Missing Ring in the Wiser Lake Area

Yes unfortunately another lost ring? Thought she had lost it at her brother-in-laws house at a birthday party. After covering that location we then went to her home and recreated her morning that day. Worked a few areas around her house then she remembered she took a walk into the woods so off we went. Swinging the metal detector along a wooded trail to a beautiful location turned up nothing. Of course I kept swinging on the way back and actually spotted it on the ground a bit off the trail and made the find. It is interesting how a ring ends up where it is eventually found. Every time I make a find I learn something new about how and where to look. It is not as simple as it seems, and why we get calls from people who have spent days searching. So yes we can usually help and often its is not always with the metal detector or in the location believed to be.

Lost Ring in the Water at Lake Whatcom

Today in Bellingham Washington I found a ring for a client who was enjoying our warm weather in the lake. He actually lost two rings and saw them fly off his hand while throwing a football. For those who do not know, when you are in cold water your fingers shrink and it is very easy to lose rings. Especially when making harsh moves like throwing a football. If you have a ring or rings that are already loose, you should remove them before swimming in cold water. Always better safe then sorry! These were lost in about four feet of water. He was able to find one at the moment of loosing them but called me out to find the second. Without too much trouble the second ring was recovered.

I got a call from a young man who told me that his wife had lost her diamond engagement ring in Pitt Lake. He went on to tell me that we would have to kayak to the location, this would be a first for me as I’ve never been in a kayak before, but I’m always up for an adventure. I met Rob he showed me how to use the kayak and he told me he could get me to the location where the ring was lost. We kayak for about 25 minutes across the lake to the spot and when I saw the spot I was in shock. How in the world would be able to get me even close to where the Ring was lost because it was over 200 yards from shore.

Robert assured me he could get me close because he had marked two locations, a side location where there was a stump and a tree growing out of it about 200 yards offshore and 100 yards away from where he believed the ring was, he use that as a side marker and he focussed on a front marker close to shore, which was a log sticking out of the mud.

Talk about a needle in a haystack, we marched out at low tide at this lake and close to 200 yards out we were only waste deep in water, he told me where to look and put two markers down for me, within 30 minutes if you can believe it, I found his wife’s beautiful diamond engagement ring.

This will always remain a shocker to me. I have done so many different types of searches over the years and this one should’ve been impossible. The fact that Rob was so good at marking the location it saved his wife’s ring from forever being lost in this lake. I enjoyed the kayak ride! Who knows what I’ll do next maybe a hot air balloon to the next location lol

I love my job!

iPhone 11 lost in Lake Sammamish WA

This family from California was up visiting other family members at their Lake Sammamish property when Blake’s phone got kicked into the water below. Blake had a lot of data on his phone that had not been backed up so it was important for them to recover his phone to secure the data. He left his iPhone on the side of the dock while he was on the jet ski and when he returned his aunt accidentally bumped his phone with her foot. At this point the iPhone was overboard and down to the lake bottom it went. This family initially reached out to a local SCUBA group on FaceBook. They found a recreational diver that offered to come over and « give in a try ». That attempt didn’t work oudft so well for them and their phone was still in the bottom of the lake at the foot of their private dock in no more that fifteen feet of water by all reasonable accounts. Once they found my contact we got the ball rolling and the SeattleRingHunter was on the way for another Lake Sammamish cell phone recovery! Private Dennis Beach, Massachusetts: Lost Ring, Found Ring Returned

Sunday was a beautiful beach day for Natalie and her daughter. As they played in knee deep water Natalie’s engagement ring slipped from her finger. A frantic search did not reveal the ring. Later a friend called for help. Unfortunately the help with her metal detector was directed to an area that did not behold the ring.

That next day I was contacted to help look for the ring. I did and quite a distance from the “area of loss” I found the beautiful 3 diamond white gold engagement ring. I left the fresh water beach to go and search a sandy salt water beach for a man’s lost wedding band.

I was at home when Natalie called and made arrangements to pick up the ring on her way home. As for me…I now know that the ring is back where it belongs and I have a wonderful picture of to beautiful girls with impressive smiles.

Lost Expensive Carbon Fiber JETSURF Hood at Leschi Seattle WA

Here in Seattle we have had some really good weather and with good weather comes the water sports. Dakota contacted me seeking dive recovery support for an expensive carbon fiber lid he lost at the dock from his latest toy. We had a nice chat on the phone where he explained he had this super exciting carbon fiber surfboard that has a gas engine inside of the hull. However when he was moving the board around on the dock the lid came off, went into the lake and sank to 40 feet. The good news was that this just happened and they knew the drop zone precisely. The lid was brightly painted on one side and has a bright colored decal on the back side. Being rather large in size I had all the confidence that it would be a visual find on the surface of the silty lake bottom. I also learned that in all four corners there were metal latching pins on this part so if the silt got too aggressive I would have all opportunity to locate it with my metal detector as a backup plan.

As with many of these dock recovery missions there is typically a stock pile of trash and assorted items that fall into our water ways. Always a great opportunity for a dive in, trash out session as well.

Lost ring, found in Maine Lake

  1. I received a call from a gentleman who lost his wedding ring off the dock at his parents camp on Toddy Pond. I drove up the following day donned my scuba gear said a prayer for St. Anthony’s help and made the recovery quickly utilizing only my pin pointer in about 9 feet of water. Since both the owner of the ring and his father are in the business of marketing eye wear to optometrist’s I will be donating a portion of his generous reward to the Camden Lions Club to help their work with those whom are visually impaired.

Lost Gold Diamond Woman’s Ring at lake in Ohio. “FOUND”

I received a call about a lost ring in a lake. She was just washing her hands in the water and there went the ring, off her hand into the water. She searched for the ring with her hands, but no luck. We setup a time and day to conduct the search. With all of my metal detecting gear, we headed out to the location on a 20 minute boat ride. After reaching the location and determining the starting point to search. As the water level as changed quite a bit since the ring was lost. I had my first hit in a couple feet of water, used my sand scoop and pull up nothing. I try again and there was a gold ring inside of my scoop. I asked her if this ring is yours and she cheer with joy as yes it was hers missing ring. The ring mean a lot to her as it was her moms. She could not believe that I found the ring. She try a couple of times before to find the ring with no luck. She did have insurance on the ring, but it would not have replaced the ring with so much sentimental value to the ring as this one did. She is very happy to have the ring return back to her.

Tungsten Carbide ring found in Denver lake

While placing anchors for an inflatable float platform in a private lake in northern Denver Erin lost his Tungsten Carbide wedding ring. He had repositioned the float and anchors a couple of times before finalizing its location.  He had made a few attempts to recover his ring by using a snorkel mask and free-diving the site.  Three weeks later Erin had heard of my attempts to find one of his neighbors ring and contacted me.

The search area wasn’t too large but due to the fact that the lake was a former sand and gravel pit the depth of the water varied from only about 3 feet deep to chin deep. With one of my underwater detectors in hand I began my grid search of the area. Not knowing how a Tungsten Carbide ring would read on my machine I needed to pull up all metal targets. After retrieving several nails, pieces of can and other miscellaneous debris and placing this debris in my trash pouch, Erin’s ring came up in my scoop. Once again the proper equipment, in this case an underwater metal detector and a proper scoop, along with the knowledge and experience in using this equipment saved the day.
