Shree writes… »We’ve been married over a decade and some years ago I lost my wedding ring which made me feel sad for months.  Much later I learned about this metal detecting service but it was too late…so recently when my husband lost his wedding ring I made sure to get a professional search done, only the circumstances were much much harder.  He lost his ring in the midst of the dangerous storm, Milton here in Florida.  We thought we were well prepared for the storm but in the middle of it my husband realized he missed closing down one of the front window shutters.  He was drenched from the rain while pulling the shutter down and came up onto the porch where he shook his drenched hands to get the rain water off and alas with the strong flick of his hands…his ring went flying!   And God knows where!  It was impossible to look for the ring in that weather as every time we stepped out of the house we felt like we could be blown away.  And the following morning we searched again to no avail.

Then I found Mike online and quickly called him.  He assured me the ring had not left my campus and that felt strange to me…given the torrential rain the previous night.  But still we planned to wait and meet the day after, when the weather had settled down.  Mike is so friendly and kind and we really appreciated the unexpected seriousness of effort he was putting into the search while we had mentally given up on the find.  It was more than an hour and a half into the search on the ground and under the shrubs and bushes in our front yard where the ring was lost and we were starting to feel like we had done our bit and it was over.  But Mike’s persistence and hope was on another level!  He just kept digging and searching and…Voila!!!  There it was!  He found it stuck way down in the middle of one of our super thick Bird of Paradise plants!  I don’t think there was anyway we were ever going to be able to find it there on our own!  I wouldn’t have believed in such a service if I did not witness it’s success…BUT it works and Mike is terrific at it!  We are absolutely thrilled to have  our precious ring back!  Thank you Mike!  Abhi and Shree »

Mrs Jocelyn was enjoying a beautiful day at Wekiva Falls and spent most of the day floating in the cool water while her kids and grandson played in the deeper waters of the spring where the slide was located. Towards the end of their swim Jocelyn needed some help getting out of her tube and up the bank and she noticed her diamond rings were missing from her finger. She immediately called her family to help look for her rings in the shallow water but it was nowhere to be found and that is when they called me. Jocelyn wrote, »While spending time with family in Sorrento at Wekiva Falls RV Resort, Florida I lost the wedding ring set that has been in my family for generations! I gave Mike McInroe a call! I found him on a Google search through Theringfinders and he said he wanted to come out that night instead of waiting until morning. I was comforted by Mike’s smile as soon as I met him! We showed him the area we were in and Praise God, within 10 minutes of searching he found my lost ring set! Mike was so kind and sweet. If I could give him an infinite amount of stars it wouldn’t be enough! I just can’t thank him enough! »

It was truly an honor to help Mrs Jocelyn and her family!

Lost Diamond in grass, Orlando, Florida…..Found with metal detector!

In Tina’s own words, she says, »Saturday, March 11th I brought the dog out to do his business. He was taking his sweet time and as I was waiting for him I started fidgeting with my diamond ring, as I often do! With the first twirl around my finger I felt the diamond pop off of my ring. I was sure it just dropped straight down into the grass. I hurried the dog back inside and then returned to where I was standing so I could get a better look at the ground. It was no where to be found! I then woke up my husband and my son and they both rushed outside to help me look for my lost diamond. We even had a couple of our neighbors join in the hunt as well. After approximately 5 hours we decided to borrow a friend’s metal detector and we dug up a good section of our yard, but we had NO LUCK! We then waited until it got dark and went back out with a couple of strong flash lights to see if we could catch a glimmer of the diamond sparkling in the light but even that failed! It made it more difficult since it was just the diamond, with the prongs still attached and not the whole ring. So after exhausting all the suggestions we could think of I tried the internet and Googled « How to find a diamond in the grass »! Then I came across theringfinders.com! There were a couple of Ring finder members in the Orlando area so I went with the one who had the most successful recoveries! I called Mike McInroe shortly after 12 noon and he was able to come by our house around 4:30pm that same day! He thoroughly searched the immediate area and after two hours my husband and I were starting to give up hope. And then all of a sudden Mike came over to me with my diamond in his hand!!! We were so so very thankful! It was truly a blessing that I found him on line and that he was able to find my precious diamond. We couldn’t thank him enough! »

