Jenny was on the beach in Margate, NJ, enjoying the day. She had taken off her sentimental gold chain and charm, which had belonged to her grandmother, while she went swimming in the ocean. She thought she had placed it in her bag for safekeeping, but it seemed she must have missed it. When she realized it was missing, she looked everywhere but could not find it.

 

Her friend’s mother suggested she call Ring Finders South Jersey . I arrived about 30 minutes later and, within 10 minutes, had retrieved the chain and charm with my metal detector. Jenny was overjoyed to have her sentimental jewelry back! It was a great ending to the day in Margate, NJ.

Lost and found gold ring at Buckhorn lake in Ontario

My travels today took me to Buckhorn lake area. Received a text from Gerrard about Katie loosing her gold ring, with opal, last weekend at the family cottage during a bachelorette weekend party. She was swimming in only about three feet of water when all of the sudden, she felt her ring slip off her finger. Once I arrived at the cottage, a lady that was there last weekend was able to direct me in the water to where she believed Katie lost her ring. I turned on my underwater metal detector, did a couple swing and right away I heard a great signal. Looked in my scoop and there was her ring. No Scuba diving, no weeds and hardly any silt to contend with. The best part, Gerrard is headed back home to Hamilton this evening and will be returning the ring to Katie. She has no idea that he contacted me or the fac that her ring has been found. Another great recovery. I wish they could all be this easy. Life is good!

Lady’s White Gold Wedding Ring Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Ocean Isle Beach NC

On Saturday night, August 31st at about 11:15 pm I received the following text, “Hi! I lost my wedding band today at ocean isle. Can you help tomorrow?” I responded with the normal questions, what time it was lost, where – soft sand or in the ocean, and if in the ocean how deep she was? She responded that it was in the dry sand. At that point I called her to make sure I had all the details and set up a time for the next morning for a search. This is when she told me that both her wedding band and engagement ring were stuck in a pouch on the beach chair. When she got back to the rental is when she realized the wedding ring was missing.

This morning, Sunday, I arrived at the address she gave me and met her in the driveway. She led me out to the area they had been sitting and I started a north/south grid search, extending the search area out on all four sides. She had told me when I started the search it was a white gold ring, so I knew I was looking for a signal between 6-8 on the machine. After completing the search area with no luck, I decided to start an east/west grid search. Now I’d be covering the area between where she was sitting and going across the beach towards the beach access point. On my second pass of the new grid, I got a solid 7 on the machine. Bingo. I dug out a scoop of sand and laid it on the beach, smoothing it out with my foot. I immediately saw her ring, reached down and picked it up. I held it up for her to see and she couldn’t believe it. She was so grateful and trying to hold back the tears of relief. This search ended with one happy young lady, a found ring and a hug.

Lost Property Markers Found in Trenton Michigan

On The Fence……

…Was the feeling that came over Walt as the old privacy fence was removed and a new vinyl one was soon to be installed. He was in agreement with the neighbor about it but still was curious where the property line was. After chatting I agreed to locate the property irons and wanted the neighbor’s approval as well. With that granted I proceeded to examine the old survey drawing for the lot dimensions. On site I turned on my Tesoro Sidewinder metal detector and began scanning. Near the front sidewalk I got a loud signal. Probing with a surveyors pin I felt it scratch the side of a metal object. Digging in and flipping the grass plug revealed the property iron! At the rear of the lot the old property iron was exposed but bent sideways from tree growth near it making it inaccurate to use. Moving to the opposite corner the drawing indicated the property iron was set years ago. Finding that one enabled me to pull a tape measure the correct lot width towards the bent property pin to see where the line really was where the fence was going. By this time the neighbor came out to see how things were going. We all agreed that the new fence was not going to encroach onto Walt’s property. To celebrate, as Walt brought out some beers I said, now that’s a perfect way to mend the fence with the neighbor!……Cheers!

