Lost Texas A&M Class Ring Woodlands, Texas (Recovered)

Hi John,

I work for The Woodlands Township in The Woodlands and I supervise the
boathouse next to the woodlands mall. Today at work, my worst nightmare
happened. I went to shake someone’s hand and they pulled my ring off and it
bounced off the dock into the lake. It is about 4.5 to 5 ft deep where it fell
in and it is in probably a 5 by 5 ft area next to the dock.

I found you online at www.theringfinders.com when I was looking for metal

detector rentals. Is there ANY way you can help me with this. My ring is/was easily

my most prized possession.

Please, if you get a chance I would love to hear back from you with any help
you might be able to offer me.

I met Kyle this morning at the Woodlands Boat House and  Kyle gave me a first hand

account of how the ring was lost and where he believed it landed in the water.

The job appeared easy from the top side, I was thinking, I’ll jump in this tropical warm

blue water, grab the ring and job complete.

Well the water wasn’t tropical or warm and the bottom of the dock was concrete with

apparently a lot of re-enforced re-bar. I found the ring, lots of luck on this job. I was

thinking to myself, Kyle you just witnessed an early Christmas Miracle 🙂

I was really happy for him, It was clear from the beginning the Ring was very important to him.

Jewelry cache in Clairemont Found!

After seeing me on the news, Bob called me and asked if I could find a cache of jewelry at his home. After discussing the details and the problems of trying to use a detector in a house, I agreed to meet there and give it my best. Bob e-mailed me after my visit and wrote out the whole story so I’ll let him tell it in his own words……

I wanted to take a moment to express to you our sincere appreciation for your time and expert skills in locating some of my wife’s jewelry.   Many of the items were priceless to us as we had acquired them throughout our 30+ years of marriage.  Each piece was surrounded by precious moments in time marking the event that lead to securing the item. 
 
As I described to you my wife had hide the jewelry as all of my immediate family were going on a much anticipated trip to New England last November.  As we were all rushing around getting ready to leave my wife carefully hide the items and we departed for the airport.   
 
We have a great trip, made many memories, and took dozens of great pictures to remember it by.  The next day my wife went to get her jewelry and put if back in her jewel box and could not remember where it was.  For the next month we would take time at night and on the weekends tearing rooms apart to search for it.  She know she had hide it very well and as the months rolled on it certainly appeared that she had.  We concluded that in the haste and excitement of leaving for New England she had thought about so many great places to hide it she could not remember where she had.
 
Fast forward to November 2013.   I had decided to mount another attempt to find her sadly missed and memorable items.   I purchased a modest medal detector and planned to begin my search on the weekend.  During that week I was watching the local news and saw the piece of you finding the wedding ring for a man in Del Mar in 2 feet of water.  Within a few minutes I wrote down your name and the name on your hat.  I did some research on the web and obtained your number.  That night I called you and arranged an appointed the next day. 
 
Upon your arrival I took you though the house and you planned your attack.  You began your careful search challenging your skills and equipment with metal items such as zippers, cloth hangers, door handles, inter-walls nails, pipes and electrical wires.  Searching the attic first, then the master bedroom’s walk in closet and the laundry room.   
 
I was concluding a conference call in the other room when you calmly came walking in and said I think I found it!  I could not believe my eyes, items I had grown to love over the last thirty years, and not seen for more than a year had returned.  We talked for some time and you showed me how you had found them hidden the laundry room.   I thanked you profusely, gave you a small token of appreciation for your time and talent, which would not be expressed in any way, wished you a happy Thanksgiving and awaited my wife’s return. 
 
I can’t describe the smile I had on my face thinking about how happy she would be when she returned to find that you had found her long lost treasures.   I carefully placed them out, like on display, on the bed in the guestroom in anticipation of her return.  I was on the phone when she returned and told her you had to leave and she went on about her business until I had finished my call and called up upstairs.  I would have hung up as soon as she got home but I wanted to surprise her and give her my full attention and experience her profound joy.
 
I called her upstairs, just to talk, as I stood in the guestroom.  She, I think thought we were going to talk about what we were going to do this weekend in preparation of our family get-together this upcoming Thanksgiving week.   As she walked in her eyes got wide and began to cry.  Could not believe what she was seeing.  In her disbelief she asked me if this was really true.  We held each other in happiness for a long time.  She then went and picked up each piece examining them one at a time.  I expanded how you had found what we had been looking for for over a year in a little under an hour and a half!  She was stunned and very appreciative.
 
