Lost Gold Honeymoon Ring in Aulani Lagoon Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

This ring hunt began on November 11, 2018 when I got a text from Paul from Moreno Valley California. While on vacation and enjoying the day boogie boarding in Aulani Lagoon Paul’s Gold Ring slipped off and disappeared in about 8 feet of water. Paul told me his wife bought the ring for him while on their Hawaii honeymoon 20 years ago. I figured this would be an easy scuba hunt. I searched at least three times on scuba in the area Paul thought it was lost but I didn’t find his Gold ring. Then this past Saturday while scuba detecting for another ring in the Aulani lagoon I found what I thought was Paul’s ring. It had been nearly 5 months so I texted a picture to Paul to confirm. Bingo! It was the ring indeed. I mailed the ring on April Fool’s Day and as you can see in the pic above the ring is back on Paul’s finger in California today. So glad to make this return. Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Kawela Bay…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a text from Mark who was vacationing on Oahu from Calgary Canada. While enjoying the day at Kawela Bay he was hitting a volley ball to his daughter on the beach when during one of the returns he felt his Platinum Wedding Band fly off. He wasn’t exactly sure but was fairly certain it went into the shallow water along the beach. Not greater than 3 feet deep. Since it was late we decided to meet at the Bay at first light. When I arrived Mark was already there so we went straight to the beach. I started in the wet sand and worked my way into the water. The wet sand was sterile and I didn’t find a single target. But as I entered the water at the low tide mark the Equinox started going crazy with tones. Every piece of metal trash was waiting for me. Knowing a decent size Platinum Ring had been 16/17 on the Nox I decided to ignore the other targets. Occasionally and more often then I preferred I had to dig some trash and that was taking some time. After about 45 minutes I could see Mark was getting nervous I hadn’t found the ring. The hunt area was only 20 feet into the water but I decided to start a little deeper. After about 15 minutes I got a banging tone 16/17 on the Nox. I scooped once and there in the scoop was Mark’s ring but I wasn’t sure it was his as he didn’t describe the grooves to me. I said I think I found it and Mark confirmed with enthusiasm that it was indeed his ring. Vacation back on track. Aloha to Mark!

Men’s Wedding Ring Returned at Hilton Waikaloa, Hawaii

Nathan and his wife were playing with their son in the lagoon at Hilton Waikaloa while on holiday from California.

Nathan sat in the shallow water next to the sun loungers and dug out sand like a construction digger to the joy of his son. To his own dismay, he realized his platinum wedding ring was missing. Trying to dig again led to nothing – no ring at all.

I got to the hotel early the next morning only to find that the Lavaman Kid’s race was being held in the exact spot his ring had gone missing. Hundreds of little feet were running over-and-over the spot in the water…

Once the event had wrapped up, I got out the detector and looked in the tight area Nathan was sure he’d lost the ring at. Nothing but coins, buttons and the usual stuff lost out of people’s pockets in water. I was using the Garrett Sea Hunter, which as a pulse-induction machine in the water, finds everything even the smallest objects. I searched for an hour with no luck.

It’s our experience that as sure as people are where they lost their treasure, the human mind and memory needs some extra feet added to a search area… I got out the Minelab Excal and broadened my search, this time adding about 20 feet to either side of the lagoon’s beach. I was starting to suspect that the ring may have kicked up during the kid’s race and someone may have found it.

The newly expanded search area yielded a cache of coins all in ankle-deep water. I dug a penny, then a dime, then a quarter. Nathan had been standing in the water watching. I thought to myself that it was a good « sign » – the coins seemed to be increasing in value (and weight) so the next find should be a ring! Seconds later I got a great tone and sure enough, it was Nathan’s ring.

Nathan gave me a hug, shook my hand and said he’d thought it was as good as lost! Overjoyed to find it for him – vacation saved!

Gold Ring Lost in Wilmington Found

Jeff contacted me about a wedding band lost behind his parents house.  He explained it is located in the marsh of the Intracoastal Waterway.  My first search with him present was unsuccessful due to the large amounts of reeds & weeds growing from the soft muck sand.  I returned shortly afterwards with a new approach and attitude and this time was able to pick up a brief tone in a thick section of reeds.  Resolving to not let any signal go unchecked, I was able to locate the gold ring and send Jeff the good news!

Lost Silver & Diamonds Wedding Band at Ko Olina Lagoon 4…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when a young lady approached me in the water detecting and asked if I could find her girlfriend Christina’s Wedding Ring in the sand on the beach where they were enjoying the sunny day. I said sure and followed her over to the area. She introduced me to Christina whose husband is currently deployed overseas on the USS Preble Guided Missile Destroyer. While sitting on a blanket Christina lifted a towel in which her ring was in over her head and the ring flew out into the sand and disappeared. We cleared out the area of towels and beach stuff and I started my search. In 10 seconds I got a steady 5/6 on the Equinox just over the blankets edge. One small scoop and there was Christina’s wedding ring in the scoop. Total elation and relief was her reaction especially on how quick I found the ring. Lets just say I’m a decent operator with an awesome Equinox! Aloha to Christina.

