Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring – Found in Ruckersville, Virginia

  • from Leesburg (Virginia, United States)

Call Ray at MyGoldFinder for lost items 571.258.7217 www.mygoldfinder.com

I received a call from Vinny Thursday morning around 9:00 AM. He was frantically trying to locate someone to help him find his wife’s platinum engagement ring. Vinny and his wife were out on the front lawn the afternoon the day before and she had lost her gorgeous engagement ring. They both looked exhaustively for the ring on their hands and knees for hours but could not locate the ring. The day Vinny called me was also his wife’s birthday so he was frantic and hopeful he could return his wife’s ring back to her on yet another special day, her birthday.

I immediately  prepared to travel the 2 hours to Vinny’s location as I knew I had to reunite this lady with her ring. I arrived at the site and Vinny gave me the layout of the location and the events leading up to losing the ring. I immediately went to work and within 5 minutes had the ring back in Vinny’s hands. This was one of the fastest recoveries I’ve been on!! 4 hour round trip drive, 5 minute recovery…Awesome!!

*** Angela lost her gold university class ring in the sand while brushing sand off her hand. All of her friends spent several hours trying to recover the ring. It was not looking like the ring could be found and she was devastated. One of her friends found me on a google search and she called me immediately.

After hearing what happened, I knew it could be found if she could stay in the area for another hour until I got to the location. This was probably our only chance to find her ring as the beach is sifted daily and this time of year it is heavily hunted by recreational detectorists.

We met on the within the time I said I could be there. I set up my metal detector and the ring was found right in the zone that was marked by many finger drag marks they left me after their attempts to find the ring.

Everyone was relieved that the ring was found and their good friend, Angela could be happy that her beautiful gold university class ring was not lost forever.

Gold Ring Lost on Hillside in Laguna Niguel, CA.. Found in Ivy and Leaves

**** Lisa Called me asking for help to find a ring her mother,  Vicki had lost while feeding birds in her backyard. The ring was actually very special as it was her husband’s wedding ring and he had recently past away.

I was able to get to the home in Laguna Niguel, CA. just an hour before dark. I knew this search may take a few hours, it was important to see the area to be searched so I can wear the proper clothing and bring the best tools for the search.

The ring had come off Vicki’s finger as she tossed bird seed over a plant and the ring had went down a 45 degree slope that had ivy and leaves. Perfect place to hide the ring, but not so nice to search for a ring.

I did a short search that first evening and returned the next morning with long pants, long sleeve shirt, gloves and proper shoes for the area to be searched. I began at the bottom of the slope on  my hands and knees. ( almost impossible to stand on the steep slope.)

Using a detector that had a short shaft and following up with a Garrett Pinpointer. I worked 5 ft square areas,  one at a time before moving over to the next 5ft.square. Two hours after starting I got a great signal and in the leaves there was the sight of gold as I moved a few leaves. RING SAVED!!

I was surprised how far the ring ended up, far to the left of where she had thrown the bird seed. This seems to be common , often rings lost while throwing objects seem the come off at the end of the motion. ?? Also rings lost over hillsides travel much further than you think. This ring traveled more than 40 feet from where she was standing and 20 more feet to the left of what I had planned to grid search.

It is hard to describe the look on Vicki’s face when I went to her door and held up the ring. Also her daughter Lisa couldn’t be there, but texted me a beautiful message saying how much this meant to the whole family..

*** Brittany had lost her Diamond Engagement Ring in the sand while laying out on at Hermosa Beach, CA.. She called asking for help. I was able to meet her and her fiancé on the beach a short time after we talked. They had been searching the sand for hours with no success. Actually they had more than a dozen people helping them.

I met her on the beach and set up my metal detector. As I was beginning my grid search we visually spotted the ring on the surface of the soft fluffy sand. We must have kicked it up. Also the sun was just right to reflect the brilliance of the diamond.

All was well and Brittany was very surprised and happy that she stayed and didn’t give up before the miracle happened..

METAL DETECTING  FOR A LOST RING IN NEWPORT BEACH, CA. .. FOUND AND RETURNED .. Call Stan the Metal Detector Man ..  949-500-2136

*** I had taken the morning to go to a scuba dive show in Long Beach, CA. Just as I was about to get into my car for the drive home, I received a desperate call from Mary. She had dropped her gold and diamond wedding ring set in the dry sand. She was afraid to try to dig through the sand as she thought she might make them impossible to find.

I was about 25 miles away but normally it is only a couple miles from my home. I could be there within an hour and it could be a easy recovery if she could stay at the site. Of course she agreed, it was her original wedding and engagement rings, very sentimental and irreplaceable.