I am taking the time to write this as both of us wanted to express our sincere and heart felt appreciation for your time and talents.  I wanted to go into detail so you would know the importance and sheer joy my wife and I had when she walked into the room and saw her keepsakes.  Also the value to us of your time and experience.
 
Thank you again.  I have attached a picture of the pouch you found for us.  I wish you and your family a great trip to Las Vegas for you thanksgiving, and a wonderful Christmas.

The only other thing I would add is, inside searches are not easy, but, they they’re not impossible either. If you find you’re in this type of situation, sometimes a fresh set of eyes and ideas will help. Thank you Bob for allowing me full access to search and for the generous reward.

Keys Lost At Blackmud Creek Ravine Edmonton

Received a call from Matt last night around 7:30 to see if I was able to come out and try and find his key fob for his Volkswagen  that he lost on Saturday on a toboggan hill while he was sledding down the hill with his family. I told him if the keys are on the ground I will find them for him. I told Matt I would be there in 30 minutes I meet up with Matt at his house and walked over to the hill with my trusty V3i, Matt told me that he spent some time on Saturday evening looking for the keys but it was too dark to see also he was out early Sunday morning with no luck. Matt showed me where he was sledding on the hill and he had a spare set of keys on him, I tested his key fob and was getting a visual display of 37! Within 5 minutes I received a clear loud 37! on my unit Bingo!!! Key fob was located buried in about 4 inches of snow, another happy client Thanks Matt.

Metal Detecting for 2 Lost Rings in Pemberton, BC

I got a call the other day from a young lady named Alex who lost 2 rings in the snow. She and her husband were visiting from New Zealand and while driving up past Pemberton they pulled over to the side of the road so Alex could made a snow angel.  After getting back in the truck and heading for a friends place she realized 5 minutes later that her rings were gone. These were her diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding band. You can imagine how devastated she was!They turned around and went back and searched for 1 1/2 hours in the snow and cold… but no rings… There was one thing I never talked about in my video below… Alex told me that her and her husband were very lucky to be alive! shortly after they were heading home they hit black ice and Flipped the truck…What a bad day!!!A few days after, Alex got on the internet and found The Ring Finders, instead of renting a metal detector she called me. We discussed the search and we agreed to meet,  I would drive her and her cousin to the location to find the rings as her husband was in a business meeting.It was a good 2 1/2 hour drive, when we arrived at the location. I could tell where she was making snow angels and I thought this would be a fast recovery, but I was wrong. Almost an hour later near the side of the road where they parked the truck I got a good strong signal. I bent down and moved the snow to see the glint of gold…Only a few feet away was the second ring. The smile tells the story! Lost item in Eastern Washington

The trees have ears..?

The trees have eyes you might be saying, however deep in the mountains of northeast Washington  they had ears. What I mean is that, a gentleman named Skip had lost his hearing aid while out hunting. After looking in the dark for a few minutes and returning the next day to find that it had snowed, Skip decided to look for help. He called a local metal detecting shop and asked about renting a detector. The sales man knew he wouldn’t have any luck so he told him to look up the Ring Finders. So a few days ago I returned Skip’s call and set up a date to go looking. it was 19 degrees, the ground was frozen, but the sun was out. It took one and half ours to drive out to the location, 5 minutes to walk to the area, and 2 minutes for me to turn on my Whites DFX.  After Swinging it around and just barely hearing a change in the threshold while in pinpoint mode, Skip and I started looking on our hands and knees. Just moments into it Skip pulled out a piece of the aid from underneath a few twigs. So then we started moving around some branches and I spotted the other half that contained the inner workings for the aid. Happy, cold and elated to have helped this man, I thought I am so glad this was my first ring finders happy ending. Thank you for calling me Skip it means more than anything to have had the chance to help you.

100 years of Cuban heritage found and returned on Cape Cod, MA.

Monday November 11, 2013 was a beautiful day for a search for a lost ring.

I was told of a lost ring by my detecting partner who could not go on the search. I contacted a second partner and we headed to Falmouth, MA to find a century old hand made Cuban diamond ring. It was Elena’s great-grandmother’s ring that Elena had lost it in the “back yard” while playing with her dog. Her “back yard” was about 20’x40′. Ah, but that was not the “back yard”. We had to walk to the town hall’s back yard…a much larger area. A quarter of the way through the second pass I heard a strong signal and saw the ring. We also recieved the following E-mail Thank You note:

Last November 8th I was playing with my dog, at the park. Suddenly, while I was throwing the ball my ring slipped out of my finger. I felt it fly away!