Lost Wedding Ring in Sicklerville NJ Found by Dave Milsted

I received an email overnight asking for help in finding a lost wedding band. I asked the usual questions, when, how, where, type of ring, what is the ring made of?

Nicole’s husband was doing yard work earlier in the week and noticed when he was done that his ring was missing. They believe it might be in a huge pile of leaves. The property is about a half an acre. They have searched with no luck. I agreed to do a search Saturday afternoon.

I arrived at the house and there were 2 people in a car in front of the house, obviously searching for something. It was Nicole’s parents looking for the ring. No luck. I met Nicole and asked her to show me the possible locations that the ring might be.

She showed me a large pile of leaves. It was large. I asked to see the back yard. We walked through the gate and stopped as she explained where her husband was working. As she was explaining I looked down to see how thick the grass was, and there was the ring.

No metal detector was used and I found it in less than 1 minute. Nicole couldn’t believe it. She said everyone has looked and couldn’t found it. Her parents were amazed. It took longer for me to put my equipment into my truck than it did to find the ring.

Lost University of Pennsylvania Ring Found in Haddon Township NJ By Dave Milsted

This story starts 47 years ago when a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania Nursing program loses her graduation ring in the ocean in Stone Harbor. She has never forgotten that day.

5 months ago her best friend gave her a gold necklace to melt down to make a new ring. The ring was made and worn every day since.

This week the ring was loose on her finger so she put it in her coat pocket. When she got home she shook dog hair from her coat and heard the ring hit the cement. Her yard is yellow with zoysia grass. The yellow gold ring was lost. Her husband spent 2 days on his hands and knees looking through the thick grass with no luck.

He searched the internet and found me. My wife and I went to their house the next day. They told me their story and I went to work. I searched the area that they pointed me to. No luck. I moved to the other side of the sidewalk and bingo.

10 minutes of search time. The ring is back on her finger. She will be going back to the jeweler to have it resized. My wife made a new friend. She did not want her picture taken.

I will be searching for the original!!

Lost Tungsten and Palladium Ring Found In Yard In Sterling Heights Michigan

Alley OOPS!

During halftime Saturday between Michigan and Michigan State the pictured man and his children hit their backyard court for some 2 on 2 hoopin’ and during the excitement as he caught the passed ball with feet up off the ground to slam dunk his tungsten palladium ring flew off.
Minutes were ticking away before the second half of the real game was back on and as he sat down he noticed the ring missing. So for a couple days he reenacted what was going on and couldn’t find the ring. Part of the trajectory they thought put the ring out into the road area and a grass island.
They even raked up last Octobers leaves and still no ring. When I talked with him Tuesday night we agreed to meet today and go over the area with my metal detector. He was at work and was going to be on his way so a relative and I went over where they thought the ring could be. It didn’t take me long to sweep the area in question with my bigfoot coil but nothing came up. The relative went back into the house for a few while I thought out a new strategy. Since I covered where they thought it could be I thought maybe someone saw it in the street and walked off with it. But my feeling was to check back behind the net and wood privacy fence. As I did a grid search I was running out of ground when suddenly about 10 feet from the back of the net I got a nice +47 signal and I knew from past tungsten ring finds this had to be it! Firing up the Garrett carrot and running it over the grass I got a nice vibration and sifting thru the grass and leaves revealed this stunning tungsten and palladium ring! I texted him the pic as he was already on the road coming home and was super thrilled! So even tho their team didn’t get the win, we had a real win on the home court…turning March Madness to March Gladness!

Lost gold chain and cross in Lake Burkett, Winter Park, Fl……Found!

Miguel was enjoying a warm spring day on his family’s dock with some friends and as they were getting ready to head up to the house, he asked one of his friends to toss him his shirt. Earlier, Miguel had laid his shirt across the back of a lawn chair and also had removed his gold chain and cross and placed it on top of his shirt. (This chain was very special to him as it was a gift from his mom 12 years ago and he has worn it ever since!) As his friend grabbed the shirt the chain slipped off and fell directly thru a crack between the deck boards of the dock. Miguel did not actually see the chain fall but he was able to hear the sound of his chain and cross as it fell into the dark waters below the dock. Stunned, he could not believe what had just happened! He mustered the courage to get into the cold water and made his way under the dock. There were lots of underwater plants growing up from the muddy bottom making it very difficult for Miguel as he tried to feel with his hands and his feet. Numerous shells, sticks and leaves mixed into the silty bottom was a very discouraging place to have lost his precious chain and cross. He searched for a while and soon realized the futility plus he was getting very chilled so he climbed out and tried to think of what to do next. This led him to do a search online for « How to find a gold chain underwater » and thankfully « theringfinders.com » website came up. He clicked on one of my recovery stories and decided to give me a call.
The next day I met Miguel and he explained what happened and showed me exactly where the chain fell thru the crack in the dock deck. After suiting up I slid into the cold, dark water and made my way directly under the dock where Miguel figured his gold chain fell. There were allot of signals in the mud but one signal in particular sounded sharp and clear on my Garrett ATMax and after sifting out all the mud, shells and sticks there was his lost gold cross and chain! It was an honor to help Miguel and to see the joy on his face as he was reunited once again with his special gift. Maybe you have lost something recently or even years ago! Give me a call ASAP!