Her friend offered a parking place at a residence near the beach front, another bonus as the beach was full of people enjoying the nice sunny day. After showing up near the time I gave her we were successful finding her rings. I might point out the the people next to Mary had noticed her predicament and were able to give her my contact information. I had found a ring for them last year.  Another perfect recovery because the people on the beach gave her my contact information, she called right away and I was available to get to the location in a timely manner with the proper tools to find those rings.

18K White Gold Earring Found in Warrenton Virginia

  • from Leesburg (Virginia, United States)

Call Ray at MyGoldFinder for lost items 571.258.7217 www.mygoldfinder.com

I received a text from my fellow ‘theRingFinders’ detectorist and friend, Rob Ellis. He had received a call from a young lady who lost an earring and he referred the job over to me. Rebecca contacted me shortly afterwards about having lost the circular round back part of her 18K white gold earring, the diamond stud sat in the center. Rebecca was staying at a beautiful Bed & Breakfast located on several acres in Warrenton Virginia with family. While out for a stroll on a gorgeous sunny morning she was carrying her son across the field to the house, when her son grabbed her ear and the earring came flying off.

After I gathered a few more details from Rebecca I got on the road and arrived in Warrenton about an hour later. Once I arrived Rebecca showed me the grassy area that she believed the other part of the earring should be as this was the location when her son grabbed her and she had found the stud on her dress. The area was slightly on a hill, with the area where the earring might be was unmowed, probably to ensure the earring didn’t get chopped up or tossed out by the mower blades.

As the item was pretty small I asked Rebecca if I could have her place the other earring on the ground so I could get a signal reading from it, both with the stud and post, and without. Without the earring and the post the signal was very weak, on the Equinox 800 very low tone 2 I was very concerned I wouldn’t be able to locate this weak of a signal in the taller grass.

I started the search in the grassy areas first, gridding up and down to ensure full coverage. As this B&B location is used for weddings and other events, there was a lots of hits I had to sort through, most were high tones and since I was only looking for this specific low tone range it made it a little easier, but a bit frustrating not to dig those other solid signals!! After a couple of hours in the grass and no luck I decided to start back past the pavilion and in between the large shed and gravel area. and BEHOLD, there it was just waiting to be found hiding slightly under a gravel stone.

When I do recover an item I like to just send the owner a picture text and then wait for their reaction, typically priceless. Rebecca came running out the front door yelling « You found it!? », at which time I held it high into the air. Rebecca has been reunited with her precious earring and couldn’t have been happier this day.

Rebecca, it was a pleasure meeting you and I’m thrilled I was able to recover your item for you.

Lost engagement ring and wedding ring in grass, Longwood, Florida….Found!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)
Contact:

Mrs Patty was engaged back in 1972 and received a simple but beautiful diamond ring! Twenty years later she added two more diamonds to her engagement ring, one from her deceased mother’s ring and the other diamond came from her late grand mother’s engagement ring! Fast forward 30 years and as Patty was pulling some trash bins around her house to set on the curb for the next days pick up she noticed that her rings were not on her finger. Figuring they must have come off somehow while tugging on the garbage bins she began searching the grass and leaves along the path she had taken. She even went out later that night with a strong flashlight hoping to catch a glimpse of the gold or by some slim chance see a sparkle from one of the three diamonds. But she got more discouraged as she realized that it would be next to impossible to find them without the help of a metal detector. Later that evening she went on line and searched for « Metal detector rental » and one of the links that came up was www.theringfinders.com.

I am so very thankful to have numerous opportunities to help people find their lost rings! It is an honor to meet and listen to each person’s story about what it is that they lost and what the item means to them. Most often it is a wedding ring or engagement ring that has been dropped, lost or even thrown and to see and hear the pain and distress brought on by such an event…spurs me on to do whatever I can to relieve that stress and grief and bring back the joy that is missing in their lives.

I began searching along the paths that Patty indicated she had taken and had almost covered the front yard. Before heading to the side of the house I decided to go up along the driveway, even though she did not indicate she had walked that way. Halfway up I received a strong signal and could barely see part of what looked like a ring and it was tilted in the grass making it difficult to see what I thought looked like some diamonds. I called to Mrs Patty and she came a running with a big smile on her face. I encouraged her that if one of her rings dropped there it was very likely that the wedding ring was close by. I swept the area again thinking surely I would get a signal but nothing. I went up to the sidewalk and came back covering the same area and as I approached the exact spot where the diamond ring was resting I glanced out onto the concrete driveway and guess what I spotted…just lying in plain sight? There was Mrs Patty’s wedding ring…and again I called her to come see what else I had just found! She could hardly believe that it had been there all along…hiding in plain sight!
It was an honor to help Mrs Patty and to know that one day her rings will be passed on to another generation to enjoy and cherish!

