Gold Wedding Ring Lost in Sand at Santa Monica Beach…Found and Happily Returned

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

If you have lost something, please call right away. The longer you wait, the less the chance of a recovery. Steve Smith 310-953-5268

Yun called me to ask if I could help find his wedding ring. He had been at Muscle Beach in Santa Monica on the equipment, and put his ring in his pocket. After he was done he reached into his pocket to retrieve the ring, and with the flick of his hand, his ring flew into the sand. Although he searched diligently for it, it was nowhere to be found. We arranged a time to meet there, and I was on my way.

When I got there Yun, his new bride (they were on their honeymoon from South Korea), and his friend Tae met me to show me where the loss occured. I began my search covering the area showed to me, finding some small pieces of metal, but not the ring. Then I began to widen the search area going out grid line by grid line. I got a great double signal steady in the headphones, put the scoop in, and had the ring. Yun and his bride were very happy, and thankful to have the ring back, and it was great that their honeymoon was not spoiled. Their rings matched, which was nice.

Lost and found gold wedding ring in Cobourg Ontario

Received a phone call from Parshant late last evening. He and his brother and family had spent the day at Cobourg beach when disaster struck. While playing volleyball in the water, he felt and saw his 22k gold wedding band fly off his finger while hitting the ball. After a frantic search for over an hour, they manage to find me via the Ringfinder’s website. I gathered all the required equipment and headed to Cobourg beach. The issue was that they couldn’t quite remember exactly where the ring had fallen off and ended up with a very large search area. After searching for over an hour and a half, it was now dark. I decided to come back the following morning for a fresh start. As this beach is heavily hunted by metal detectorists, and following a long weekend with Canada day festivities, I had to find this ring ASAP. Using grid markers along the shore, I was able to grid the area properly and within thirty minutes, I finally was able to scoop the ring out of the water and return it to its rightful owner this evening. Another happy ending and beautiful day at the beach. Life is good.

Miracle find in the lake

  • from Mount Pleasant (Michigan, United States)

I found this guys ring after he lost it a week ago and I just happened to find it when he was there a week later. I was just detecting in the water and found it. About five minutes later his son asked me if I found a ring and then his dad asked if I found a black ring. I asked if he was joking, but he showed me the exact same ring on his finger, as he had already replaced it. I gave him his ring and he wanted to give me a reward, but he didn’t have any cash on him. I told him that it’s not all about money and he didn’t call me out to find it. He did give me 4 beers though. The smile on his face was reward enough.

Engagement Ring Recovered After Being Thrown Off 5th Story Hotel Balcony, Atlantic Beach, FL.

  • from Ponte Vedra Beach (Florida, United States)

A Diamond’s Descent: Recovering a Ring Thrown from a Fifth-Floor Balcony

The call came in, laced with the kind of frantic desperation only a lost engagement ring can inspire. A gentleman on vacation in a beachfront hotel had a big problem. The night before, a heated argument, fueled by alcohol, led to his fiancée doing the unthinkable: tossing her diamond engagement ring from their fifth-floor balcony. They’d scoured the area for hours, both that night and the next morning, but the ring was nowhere to be found. The kicker? The balcony didn’t face the soft sands of the beach, but the unforgiving asphalt of the street below.

I told him I’d be there in minutes. When I arrived at the hotel, the couple, visibly distraught, led me to the fateful balcony. Their access to the room was gone, but I had an idea. I approached the hotel manager, explained the bizarre situation, and, much to my relief, she graciously allowed us a few minutes back in the room. My plan? Have the fiancée toss a few coins off the balcony. It’s a trick that helps me gauge the trajectory and spread of a thrown object, giving me a better search pattern. A few coins later – and, yes, a few unfortunate « dings » on passing cars – I had a better sense of where to focus.

My initial sweep of the planter boxes directly beneath the balcony yielded nothing. They’d already combed the street for hours, they told me, with no success. But I knew the ring had to be there. I extended my search into the street itself, methodically sweeping my detector.

Then, the sweet, unmistakable signal. There, amidst the grit and grime of the road, lay the diamond engagement ring. It was a testament to its journey; the band was broken, likely from being run over by several cars, but the diamond itself, the precious heart of the ring, was still miraculously intact.

Handing it back to him, I could see the immense relief wash over his face. He was, without a doubt, more elated to have that ring back in his possession than she was in that moment. Another day, another lost treasure found, and another couple breathing a sigh of relief, all thanks to a little patience and a lot of metal detecting know-how.

Phone lost at Coronado beach found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Andrea was spending the day at the beach with her family. Her kids and other kids near by were having fun playing and digging in the sand. Time to go and ooops, her phone is missing. In searching best as she could, still no phone would go home. I was contacted later and received the details I needed to conduct the search. There was still a « find my phone » signal coming from the loss area, so, it’s likely still there. Andrea was not able to meet me there at that time, but, I wanted to jump on it right away as that beach gets detected often. With the directions I needed, I set up a grid area as best I could considering that there were lots of people in that area that might be in the way. I started in the open spots before having to ask people to move. Luckily, I got a great booming signal on my Equinox 900 after only a couple of passes. It read pretty deep though and I thought it was just going to be a quarter or an aluminum can. Well, over a foot down, I found her phone, still on and still working! It must have fallen into one of the many holes dug by the children. A text later found a happy Andrea going to get her phone back. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

Heirloom Ring Quickly Found in Grand Haven

  • from Grand Haven (Michigan, United States)

I received a call from Ven, from TX, who was visiting MI with his family.  Apparently, his teenaged daughter had lost a gold ring on the volleyball court at Grand Haven State Park and they were frantically trying to find it.  When I got to the park, Ven’s daughter and a few others were screening sand with a small sifter but with no luck.  After about a 2 minute search with the Garrett AT Pro and a pinpointer the ring was back on her hand to much applause and tears.  Ven’s wife said the ring was given to her daughter by her grandmother who recently passed.  It was a very emotional moment for everyone :’)  I photographed the ring and Ven’s daughter with the ring back in her finger but, being a minor, Ven asked me not to post her picture.  Fair enough.  I was happy to retrieve such a precious heirloom.

Gold Ring Lost in Santa Monica Backyard…Found and Joyfully Returned.

Please don’t wait any longer because time will induce variables that will make the recovery of your lost item more difficult! Steve 310-953-5268

Alan called asking for help in finding a ring his wife had lost in their back yard. I was doing a search in a burned home in the Palisades at the time of the call, and told Alan I would be able to help him after I was finished.

When I got there Alan introduced me to his wife Ronnie, and she took me to the backyard showing me the area of the loss. It wasn’t very big, but the grass was tall and thick which would hide a ring easily. I began my search working the open area with no luck. Then I began working around some pots and pallets in the area. At the corner of one of the pallets I received a solid signal, put my pinpointer in, and found her ring. It had been her grandmother’s ring, and she became very emotional when I gave it back to her. It turned out to be a great day.

Lost Wedding / Engagement Ring Recovery Minnesota

  • from Twin Cities Metro (Minnesota, United States)

I received a call from Tina in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, about 45 minutes from me. She was out playing catch with the kids in her backyard. At some point she noticed her diamond ring was missing from her finger. Her and her family check all over the yard and couldn’t find it. One of the neighborhood kids has a metal detector and he scanned the area also, nothing. Tina was searching the internet for help when she googled « lost ring recovery in yard » and theringfinders.com website popped up. She called and we set a day & time for the search. This was a a wide open backyard with no metal or electrical interference, which is very nice for us metal detectorists.  It only took about 5 minutes and the grass gave up this beautiful white gold diamond ring. Truly glad I could help you out Tina, Congrats!!
