*** Carlos was I the pool at his apartment complex. He was throwing a ball  across the pool when his large gold nugget ring flew off his finger. He and his friends searched into the night without success. I was called because he believed the ring could be in some of the landscape plants.

I arrived the next morning and the ring was found in  a 3 foot high garden plant. It was actually 30 feet further away from where they believed it to be. The big gold ring was visible two feet high in the side of the Hibiscus plant. Probably more than 50-60 people had walked past it without seeing it..

Wedding ring set found in Horsetooth Reservoir

Recently I received a call from Trina asking me to try to locate a ring lost in Horsetooth Reservoir. She and her husband Ben had spent the day hiking around the reservoir and wanted to cool off in the water. She wadded out into the water; the water level drops off quickly so about 10-15 feet from shore and she was already up to her shoulders and cooling off nicely. Even though she could touch bottom easily she had to mover her hands in a treading water motion in order to stay in one place due to waves from the nearby boaters. It wasn’t long when Trina felt her wedding ring (handed down from her great grandmother) slip from her finger. Trina and Ben spent the next several hours trying to find her ring with no success. That night she found my number and contacted me and soon we made arrangements for Stephanie Hobbs and I to come and do a search.
Sunday morning Stephanie and I gathered our gear and began our hour long drive north. Stephanie brought her XP Deus and associated gear, I brought my Minelab Manticore, waterproof headphones, pouch and two water scoops.
Upon arrival at the reservoir, we were VERY fortunate to find a parking spot and pulled in (timing is everything). Trina and Ben met us as we pulled in, they live in Cheyenne, Wyoming so it was no short drive for them either. They took us down to the location of our search site and Trina showed us how deep she was in reservoir.
Stephanie and I spent over two hours in the cold mountain water searching trying to locate the rings.  At one point I needed to get out of the water to prevent hypothermia and warm up on the large rocks that lined the shore. The scoops that I had brought were useless as the area of our search had large flat rocks that left crevasses with a thin layer of mud on the rocks. I tried feeling for the ring with my bare feet and pulled up many rocks (I may have monkey feet), that was unsuccessful. Finally, I decided to detect mark the spot by Stephanie holding my scoop upside down and I would dive under the water and try to feel for the object (hopefully the ring). This was a good idea but not great. Stephanie suggested that we use her MI6 probe since it is waterproof, what a great idea. Eventually we wondered out to deeper water, up to my chin. I heard a great signal (31) with a perfectly round dot on the line of my Manticore. With Stephanie perched on two larger rocks so that she was above water holding the scoop to mark the spot and my detector I started to dive again. After several handfuls of muck, I finally surfaced with the rings in my hand.

Ring found and return in Denver!!

Tom lost his ring in his yard over a month ago. He tried renting a detector but did not know how to use it to the best extent possible. It was a special ring and when his daughters found out they decided to buy him a new one while they were in Ireland. He still thought of that ring as special so he gave us a call. After talking to Tom about where he may have lost it in his backyard, I decided to search the whole perimeter. About halfway through the yard I found the ring not far from a tree. He was so happy to have his ring back and to have a new one from his daughters as well!

Received a call from Tom. He explained that his wife had dropped her diamond ring somewhere between the beach entrance and where they set up on the beach. Took the short ride over from home and met up with Tom at the entrance to Philadelphia beach. Tom led me from the entrance of the beach to where his party had set up their belongings for the day. I checked the path to their site while he directed me to it with a few coins found along the way. One reaching their site I met Toms wife Thanh and bean checking around their cabana. With the first swing I heard a familiar tone. One shallow scoop later I had Thanh’s ring in the scoop, much to the couples relief! Another happy couple!

Precious Engagement/Wedding Ring Found For Owner by Brian Tucholke, Old Silver Beach, Falmouth, Massachusetts

12 August 2015.  Nickey was enjoying a day at the beach with her children, but she was devastated when she realized that her beautiful custom-made engagement & wedding ring was missing from her hand.  Fellow beach goers helped her search for it with no result.  Beach sand, whether dry, wet, or under water can hide a ring in an instant, and when the place of loss is not certain a tactile recovery or recovery by sieving becomes a nearly impossible task.

