Man’s 14K Gold Wedding Band Lost, Found, and Returned in Myrtle Beach, SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I received a call today from Josh looking for the guy with a metal detector that can find rings. I confirmed he had the right guy, and asked what had happened. He responded that he had given his gold wedding band to his wife, Emily, for safe keeping while they were on the beach. She had put it on her thumb and at some point it slipped off. I asked a few questions including where they were. When he responded they were staying at the Holiday Inn in Myrtle Beach, I knew I’d have to get a hold of Matt Fry. Since Matt’s The Ring Finder for Myrtle Beach, any calls I get for that area I pass to him. When I called, he said he was in the middle of something and to go ahead and take the call, thanks Matt. I called Josh back and told him I’d be there in 30-45 minutes.

Vacation time is definitely back in full swing at Myrtle Beach. Traffic was bumper to bumper, and parking was non-existent. I grabbed a parking spot in the hotel parking lot, and stopped by the front desk to let them know, so my car wouldn’t get towed. As I walked out on the beach, I saw a couple waving at me. When I got close, we introduced ourselves and Josh showed me a small area in the dry sand, maybe 5’X5’, where they thought the ring slipped off. I turned on the Equinox and thoroughly scanned the area with not even a peep. So, I started a grid line working north, still with no targets. After about 4 lines, I went back over the same area working the grid south. Two lines south from my original starting point; I got a solid 17, which told me I had gold! I scooped the ring out of the sand, shook the sand out and let Josh reach in the scoop and retrieve his wedding band of 7 years. Both Josh and Emily were extremely excited their lost treasure was found.

Josh and Emily, thanks for trusting me and the Ring Finders to help find your lost ring.

Lost Gold Family Crest Ring at Nai’a Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began Sunday when I got a call at home from Susie who was on vacation with her family from Glendora, California. While preparing to board a flight home from the Honolulu Airport Susie told me her husband Justin had lost his Father’s Gold Family Crest Ring Thursday afternoon at Nai’a Lagoon at the Ko Olina Resort. Justin was playing on the shoreline with his son throwing a ball when the ring came off, fell into the water and disappeared into the sand. He immediately searched but the soft sand swallowed the ring and wasn’t about to reveal it’s whereabouts without some metal detecting assistance. I told Susie since the day was still early I’d head back to Ko Olina and see what I could do. Justin said the location should be ankle deep water in the center one third of the lagoon. The traffic was light and I arrived at Nai’a Lagoon around 3PM. Aloha Security opened the exit gate for me so I could enter the parking area as there was a line of cars waiting to go in. I started my search at the northern side of the center third and searched out to waist deep water and several feet up the shoreline in case Justin’s ring decided to travel. About 15 minutes into the hunt I found a Titanium Wedding Band. Keep going! A moment later I found a Tungsten Wedding Band. More to post on my website in hopes of returning. I found a few coins and then in the exact center of the lagoon in knee deep water I got a screaming 13 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Justin’s ring glistening in my scoop. Wow! That ring is very unique and if I hurry I can get a text off to the family before they land in California. Barely two hours later I got a text from Susie saying, « That is it!! Awesome! It’s my husband’s birthday and that is the best news. » I mailed the ring back Monday morning and Justin had it back on his finger Wednesday afternoon. Justin sent me a personal message about the ring and his Father that put a lump in my throat and justifies the pure enjoyment I get from this hobby. Aloha to Justin and Susie!

Lost Diamond Ring in Orange Beach, AL – FOUND!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

Felicia and Scott have been down from Tennessee enjoying this beautiful Orange Beach weather. The first day here Scott got a little sunburned so the next day Felicia was being extra careful to put plenty of sunscreen on the little ones. Like a lot of people, she took her ring off so she wouldn’t get it too greasy and she slipped it into her swimsuit thinking it would only be there for a second or two. Sure enough, moments later she had forgotten all about the ring as she rushed into the gulf to play with the kids in the waves. A few hours later as they were walking to their car, she noticed it was gone and that’s when panic ensued. You can imagine the frantic search that followed and understand why she got up at the crack of dawn to go comb the beach the following morning. Luckily for her there was a nice man that saw her looking and suggested the Ringfinders service. She was quickly searching on the internet and before she knew it she had my name and phone number. When she called and told me everything I knew that it was most likely in the water. I told them I was on the way. When I got there it was pretty crowded but they had a very good idea where they had gone into the Gulf. I explained that I would go back and forth in a grid pattern to make sure I covered everything but not to worry if it took a little while. I saw them both looking anxiously on as I dug a couple of coins shaking my head that no, that wasn’t it. Then I got the tone I wanted to hear and I very gently took a deeper scoop so I wouldn’t scratch anything. As the sand rushed out of my scoop I saw the telltale glint of gold and diamonds. I turned and smiled and gave them a nod and Felicia came rushing to meet me at the water’s edge. Now Scott and Felicia have been together since the eighth grade so I knew she was going to be excited but I have to say that Felicia wins for loudest, most excited shouts of joy ever. She screamed for joy so long that several people asked if we had gotten engaged. 😃. Gotta love it, that’s why I do what I do. This is a beautiful ring and I’m glad I could return it to such a beautiful couple. Congrats Scott and Felicia. God Bless!

