prayed on the beach to find the missing treasure.  Another detectorist, who just happened to be there, and I made pass after pass in the incoming water. (That I was not set up or dressed for).  After some time of fighting the water, we decided to let the incoming tide pass and come back a few hours before low tide.

When I arrived, I knelt and prayed.  The conditions were much better, and I was set up for a water search if need be.  I fired up the Minelab Manticore and began gridding while Bill used a Nakta Triple Score.  The entire family came with Bill this time, so I asked Tanner a barrage of questions about the location he lost it.  He was quite sure about the place where it fell, so I decided to grid perpendicular to my first search, in the same area.

A little more that half-way through the grid I got a great hit and I suspected it was the pendant.  I dug three scoops and the shiny silver coin revealed itself.  Praise the Lord!

Recently, I received a late-night text from Hannah in Ventura, desperate to find her husband’s gold wedding ring lost at Marina Park Beach. While digging for sand crabs with their kids near the wet sand at high tide, her husband realized his ring was gone. The incoming waves erased all traces of their digging, leaving little hope of recovery.
Hannah posted on Facebook for help, and a friend recommended a metal detecting professional. Another shared my website, DaveTheRingFinder, and she reached out immediately. Based on the tides, I had one shot at an early low tide the next morning. Arriving at Marina Park Beach in the dark, I gridded the area with my Minelab Manticore. The beach’s bowl-like shape and recent high tide had buried everything deep under sand from the dunes, making it tough to detect anything.
Near the rocks, I finally picked up a faint signal. After digging 15 inches with my CKG Titanium scoop, I uncovered a massive gold wedding band—a solid 45 on my detector, buried so deep a smaller ring might’ve been missed. I texted Hannah and dropped the ring off at her Ventura home, where she was thrilled and grateful. Another successful recovery!

Lost White Gold Ring w/Diamonds Found in Elizabeth Park, Trenton Michigan

Slippery Slope…..

…..Only a month into their engagement, Billy and his fiancée wanted to take a few pictures in beautiful Elizabeth Park. The park boasts of gorgeous scenery and picturesque bridges spanning small water channel off the Detroit River. The park also was a spot for a few war of 1812 skirmishes and has been quite attractive to relic hunters over the years. Arriving at the park they were welcomed by a brief rainstorm. After parking, as they descended a grass slope towards a bridge, she slipped on the grass and tumbled to the bottom. Regaining composure, they made it to the bridge. After a few pics they came back towards the car on a flatter route. At the car she discovered her ring missing. Being familiar with the park I knew where the young couple had this mishap. Using my MXT metal detector I started halfway between the slope and bridge. Grid searching carefully as I got near the bridge, I got a great signal. Reaching down with my hand-held pin pointer revealed her ring! I shouted out to Billy who was about 100 feet away still combing the slope. He ran towards me and was amazed that the ring was there! Billy agreed that the recovery helps sets the stage for their marriage being able to handle any type of terrain.

Don found me on the Ring Finders . Com directory after he had unsuccessfully recovered his gold pocket watch he lost. He remembers winding up the spring, putting it in his pant pocket then going out and mowing like he has done many times before. When he got back inside and looked to see what time it was…..well it was time to go look for his watch. He looked through the many nooks and crannies of the mower with no success. He then took his metal detector and searched many times for it. We talked about the details and then we started the search. Of course I put a new set of eyes on the mower as the first and final step. It was our honor to get this life long keepsake back to him.

Lost Cartier ring at the beach found with metal detector

This couple just lost their new Cartier ring in the ocean a few hours before they called me (305-608-1870).  I was able to meet them up and go out and look for it.  They lost it about 100 feet out from the shore and waist high water.  This ring took me an about an hour to recover.   They did a good job of remembering how far out and how far over from their belongings on shore of where they lost it.

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Lanikai Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Avery who was on vacation from Orange County, California and enjoying the day at Lanikai Beach.  So her mom Julia had taken off her rings to apply sunscreen on her and her sister Kindle.  When she finished and moved to another area on the beach they must have fallen out of her dress.  I told them I would pack my gear and head over but they had already left the beach.  They turned around and decided they would wait at the beach for me so they could show the area to hunt.  Lanikai is quite an extensive beach.  When I arrived I was blessed to get the first spot near the beach access as a car was leaving.  That never happens!  Since losing the ring earlier in the day the tide had come up and the area was now wet but the surf was calm.  Julia drew a box in the sand and I started a grid search.  No ring.  She called Kindle & Avery over and they thought I should be hunting more to the North.  I started way farther down the beach and worked my way back.  Found a brand new nickel which I thought would be the ring.  Then finally in wet sand I got a nice #7 on the Manticore.  In one scoop there was Julia’s stunning ring in the scoop with a huge diamond glistening in the sunlight.  She was obviously overwhelmed,  I think she was holding back tears.  There were two more rings in this loss but an expanding grid search they never came up.  I went all the way to the waters edge and low tide mark but no luck.  We guess those may have been eyeballed by someone earlier in the day as Julia and her girls went to a different area of the beach before they realized the rings were gone.  They are platinum with diamonds around one of them if someone can come forward with them that would be awesome.  Julia was obviously pleased to have her diamond ring back on her finger.  Aloha to Julia, Avery & Kindle!

Sonny called me after dark having lost a precious heirloom pendant while playing volleyball at Mother’s Beach in Marina Del Rey. I was available, and let him know I would get there as soon as I could to help him find his lost keepsake.

I arrived a little early, and phoned Sonny to let him know I was there. He saw me in the parking lot, and let me know where he was. I got with him and asked what had happened, and the area of the possible loss. I then got my equipment ready, and began my search. I searched the side of the court he had been playing in first with no luck. I then went to the other side, and halfway into the first pass, a very strong signal rang in my head phones. I dug, and as I was shaking out my scoop, Sonny could hear the clanging of the large pendant, and exclaimed that’s it, he found it. As can be seen in the photo, he is very happy to have back something that means something special to the family.

Lost Ring Found from an Ant-Infested Garden Hamilton

Late Monday evening, we received a heartfelt text message from Jenny in Hamilton, Ontario. She had been gardening that evening when a bunch of ants forced her to quickly rip off her gloves. In the chaos, she hadn’t noticed right away but later realized her beloved engagement ring was missing.

Jenny’s message was filled with urgency and emotion. The ring wasn’t just a piece of jewelry, it was a deeply sentimental item, representing years of memories and love. Despite searching the area thoroughly, she hadn’t been able to find it. The backyard grass hadn’t been cut, and that made the search even more challenging.

We packed our gear and headed out with our detectors. Within about 30 minutes of careful scanning through the uneven ground and thick blades of grass, the detector gave off a promising signal. Moments later, we saw a glint just below the surface. There it was, her engagement ring, perfectly intact and just slightly buried in the grass.
