Gold Ring Lost in Backyard of a Long Beach, CA. Private Residence

*** Will was building a storage shed in his backyard. Later that evening while inside his house he noticed his gold wedding ring was not on his finger. He never felt it come off. This is normal because when people wear rings for many years, the ring can still feel like it’s on.

He called me explaining the circumstances of his loss. He couldn’t remember exactly when he last saw the ring before discovering his ring missing. It could be anywhere. We set up a day that I could search his backyard as that was where he had done a lot of activity, moving construction materials with high grass that could hide a small gold ring.

The game plan was to eliminate the backyard using a metal detector. If that was unsuccessful we had many other places that a metal detector may not be able to be used. We didn’t waste time discussing all the other areas the ring could be. It’s a process of elimination, one area at a time. Why get yourself confused with all the possibilities.

Metal detectors are a great tool for finding lost rings, but they do have limitations. So I used the my metal detector in the yard, where it works the best.

Sometimes you start in the right place, which was what happened this day.. 20 minutes in the backyard grass .. BOOM!  Will’s gold ring was found near his small construction project.

He was inside at the time of the recovery. When he came out to see how I was doing , I was able to surprise him.. and able to show him where it had been hiding.

Grandfather’s Gold Crucifix Lost in Grassy Area, Found and Returned Leland, NC

A little after 11am this morning, the 21st of March, I got a message from fellow Ring Finder, Steve Ray. The message said “I just got a call about a lost cross where he knows the area, along, but not in a lake. Leland NC, if you’re interested. I’m in Ohio.” Steve also sent a text from the owner, along with a phone number. I messaged Steve back saying, “Yea, I can take it.” I called the number in the text and didn’t get an answer, so I left a voice mail. Within seconds, Matt, the owner, called me back and I got additional information. He agreed with me coming to search, and I told him I’d be there in about an hour.

When I arrived, Matt was standing on the balcony of the apartment and came right down to the parking lot.  As we’re walking out to the area, he explained that when he woke up this morning, he needed to get something out of the car. At the time, his wife had the car keys, and she was out in a back area of the apartments with the dogs. So, he had walked out to get the keys from his wife. While he was out there, he felt the chain break that was holding the Crucifix. He grabbed the chain and thought the Crucifix fell out of his shirt on the ground. He also stated that he searched the area numerous times. He also searched the bedroom, bathroom and rest of the apartment with no luck. As he’s taking me to the area, I searched his path both visually and with the Nox 800. When we got to where he said the chain broke, I started a grid search. It was a small area, maybe 10×20 foot square. Both sides of the area had wire fencings. I checked those areas, which was mostly leaves with my pin pointer. As I’m searching, all of a sudden, he says, “Thank You for coming” and he had a big smile on his face. It only meant one thing! As I turned around to see what he was talking about, he put both hands on my shoulder and squeezed my shoulders. He pointed to the ground, and I could see the Crucifix, which was well blended in with the ground. I love it when things work out for the best. On the way back to my car, Matt told me the Crucifix originally belonged to his grandfather. When Matt’s grandparents hit their 50th wedding anniversary, his grandfather had the Crucifix specially engraved and gave it to wife. Both grandparents have passed and it’s all the more sentimental to Matt as a reminder of his Grandparents every day. It was a beautiful story!

DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING LOST IN THE PALISADES FIRE FOUND AND RETURNED

Claudia called me the other day and told me she lost her Diamond engagement ring when her house burned down in the Palisades fire. she put it away in a shirt pocket in the closet.  I followed her and her husband to the property the next day. She showed me were the closet should have been before the fire. I spent about fifteen minutes throwing some heavy pipes and  metal debris out of the way. I  began sifting with a two part screen so I could remove larger pieces of metal and rubble which would allow me to spot a smaller ring in the bottom screen. after a little more than another hour I spotted the ring. I called Claudia’s husband over to show him the ring quietly so he could surprise  his wife. He carried the ring over hidden in his hand. He told her it was a button that she might recognize. When he opened his hand she let out a  scream and did a little happy dance. It was a great feeling to see the couple so happy and surprised. They were a very nice couple. and it was my pleasure to be able to reunite them with there special ring.

*** Joey contacted me needing help to find a diamond engagement his wife lost in ankle deep water at a Southern California Beach. I told him we only had a few hours before high tide. I suggested that he call another detector guy closer to the location.  If the guy couldn’t do the search, call me back.

Joey called me back giving me the general area. I said it would take me about an hour and half to get there. It would be necessary to be able to have Monique present to hear her describe how and where the loss occurred.

We all showed up at the same time. The tide was low enough to use the detector without getting wet.

Monique’s beautiful diamond engagement ring was exactly where she had been collecting sea shells, already 2” deep in wet sand.

Timing is very important especially for losses that happen on public beaches with tides that change from minus -1.0 ft. low tide to plus + 5.6 ft. high tide.

ROLEX WATCH COLLECTION LOST IN THE ALTADENA FIRE FOUND AND RETURNED

Vincent called me and told me that he lost his prized watch collection in the Altadena fire when his house burned down to the ground. he told me  there were over thirty watches in his collection including four Rolexes. He was devastated not only to lose his home of over thirty years but a high end watch collection that took a lifetime to buy. one watch at a time. I met him a few days later and followed him to his property. He showed me the possible locations of his bedroom were the watches were proudly  displayed in a fancy box .  I cut away part of the walls that had collapsed on the area. then began raking and shoveling the debris through a sifting screen. within an hour I started finding Vincent’s watches , one then another then another and so on until I had found all thirty watches including the  four expensive Rolexes and his grandfathers pocket watch. He was amazed that I found all of them. I had to cut away more of the plaster and chicken wire wall before I could search for his wife’s jewelry. within another half hour I found her diamond ring a gold star Saphire ring and two gold bracelets.  I finished the day off with finding most of Vincent’s  silver  coin collection . He thanked me over and over and told me now he had some closure after the disaster and how he was ready to turn the property over to the Army Core Of Engineers to remove all the debris and clear the lot.

