I was contacted by Carolina, a resident of Missouri City, Texas who was looking for someone to help her find her lost engagement ring.
Carolina reported that three years ago on the 4th of July, she had lost her engagement ring in the backyard of her home. Carolina said three years after the loss, she had searched the backyard extensively and had no luck at finding her lost ring. Carolina said, since then she has rented a metal detector on two different occasions to search for the ring but has had no luck finding the ring.
Carolina said this year during the 4th of July she had mentioned the loss of her ring to a friend…and her friend said that her father had lost a ring, and found a guy from The Ring Finders-John Volek– Houston Metal Detecting Services had found it for him
Carolina said she never knew such a service existed and immediately searched the internet and placed the call. Carolina outlined the details on how the ring was lost and all the previous attempts that were made to locate her lost ring.
Plans were made to meet Carolina at her home on July 5th to search and hopefully return her lost ring.

Three Prized Possession Lost During a Kayaking Fishing Incident Tigerville Park Lake Livingston, Texas
I was contacted by William, a resident of Houston who was looking for someone to help him find some very important items lost in about 10 foot of water in Lake Livingston, Texas
William reported he had been Kayak fishing at Tigerville Park in Lake Livingston when he had the misfortunate of over-turning his Kayak in about 10 feet of water. William said he lost a few very important items, one being his wedding band, a fishing pole, and a kayak fishing chair.
William said he had some very specific landmarks; due to the fact he was only about 20 yards away from the shoreline when he over-turned. William also said, following the incident he waded back out into the water and tried to locate the chair and fishing pole to establish a base point. William said the water became deep quickly and he was unsuccessful at determining the exact location but new he was very close.
William said following a little internet research he found The Ring Finders – Houston Metal Detecting Services and placed the call.
After gathering some additional information, and receiving a few site photos from William plans were made to meet at Tigerville Park the following day.

Lost Pandora Charm Finds It’s Way Back To Her Wrist In Fredericton, NB

I can’t put it in any better words, so here is Genevieve’s own story.

« It’s back on my wrist where it belongs. I can’t even.

First of all, I’ve never been one to be overly emotionally attached to a piece of jewelry. I mean I like my jewelry, but emotional attachment, not so much. If I lost something, I’d be disappointed… but this. This one means so much. It was a surprise gift to me from my band students at our big Playhouse concert last spring. It brought tears to my eyes when they gave it to me and it brought tears of a different sort when I thought it was gone forever.

The fact that it’s back? Here’s how unlikely that is:

I had a nearly 12 hour window in which I may have lost it. During that time, I walked the length of Queen St, danced my ass off at the Mojo tent in numerous locations along with thousands of others on ground where a TINY piece of jewelry would immediately and easily be pushed underground and then I walked up Regent, down King, along Carleton, through the Blues tent and back to the TD Tower parking garage.

When Jennifer tagged Steve Bober he didn’t see it for some reason. I didn’t know that. Suzanne suggested I post to Fredericton Lost and Found. Steve saw my post. I didn’t know that. He didn’t know he’d been tagged for this already by Jen. He sent me a message which I didn’t see. He went to the Mojo tent without having connected with me. Without having me tell him where I had spent my time in the tent. Without knowing my time window for the loss was nearly 12 hours. And he found it.

He found it!

He then tagged me on the lost & found page post I had made. I didn’t see it. He also put up a post of his own telling about how he had found it. Then a friend tagged me. THAT I saw. By the time I responded to that with a « Wait, what?!? », he was trolling through people who knew us both trying to figure out how to let me know that he had my charm.

Steve delivered it to my studio this afternoon.

Megana called this morning, she had been at the beach last night, taken her rings off to put in her bag, and when she got home realized they were not in the bag. One of the rings was given to her as the only granddaughter of her grandfather. That ring had been his mother’s mothers ring. The other ring had been given to her by her mother, so these rings had a very important significance to her.  The only place she could think they were was in the sand on the beach. She wanted to know if I could come and help her find them. I was worried after asking some questions that the county beach sifters had gotten them already, but told her that I would be there as soon as possible.

