Rhonda’s husband gave me a call stating his wife was doing yard work and working with plants in their backyard when she later noticed her diamond and gold ring was missing.  They tried to retrace her steps and even dumped out some potting soil and searched around the garden hose she used to clean up.   I made plans to travel North and agreed to meet Rhonda’s husband shortly after he arrived home.  I pulled into the driveway at 5:00pm and was given the short story of where to search.  I asked the common questions such as… was she wearing gloves?  Did she throw anything away…  While her husband started to search the garbage, I made a few sweeps in the backyard.  There wasn’t any long grass near the house and a few metal objects I tried to avoid.   The backyard did have many metal targets but, using my pinpointer, I confirmed they were not laying above ground in the grass.  I was told Rhonda changed the soil in a plastic planter on the back porch and I thought to myself, why not give that a scan too.  As I ran the pinpointer up and down the sides of the plant container, I heard a beep and Rhonda’s husband glanced over about the same time I look in his direction.  With his permission,  I removed the plant from the pot and scanned again to receive an even stronger signal.  My hand grabbed some of the soil and when I opened my fingers, Rhonda’s ring was found.  This is just another example of thorough detective work and anything is possible.

Lost Pinky Ring in CDA Idaho… FOUND!!

The memories of David’s late mother were swimming around in his head, as David’s dad and David looked through his mom’s jewelry. Just as a bold three diamond gold ring came in view. David quickly recalled his mom wearing it. As if she was there putting it on for an outing David slipped it over his pinky ring seamlessly. There the ring had found a home again. The Ring went with David out to the back patio that night. As David picked up and threw a ball, the ring flew off David’s finger. Raking and using a cheap detector, David looked for his lost ring. After the ring eluded David, he found me on the Ring Finders. I picked up his call and made plans after work. How the ring was lost and where it might have gone were discussed. With the Minelab on, I made an arching grid. Within a few passes a 16-17 signal showed up. It wasn’t deep so I knew his ring could be in sight. That it was, I looked down and saw the ring.  We both were shocked and after photos we had a good chat about our past loved ones. Thank you man for the tip and trusting The Ring Finders.

Lost Rings Rain When It Pours – Emerald Isle,NC Found By Crystal Coast Ring Finders

Katie was spending some rest & relaxation from school with some friends along the Emerald Isle beach.  There was a plastic bag they placed jewelry in before swimming.  A quick downpour of rain came in and as they scampered to gather their gear and run for cover, 5 of Katie’s rings fell into the sand.  Katie was very upset when she phoned her mother to explain what had happed.  Her mother contacted me and while Katie and her friends searched for the rings.  A few minutes had passed until I received word they were able to find 4 of the 5 rings.  The last missing ring was a sentimental gold ring.  After a few messages, I started my way to Emerald Isle.  Katie lead me to the area of the beach and I switched on my metal detector and went to work.  The first target was a small piece of ship copper and the second was Katie’s fifth and final ring.

RINGS TOSSED INTO CARTERET COUNTY CANAL FOUND WITH METAL DETECTOR

We all have done things we later regretted, and this recovery story is one of those instances that has happened more often than one may think.  Because of these 2 rings being intentionally thrown into a canal, I will change the names of the party involved on their request.

While driving back from my local hardware store, I received a call from “Mrs. Smith”.  She inquired about my recovery service and conveyed a sense of urgency for my assistance.  Without very little to go on, she mentioned there were 2 gold rings lost in a canal.  I informed her because of the heat, I don’t travel with my equipment in my truck and would need to go home before heading her way.

Upon arriving, the couple were both outside and met me to explain what happened.  “Mr. Smith” informed me that he took both, his and her, rings and threw them into the canal behind their home.  I didn’t inquire any further as my only business was to find and return both rings.  I asked about the depth and knew it was after low tide there so I would need to get busy or possibly in water too deep to effectively dig.  After getting an idea of what I should wear and the type of equipment needed to use on this soft bottom with scattered oyster shells, I jumped into the surprisingly warm water and started my best to grid the area Mr. Smith pointed out.  About 10 minutes later, I was able to pull Mr. Smiths gold band from about 4 foot of water.  We thought both rings would be near each other, and this was not the case as Mr. Smith threw them from a long distance.  Mrs. Smith’s ring was small and I was getting numerous other signals that either were too deep or small trash.  More minutes past as the couple both sat along the water waiting patiently in the hot sun.  I finally received a steady signal from about 4 ½ foot of water and brought the target to the surface.  After cleaning most of the smelly mud from my sand scoop, I noticed a small gold circle laying in the scoop.  I turned to the couple and gave them a big smile.   Both of their tossed & lost rings were returned.  Mrs. Smith wanted this whole event to be private and I respect her decision and she permitted a picture of the 2 rings and a shot of me kneeling in front of the canal where I made the recovery.

Platinum Ring Recovery

I was contacted on 6/4/204 to find a lost Platinum Ring. Here’s her story

 

Last week – on the way out of town (literally the family was in the car) – I decided I needed to water my plants on the patio. A decision I’d come to regret. The cicada game was fierce and I was watering with my right hand and swatting them away with my left. And then, I felt my wedding ring fly off my finger. But I didn’t see where it went – and didn’t hear it hit the patio and land. I was sure it was in one of the four bushes there – but with a few minutes of checking we gave up and decided we’d look upon our return Sunday.

Well, after a several hour Sunday search and three bushes dismantled branch by branch – we gave up and decided to get professional help.

