How to find a Lost Ring at Jericho Beach…

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I’m having a good sleep and the phone started vibrating at 4:15 AM I checked it and saw a local number, I knew this would be a 911 call for a Lost Ring. The young man asked if I was the guy who finds lost rings, I said yes. He apologize for calling so early and explained that he’s been on the beach for four hours looking for his lost ring. He went on to tell me that he was throwing a stick and the ring came off, he could not find it with the help of his wife and others on the beach at around 11 PM. He took his wife back home and came back to the beach and started searching with a flashlight. Around 3:30 AM he went home and got onto the Internet and found TheRingFinders. After discussing the search for a few minutes a got dressed and jumped in my car and headed straight out to Jericho Beach in Vancouver. Normally this drive would take me over 45 minutes due to traffic but this morning it only took 30 minutes.

We met at the beach and the young man took me to the area where he remembered sitting, however, he would be off by about 20 yards. After close to an hour and 30 minutes a lot of nails, pull tabs, and bottle caps, I finally stumbled onto his ring, he was one happy camper!!! The reason it took so long was because he felt it was in a different area which made me focus harder in that area knowing when I did not find it there I had to expand my grid search because most people can’t put you in the exact spot even though they think it is. The young man didn’t want to be on my video and didn’t want to picture for the book of smiles, that is his choice and I have to honor that, so you’ll see a picture of me with my tired smile and the small platinum ring I found for this young man.

After this recovery, I headed out to search for a water main that was buried under 1 foot of earth, that search took me one minute to find.

**** Sean lost his platinum wedding band at a local SoCal beach in the drysand. His wife was upset with him because they both knew it needed to be resized. She had even suggested that he leave the ring at home.

As usual they spent several frustrated hours searching by hand before calling me to help. After hearing that he felt the ring come off and they were still at the location, I told them we had a very good chance to find it with my up to date metal detecting equipment. I arrived shortly after talking to Sean.

His wife Michelle was still upset, but after a short search we had the ring. Everything changed after I handed them the ring. Another happy couple with their very important wedding ring that means so much to the both of them.

Ring Found At Oak Beach, South Haven, MI

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

Levi, Ian and friends headed north to spend some time in the paradise of West Michigan.  They were enjoying some beach time today when Ian put his cap on the sand, and his girlfriends ring on top of the cap for safe-keeping.  When they were getting ready to leave, the cap went back on Ian’s head, and oops, he remembered about the ring too late.  Thankfully Levi emailed me for help right away, and I was off for the hunt.

Levi, and Ian met me at the beach head and led me down the path to the right spot on the beach.  The beach was crowded, and I was worried I might have to ask some people to move, if they would, for a minute so I could search under their blankets and other beach equipment.

But I made one pass down the search area and was halfway back when I got the sweet sound of the ring.  The whole beach joined in the celebration of the find.  I love this hobby where you can save good memories for good people.

Lost Gold Hawaiian Ring at Hanohano Hale Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text Saturday from Nicole who lives on Oahu and lost her Hawaiian Heritage ring at Hanohano Hale Beach in Punaluu. While swimming with some friends at the beach as she exited the water a rather large wave crashed into her near the shoreline and her ring came off. She reached for the ring but it disappeared in the surf. She fruitlessly searched for awhile and finally giving up as the waves were pounding the shore. We talked on the phone as I reviewed the surf report and agreed Thursday would be the best day to hunt as the tide would be low in the morning and the surf would be much less then when she lost the ring. I arrived Thursday morning and waited for Nicole to arrive and show me where the ring came off. Thankfully, this area has a barrier reef before the shoreline so I expected the ring to be very near where it was dropped. I started my grid search in about waist deep water and worked towards shore. I noticed a few Portuguese Man-O-Wars in the sand so I was keeping my guard up so not to entangle myself in any tentacles in the water. I completed the search area and didn’t find Nicole’s sentimental ring. We discussed some other details and I decided to do a grid perpendicular to the shoreline. On the third leg I got a screaming target on my Excalibur and after two deep scoops there was Nicole’s ring in the scoop. I yelled ashore to her that I got it and she met me on the water’s edge to look in the scoop. I saw a tremendous smile come over her face and I knew it was the one. Besides a generous reward Nicole gave me a wonderful decanter of Kohana Rum Barrel Aged Hawaiian Honey which I will put in my coffee each morning until its gone. What a great way to start my day and lift our spirits during this pandemic. Aloha to Nicole!

