I got a call from a lady who said her husband had lost his wedding ring while at the beach earlier that day. It was now dark, but knowing that beach, and how it is cleaned by machines daily, I knew I had to go right away to insure the greatest possibility of a recovery.

She gave me directions, and also sent me pictures from their time there to show me where to look. When I got there, I was able to line up on a couple of landmarks, and find where to begin. I began my grid in the darkness, making pass after pass finding a few pieces of trash metal. I made sure to work out of the box a bit in order to cover more ground just in case. I went over all the area she told me about, then began to work more toward the water. After about 6 more passes, and almost at the top of the slope, I got a real nice sound in the head phones. I dug, and had the ring. I sent a picture, and she confirmed it was the ring. She then asked if I could drive it to their home about 20 miles away through the Santa Monica Mountains which I agreed to do. When I got to the house she was not there, but her father was able to receive the ring, but did not want his picture taken, so you get me. Anyway, a great recovery, and return.

Yesterday, I got a call from Britany, who was in a panic. Her husband had lost his wedding ring during the Northern LA Boardriders October surf event at Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu. He’d stashed the ring inside his wetsuit for safekeeping while competing in the surf. After his set, he peeled off the suit on the beach, and the ring slipped out, disappearing into the dry sand. They knew the rough spot near the shore, so Britany reached out to me—the go-to metal detection expert for finding lost rings in Malibu’s sand and surf.
I headed to Leo Carrillo State Beach, just off Malibu’s stunning coastline, and met them in the sandy area where the ring went missing. With my Minelab detector, I swept the spot, and within a couple of minutes, I got a solid hit. A quick scoop in the dry sand revealed the wedding ring—safe and sound! I handed it back to Britany’s husband, and the day at Leo Carrillo was saved. Finding lost rings in the sand is my specialty, but I’m just as skilled at recovering jewelry from the surf, gardens, yards, or grassy areas around Malibu.
Whether you’ve lost a ring in the surf at Leo Carrillo, a necklace in a Malibu garden, a pendant in the sand at Zuma, or a bracelet in a grassy yard, I’m here to help. Surfer Hides Car Keys in Sand .. Then Can’t Find Keys .. Huntington Beach, CA .. Found with Metal Detector

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

I was on the beach practicing with a new detector that I purchased for finding small metallic items. A nice day on the beach except for Josh who came running up to me with a distressed look on his face. I asked him, what did you lose. He replied, my only set of car keys.
He had buried his keys under his towel while he went surfing. When we walked a couple blocks back to where his towel was, his friends had dug down throwing sand in piles everywhere. I did a quick search of the piles then a little higher on the slope. One foot above where they searched by hand I got a strong signal scooping up his keys. We think the towel may have been moved by someone or the wind.
The main thing was Josh was a happy surfer who didn’t have to call a tow truck or locksmith to help him get home. I’m pleased to be able to help him with a little bit of my time and my experience of using my metal detector on the beach. I had the opportunity to tell Josh about TheRingFinders.com asking him to share with his friends and social media.. More people need to know that this service exists. I love being able to help people.