I contacted Jeremy Conrad Roth from The Ring Finders and he said he could be out within a day. 🥳

Then, to add more fun variables to a horrible situation – the lawn care came while I was away and mowed the lawn where the ring could’ve been even though I contacted them and canceled. 😡😭

But, the next day – after a few hours of completely selfless work on Jeremy’s part (and after I started to lose hope a little) Jeremy did not give up and went in for another check of the original suspect bush and saved the day!! HE FOUND MY RING!!!

I may have to plant some new bushes by the patio – but I have my ring back!! If you ever need help finding a lost item – call him!

I received a message about a lost Gold Diamond Women’s Ring. It was lost after placing the ring into her pocket, the same pocket she had a tissue in to wipe her daughters running nose. So as she pulled out the tissue the ring few out somewhere in the yard. We was able to schedule a time to complete a search. I search the yard and there was the ring hiding in the grass. She was happy to have the ring return to her.

Lost Engagement Ring in Kenner, Louisiana – FOUND

Joseph called and asked for help in finding his fiancé’s, Ingrid, lost engagement ring. They were having an argument, and she threw her diamond engagement ring across the street into his neighbor’s driveway or yard. Carrie and I loaded up our equipment the next morning for the 3-hour drive to the site. When we got to the house, we were early, and Ingrid had not arrived yet. We started a hunt in Joseph’s yard while waiting. We met the neighbor and received permission to hunt their yard. Ingrid arrived soon after. We talked to her some and then had her throw an assortment of rings and washers tied with plastic flagging tape. When I collected the flagged items, I saw the ring in plain view on the driveway. We reunited Ingrid with her ring, took pictures and headed home.

Ring lost at Coronado found

Meredith was at Coronado Beach with her son. She took off her wedding and engagement rings to apply some lotion, set the rings in her lab, and forgetting they were there, stood up to shake some sand off her blanket. She didn’t notice where the rings landed, but, searched the best she could sifting sand through her fingers to no avail. An online search brought her to TheRingFinders.com and my contact info. I gathered my gear and headed there before she had to leave and before the chance someone else detecting might find them. After getting the story on how the rings ended up in the sand, I figured the most likely place to start was right in front of the blanket where she first stood up before she shook the blanket. Sure enough, 10 seconds later and the first signal was both her rings in one scoop. A pleasure to meet you and your son Meredith and thank you for the reward.

Gold Wedding Band Recovered in Elkridge, Maryland!

I received a call last week from David stating that he lost his white gold wedding band while spreading seed and straw at a construction site he was working on in Elkridge Maryland. David was almost positive he could put me in the area that he lost it. Due to several days of consistent rain, we put off the search until yesterday (April, 4th 2024). Even though the rain subsided for the most part, the search area was a muddy pit to say the least! My boots were sinking into the mud every step I took. Just as I thought we were going to have to postpone the search until the area dried out, I got the hit on my metal detector!

David was surprised and relieved when I told him that my work is done here! He stared down at the ground in front of me for a few seconds and eventually saw is lost ring! At first glance it looked like trash amongst the mud, straw and pebbles! A quick wipe down and it was back where it belonged!

A few factors made this recovery successful. David was able to put me in the area where he was almost certain he lost his band. After realizing that a visual search and even an attempt to find it himself with a low-end detector did not produce results, he was quick to contact me through theringfinders.com.  It was a pleasure to return this wedding band to where it belongs!

FOUND! Ring of former Empress of the Imperial Court of San Francisco!

I was scrolling through my notifications on Facebook recently when I noticed one of my friends tagged me in someone else’s post. I clicked to see what it was and actually two of my friends had recommended me to help find a lost « item » in a park. I inquired further and found that the lost item belonged to former Empress of the Imperial Court of San Francisco, celebrity drag queen and legend of the LGBTQAI+ community of San Francisco, Ms. Donna Sachet!
Anyone who has had « celebrity » clients can tell you there is an extra sense of anxiety that comes with finding items for them. And this case was no different.

I met Donna and her dog, Peanut, at the location and together we walked over to where she was seated on a picnic blanket tossing a ball for Peanut the day prior. She shared with me a photo of the large gold ring and told me she was presented with this ring when she won the Empress contest years prior. It was important to her. I understood the importance, it marked an accomplishment. An accomplishment that recognized her work in the community. Over the decades, Donna Sachet has performed as a singer and has raised and donated thousands upon thousands of dollars for various organizations in San Francisco, not the least of which was an organization that I worked for for over 3 years in the early 00’s – The AIDS Emergency Fund.

I had been working for events that raised funds for HIV/AIDS and/or Breast Cancer organizations for many years already by the time I moved across the country from NY to San Francisco. It was through my work in NY  that I was able to secure a job in SF before I even arrived from NY. That job then lead to the AIDS and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund where I stayed for over 3 years before G.W. Bush cut government funding through the Ryan White CARE Act forcing the Emergency Fund to restructure. Unfortunately for me, that restructure did not include a position for me.

As a woman I always found it difficult to be recognized or seen when in a crowd of cute gay men working or meeting some of the folks who helped us raise money, so I didn’t expect Donna to remember or recognize me from those days. But our long list of mutual friends made sure we connected to help her find her ring.

I was running my new Legend and the ground at the park was  extraordinarily trashy. It took a while for me to adjust to the Legend since I’d only been out with it twice before and this was it’s first ring hunt. After close to an hour, Donna left, with tears in her eyes, thinking she would never again see her Empress ring.

Fortunately, I don’t give up easily. I put my hat on backwards, changed from my sunglasses to no glasses (a risky decision usually), put my headphones on (which had been off so Donna could hear the signals too) and within 20 or so minutes I located the ring.

I suspect it’ll be a while before Donna forgets me now!
