I was attending the Night Lights Lantern Festival at Cedar Lake Cellars in Wright City, Missouri in October 2025. There were about 1000 people there and we were in a very large grassy field. Because the weather was a little colder, the ring had slipped off my finger somewhere near where we were sitting that evening. Luckily, I took a few photos and was able to determine the exact GPS coordinates from apples map function from the photo. I was able to get permission from the winery personnel to search the property and sure enough you found the ring within 10 feet of where the GPS coordinates from the photo indicated. I was shocked and very very excited. that ring had been there all winter and spring and now it’s back in my possession. The ring was very special to me and still is and now it has more of a story. I can’t begin to thank you enough.

Gold and Diamond Pendant Lost In The Scarborough Maine Beach Sand, Found With A Metal Detector

On Thursday, June 3rd, I received a phone call at approximately 1:30 PM. John was in desperate need of my services after his necklace had broken.

He and a group of friends were enjoying their day at Ferry Beach, Scarborough, ME, when the chain snapped and his Gold and Diamond pendant vanished into the sand. John and his friends had already spent 45 frantic minutes searching the area around their setup, but unfortunately, the diamond pendant was nowhere to be found.
I told John I would be there in 30-40 minutes, depending on Route 1 traffic, through Saco, Maine and the Town of Scarborough, Maine. He mentioned he had a pretty good idea of where it dropped—about a 10’ x 10’ area. A small space like that should be quick… if the pendant was actually there!
Cheryl and I left as soon as I gathered up my equipment, and Cheryl loaded up her beach chair. If this recovery turned out to be a long one, she was going to enjoy the beautiful afternoon on the beach! 🏖️
Once we arrived, John met us in the parking lot. He and his friends were set up at an area of the beach known as “The Point.” I knew « The Point » well—I actually recovered an engagement ring for a client there a few years back!
After a short 5-10 minute walk from the parking lot, we arrived at the group’s location. John and a few friends pointed to an area between a backpack and a sign. A couple of other friends thought it was closer to the beach towels.
As you all know by now, I do not like to jump around while performing a search. I strictly grid search from Point A to Point B. Because of that, I decided to start at the towels and work my way toward the backpack and sign so I wouldn’t have to double back.
Just before swinging, I placed a small gold ring in the sand to calibrate my metal detector and let the client see and hear exactly what tone I was looking for. Calibration finished, it was time to hunt.
I had taken exactly 8 steps when I heard it—the unmistakable low tone of gold.
Could this really be the pendant after just 18 seconds of searching? 🤔
As I probed the warm sand with my pinpointer, I found the target. The moment the group saw it, screams of “Oh my God!” and “That was so fast!” rang out across the beach. Arms went into the air and applause broke out.
Relief, happiness, and big smiles—it never gets old. Always a feel-good moment!
So, even though Cheryl never even got the chance to set up her beach chair, I consider a fast recovery a great day. Another precious pendant is right back where it belongs. We truly have the best job in the world, and I love what I do!

This latest recovery starts the way most of them do, I received a text from Troy stating he had lost his ring. He was at a city park playing with his kid when he went to bounce a ball and his ring flew off. When I talked to Troy he told me he heard it hit the cement and bounce. It was later in the day and I was going to be in the city the next afternoon. Troy was good with that but he went and got a metal detector so he could search himself in the meantime.

I arrived the next day and met Troy. He had been searching for the ring but to no avail. I told him I would do my best. Troy had a few things to do so he went back home. I started to search and being a city park as you can imagine it was very noisy with a lot of trash. I slowed down and tweaked my settings but nothing seemed to help. Eventually I went back to the car and switched to my smaller coil hoping the better discrimination might help. It had been more than a few hours of searching and I had kept expanding my search area. I was just about to give up when I got a hit and there it was. I am pretty sure I was over that same area with my big coil. Anyway, I felt great because I was about to toss in the towel.  I sent Troy a text that I found his ring. Then we spoke on the phone and he could not believe it. I made arrangements and we met and I returned Troy’s ring. He was very happy to have his wedding band back. As always it was great to meet another kind and generous client and be able to recover and return their lost ring.

Faith messaged me asking if I could come out and help recover her father Mark’s ring, which had somehow disappeared into the sand. After getting a few details, I told them I’d head right over. In the meantime, I asked them to keep the area secure so no one would set up chairs where they had been sitting.

When I arrived on the beach, Mark walked me through exactly what happened. He had taken his ring off and placed it in the top pocket of his shirt, which he had laid on top of the cooler for safekeeping. After a few hours of enjoying the beach and doing a little swimming, he put his shirt back on and started to take a walk. As he was walking, he reached for the pocket and realized the ring was gone.