Lost and found diamond ring at Eels Lake Ontario

Today’s excursion took me to Eels lake near Apsley, just south of Bancroft. Received a call from Shayne last week about his girlfriend Lisa loosing her diamond ring while vacationing at a campground. While on the floating dock, Shayne threw Lisa into the water and then both watched in horror as the ring flew off her finger and into the lake. The issues were; the floating dock moves quite a bit from its anchor point pending on wind direction, dense weed bed and about one foot of silt under the weed bed (typical for lake conditions in the area).  The good news is that it was in only ten feet of water and they both saw the ring go in. After a two hour search, constantly ripping weeds off my detector coil, I finally heard that sweet gold tone, amongst other metal signals. After coming up about four feet from the bottom, due to zero visibility due to silty conditions, I saw and confirmed that I had the right ring. Lisa was so happy to be reunited with her grandmother’s ring, whom has passed since she’d given it to her. Another happy ending. Life is good.

Lost Rose Gold Ring Underwater Found in Portage Lake, Munith Michigan

The Feather that Pointed to Treasure……

….Most treasure hunters at least once in their lifetime have come across treasure signs and symbols while researching a particular treasure lead or legend. Some spend most of their lives trying to decipher, decode and chase down the clues hoping to find the motherlode. When Travis lost his ring in the water, he was hoping it wouldn’t take a lifetime to find it. Entering the lake the water felt nice and cool and with the scent of barbecue grills and smoked meats in the air I paused to take in the moment of another summer that’s gone by too fast. On the shore was Travis’ wife Margherita who was pointing to us the area she remembers Travis being in when the ring came off. Out in about 5 feet of water I got a few junk targets, but as Margherita pointed more to the left a huge loud signal came thru my detector’s headphones. Descending under for a minute my pin pointer buzzed on a target and moving some sand aside I saw his ring. Back on the surface I had a mad look on my face and said all I’m picking up is junk, but then this showed up! Travis looked at his ring in amazement and couldn’t believe it was found! He held it in the air and Margherita knew we had found it! Back on shore Margherita walked towards us with a large feather. I said to her that I didn’t have any ink for the quill pen if you’re writing me a check! They both laughed and she said that the feather was found behind her and was pointing towards where the ring was found and mentioned that whenever she came across a feather in life, good things always happened! I said that’s one heck of a treasure sign and I’ll go get that ink!

Dennis, MA 4 Rings Lost 2 Found and Returned

A mid-day text from Jeanna would keep me busy for a couple of hours with only half the results I strive for. It seams that her daughter Julian had been enjoying time at one of Cape Cod’s private beaches. She had taken her 4 rings off and place them in a pocket for safe keeping. The rings, each given to denote a special occurrence, is a tradition held by her father.

I arrived at the area of loss to and found more beach goers than I thought would be in the area I needed to search. Carefully I searched the open area and very soon found one ring. Nearby was an unoccupied tarp for young children to rest on. There was no children on it so I gently swung my detector over it, heard a target and ask the father if I could retrieve what I thought was a second missing ring. “go away and come back tomorrow.” I explained what I was looking for, and why I was requesting to retrieve the target under the tarp. Begrudgingly he said I had two minutes. It only took 15 seconds to carefully pull the tarp back half way, retrieve the target which was the second ring and replace the tarp exactly as it initially was, minus some sand that had been on it. I wondered just how he would have reacted if it had been his daughter’s ring I was looking for.

Well there were no more signals at the time. I would have to wait for other beach goers to leave for the day so as not to interrupt their enjoyment. I returned three hours later, and after the last of the beach goers left I completed the search of an area four times that of the area I had been shown that the rings might be in. The search did not reveal either of the last two missing rings. I wonder just where those two rings might be. Either way they were not there for me to find, even after I went back a third time, just to put my mind at ease for doing everything I could to find them. My best two theories are one someone else had already found them or they had not fallen from Julian’s pocket in the area I searched.

