I received a phone call from Shayna on Wednesday evening (August 18, 2021) stating that she had lost her engagement ring on Monday while walking in her yard in Ashville, Alabama. Shayna and her fiancé tried looking for it with a metal detector, but were unable to find it. I was off on Friday, so we arranged for a search that morning.
I arrived at their home in Ashville, AL on Friday, August 20, 2021. Shayna showed me the area in her yard where she thought the ring had slid off her finger. She told me that the ring was 10k rose gold with diamonds. It was her fiancé’s grandmother’s ring. I began a grid search with my Minelab Equinox 800. After clearing the general area Shayna told me that the ring should be in, I expanded my grid search. Soon after, Shayna told me that she had to be honest and that it was actually a ring toss. She said that she had immediately regretted throwing the ring. This happens a lot; people have disagreements and sometimes rings go flying. We’re all human.
With this new information, I had Shayna show me exactly where she was walking and how she tossed the ring. It was a sideways toss. I also had her fiancé show me where he remembered her standing when it happened. Her fiancé said that she was about 5-10 feet further than Shayna remembered, which was in an area I hadn’t searched yet. I expanded my grid search in that direction and soon after I found Shayna’s ring! The grass was on the taller side, so it easily hid that beautiful 10 karat rose gold engagement ring. Both Shayna and her fiancé were relieved and glad to have it back!

Received a text early this morning from Keelin. She and her friends went to a local beach in Cobourg Ontario for a late evening swim and camp fire by the shore of Lake Ontario. Fortunately for her, and the recovery of her ring, all the stars lined up as she specifically recalled feeling the ring slip off her finger and at what depth she was while in the water. Met up with Keelin and her dad first thing this morning, and ten minutes later found her ring within 20 feet from where she thought it was lost. Keelin’s fiancé currently lives in the UK and they haven’t seen each other since last January due to COVID. They are scheduled to get married this October, in the UK, and is extremely happy that she will be able to wear her lost and found engagement ring. Watch the video. Another happy ending!

I got a call about a lost platinum ring with a large diamond. It was lost at night close to high tide in the water. I knew low tide was coming up and it would probably be dry in that area when I arrived. My friend Gene was already down there and he helped me search for the ring. After 2 hours I got a hit in the range I thought it would be. BAM! The video will be on Gigmaster on youtube!
Received a call to look for a ring in the back yard. Person had purchased a metal detector but was unable to locate the ring. I got there and most of the back yard had pavers, so I knew it couldn’t be there. I searched all the grass in his yard, nothing! I was informed that he heard it hit something. The neighbors garage was also close, so I checked the neighbors yard. No Luck. I had previously asked him to check the roof of his garage, so I knew it wasn’t there. I went back to the yard and very carefully LOOKED at the crevice between the sidewalk and the grass. BINGO! As a note, I have had several other hunts where the ring was in a crevice next to a sidewalk and always as a last spot to concentrate on is that space.

I received a call from Dustin who was vacationing with his family in Narragansett. While enjoying a day at the beach two days earlier, Dustin realized he had forgotten to take his wedding ring off, so he stashed it in their beach bag. After returning from the beach, Dustin’s wife emptied the beach bag and shook out the sand in the backyard. Later that day, Dustin asked his wife if she had his platinum wedding ring. This is when they realized that the ring was in the backyard or had fallen out at the beach. Dustin and his wife searched the grass but had no luck. I searched the backyard and found the ring in about 10 minutes. I held the ring up and asked them « how does it feel? » They couldn’t believe the ring was found and how quickly. I’m so glad I was able to help this nice couple
I received a call on Tuesday, July 20th, from a nice couple, Francesca and Sharon. They had only recently got engaged, and Sharon lost her engagement ring, a lovely antique ring, a few days earlier. They were at Colt State Park for a day of fun. While swimming, Sharon’s ring fell off in the water. They searched for the ring for a few days but couldn’t find it. That’s when they decided to look for help on the internet and found my profile on TheRingFinders website, I went to the park the same day they contacted me, but I couldn’t get out far enough into the water as it was high tide. I met Francesca at the park three days later when it was low tide to continue the search. After two hours of searching, I located the ring. Francesca was amazed that the ring was found after being in the ocean for five days. She couldn’t wait to put the engagement ring back on Sharon’s hand.

*** Mary was doing her yoga work out on a lawn when her necklace broke. The small gold cross that was a gift from her mother disappeared into the grass. She found my service on line. She immediately called me asking if I was available to yelp her.
I left right away to meet her in Santa Monica, CA., where she was waiting to show me the location.
She showed me where the incident happened. As we looked into the lawn I caught a glimpse of gold in the grass and pointed, before I could say anything, Mary spotted it at the same time.
After retrieving the petite gold cross, I checked it with my pinpointer and could not get a decent signal. I know this was so small that a metal detector may not have detected this. So happy that we were able to visually locate this very small gold cross. I believe the time of day and the position the sun helped to make this visible. Mary was was very happy that she waited long enough for this recovery.

Yesterday morning as we were all preparing for the possibility of Tropical Storm Fred getting closer to us, I got a call. Deborah and her family were down from Birmingham to witness her son Thomas get married on the beach the day before. Everything went great but the young man who was kind enough to act as ring bearer got a little over zealous on his walk to the alter. Even though both rings were tied to the pillow, somewhere between the boardwalk and the place where the bridal party were standing, the bride’s rose gold and diamond band disappeared. 😳 Luckily, Deborah reached out to me promptly and understood that we needed to find it quickly before those waves in the gulf got closer and closer. I was already in the area and agreed to meet Thomas for a debrief of where everyone was standing. I used my largest coil and was able to cover a lot of ground while Thomas ran back to his car for something. I think he was surprised to see that by the time he got back I was already taking pictures of the ring with the big seas in the background. He was thrilled to have his new bride’s ring back and quickly called his family to tell them the good news. Congratulations to you all. I’m very glad I was able to help make a great ending to a story I know you will tell for years to come. God Bless! 😃
Karrie husband was reading the Costco Connection when he read the article Hunting treasures. He searched the Ring Finders and contacted me. Karrie had lost her wedding ring so 30 days prior while playing catch with her daughter in the back yard. the ring was on her glove hand and was thought to be lost when she had to remove the glove to retrieve the ball from under the evergreen trees. They had purchased a metal detector but could find the ring.
We made arrangements to meet. I did a search of the evergreen trees on both sides of the yard and grid search of the main area of the yard. I was into the second hour of the search and got a great tone and 49 VDI in the 2 in depth the ring was covered by the grass. Karrie was very happy to get the lost ring back on her finger.
This has to be one of the best feelings to return a precious lost item to someone that may have given up all hope of ever seeing it again.