When I got to the beach, I could see the sifting machines working the beach, and my heart sunk. I asked Megana if the sand where she believed the rings were lost was smooth, and she told me no, so I encouraged her to stand in the area, and make the machine go around her if necessary so it would not get her rings, which she agreed to do as I assembled my equipment. When I reached the spot she showed me where she had been, and where she moved around to. There was a group of mothers with their children for a day at the beach that were in the area as well, and they agreed to move if necessary in order for me to do a thorough search. I made about 8 passes in my grid, finding bottle caps, tent stakes, and numerous other pieces of metal. On the 9th pass I got a good solid signal, scooped, and there in the bottom were Megana’s 2 rings. I held them up, and she ran over so surprised and happy that they had been found. She told me that she was unable to sleep very well last night, but I knew she would have a good night’s sleep this night! What a great day!

I got a call from Bryan last night. He had lost his iPhone at the beach earlier, and was in desperate need of assistance. He had buried it earlier in order to go in the water and not have to worry about someone walking off with it. It happened to be a work phone, and he was on a business trip from out of state, scheduled to leave today with the boarding pass on the phone. I told him I would be there as soon as possible, so as not leave the phone there until the morning when the county sifting machines would go through, and the phone would be forever gone.

When I got there Bryan took me to the area of the loss, and I could see he had spent a good amount of time gridding the area, but without any luck. I started my search, and on my first pass, got a large signal, dug a little, and retrieved Bryan’s phone. He was very happy, but did not want his picture taken, so as not to be known for losing his company’s phone; understood.

Diamond Rings Lost in Los Angeles Yard… Found and Returned

Martha called me to see if I was available to do a search for her wedding band and engagement ring. They had been thrown during an argument (which is not uncommon), and believed to have fallen somewhere in her yard. I let her know I would be there that day to do the search for her.

When I got there Martha showed me the backyard which was mostly swimming pool with a rather small patch of dirt and grass at the other end. She said they had searched the pool, and also spent a lot of time searching the dirt which was soft, and could have hidden the rings, so I went to work. I searched the area with no luck. I then went over the area again in case I had missed something; nothing again. I told her the rings were not in her yard, so we may need to go and ask the neighbor behind her for permission to search her yard, which she agreed to do. We got to the neighbor’s door, and Martha spoke with her (the neighbor only spoke Spanish). Then the craziest thing happened. The neighbor told Martha she found the rings, and threw them away in her trash can! I couldn’t believe it, and felt like yelling out, ARE YOU CRAZY, but kept my cool in order to gain favor with this lady. Anyway she led us to her trash can, and after pulling out about 5 or 6 bags of trash there were 2 rings; one was Martha’s wedding band, the other was a ring the lady happened to also find; a cheap stainless ring. We still needed to find the engagement ring, so we asked if we could search the rest of her yard, which she agreed to. I began on the grass, and then searched the flower beds; nothing again. The lady told Martha she was getting impatient with us there, and was hinting to have us leave, but Martha pressed a little more. It was then the lady looked into a bucket on her patio (that was covered), and saw the engagement ring. The ring had bounced under the covered patio into the bucket; amazing! Anyway, sometimes our process is a process of elimination, and being able to tell a person where their ring isn’t, instead of where it is, in order to proceed to look elsewhere for a successful recovery. Needless to say Martha was very relieved and happy to have her rings back.

I received an email from Jessica in the late afternoon. She had been surfing at the beach with the board leash on her wrist, when a wave hit her and yanked the board, and pulled her engagement ring off of her finger into the « washing machine » froth and was gone. She had only been engaged for 3 months, and had only moved to California two days prior from Philadelphia. What a blow this caused to her emotions for certain. I looked at the tide chart, and could see that I would have to wait about 4 hours to go back at the lower tide. It would be dark, but that does not hinder the search process. we emailed back and forth, so I could narrow down the search area as much as possible, because she was not going to be able to meet me there for the search. I let her know I was going, and that I would let her know one way or the other if the search was successful.