We searched the immediate area around the chairs first, but had no luck. Then I had Mark retrace the path he believed he had taken toward the lifeguard chair. Still nothing. I searched all the way up to the tide line and even worked a little into the waves, but the ring still didn’t turn up.

We regrouped and went over every detail again, but nothing changed. So I decided to work a little farther down the slope into the water, about knee-deep. Sure enough, just a few steps from his chair and in the same direction he had walked, I got the hit. Mark’s ring was already about 10 inches down in the soft sand.

A little recovery work and a little detective work saved the day on this one.

Received a call from Ken. Ken explained that he was in Cape May enjoying some time on the beach with his family. While playing with his son, Ken felt his ring « fling off » his finger, immediately disappearing into the sand. Ken and his wife searched the area for over an hour, but came up empty handed. Luckily, after a brief google search, Ken landed on Ring Finders Cape May. I met the couple on the beach first thing the next morning and we headed down to the high tide line. It was obvious that the tide had washed over the area overnight. I began carefully searching the area and recovered Kens ring in about 5 minutes. Another happy couple!

Antique Earring Lost and Found on Santa Cruz Beach

Last week I searched but was unfortunately unable to help a couple find their lost engagement ring at Santa Cruz Main Beach, but the very next day a bystander who saw me looking for the ring and actually spoke with me during the search lost her beautiful antique silver earring on Cowell’s Beach.  The earring was part of a set including a necklace and had sentimental value as well.  We talked through the details and due to the tides and tourist traffic agreed to meet on a Friday at 6:00 am on the beach where she suspected her earring was lost.

When we met she described the location that she sat in with her family and another location where she walked from, suspecting that the highest probability location was where she walked from and next where she sat on the beach next.  We went to the highest probability location and within about 10 minutes I had a lone signal in the range that I suspected.  I dug and sure enough found her earring only about 5 feet from where she suspected it was lost.

It’s great to have enough community recognition of the jewelry finding process that we can help people who are informed about how a search is done and what is needed to assist quickly and effectively.

I received a call from Lisa asking if I would be able to help locate a ring she had lost earlier in the day while enjoying a beautiful afternoon in Seaside Park, New Jersey.

Lisa explained that while applying lotion, she had removed her ring and placed it in the cupholder of her beach chair. It wasn’t until later—after they had already driven home—that she realized the ring was missing. She and her group immediately began searching everywhere, and even made the drive back to Seaside Park in hopes of finding it. They tried using a metal detector, but unfortunately had no luck.

After hearing her story, I assured Lisa that if the ring was still in the area she described, I was confident I could recover it. I arrived shortly after and began searching the area after removing the chairs and belongings from the spot.

Within just a few minutes, I had Lisa’s beautiful ring in my scoop and back on her finger. Her relief and excitement said it all!

Ridgewood, New Jersey Lost silver ring found

Kaelyn was at the pool with her son when she realized her ring was gone! She had purchased her silver ring when she was 16 years old while she was in 10th grade. The sentimental value was much higher than its monetary value.
We met to search and after a short description of where she had been on the beach, I began my search. My first signal turned out to be the ring! Kaelyn was extremely excited and happy that I had found it.Another success for the Ringfinders!

Lost ring while swimming. Found!!!

Received a call from a gentleman who was on a family outing swimming with his daughter. They slid down the rock at the falls and the ring came off when they hit the water. He tried several times to dive down and find it, but the cold mountain water and rapids made it too hard.  It stayed there for ten days until he found me. He called and I was able to head up to where the ring was lost. After gearing up and getting in the water I found the ring exactly where he said it would be already buried deep in the sand. So glad to get this one back to its rightful owner.

Gold Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned in Wilmington, DE!!!

Jim reached out to me after finding me in the Ring Finders directory. He was saddened and upset to notice his 37 year old wedding band had disappeared off his finger…when, where and how it disappeared was a mystery to him. The only thing he could think of was that it fell off while he was doing some yard work (taking his gloves on and off) in his backyard in Wilmington, DE several days earlier. He figured it was long shot and had little confidence it would be found but decided to give a professional a shot. He also spent several hours searching himself on his hands and knees. I arrived at his home that Sunday afternoon…as I always do…I demonstrated with my metal detector and my own wedding band what a gold band would sound like if I went over it. I want my clients to know that if they put me over the missing ring…I wont miss it! Jim showed me the area he was working…it was part backyard lawn and part woods…not a large search area. I was 10 minutes into the search and had covered 90% of the yard when…BOOM…there was the signal I was hoping for in the deep grass. I looked down and I could see the ring in the deep grass…I asked Jim who was standing nearby…if I could ask him another question…when he came over I pointed down and asked « is that your ring? » The relief and joy on his face was priceless!!!