Lost family heirloom diamond ring in Atlantic Ocean, Ormond Beach, Florida….found with metal detector!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Jade and her family’s Labor Day get away to the beach started out great! They arrived at the beach early and got their things all set out and could not wait to get into the warm ocean surf. Everyone was enjoying the water even though the waves were a bit rough…still it was the perfect day to enjoy the water, sand and sun! As they made their way deeper into the water Jade’s husband noticed that Jade was wearing the precious diamond heirloom ring that his grand mother had passed down to his own mother and then she had passed it on to Jade when they got married! With the hope of one day passing it on to their son, Everetts, when he gets married. Jade was sure the ring fit snug enough to not have to worry about loosing it and as she pulled on the ring to show that it was tight…off it came and dropped straight into the churning wave tossed waters!

Shocked beyond belief she let out a scream and immediately everyone came to help her locate the ring! Even when knowing exactly where it fell into the water it turned out to be so much more difficult to locate then they had ever imagined! Hours passed and they drove to a nearby store to purchase a metal detector and tried it but ended up shorting out the headphones as it was not a water proof metal detector!

Meanwhile, Jade’s son Everett found « theringfinders.com website » on his phone and decided to call me for help. As I listened to what had happened and the fact that they were very sure of the exact location where the ring had dropped, I offered to come out right away and do whatever I could to help them. Even though the surf was rough and the waves were fairly big I felt that her ring would be where it fell even through to the next low tide cycle. I asked Jade what the sand felt like under her feet while they were looking for her lost ring…soft or hard packed? She said soft in some places and hard in other places. And with that info I knew I had to search ASAP and I could not afford to wait till the next days low tide. It was around 5:30 pm Monday evening and low tide was coming up at around 11:30pm and I determined to search under an overcast moon and trust that by God’s grace I would be able to find Jade’s lost ring before it sunk too deep!

Under normal daylight hours I am able to use small wire survey flags to mark the sand and then by lining the two rows of flags up I am able to back my way into the surf and use the flags to help me go out and come back in a straight line. Once I get out as far as I can safely go I then take two steps over and walk out keeping myself lined up just about four feet off of where I went into the water. But in the middle of the night on a dark beach there is no way to visually see my flags! So as I was passing the time waiting for the next low tide I walked across the Ocean Shore Blvd. to the Dollar Store and began walking the isles to see what I could use to mark my path and progress. Thankfully they had some Halloween decorations out and I came across some 8 inch long glow sticks! I was able to use the two glow sticks to keep me lined up and began my night time search about 10:00 pm and little by little I backed my way out into the dark waters as far as I could safely go and the two glow sticks worked like a charm!

Earlier in the day as I was waiting for it to get dark I detected on the dry sand just to see if anyone had dropped anything and I used up a couple of hours of battery life!!! Not smart!! Reason being as I only have one battery and it lasts maybe 5 hours total! I water hunt using the Whites TDI Beachhunter and hip mount the box and it works great! Normally that is about all I can handle when working in and out of the surf in the hot sun and fighting against the current and waves!

After an hour and a half of covering the main target area I noticed my low battery light had come on and my detector started making the usual odd sound. I felt I was really close to the actual spot where she said the ring was dropped and now my battery was dying! I prayed and asked my heavenly Father to help my detector last just long enough to be able to find Jade’s lost heirloom ring! God then gave me the idea to go sideways out as far as I could where it was just over my waist and the sandy bottom had areas where it dropped away a foot or so. Fifteen minutes later I got a funny signal that sounded much like sunglasses sound only distorted like. I dug three scoops trying to retrieve the curious item. Actually it was the only signal I had gotten all the while and as I shook out the sand my head lamp lit up the scoop and there to my utter amazement was Jade’s precious lost ring! Words cannot express my joy and the emotion I felt and I let out a loud prayer of thanksgiving to my Father God!

I could not wait to get to the car and dry off and send Jade the good news! We talked and I assured them that we could meet anytime in the next day or two to pick up their precious ring! Early the next morning Jade arrived at our home and I was able to personally hand her the ring she thought was lost forever in the churning waters of the Atlantic Ocean! Google gave them a very, very slim chance of ever seeing their ring again but thankfully God came through and used little ol me to help them out of a desperate situation! And I am so thankful they gave me a call and trusted me to do what I could in their time of need!