I got down to the beach about an hour before the low tide to do the search. Jessica had sent me a picture of her ring so I knew what I was looking for. I got my phone out, looked at the mapped picture Jessica had sent me, and started just outside the perimeter, and worked my way in, working into about waste deep water then back out again. After about 5 or 6 passes, I got a good low tone signal dug, and in the beam of my headlight, I could see the sparkle of diamonds and I knew I had success. I sent an email to let her know I had found her ring, but she did not see it until the next morning, in which she was very happy. We arranged to meet at the beach for a return, and her fiancé accompanied her for the return, it was a special time of joy and smiles. That smile is what this service is all about!

Lost Mother’s ring in Swan Lake Maine results in a double recovery.

Jennie was wise in remembering to remove the platinum mother’s ring from her finger, giving it to her husband Wade to keep in his zippered pocket while she was waterskiing. Unfortunately  after returning back to their camp Wade jumped into the lake to move a swim float, at some point his pocket became unzipped and the ring came out  Wade showed wisdom too in contacting a ring finder for help. The search took about 5 hours as there were many targets in the waters of this 100+ year old lake house . Having used both of my air tanks the first day, I told Wade I wanted to come back and continue my search. I returned to the site a few days later and found the ring buried in silt, about twenty minutes after starting my search. Although the ring matched the description, I sent a photo and called Wade to confirm. Wade informed me that it was the ring and how happy they were that it was found. Since I still had plenty of air I asked Wade If I could stay and continue to search the area. Wade said sure, I told him I would let him know if I found anything cool. I ended up finding a second ring, a sterling silver men’s band buried 7 inches in sand and sent a photo of it to Wade. It was a cool find because it turned out to be Wade’s wedding band which he had lost 10 years earlier. Even cooler was the fact that both rings were recovered on the day of their 12th wedding anniversary. A portion of the generous reward I received is being donated to the Area Interfaith Outreach- Child Hunger Program in Rockland, ME which provides take home meals for children to eat on weekends and vacations when they don’t have access to school provided breakfast and lunch.

Lost Gold Wedding Bands in Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began on August 26th when I received a text from Mihai who was visiting Hawaii from Portland Oregon. While swimming in Ulua Lagoon in about five feet of water Mihai felt his two Gold Wedding Bands come off. One was Yellow Gold and the other White Gold. The depth depending on tide would most likely require scuba. After three grid search dives I didn’t find the rings. Then on Friday September 6th while detecting in shallow water at Ulua Lagoon I found a Gold Men’s Wedding Band and sent the pic to Mihai for confirmation. As you can see in the pic it was a perfect fit and obviously his ring. Hopefully I can find the White Gold ring real soon. Aloha to Mihai!

Lost White Gold Ring with Diamonds Found in Royal Oak Michigan

Lil’ Big Wheels….

……Is what this pictured mom refers to her cutie daughter as when she wants to ride her trike. After preschool today the lil’ one was anxious to get home to go for a ride. As mom was taking items into the house , off went the lil’ cutie to cruise the yard. As mom was doing chores, she heard a scream from the back yard. Running out to see what the issue was she saw her daughter had a wipeout and fell off the trike. Mom came running and assisted her off the grass and into the house to settle down and clean up. A couple hours later mom noticed her ring was missing. When I talked with her we agreed to meet this afternoon. I searched the path she ran from the house with no signal from my MXT. After learning the trike had not been moved since the accident I decided to check around the crash scene. Moving the tipped over trike and scanning revealed this very attractive white gold and diamonds ring just below the grass! After returning to the house and returning the ring Mom was thrilled to have it back!
Lil’ Big Wheels was excited to get back on the road and continue learning to ride although Mom is apprehensive for what the future holds regarding riding in traffic, using hand signals and avoiding unfriendly dogs!