I expend the next two hours on my knees trying to find that ring. However, it was no where to be seen. The grass was to high, there were too many leaves on the ground. My husband help me, my neighbor, some passer-by … I went back late at night with a torch. I was back on early Saturday morning.

My husband inserted an ad at Craigslist, asking for some help or information to rent a metal-detector. We were so surprised when Richard Browne called us on Saturday morning offering his help. That only happens on movies!

He and Eleanor H. arrived soon after and, sure enough, they found my ring.

It was much farther that I ever expected. There is no way I would have ever found it.

This ring has been in my family for the past hundred years. It was my great-grandmother engagement ring. She died in Cuba soon after my grandmother was born. My grandma and her brother where sent back to Spain when they were really young, so little more than that ring is left of my Cuban family. It is much more than a ring.

I am so glad that Richard and Eleanor were able to find it. I would never be able to express with words how thankful I am.

Lost Man’s Wedding Ring in Columbus, OH. “FOUND”

About two weekends ago, I received an email  from a guy that has lost his wedding band. Over the weekend as he was raking and putting leave in trash bags. As he notice that his ring was missing.  He has been looking for the ring since. Dumping the bags full of leaves and searching though them with his bare hands. After a few emails, a search date was set. I show up and started my search, after about a hour the ring was found in one the the many piles from dumping the bags. He was very happy to have the ring back.

Lost Platinum Wedding Band recovered in Severna Park, Maryland!

The streak continues! A gentleman by the name of Brock emailed me several days ago about his lost wedding ring.  Again, I can’t emphasize enough how important taking good notes, both physically and/or mentally, are important to the success of finding your lost item. Brock did an excellent job at this which in turn made the chances of success very likely. Brock not only had the details fresh in his mind of exactly what happened, but he physically marked the spot he was standing on his property when he believed the ring flew off. He did go out and buy a metal detector and gave it a shot himself, but quickly realized that having a metal detector is only half the battle. Knowing how to operate it to its fullest capabilities is a must.  Once I arrived at his home,  I was able to recover the ring in about 25 minutes. It was about 5 yards from the spot he marked, buried in a small pile of leaves.  Here are a few pictures of the ring itself and a very happy Brock!Brocksringphoto a

 

Remember, if you are unfortunate enough to lose a ring, piece of jewelry, keys and the like,  attention to your surroundings is the most important factor. The other is to contact someone that not only has a metal detector, but the skill and experience to use it. Please be sure to check everyone’s blog in your area if you need help. Once you do that, the decision who to contact should be an easy one based on success.

Ring lost at Del Mar Dog Beach Found!

I was checking the lost and found ads on my local Craig’s List, when I come across an ad that says a ring was lost at the Del Mar Dog Beach and that they were hoping to hear that someone had found it. Thom had been playing with his dogs along a river that emptys into the ocean and while throwing something in the river for them to fetch, his ring went with it. He, his wife, and relatives searched but couldn’t find it. I contacted Thom and told him that I would be happy to search for it if he’d like me to. He gave me the details and I planned to get there right away before someone else might happen upon it that might not know that Thom had lost it. It had already been a few days since the loss so The tides had changed a bit in the mean time. When I arrived, I was dismayed to find the tide was way too high for me to search. I tried around the area but I couldn’t get close enough to ground zero to do a thorough search. Low tides were expected in a little over a week so I told Thom I’d be back to do it right. Fast forward 10 days and I made it back at a nice low tide. After an hour and a half or so and progressively deeper water, I finally hit that good sound in about 18″ of water and 8′ out into the rushing river. No sand or muck in that section! All river rock! I figured it would be on the surface but nothing was visible. I dug down several inches and pulled out his ring. As happy as I was to find it and get out of that current, Thom was much happier with the news. Until he came to the house today to pick it up, he was still incredulous that it was found. It was my pleasure to find it and also to meet you. Thank you very much for the reward.

Keys lost while shoveling snow in Edmonton

Edmonton had a heavy snowstorm yesterday receiving six inches of the white fluffy stuff, I received a call from Steven this afternoon in regards to his set of keys that he had lost while shoveling snow at his mother’s house this morning. I met up with Steven this afternoon and he showed me where he thought he had lost his keys along the sidewalk. I pick up my machine, went to work and after fifteen minutes, Bingo, found his set of keys. Another happy client!
