Wedding rings recovered at Benona Township Park, Shelby, Michigan

We Have To Be Crazy!! Last night at 8:30 I got a call for a lost ring 1 1/2 hrs north of us. We head out and at 10:00PM we arrived at a bridge over a small river leading to Lake Michigan. Jim and Megan met us at the bridge. Megan lost her wedding rings coming out of the river in about waist deep water. It was pitch dark, raining slightly and thunder and lightning in the distance. Megan used her cell phone light to show us the exact spot where she lost the ring. Jim was dressed for the water so we gave him the metal detector and the scoop. We had him scan his wedding ring and told him to listen for that sound and then dig the target. In about 3 minutes he got a signal and dug a scoop full. Megan shined her light into the scoop and retrieved her ring-speechless at that point. Packing up our gear and heading out safe and sound and a little wet and leaving a very happy couple behind.

St. Christopher medal recovered from Hutchins Lake, Fennville, MI

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

I received a call last night from Ryan, stating he had just lost his gold Saint Christopher medal. It was a valuable piece, but priceless to Ryan as it had been his grandfather’s — just talking about the loss kind of choked him up. He had been playing with his daughter in about 3 feet of water when the gold chain broke, and chain and medallion dropped into the water. With some searching he found the chain but not the medal. He had a pretty good idea of where it was lost by lining up landmarks on shore and some boats nearby (good job Ryan). Gregg and I met them within an hour of his call and the search was on. I was on my second leg through that area when I got the unmistakable sound of gold and had it in my scoop. After a few whoops and hollers and some pictures we were headed home after our second successful search this weekend. Picture is Ryan, Melissa and daughter, Shayla.

: A Beachside Miracle: Recovering Chris’s Lost Wedding Ring at Oxnard Shores

Amidst the serenity of Sunday morning church service, a call from Chris pierced the tranquility, catapulting me into a race against time. His family’s leisurely day at the beach in Oxnard had taken a harrowing turn when his wife’s precious wedding ring vanished amidst the chaos of sunscreen and sandy shores. Aware of the common pitfalls that accompany beach outings, especially with energetic children in tow, I swiftly assured Chris of my assistance and hastened to rendezvous with them at the sun-kissed shores of Oxnard.

Upon arrival, a cursory survey of the beach unveiled a sprawling expanse of sand, punctuated by the laughter of families and the rhythmic crash of waves. Armed with their insights into the approximate location of the ring’s disappearance, I meticulously charted a course, my trusty metal detector poised for action. Amidst the cacophony of beachgoers, I methodically sifted through the sand, discerning the subtle nuances of each signal amidst the clutter of bottle caps and debris.

Relocating to a new vantage point yielded swift dividends as the dulcet tones of my Minelab Equinox 800 reverberated through the air, signaling a promising discovery. With practiced precision, I plunged my scoop into the sand, unearthing the gleaming treasure buried beneath. Three scoops later, Chris’s wife’s wedding ring emerged victorious, a beacon of hope amidst the vast expanse of beachfront.

As the sun cast its golden glow upon the tranquil waters, Chris and his family were reunited with their cherished symbol of love, a testament to the power of timely intervention. 3 Rings Representing 40 Years of Marriage…Lost, but Now FOUND Nashville, Tennessee!

I received a phone call from a very distraught Lynn on Wednesday afternoon (August 4, 2021). Lynn told me that she had lost all 3 of her very special rings (2 white gold and 1 platinum) she received from her husband of 40 years, Peter, for their engagement and anniversaries.  I could hear how much these rings meant to her as she explained the details of the loss.  The day prior, Lynn was about to go to the store, so she went through her normal routine of putting on lotion and 3 rings on her left pinky.  Before Lynn left, she decided to water the plants and refill the olla’s outside of her home in Nashville, TN.  She noticed a few weeds and did a few other minor chores outside.  By the time she was done, an hour and a half had passed.  Finishing up the yard work, Lynn was reaching for a tomato she had picked and noticed that all 3 rings were gone!  She told me that she knew she had the rings on when she started and could show me exactly what she did and retrace every spot she was at.  Lynn and Peter had spent numerous hours looking and even tried searching with a metal detector.  I reassured Lynn and told her that if the rings were there, I would find them.

We arranged for a search on Friday morning (August 6, 2021).  After I arrived, Lynn re-enacted everything she had done on Tuesday in great detail.  I started a very thorough search, checking every square inch of the plants and yard where she was pulling out weeds.  I cleared the side of the house and front yard.  I began searching the front shrubs and planter on the front walkway.  I pulled out my Garrett “Carrot” pinpointer to search the plant.  When I parted the plant on the left side I couldn’t believe my eyes with what was staring back at me!  Wow…3 beautiful rings just lying there in the planter!!!