I received a call from Chad requesting my services again, to locate his wife engagement ring, Chad called me a week ago while I was out of town and I had given Chad a few pointers to locate the ring and he had success in finding it.

This time he was not able to find the ring. His 2 ½ old son had a temper tantrum, picked up the ring off the table and walked over to the window and threw the ring out! Chad spent a couple of hours looking for it but had no luck.  I meet Chad outside his apartment building and he showed me the area and the window from which his son had thrown the ring. I spent approximately 40 minutes searching the area and finally found the ring about 30’ from the window. I told Chad that his son must have been really upset to be able to throw the ring that far!

Thank you Chad.

Lost Keys Big Bear Park! Edmonton, Alberta

Levi called me last week regarding his lost Key fob, which had been lost three days prior in a ravine! Levi searched for them but with no luck, and knowing how expensive it is to replace these key fobs he turned to the internet and found me on the Ringfinders web site.

When I met Levi at the park he showed me the location and said he had been throwing a ball for his dog down the ravine. When he went down to get the ball he slipped where there was tall grass and he thought his keys might be there but that was not the case! After searching for about one hour and asking questions I decide to look around above the ravine where Levi had parked his car. He showed me the direction he had walked to his car and said it was also how he walked back. I found his key fob forty feet in the other direction! Thank you Levi, for entrusting me to locate your lost key fob.

…Michael and his wife were at Sunset Beach, California. They were shooting videos of each other when Michael rolled down a sand embankment. He immediately felt that his wedding ring had come off. The sand was very dry and deep. The ring just disappeared. Then after  they spent a couple hours searching, a person who saw them searching told them about the ring finders website.

Michael called me and I was able to meet him at the site shortly after talking to him. We walked out to the location while he explained what happened. The embankment was actually a steep sand berm that the county puts up to protect the beach front homes from winter storms.

It was a bit difficult to walk and swing the detector on the steep incline. Everything worked out well and the ring was still shallow enough for the metal detector to give me a decent signal. The ring was recovered several minutes after beginning the grid search.

Michael and his wife were surprised and relieved that the ring was found. They told me that after their attempt to find the ring. Being totally frustrated they felt it was impossible to find such a small item in a sea of sand.  I told them a metal detector is the right tool to find a ring but you need the proper detector and know how to use it.

Another successful recovery for a happy grateful couple.

I received a text from Chris regarding the loss of his wife’s wedding ring in the sand. She had lost two rings, her engagement ring and wedding ring after having removed them to put sunscreen on. She placed them on a towel next to her, and then forgetting they were there moved the towel, and the rings were gone. They were able to find the engagement ring, but not the wedding ring. I left immediately knowing the sooner the search the better the chance of a recovery.

When I got to the beach, I quickly found Chris and his wife Aura. They explained what had happened, and showed me the area (which wasn’t very big) where the loss occurred. We moved some of the beach things they had there like the aluminum beach chair, in order to facilitate a search with no interference. I set up and swung about 3 times, got a great signal, dug, and had a pretty ring in my scoop. Aura told me how they had gone to Venice, Italy to get married, and that their Priest had given her ring special blessing, so to lose this token of their love for each other was heart breaking for them. It is such a great thing to be a happy part of people’s lives in returning to them what they think might be lost forever!

David contacted me asking if I would be able to help find his wife’s engagement ring that was lost in the beach sand. She had been digging in the sand with her child, and then all of a sudden realized her ring was no longer on her finger. I closed up and put away my dinner that I was eating, and headed right out to do the search knowing that this beach is detected all the time.

When I got to the beach, David met me and explained what had happened. There were two areas of concern, so I began in the first one he showed me. I did a completed grid of that area with no ring, so I went over to the next spot. As I went to the next spot, I made sure to search all the way over, just in case the ring had come off somewhere in between. I got to the second area, swung twice, got a real good signal, dug, and in my scoop, was a beautiful ring that I held up for David and his wife who got so excited to see again what she was thinking was lost forever. David told me that he had saved for 4 years to get that ring for his bride, so this recovery had much significance. A very happy day!

I got a call from a concerned homeowner whose son had hammered a bunch of nails into the ground from his little carpenter set. Apparently another child had been injured by one of the nails the previous day, and he wanted to try and make sure that all of the nails were removed from the grass before someone else got hurt. I came right over at our arranged time.

When I got to the house I was shown the yard, and the nails I was to be looking for, and began searching for them. To the homeowner’s surprise, I was also finding a lot of old rusted nails and screws as well. The yard wasn’t very big, but I found quite a lot of the dangerous items, all on the surface. He was very happy to know that the yard was going to be a safer place for his child to play.
