While visiting some friends on the 4th of July 2013, Jim and Molly were enjoying a lively game of volleyball in the pool when Molly realized her diamond engagement ring was not on her finger. For the next hour they searched frantically for the ring without success. As the light faded into night so did their hopes of finding her precious ring. That evening Jim was looking on his computer for information on finding lost rings and came across theringfinders web site. The next day Jim called me and we set up a time to meet and do a thorough search of the pool and surrounding area. I set up my Whites DFX metal detector and started searching the small grassy areas and around the many bushes and shrubs. After an hour or so I was beginning to think that it possibly flew over the fence and landed in the neighbors yard. I was finishing up along the wooden fence behind some rose bushes when I caught a glimpse of gold and sure enough there it was. Peeking up through the leaves at the base of the fence–a good 30 feet from where Molly was in the pool–was her beautiful ring, just waiting to be found! What a thrill and pleasure it was to serve you and help make your best 5th of July ever!!
Maybe you have lost something recently! Give me a call!
Tatiana saw my Craig’s list ad for metal detecting service and called me to help her find a lost set of keys at the enterance to Tecolote Canyon. She lost the keys in an area with some ice plant, both dead and alive, and unfortunately, some poison oak too! I don’t think I got any on me but I was hunting in it a bit before I noticed those rusty colored tridents among the other follage. It’s absolutely amazing how a fairly large set of keys can hide in plain sight. The search area was relatively small and we knew they were there so it was just a matter of time but I went over that same area 4 times without finding them but they practially jumped into my hand on the 5 pass. It’s strange how that works sometimes. Got a big hit, looked down, and they’re sitting there in plain site! Tatiana was happy to be able to drive her car home and not have to call AAA and then pay through the nose to get replacement keys made. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward. It keeps me able to help others.
Monday morning I received a call from Andrew who asked me if I could help him find his wedding ring. Apparently while digging for shells in the shallows of the intercoastal water way he realized his ring was no longer on his finger where it had been for the last 5 years! Andrew purchased a new metal detector and spent a fair amount of time looking for his ring but only found a few sinkers and soda cans. So he began searching on the computer for information on how to find a lost ring and he came across www.theringfinders.com !
I agreed to meet Andrew Monday evening at 5 o’clock and as we talked and looked the area over I felt fairly confident his ring could be found. I spent the next two and a half hours grid searching in the water and came up with a handful of lead sinkers and an assortment of coins and junk. Then I got a great signal and there in my scoop was a nice hefty man’s gold ring! I hollered to Andrew and held the ring up in the air for him to see. I was sort of surprised to see a perplexed look on his face and as he came closer he said, « That’s not my ring. » As the sun went down I ended my search and reassured Andrew that I would be back later on in the week to look again.
The following Friday I returned and this time I arrived two hours before low tide and set up 4 PVC poles in the shallow water slightly overlapping the area I had previously searched. I was prepared to search until dark if needed and as I turned on my Dual Field and waded into the water the very first signal turned out to be another gold wedding band! Only this was Andrew’s ring and as soon as he saw it he said, « That’s it!! »
Thanks so much Andrew for your generous reward and for contacting me to help you!
Monday afternoon I received a call from Joe asking if I could possibly help him find his ring. On Saturday he and his new bride of only 8 days, were swimming in the ocean when he felt his wedding ring slip off his finger and into the churning water! He tried looking for his ring but the waves and surf were not co-operating and he soon gave up hope. Two days later he found the ringfinders.com and gave me a call. After hearing the details of how he lost it and the time of day I assured Joe that the chances of finding his ring were very good!
About an hour into the grid search my Dual Field detector gave off a nice clear signal and out popped Joe’s ring! Joe was super thrilled to have his ring back and I was thanking God for another exciting and successful ring search!
Have you lost something valuable recently or not so recently?!!
Call me and let’s talk—there still may be hope!
I too really love my job!

Joe writes: Mike is an absolute saint! Lost my ring the first day of my honeymoon and I found Mike on Google!! He spent a long time searching and surprised me with the ring! He’s a great guy and does a respectable thing! Thank you Mike!