Lost earbud in the grass, Sanford, Florida….Found!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Stephanie was out with her two small children and while watching them play she was unaware that one of. her earbuds fell out of her ear. After getting the children back into the house she felt her ear and realized the one was missing. Thinking it must have popped out while picking up her young son she began retracing her steps and thought surely she would find it as it was black and would show up rather easily on the sidewalk or even in the grass.

Two days passed and her husband remembered that I help people find their lost items using a metal detector so he sent me a message asking if I could help them. I showed up 15 minutes later and asked for Stephanie’s other earbud to see if I could get a reading and sure enough it gave a faint signal in the « All Metal Mode ». After searching for 20 minutes I got a quiet signal and there, down in the grass, was Stephanie’s lost earbud…barely visible! Stephanie was so happy to have it back and the big smile tells it all!

Lost engagement ring and wedding ring in grass, Longwood, Florida….Found!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Mrs Patty was engaged back in 1972 and received a simple but beautiful diamond ring! Twenty years later she added two more diamonds to her engagement ring, one from her deceased mother’s ring and the other diamond came from her late grand mother’s engagement ring! Fast forward 30 years and as Patty was pulling some trash bins around her house to set on the curb for the next days pick up she noticed that her rings were not on her finger. Figuring they must have come off somehow while tugging on the garbage bins she began searching the grass and leaves along the path she had taken. She even went out later that night with a strong flashlight hoping to catch a glimpse of the gold or by some slim chance see a sparkle from one of the three diamonds. But she got more discouraged as she realized that it would be next to impossible to find them without the help of a metal detector. Later that evening she went on line and searched for « Metal detector rental » and one of the links that came up was www.theringfinders.com.

I am so very thankful to have numerous opportunities to help people find their lost rings! It is an honor to meet and listen to each person’s story about what it is that they lost and what the item means to them. Most often it is a wedding ring or engagement ring that has been dropped, lost or even thrown and to see and hear the pain and distress brought on by such an event…spurs me on to do whatever I can to relieve that stress and grief and bring back the joy that is missing in their lives.

I began searching along the paths that Patty indicated she had taken and had almost covered the front yard. Before heading to the side of the house I decided to go up along the driveway, even though she did not indicate she had walked that way. Halfway up I received a strong signal and could barely see part of what looked like a ring and it was tilted in the grass making it difficult to see what I thought looked like some diamonds. I called to Mrs Patty and she came a running with a big smile on her face. I encouraged her that if one of her rings dropped there it was very likely that the wedding ring was close by. I swept the area again thinking surely I would get a signal but nothing. I went up to the sidewalk and came back covering the same area and as I approached the exact spot where the diamond ring was resting I glanced out onto the concrete driveway and guess what I spotted…just lying in plain sight? There was Mrs Patty’s wedding ring…and again I called her to come see what else I had just found! She could hardly believe that it had been there all along…hiding in plain sight!
It was an honor to help Mrs Patty and to know that one day her rings will be passed on to another generation to enjoy and cherish!

Lost wallet in the water, Atlantic Ocean, Daytona Beach….Found and Returned to owner!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

While searching for a lost silver cross and chain for a young man from Wisconsin, I dug up someones wallet in the knee deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. That’s not something we find very often and from the looks and condition of the wallet and the contents inside I could tell it had been there for a couple of months, at least. I never did find the silver cross but who knows it may show up yet! Plus that very same day I eyeballed a really nice lady’s diamond ring that is waiting to be reunited with its rightful owner. So after I got home and got myself and my gear all cleaned up I took out the wallet I had found and started going through the contents. First off it had a flat magnet and a flat metal plate sewn inside the wallet that helped keep it in the closed position. And it was those two pieces of metal that helped me find the wallet under all that sand. It contained three credit cards, one Florida Resident fishing license, a drivers license and 52 dollars in bills. Not a bad score for a day at the beach!

Later that evening I did a little investigation on line and found the owner of the wallets family and gave them a call. A few days later the wallet and all the contents were put in an envelope and mailed off to Jacksonville, Florida and here is the response that Coby sent me a week later.