I was able to snap a few pictures.  Peter then stepped out to see how the search was going.  I told him that I had just found Lynn’s rings.  He could hardly believe it.  I quickly showed him the rings sitting in the planter.  I told him that we should surprise Lynn.  Peter went in the house and told her that I needed to ask her a question.  Lynn stepped outside and I asked her to re-confirm what she was doing in the front and if she watered that plant.  She showed me that she had filled up a wine bottle with water and flipped it down into a terracotta spike on the right side.  I asked if she worked on the left side where the rings were.  She caught that first glimpse and just lost it!  I’m not the best at surprise reveals, but this was one of the best reactions I’ve ever seen.  Tears of joy, happiness, and relief!  This is why we do what we do!  We determined that Lynn’s rings came off when she was reaching in to feel for the spike to replace the bottle.  They must’ve snagged on the vegetation, but she never felt them slip off.

This search only took about 20 minutes, but I stayed afterwards and chatted with Lynn for about 2 hours.  I really enjoyed this adventure, and it was an absolute pleasure meeting Lynn, Peter, and their dog, Jim!  I give all glory to God.  I have to say that it’s truly a blessing being a member of The Ring Finders.

Oceanside metal detector found lost gold diamond ring at the beach in San Diego

  • from Carlsbad (California, United States)

The Ring Finders Metal Detector service helped find a lost Gold wedding band at Oceanside beach San Diego Ca. Call 760 889 2751

This wedding ring story started off over 20 years ago when Vlad & his wife got married. But it nearly ended when he was boogie boarding out in the surf and noticed his wedding ring slipped off. This so happened to be their 23rd anniversary day they were celebrating while vacationing here in Oceanside for a short time.

2 Mornings later, Vlad called me after finding my info online asking if I could help. After a few Q’s & concerns I was able to meet him there right away. He showed me the area in the surf but unfortunately there were 2 detectorist’s already there that he told about and the tide was coming up fast compromising the search zone as well. After an hour swinging in & out of the surf with no luck, I knew the best time to find his ring would be the -1.4 low tide at 4:00am the next morning.  So I assured Vlad & his wife that I would come back to continue the search for them as they had to head back home in a few hours.

Upon arrival to the scene of the lost ring before any other metal detecting guys showed up,, I was glad to see how far out the tide was already. The boogie boarding/swimming zone area days before was bone dry now. I knew if it was there, I would find it.

Over an hour later and 3 junk rings that never excites me, I received a signal on my metal detector that finally did…A holy one,,An unmistakable tone or beep.. Then out of the 6-10” deep hole came glistening a hefty 18k gold diamond ring.  Sure enough it was Vlad’s precious gold wedding ring found that morning 3 days later. I even mailed it back to him the same afternoon. You can only imagine how relieved they were and that I could help them find what they thought could be lost forever. The story of his ring can now live on.

Lost Graduation Ring Recovered in Leesville, Louisiana!

Dakota U. and his family and friends had just arrived at a swim area, and while they were applying sun screen, Dakota lost his gold Texas A&M University graduation ring overboard. « We spent an hour on our hands and knees looking for it, » his wife relayed. What should have been a happy outing had turned into gloom.

After doing all they could, he and his wife got in touch with me. They were distraught and had little hope they would ever see it again. However, they had location coordinates for the swim area and a good set of reference lines. I knew I could help them.

We arranged to meet at the boat launch, where we set out on choppy waters toward our target zone. When we anchored in waist-deep water, I immediately set to work, walking lines and listening for good signals.

After about an hour, we saw a little water snake pop up nearby. To get a closer look at it, I walked toward it, still swinging away and listening. As soon as the snake submerged, I got a big signal from my detector. Our little search party gathered around, and I knelt down and brought up the target. They knew I had got it by the smiles on my face. Next we were all smiling as I opened handful of rocks, revealing his gold ring!

Making smiles and new friends is why I enjoy the art and science of metal detection so much. This is what it is truly all about.

Heirloom ring lost at La Jolla Shores found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Alex lives by UCSD and had come the short distance down the hill to La Jolla Shores to spend a day at the beach. Just a simple act of running his hands through his hair  caused a ring he got from his grandfather to fly off his finger and disappear into the dry sand. He searched for hours, but, couldn’t find it. He went home discouraged, but, around 1am did an online search and found TheRingFinders.com and my contact info. For some reason, I didn’t hear the phone ring and didn’t notice it until about 2am. I texted him back and we made arrangements to meet at the location. At the site, Alex showed me the search area and what he was doing to make the ring come off. After 15 minutes and a few false alarms, I got the nice smooth 17 signal on my Equinox I was waiting for. A happy Alex can now go home to bed, as I welcomed the same. A pleasure to meet you Alex and thanks for the reward.