I received a call from a guy that he just lost his Tungsten Wedding Ring a couple of hours ago. He lost the ring as he was swatting at a bee. On his downward swing the ring fell off into the grass and trees. I showed up and started searching in the grass, then around the trees and bushes with no luck. I continue searching, as I was looking deeper into the pine tree there was the ring. After looking on how the ring came to its resting place. I came up with that the ring had to leave his hand then hit the concrete porch floor then bounce off the side of the house then go through about twenty feet of grass then another three feet into the pine tree. He was happy that the ring was found.
Hello Everyone, we got an email from a mom in a panic. She had hired a professional photographer to take Senior Pictures of her 2 graduating Senior High kids. The photographer took them to Cedar Hill State Park where the Bluebonnet flowers are awesome this time of year. The photographer had them doing all kinds of poses. The mom, Donna, saw her son turn around quickly and she said « What’s wrong », he said, ‘my ring came off’.
Seven people looked for the ring for 2 hours with no luck. Donna found « theringfinders » website and contacted us. We met her at the park on Wednesday. Understand it is against the law to Metal Detect inside a State Park. We contacted the Ranger’s office multiple times before receiving permission to only scan, not dig at all for the lost ring. Donna walked us through the woods before getting to the Bluebonnet fields. We gridded off a 30 x 30 ft area and began to scan. It took about 20 minutes before I got a non-trash signal and when I bent down I saw the glint of a ring deep in the Bluebonnets.
I picked it up and said my favorite line, « Donna, I have a question for you, would you like to have this back? »and held up the ring. She was so excited, she thanked us and thanked us. The ring cost over $500 and her son had only had it a short time.
Another successful hunt for
The Dallas Ring Finders
On Sunday afternoon we got a call from a gentleman who had lost his wedding ring. He had been working all day in his yard digging a trench to relieve some standing water. After completing the several hour project he realized his wedding ring was gone. He and his family search for 2 hours and had no luck. He found « The Ring Finders » website and gave us a call. We spent about 20 minutes covering the area which was crazy with signals due to a power line running under his backyard. I decided to re-check the trench with full descrimination, looking only for gold. I got a hit near the end of the 15ft trench about 6 inches down. As I bent down and used my pinpointer through the mud and water in the trench I saw a glint of GOLD in the hole. The wedding ring was stuck in the wall of the trench about 4-6 inches down. I turn and ask the homeowner, I said, « I have a questions for you » « would you like to have this back and I handed him his ring« .
He and his wife were so excited they could not believe we found it… they kept saying « you guys are good, you guys are so good« . The wife came out and gave us hug… it was another successful hunt for the « Dallas Ring Finders ».
I often talk about my adventures as a Ring Finder with people at work. Like most people, they love hearing the stories of lost rings, both wedding rings and engagement rings, being found and returned to their owners. Every ring has a story and is so much more than just a piece of jewelry. One day, Jason stops over and tells me that a friend of his lost his ring in his backyard. He wanted to know if it was ok to give him my contact information. He also wanted to know what I charged. I explained that I ask for a small fee to cover gas and my time, and then a discretionary reward – whatever the person can afford and thinks is appropriate for the service we provide.
A couple of days had passed, and I hadn’t heard anything from Jason’s friend. I asked if he had found the lost ring. Jason said he had not, and would remind him to give me a call. Jason had heard all of my stories and knew that we could probably find the ring pretty easy. His friend Ryan was playing football with his kids in his backyard in Fitchburg. On one throw, he actually felt and saw his wedding ring fly off and land on the ground. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to find it. In my experience, what typically happens when someone begins to look for their lost ring, is that they inadvertently step on it – pushing it into the ground. No matter how hard you look with your eyes, you’ll never find it.
Another week passed, and I again asked Jason if Ryan had found his ring. He said that he had not, and this time just sent Ryan a text message and included me on it. I responded directly to Ryan that we could come out that night and take a look. He responded almost immediately and we agreed on a time to head over after work. As I typically do, I brought my kids along who love metal detecting and ring hunting. I talked with Ryan before beginning the hunt. He explained how he had lost the ring and that he was determined to find it himself. He had told his kids that if they found his ring, they could have ice cream as a reward. Funny, right? He also had thoughts of renting a metal detector, but wasn’t sure he would know how to operate it. I explained that he made a good decision to not rent a metal detector. I’ve heard countless stories of people renting a metal detector and getting excited the first time it goes off. However, a typical home owner would be shocked how much junk is hidden under your yard.