« Hi Mike, I wanted to say thank you so much for sending my wallet, cards and cash back to me in one piece! Although the cards are no longer useful, it is great to have my ID and especially the cash again. My sister Rachel (with me in the picture) told me you washed, dried and ironed it! I appreciate what you do for people and as a Christian man myself, I thank God for people like you! You do the world a service unlike no other and people like you make the world go ’round’! Please let me know if you ever need anything from me. I am truly in your debt and thankful to you and the Lord for this reunion! Take good care of yourself and keep up the wonderful work! PS Here is a picture of myself and my sister Rachel with the items you sent to me. God Bless–Coby »

Lost ring in Lake Conway, Orlando, Fl….Found!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Rocco was enjoying the afternoon boating and swimming on Lake Conway with friends when he realized his special designed gold and diamond ring was no longer on his finger. Very few rings match the unique design with so many stunning diamonds and the sheer weight of the ring is very impressive! And it was a couple of factors that caused the ring to disappear into the sandy lake bottom. The first thing was the coolness of the water! As most people know there is shrinking in our hands and fingers when we expose them to cool or cold water. The second thing is activity of some kind! Rocco and his friends were horse playing around and that sort of thing has caused many a ring to end up lost and never to be found again. The third thing was the sheer weight of the ring! A mere flip of his hand in cool, wet water would have been enough to send his ring flying. So when Rocco realized his ring had come off he knew right away who he needed to call. Theringfinders.com! You see…this is not the first time Rocco had lost his ring! In 2020 Rocco was shocked when he felt his ring go flying into the darkness when he threw open the lid on the dumpster behind his apartment. Thankfully he go in touch with me and I was able to find his stunning ring hiding under a large bush. But this time it was in the water…in the middle of a lake! I encouraged Rocco to drop a full can of soda or beer or an anchor, or water bottle…anything that could mark the exact spot. Also if there was a way to tie a floatation device of some kind that would help make it easier to locate. Unfortunately they left a buoy tied to an anchor and someone later that evening came along and pulled it up. As the sun was rising the next morning I was paddling out onto the lake straining my eyes to find that buoy and it was nowhere in sight! Fortunately the water over the sand bar was crystal clear and I could easily see the bottom. So I decided to paddle all across the sandbar, gridding my way looking for anything that would indicate where the anchor was left. After an hour of going back and forth I did find a few items on the bottom. A red cup, a face mask and pieces of paper here and there….and then I spotted a water bottle laying on the bottom. It looked like an older bottle and at first I did not think it had anything to do with the ring…but it was the only water bottle I saw during my search. I finally decided to mark the bottle with one of my pvc poles and later came back to it and put out 4 pvc poles in a square around the bottle. I jumped into the water and started grid searching back and forth between the poles. My first pass netted me a bottle cap and a pull tab and as I turned to make a second pass I got a clear signal and BOOM! There was Rocco’s beautiful ring…sparkling and shining in the morning sun and I thanked God for allowing me to find his lost ring so soon! You talk about being amazed and thankful…I was one very happy Ring Finder!

Lost ring and cell phone in Lake Fairview, Orlando, Florida…Found and returned to owner!!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Kelly was volunteering her time assisting handicapped children on paddle boards at the Fairview Marina on June 27th. It was an absolutely beautiful day in the upper 80s, partly cloudy with a slight breeze blowing across the lake. Normally a little wind is OK but with first time paddle boarders, that breeze can put you in the reeds along the edge of the lake where certain critters like to hang out! Kelly and a couple other volunteers were doing their best to keep the kids together and being a bit preoccupied she somehow lost her phone off of her paddle board. She knew approximately where it fell into the water so she figured they would come back later and try and find it. Her first responsibility though was the kids so she continued working with them trying to show them how to use the paddle and how to stay clear of the reeds. One girl was being blown right into a small patch of reeds so Kelly jumped into the water and tried to steer the girl’s board with her hands and as she went to push the board off to the side she felt her large white gold and diamond ring slide off into the water. She was stunned and could not believe what had just happened. Just an hour earlier she lost her phone and now her ring?!! Out where she dropped her phone there was really no way for her to mark the spot but here where she dropped her ring there were green reeds sticking up out of the water and Kelly had the brilliant idea to tie a knot in one of the reeds to mark the « exact spot »! As they finished up with the paddle boarding event Kelly began to wonder how she would ever retrieve her phone and especially her precious ring! She asked if anyone at the marina had a waterproof metal detector. Someone suggested going on line and that led her to theringfinders.com. She called me right away and we met up later on that afternoon. (For these kinds of water searches I use two wet suits and scuba boots to protect me from the elements and other critters who lurk in the warm Florida waters! And I also take with me two gallons of fresh water to rinse off and a change of clean cloths for my ride home!).