December 2021Marissa contacted me on Christmas day with an emergency engagement ring recovery. She was quick to tell her story sharing that the night before on Christmas Eve her boyfriend proposed to her and gave her a beautiful diamond sapphire engagement ring. Being that they were from Montana and amateur rock hounds they have a special appreciation for sapphires having found and process them in the past. So Levi her fiancé had a few special Yogo Sapphires purchased from Montana set on her engagement ring for that extra special touch. She proudly wore this ring on her finger and that evening they went to a late night Catholic Mass service. When she returned home late at night she got out of the passenger side of their car and then immediately she felt her ring slip off her finger and heard it land in the soft squishy grass below her feet. The weather had been very cold, it was dark and they could only do too much without stepping on the ring and risking damage. The next morning on Christmas day after an online search on how to find a lost ring in the grass they came across TheRingFinders.com and reached out to me for assistance.

By the time she called me on Christmas day the snow had already started falling. Not having lost a ring like this ever before Marissa’s stress level was now maxed out over her lost engagement ring. I reassured her that with her knowing exactly how the ring fell off gave us a lot of confidence that it had to be in the grass or their car and I should be able to recover it. I told her I was currently in Olympia for Christmas day but would be heading home the next day. The search was set for the 26th and that next day I made it through the snow storm to their home by evening time. The snow had started piling up but all turned out well enough. I was able to quickly recover the ring in securely hidden under the fresh snow next to their parked car. Her new engagement ring was absolutely stunning and found undamaged. The couple was very happy to have the ring back in their own hands. After a quick inspection it was very quite obvious the ring was over sized. She was precautioned to take the ring as soon a possible to a jeweler for resizing for a proper fit. She absolutely agreed not waning to loose it a second time.

November 2021 Carolyn contacted me sharing her story of how she had just become engaged to her fiancé when the unthinkable happened. Just a few days later her newly received loose fitting precious rose gold moss agate diamond engagement ring had gone missing. She explained that she had place the ring on her finger while sorting some Christmas decorations in her home and the ring actually fell of her finger onto a front room table. At this point her gut told her she should put it up in a safe place until she could have it sized by a jeweler. However the excitement and meaning of the ring over came her and she put it back on her finger anyway thinking this was most likely not the best idea. She continued working on Christmas decorations in her home for quite a while. She used her hands quite a bit placing ornaments and a new string of Christmas lights inside a special Christmas pig for her front yard. The time came when she went out side where she had strung some lights on a tree, placed the Christmas pig in the front yard and set some other Christmas lights throughout her landscaping. After this she went inside and organized a few boxes and bags full of holiday items. She also remembered accessing her back yard to secure her chicken coop for the night. Quite a few things were very concerning to her as her ring is one of a thiner dainty sized ring making it easy to hide in so many places.

Of course I agreed to assist Carolyn and reassured her over our initial phone conversation. I reminded her in her situation it was good that she had not left the residence and they still had all of their household garbage. So for all practical reasoning her ring had to be some place on the premise and I would do all I could to recover her newly received engagement ring. After I showed up Carolyn’s fiancé took there dog for a walk so that distraction would not be an issue. Carolyn, with great detail, shared all the places and activities she had done must prior to loosing her ring. After a short time searching I was able to recover her ring in pristine condition.

Watch this video to see the exciting conclusion and over joyed reaction when Carolyn’s gets her beloved engagement ring returned to her finger.

Lost 14k Rose Gold Ring in West Jordan: Found

Kiley reached out to me after realizing she just lost her 14k rose gold wedding ring. She came home and went to bring in the trash cans off the street. The trash can lid was open so she flipped it closed which upon doing, she got some snow on her hands. She went to flick off the snow and heard her ring hit the snow. It was dark and she was unable to see where it landed. It was a beautiful 14k rose gold ring with an Opal and two small diamonds. After searching in the snow, she turned to finding a metal detector and found this page.  I went over that evening in the dark and search for nearly two hours along the tree strip where the trash can had been. I expanded the search area but unfortunately did not find the ring that night. I went home, tested a few small rings my wife has making sure my detector was picking up the signal. It was working great! I also came up with a theory that the ring didn’t actually come off her hand after closing the lid to the trash can but that the lid of the trash can caught her ring and threw it up in the air directly into the street or to the tree strip across the street. I went back the next day and continued to search the area she thought she lost it but after an hour or so, still no ring. I decided to put my theory to action and after just a few minutes directly across the street, I found her ring laying in the tree street about 40 feet away! It just so happened to be Kiley’s birthday so it was a nice birthday surprise getting the ring back to her!
