My wife and I were working to redirect some water flow from a large rainstorm in our backyard. While doing so, My Wife’s wedding ring slipped off her finger and into the muddy water. After hours and hours of searching we had no luck ( Even with our rented Metal Detector). We reached out to Jeremy and he was out the following day. He found her ring within 20/25 minutes!
A baby’s christening ring — lost in the grass, and a family’s hope restored
Some recoveries stay with you longer than others. This one is from the summer of 2025 — and it carried a weight far greater than the size of the ring itself.
Sandra reached out to me after finding my contact information through TheRingFinders. Her message was filled with worry. During their daughter’s christening that summer, the baby had worn a tiny christening ring — a ring that had been passed down through generations in her family. A symbol of love, tradition, and heritage. And now… it was gone.

My wife and I packed the car with everything we needed. She joined me on the drive — a little over an hour — and the whole way there, we could feel the tension of the situation. Losing a family heirloom is not just losing an object. It’s losing a piece of history.

A few days ago, my wife shared photos from a previous recovery mission — one of those truly memorable ones, when we managed to find a wedding ring that had disappeared in the snow. That post reached farther than we expected.
Suddenly, an acquaintance reached out to her. Another ring had gone missing — this time on a small beach, about an hour and a half from our home. The owner, Urban, was devastated and hoped we might be able to help.
So we packed the car, loaded the gear, and hit the road.
When we arrived, Urban was waiting for us. He pointed out the spot and explained how the ring had slipped off his finger and vanished into the sand and water. I pulled on my drysuit, set up my Minelab Excalibur, and began scanning the area methodically.
It didn’t take long. Maybe ten minutes.
A clear, solid signal — the kind you recognize instantly. I dug carefully, and there it was. The wedding band. Intact, beautiful, and ready to go home again.
Urban was overjoyed. That mix of relief, happiness, and gratitude is hard to describe, but it’s exactly what makes this work so meaningful.
And it all started with a Facebook post.

This young lady lost her beautiful platinum diamond ring set while cleaning up around some shrubs in her back yard with her husband.
At one point she looked down, at her hand and saw they were missing! She was so upset! They looked around the area for a while but couldn’t find them. Mr. Glen googled metal detecting services and found me “THERINGFINDERS.com” page and sent me a text. Mr. Glen also called his son and his son was going to buy a metal detector and try and find it. But Mr. Glen wanted someone that knew how to find them to come out and try first. We set a day and time for me to come out.
I make the drive, after work and found her rings at the base of one of the shrubs they had been cleaning up in less than 5 mins!
They both were so happy and so grateful! I love seeing folks with a smile and full of joy after something as priceless, as these rings were to them, found and returned!

“DIG IT ALL, SAVE SOME RINGS, BURY THE DRAMA!”
When Marissa reached out to me earlier this week, determined to find her wedding ring lost during yard work, I knew we had a challenge ahead. Given the urgency of the situation, I quickly enlisted the expertise of Stephanie Hobbsto take on the search effort as I was not able to get away. Stephanie promptly contacted Marissa, and together they mapped out a plan to scour the yard on Friday. Despite an extensive search that spanned a couple of hours and revisiting some areas multiple times, Stephanie remained optimistic and scheduled a follow-up search for Saturday morning. Undeterred by the obstacles that lay before us – from metal yard edging and woven wire fencing to reinforced concrete and sprinklers – we embarked on a meticulous search. After an hour of searching, I made a few adjustments to my Manticore, methodically working along the wire fence before making my way along the yard edging. Suddenly, a distinct two-tone signal stood out, and with careful excavation, we uncovered the wedding band nestled beneath the mulch. A surge of excitement fueled my next move, and with another swing, the two-tone signal rang out once more, revealing the engagement ring. Overcome with emotion, Marissa’s tears of worry gave way to tears of joy.
Rings recovered 2026-04-25
Kevin called me after a friend of one of my successful recoveries referred me. He lost his
titanium wedding band while at work. He was at a large construction project, working with moving sprinklers & hoses from different lots. It could be on 1 of 4 lots. We agreed on a 6:30 am time for the search.
I met Kevin at the construction site. It is a huge new housing development. He showed me the 4 properties that he was working on. The lots were not that large. I started on the 1st one, no luck. Moved to the second lot, strike 2. The third lot was the biggest, strike 3. But I was not out yet…
The fourth lot, about 5 minutes in, I finally got a good tone. Spread the grass from the newly laid sod, and there was Kevin’s ring. I took some pictures, then called Kevin to come to the 4th lot. He showed up about 5 minutes later. I asked him if there was any other place it might be, he went to the bed of his pickup and started looking there. I held up his ring while we continued to look. The look on his face when he realized that I was holding his ring was priceless. He explained that he was leaving the next day for vacation with his wife & kids to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.
I asked him what his wife would say when she found out he had his ring back. He decided to FaceTime her while I was there. She couldn’t believe it when he held up the ring for her to see. I hope they had a GREAT vacation!
I Love My Hobby!!
Yesterday I found a platinum wedding band for Tim, who lost it while pulling weeds in his garden and moving the weeds and brush to a burn pile
He said he never had the band off in 22 years of marriage and his anniversary is on Friday. So he got it back just in time.
Derrick texted me on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) stating he needed help finding his girlfriend’s (Rachel) rose gold ring with diamonds and a sapphire in Huntsville, AL. I asked how the ring was lost. Derrick replied that him and Rachel had gotten into a little argument, she took off the ring and handed it to him, and he tossed it towards the backyard. This is definitely not the first and won’t be the last ring toss search I’ll receive. It actually happens way more than people think, and I really appreciate their honesty. It’s very important having all the fine details, because I can only find something if I’m searching in the right area. I told Derrick that I’d be more than happy to help and that I could conduct a search when I was off from work on Friday or the weekend.
I met Derrick and Rachel on Friday morning at 9am. I had Derrick stand in the same spot and do a couple of test throws. Derrick felt it was just a light toss and Rachel thought he hurled it. I decided to start searching past the chain link fence in the backyard by where the test rings landed. Derrick and Rachel moved a trampoline out of the search area and I got to work. I made a couple of grid line passes and was about to start checking the neighbor’s yard. I decided to search the small strip of yard before the fence (where Derrick was standing) first, in case it was just a light toss; and sure enough, there was Rachel’s ring! Woo-hoo, thank you, Lord! It had only landed about 10 feet away. Rachel and Derrick were so happy to have the ring back. They both felt really bad about the toss; but hey, things happen. We’re all human and sometimes we let emotions get the best of us. Again, I just really appreciated them being honest with how the ring was lost.

I received a text from a young man at Duke University. He stated he lost a family heirloom class ring. I told him I’d come out tonight and see if I could find it.
I get there and get the story. He was playing frisbee and threw it awkwardly when he felt the ring fly off but didn’t see where it landed.
I start my search and in about 20 mins I found the lost ring in the area of about where he felt it had to have landed. It was found based on the information provided.
I asked him if he could share the history of the ring.
This is a short story of the ring:
“The ring was from my great uncle’s high school graduation in 1953. He later became an army officer and passed away from his service before I was born (I was named after him).
It was then given to my uncle, who passed away, then to my dad who gave it to my sister, who passed it to me. It’s now been in our family for 73 years.”
I was so glad this one was found and returned! All ring recoveries are important, but the sentimental and heriloom ones are the most rewarding.