“I FIND JEWELRY “ Call Now if You Need My Help … Stan  949-500-2136

*** Dave and his wife were at Crystal Cove State Beach which is in Newport Beach, CA. His wife lost an hierloom gold ring playing in waist deep surf. He contacted me by text asking for help. I was able to get the location of the loss using text photos as Dave could not meet me at the location.

The first attempt was the day after the loss. It was a “no find” because the tide wasn’t low enough to allow me to get far out. The minus low tides were happening at early am hours and the main park is closed at 10pm. Conditions of the sand looked favorable but I would have to wait 4 days for the best tides. I had to walk in almost 2 miles at 1:30am.

It was a very dark night with no moon but I had a feeling that if the ring was still there, I had a good chance to find it. This was going to be a one time search. Can’t hike in two miles very many times. Anyway, I did a 45 minute grid search and the ring showed up 30’ to 40ft. outside the search zone only about 4 inches deep.

Dave met me the next day where I was able to give him the ring. He had not told his wife, so he was going to surprise her that evening.  As always, it was a pleasure to help Dave and his wife to find a sentimental keepsake like this awesome gold ring that spent 4 days hiding under the sand in the Pacific Ocean.

Brennon called me and asked if I could help find his wife Casssie’s wedding band. Cassie took off her engagement ring and wedding band and placed them on her sweater when she went into the water at the beach.

It wasn’t until they got home she realized she lost her rings. They headed back to the beach and with the help of others they found the engagement ring but couldn’t find the wedding band.

When I arrived it only took me a few minutes and I found Cassies ring. They were very thankful for the ring finder service.

Lost wedding ring on Walmer beach

  • from Kent (England, United Kingdom)

I was contacted yesterday by Lee via ring finders.com who had lost his white gold wedding ring whilst playing in the sea 0n Walmer beach with his children a couple of days ago .
We arranged to meet in the car park this morning, and Lee showed me the location of the loss , he was very concerned that due to the very steep shingle bank around the area that recovery would be nigh on impossible , the tide was going out , and at the time only 2 or 3 meters of wet shingle from the high tide mark were clear of water , I gridded out the area and after about 10 minutes of searching my Equinox 800 hit on a target reading 20-22 , one sand scoop later and there was a nice silvery coloured ring showing on the shingle, Lee was amazed his precious wedding band had been recovered so easily and quickly from such a steep shingle bank , he recalled that the very strong current had pulled him down the bank and he had to thrust his hands into the shingle to stop himself being dragged into deeper water , this was the very moment Lee realised his wedding ring had been pulled from his finger .

Lost wedding ring, Lake Montclair, Dumfries VA…FOUND!

Rob Ellis: Metal Detector Expert…Call or text 703-598-1435

August 13, 2020: A couple of days ago, Eddie was playing in the water with his children. When he realized his ring was missing, he searched as well as possible. He soon realized he needed a waterproof metal detector. Eddie called the Woodbridge SCUBA Dive Shop to see if someone could conduct a search. Since no one was available to immediately help, my friends at Woodbridge SCUBA referred me to Eddie.

West beach is private for the Montclair Property Owners Association members

We were supposed to meet at 0800, but we were both 15 minutes early. It was raining very hard the whole time and I was watching for approaching lightning. After Eddie showed me the potential areas the ring could have fallen off, I started the search. Something made me go just a little further out for my first leg of the pattern. Within a few minutes, I heard that lovely tone of gold and recovered Eddie’s wedding band. By this time Eddie’s wife had arrived and they were both there when I handed over the ring. It was then that they told me that tomorrow was their anniversary!! We were all soaking wet, but full of warm feelings.  I love this hobby!!!!