Fortunately beach staff knew about the Ring Finders and gave Nickey contact information.  She called Rick Browne, my friend and fellow Ring Finder in Yarmouth.  He was not able to come to Falmouth but referred her to me.  I was able to meet her at the beach within about 15 minutes.

Nickey outlined the area where she had been, in and out of the water.  The loss had been about 2 hours previously, fortunately at mid-tide on an outgoing tide.  She had been playing and tossing a ball in the water with her children, so that seemed to be the likely place the ring was lost, although it could also be in nearshore wet sand or in dry sand where they had been sitting.  I started the search in the water near the center of the likely area, doing swaths from the shoreline out across a trough and across a sand bar about 150′ offshore, then back in.

As my swaths approached the south edge of the area Nickey said she felt that she and her children had been playing farther north so I returned to the center and moved in that direction.  One swath out and then halfway back, on the sand bar, pure Magic!  As I scooped a nice crisp signal in calf-deep water I saw her beautiful ring slip over the tip of the scoop — it was only an inch or two into the sand — but with a quick second push I had it.  The sand quickly flowed through the holes in the scoop and I was left staring at nothing but a gorgeous diamond ring set, resting safely and sedately at the bottom.

I left the ring set in the scoop and headed in to shore.  As Nickey looked questioningly at me I held out the scoop.  She looked inside.  Well, words cannot begin to describe all the mixed emotions and tears that flooded forth, but it can safely be said that the encapsulated joy of those moments will never be forgotten.  Nickey called her husband Mike with the good news, and those who had helped in the earlier search joined in the celebration.  I was pleased to be able to meet Mike, who arrived from work a short time later.

This search began with a text from a distraught young lady who unfortunately had her cell phone thrown into a small lake behind the Airbnb that they were staying in. And to make matters worse she ended up throwing her husband’s phone into the same body of water only minutes later…Yikes! It did not take them long to realize the error of their actions and they went online to find some much needed help and that led them to theringfinders.com and my phone number. I met them later that day and listened to their story and then I geared up with my wet suit, scuba boots, long handled beach scoop and my trusty Garrett ATMax waterproof metal detector. They had a fairly good idea where the phones landed in the water but between the weeds and the muck and silt…plus the fact that the bottom dropped away about 15 feet from the shore made it very difficult to search and retrieve any signal. I found the young lady’s phone after 40 minutes of searching and was able to use my long handled scoop to reach down over the sloped area and drag it close enough to retrieve. The young man’s phone was further out and I managed to tread water and swing my metal detector by holding on to the back arm rest portion thus allowing me to push it deeper into the water and my first good signal was an old beer can and then minutes later another large sounding signal that required the use of a long handled fishing net. After 5 attempts of dragging a net full of muck and silt and trying to keep myself lined up to where I got the signal I finally felt what I was looking for in the bottom of the net…the young man’s cell phone!

Beautiful Gold Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned in Trenton, NJ!!!

Owen was referred to me by fellow Ring Finder John Favano. Owen was convinced that his 2 year old 14k gold wedding band fellow off his finger somewhere between his truck and the 2nd story porch of his apartment in Trenton, NJ. After parking he put his ring temporarily on his pinky as he carried a heavy moving blanket from his truck to his apartment. When he got to his apartment he went out on porch and fluffed out the blanket and hung it on the railing…immediate after he noticed his ring was no longer on his pinky. He looked for hours and even borrowed a friends metal detector before reaching out to a pro for help. I arrived at his place and immediately scanned the grass where he walked from his truck to his apartment…no luck. Then we looked under, around and beneath 2nd story porch…no luck. Then we simulated the loss by recreating the movement of putting blanket across railing with another ring …it showed the ring could have flown further out into backyard. After 50 minutes of search time….we were ready to give up…when boom!!!! there it was! Farther than where we could have imagined it flew from 2nd story porch! I was very happy…and Owen was very relieved….to have his ring back on his finger!!!