I made arraignments to return the two rings to Julian’s mother, Jeanna. We both agreed that I had done my best and all were not lost. Had I been contacted on the day they were lost, the outcome may have been different. That is why it is so important to start a search as soon as possible after a loss is made. In this instance I was searching 6 days after the rings had been lost. My best guess is that someone just happened to see the rings and picked them up. I did contact other known detectorists about the loss with negative results.
In the end, both Jenna and Julian are thrilled to have back what I was able to find.

White Gold Wedding Band Set Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC (with Video)

This recovery started on Monday, Aug 27th about 1:10 pm, with a text message from Rachel saying, “Hi Jim. Am I able to hire you to search around our beach chairs for my wedding rings?” The text had her phone number, so I called her to get a little more detail. She told me that she took her ring set off and put them in her cover-up pocket to put on suntan lotion. A short time later she took the cover-up off, forgetting about the set. Within seconds, she remembered about them being in the pocket, and they were gone. She was sure they were around the beach chairs. Unfortunately, I wasn’t available for at least an hour or two, but she said she wasn’t going anywhere until she was sure the area was checked.

I called her back about 1:45 pm saying I’d be there in 30-45 minutes. When I got there she was in the parking lot talking to friends. We walked out on the beach and across the sand to where her husband Rob was sitting. The search area was maybe 1.5X1.5 ft.  I had my Equinox 800 with me, turned it on and started swinging. With the ring set being white gold, I knew the VDI (Visual Display Indicator) would show between 8-12, depending on the size of the rings. Within seconds I had an 11 VDI and a strong signal next a beach chair. I asked Rachel if she’d move the beach chair so I could be sure I wasn’t getting interference from it. I swung my machine back over the spot and BINGO! I had to take 2 scoops to get the target out of the hole. I didn’t ask, but I assumed that Rachel and Rob had tried to find the ring set and moved enough sand to bury the ring a little deeper. When I spread the sand out on the beach, Rachel spotted her ring before I did and quickly picked it up. There were a few very happy tears of relief and a big hug from Rachel, who didn’t think she’d get her precious treasure back.

Lost White Gold Ring Found Inside House in Highland Township Michigan

Window Pain…..

…..What started as a complete house search for Amy’s lost ring led to searching the car and with still no luck, we took a short break to consider other possibilities. Racking our brains started to give us both headaches. Gazing out the window into the back yard helped clear the fog. She mentioned that occasionally she takes her ring off and sets it on the windowsill. The crank for it was off and I asked if the window ever gets opened. She said yes and went to get the crank. Leaning over the sink I heard the creaks as I cranked the window open. Poking my head thru the pane eased my pain when I saw Amy’s ring stuck in the weatherstripping! Who would have thought that sticking my head thru a windowpane would get rid of this pain in the glass search! Amy was shattered with excitement and cracked a huge smile, amazed that the ring was there! I asked, how does it feel not to be framed anymore? She replied, you crack me up and finding my ring is clearly top of the glass.

Lost – MEN’S 10K WHITE GOLD WEDDING BAND, NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL – FOUND!!!

Monday around 6pm, I had just returned from the beach when I got a call from Muru. He explained that he and his wife Courtney had been to the beach on Saturday, and he had lost his 10k white gold wedding ring. He said that his wife Courtney found me on the internet and wanted to know if I could look for the ring.

He told me that he had lost it in shallow water and at the steps leading down from the parking meter. I decided to go right back to the beach right away to search. I fired up the Manticore and did an extensive grid search. I checked both dry sand and water and did not find the ring.

On Tuesday I decided to go back when the tide was at the exact same height as it was when Muru lost the ring. If anything, the ring should be in dry sand since on Saturday the surf was up due to a passing storm. In addition, Muru had sent me an image and he was North of most of my efforts Monday.

I started a slow and methodical search. Twenty minutes into the search I got a strong gold-like hit. I dug the target and the shine of the ring shown out of the clump of sand. The ring that was lost was found and given back to Muru and his family later that day.