Platinum Wedding Ring Lost In The Snow Of Sanford, Maine, Found With A Metal Detector

Back on February 18th, 2025, I received the following message from Jared.

“Hi there, I messaged another page but wasn’t sure if it was the right one. I was knocking down some icicles and it must have slipped off and landed in the snow. Hoping to get your help”!

I replied,
“Hi Jared, So sorry to hear this.
Is it a ring that was lost?
When did this happen?
What town or city did this happen in”?

Jared explained that he had just lost his Platinum Wedding Ring, that very afternoon. I told Jared I would be happy to help and we agreed that I would be out, first thing, in the morning, to his home, in Sanford, Maine.
I arrived promptly at 9:00am and Jared showed me where he was standing, while throwing a boot up to and breaking the icicles off the front of his house. He was certain, the ring would be along the house or front lawn. The snow was extremely deep in the areas, where the ring would have been. I trodded through the deep snow, with my metal detector, in the front and side of the house. Absolutely nothing close to being a platinum ring was detected. I then searched the driveway that also had snow and ice. Still no ring. After an hour and I half, I told Jared that the snow was just to deep, in the areas he thought the ring would be and that I would come back, once the snow had receded or melted.
On March 8th I sent a message to Jared, how the snow was looking, at his house. He told me that the snow was melting but still significant, along the front of the house. He told me probably be much better in two weeks.
So, the next week I messaged him again and he told me about 4 inch of snow remained on the ground. We then agreed that I would go back to his home on Wednesday, March 19th and search the area again. I also told him, I would be bringing my friend, Gary Hill, to help search the area. With two of us, we would be able to search all around the house, on the outside chance, the ring flew up onto the roof and down the other side, into the backyard. You just never know and I wanted to cover all the bases, as the saying goes.
Gary and I arrived and we talked to Jared again, about the events leading up to him losing his ring. He was throwing the boot, up towards the icicles, underhanded and was certain the ring would be in the front of the house, as he wasn’t throwing the boot, with full force. The snow was all gone, except a few small spots, that I shoveled. Gary and I searched along the house, sides of the house and the backyard of the house. No ring was found. We also removed flower boxes, from their holder and searched them. We looked in and under all the bushes. Still no ring. It was mentioned and asked, if the ring could have been on the other side of the driveway, in the wooded area. I didn’t think it was possible because that would place the ring, 30 or 40 feet in the opposite direction, that the boot was being thrown. But as I thought about it, was it possible the ring landed in the side driveway and then plowed up into the snowbank, that was still partially there? Unlikely, but possible. So Gary and I started on opposite ends of the driveway and started searching. No ring found on the driveway side of the snow bank. We then moved to the backside of the snow bank, approaching the wooded area. Less than a minute, on the backside, I heard a faint signal and when I looked up in front of my coil, I saw a ring. I couldn’t believe it. I took a few photos, of the ring, as I found it, in the grass, just inches from the snow bank. I had Gary go get Jared to see exactly where the ring was found. Jared was extremely happy the ring was found and couldn’t believe it was found on the backside of the snow bank. The only plausible explanation is the snowplow had plowed it, up into the very large snow bank, back in February. We will never know for sure how it ended up there but it doesn’t matter. Jared has his ring back and he genuinely thanked Gary and I for our persistence.
So fortunate to be able to help people like Jared out, in their time of need. Another smile for the books😁❤️🙏

Aaron and Kim met me to put me in the general area. “Boom” a quick recovery.

Saved from the Beach King which makes its first run right down the towel line before 5 am.. I love beating the Beach King to find a cherished wedding ring.

Engagement Ring Lost in Yard, Freehold NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

Jim contacted me via email about finding a ring that had been lost in his yard the day before. I replied and asked him to call me, which he did. During our conversation, he explained that he had hosted a large outdoor party with many guests, and at the end of the evening, Brenda realized her engagement ring was missing. She was certain she had worn it to the party but couldn’t find it the next morning. After an extensive search of his yard without success, Jim decided to reach out for help.

We arranged to meet the following day around dinnertime. When I arrived, Jim explained that the party had been quite lively, with a lot of drinking and horsing around, which likely led to Brenda’s ring falling off. He showed me the area where most of the guests had been, and I decided to start near the house and work my way outward.

As I searched, I picked up no promising signals and began to feel concerned. I asked Jim a few more questions about where Brenda might have been during the party. He mentioned it was possible she had wandered near the pool or further into the yard, but most of the activity had taken place in the side yard.

I continued my search in the side yard, and just as I was nearing the end of the area, I got a sweet, unmistakable tone. I immediately suspected it was the ring. Sure enough, after clearing away a bit of grass, I uncovered Brenda’s engagement ring, just an inch below the surface.

Another happy ending that could have easily been a disaster. Jim and Brenda were thrilled, and I was glad to have played a part in recovering such an important piece of jewelry.

Property Pin located in West Kelowna BC

June moved into her West Kelowna home 1 year ago, now it is time to start renovations, starting with a fence. However it is not a new home and the Survey pins are hidden, June found me on « The Ringfinders » and gave me a call for assistance. I responded the next day with my Metal Detector. the lot is an odd shape so the backyard was difficult to locate, the front yard had a large tree on both fronts, the one on the left was overgrown, the one on the right was large but groomed back. I stated searching by the utilities and Water shut off. A few old targets, but no pin so I moved around the supposedly neighbours tree and there it was 12 inches away from the tree. Now June can get a lot blueprint and measure from that pin.