I will never forget this hunt, because it was, and still currently stands, as our fastest recovery to date. Ryan pointed to the area that he was standing when he threw the football, and literally within 3 mins we had a signal. We could not see the ring with our eyes, and had to use a small shovel to pry up the ground … out popped Ryan’s ring. He was in disbelief, as was his wife … Ryan said, « You’ve got to be kidding me » probably 4-5 times. It took longer to take our picture and post it to Facebook than it took for us to find his lost ring!
Remember, don’t rent a metal detector, rent a Ring Finder!
I received a call yesterday from Eric a resident of Bellaire, Texas regarding his lost wedding ring. Eric reported he had lost his wedding ring in his backyard while playing water volleyball in his new pool. Eric said he remembered hitting a volleyball and his ring flying off his finger. Eric reported he searched his yard for several days trying to find his ring. Eric said after unsuccessfully finding his ring he located « The Ring Finders » on a Google a search.
I made the trip out to Eric’s home this morning and was given a walk through of how and where the ring was lost. The backyard was under renovations, a beautiful new pool, landscaping steps, and new and old landscaping underway. The backyard had little grass, so the remaining search area was going to be several areas of monkey grass, small hedges and a few flower beds.
Having the 6″ coil for the CTX3030 was a big factor in this recovery. Most of my work was pushing the small coil through the small tight hedges to work the ground below and around the hedges. It would have been nearly impossible to have accomplished this task with the stock 11′ coil.
I worked an area of the yard that seemed most probable for Eric’s ring to have landed based on the information of how it was lost. This area was relatively heavy with scrubs and money grass providing a great hiding place for a missing ring.. I thought for sure it would be the spot. After spending sometime working the hedges and monkey grass in this area with no results, I moved to the far side of the yard.
I started in on one of the flower beds, pushing the coil through the hedges blindly when I got a nice signal. I worked through the ground cover vegetation with a pin pointer and uncovered a series of intertwined gold loops. I ‘ll be honest, I initially thought maybe I had found an earring , I was thinking to myself what the heck is it. I knew it was gold, but did not register as a gold wedding band.
I hollered over to Eric who was working in the yard, and held out the dangling loops of gold, I saw a smile on his face, and rest is now history.
Eric explained that the odd configuration (the gold loops) was a Gold Arabic Puzzle Ring, and it had belonged to his grandfather original, passed to his father, and now to him. Thought to myself (priceless) and awesome, that is something you could never replace.
I have picked up a lot of rings, but this was my first ever puzzle ring and what a cool story. It didn’t take long to figure out why they call it a puzzle ring.
The video is a quick clip of Eric putting his ring back together.
I received a call Wednesday from Jennifer who had located me on www.theringfinders.com she was looking for someone to help her find her mother’s lost wedding ring.
Jennifer reported her mother Barbara had lost her ring in the front yard of her residence while tending to the front lawn and flower beds. Jennifer said her mother was pretty sure she lost her wedding ring of 20 years while working in the yard today.
I asked Jennifer a few more questions about the area to be searched and recommended she tell her mom not to mow the front lawn.
Final arrangements were discussed and plans were made for Friday morning.
Jennifer called me back a few minutes after our conversation ended; reportin her mother’s lawn service had cut the grass Wednesday afternoon. I told Jennifer we will hope for the best, and if the ring is in the yard I would find it.
I made the trip out to Pasadena this morning and meet with Barbara and was shown the areas in the yard where she believed she may have lost her ring.
Barbara returned inside of her residence while I searched the front yard and flower beds. About 15 minutes in, a good solid signal with a depth rate of one inch, I knew I was on the ring.
I packed up my gear and knocked on the front door a few minutes later. Barbara called out, come on in. As I made my way to the living area of the house I heard Barbara say “you couldn’t find it”?
I held out my hand and presented Barbara her missing wedding ring which resulted in some big hugs and smiles.