First off Kelly wanted me to find her ring as it is one of her most prized possessions! She showed me the reed with the knot tied in the end so I set up my water proof metal detector and began to search the area. I always try and let people know that I will be digging any and all targets that sound even close to what a gold ring would sound like. Pull tabs, nickels, fishing weights, and pieces of aluminum are just some of the items that will sound just like a gold ring. Kelly was anxious to help so I gave her my pin pointer and let her go through each full scoop of debris I dumped into my floating sifter. It took fifteen minutes to finally get her ring and you should have heard her let out a shout of joy! And what a ring too!!

Next was her lost phone. I had four PVC poles to mark the 60 square foot area and after grid searching the inside I covered a 10 foot swath around the outside and NO phone! Kelly was quite sure of the area but when finding a precise spot on water…well it is not an easy thing to do. So I continued to expand the search area keeping to the chest deep water that Kelly described to me earlier. It took another 20 minutes to get that large signal I was looking for and I could feel it with my scuba boots. I did not want to use my scoop for fear of damaging the phone so I pinched it between my feet and brought it up to the light of day. And it was vibrating and lit up so I could see it was going to be just fine. Kelly was elated to have both her phone and her ring back again! It is not often I get to reunite someone with two lost items in one day but I was so thankful that God allowed me to have a role in Kellys life and to see that awesome smile on her beautiful face!

Maybe you have lost something and need my help?! Call or text me ASAP and let’s talk!

Lost prescription glasses, Ponce Inlet, Fl….Found and returned to owner!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

While enjoying a beautiful day at Ponce Inlet beach, Mark had laid his very expensive glasses on one of the speakers under the canopy and completely forgot about them. He and his family spent most of the day relaxing on the beach, listening to their music, swimming and working on the great tan that Mark has! Later in the afternoon the skies began to darken and as much as they hoped it would pass–a big tropical thunder storm quickly came up along with strong winds and lightening off in the distance. Mark and his family frantically grabbed up their towels and belongings, tore down the canopy as fast as they could and made a run for cover. The tide was coming in fast as well and soon the area where they had their things set up was being washed with the high tide salt water waves.

At first they thought they had gotten all their things safely to dry cover and then Mark asked if anyone had seen his glasses. No one had picked them up so as soon as the rain let up Mark made his way down onto the beach and began looking for his glasses. Two days passed and Mark began worrying that his 500 dollar prescription glasses might be gone for good and then a thought came to him. « Treasure Hunter near me! » And after typing that phrase into Google he found my name and number on « theringfinders.com web site and we met later on that very day!

Mark explained what happened and showed me where they set up their canopy two days earlier. I asked a few questions about his glasses. Were they heavy or thin framed? Was the sand soft or hard packed the day the glasses went missing? And I could see a line of sea weed where the high tides had come up to. I started my grid search thinking that just maybe, if his glasses were heavy enough, they may have sunk just under the surface of the sand. So treading lightly I began to swing my coil with Mark watching my every move. I stopped and told Mark to start looking the immediate area over along the high tide mark because just maybe his glasses were light enough that the waves pushed them along and deposited them close by. Ten minutes passed and as I was finishing up detecting the small area I heard Mark say, « Hey..Look at this! » And there, sticking out of the brown sea weed was a thin framed pair of prescription glasses…full of sand and half disguised…but none the less just fine!

Mark was shocked and so thankful to have his glasses back once again! And thanks Mark for calling me and giving me the opportunity to help get your glassed back where they belong!
