Wedding Ring Set Tossed in Anger… Adelanto, CA. … Found Four Days Later

I’ve learned that this happens more often than most people realize. Monique had thrown her diamond wedding set in a passion filled moment. It was tossed in in the front yard that is landscaped with large white /gray gravel. Adelanto is located in the high desert of Southern California where they landscape with gravel to conserve water. I drove 90 miles from my base in Newport Beach the day we discussed the details of the loss.

Monique purchased a used metal detector and they spent four days trying to find the white gold wedding ring set. The rings were soldered together which makes a better target to find with a metal detector. They may have been able to find the rings if they had experience using a metal detector. All metal detectors are not equal and it does take time to learn how to use one. I’m sure the four days of searching for the ring set were frustrating.

Monigue’s brother was waiting for me when arrived to show me the location. I could see many places where they had moved gravel trying to retrieve metallic signals. I only received two signals that could have been gold. The white gold ring set blended into the white/ gray gravel and were almost invisible when I retrieved them. After waiting for Monique to return from doing her errands, I was able to personally give her precious rings.

I want to thank Monigue for being honest. Also, for allowing me to write the real story. I’ve been on many calls where the person was embarrassed to tell me how they lost their rings. There have also been on calls where they pretended to throw the ring. Then there have been calls where the ring was picked up by the other person involved in the argument and held in retaliation. We can’t find them all. We do have the best advantage to find metallic keepsakes because we have the best metal detectors, know how to use them and experience with all types of searches.

Lost wedding ring/set recovered, Bass Lake, Indiana

Julie had walked out to the docked pontoon, boarded it and was cleaning the seats near the rear of the deck. At one point, she was near the rearmost deck rail by the outboard engine. Her wedding ring (soldered set) slipped off her finger and took the plunge into the water. She said she saw it go into the water. Her and her husband tried to recover the ring to no avail.

They turned to the internet, searching for any means to find a lost ring in the water and came across the RingFinders website and contacted me.

Julie said she Always takes her ring off to go out by the water, but simply forgot, this one time!
As usual, being near a pier/dock, I had the usual undesirable targets to deal with, like nuts, bolts, metallic debris and hot rocks.

After about five minutes I got a good sounding signal on the detector, crossed my fingers (betting this was gonna be it). I located the target with my pinpointer and could feel a ring with a really large topside in my fingers. Looked to be it!

Didn’t waste any time, turned and carefully handed it over to Julie, who broke out in tears crying. I was at the ready to catch the ring or her, just in case.

A lot of family was there, for Father’s Day, they all expressed their appreciation.

Lost Watch and Wallet at Hermosa Beach in the Sand.. Wallet Found

Dan had called me asking for help finding his expensive watch that was lost on the beach, two nights ago. He  mentioned that there was also a wallet lost at the same time. 

It’s the beginning of summer and the beach crew uses tractors to rake the beach daily. Dan lives nearby and believed that the area of the loss was not in a location that was raked by the beach cleaning crews.

Our hopes were that the watch was under the dry sand. The wallet may have been exposed and picked up by a person, as the beach has been very crowded. Dan sent me a screenshot photo of the area. After searching the location late that afternoon, I couldn’t find the watch. 

I did find a wallet under the sand. My detector picked up a signal because it had a metallic electronic key inside.  The only problem was the driver license and credit cards belonged to a person named Ron. Luckily there was a card inside the wallet with his phone number. After contacting him I was informed he was Dan’s friend and that this was the wallet lost the same time the watch was lost. 

We now knew we were in the right location where the watch may be hiding under the sand. After several attempts cross gridding the location with my metal detector, the watch could not be found. The losses occurred in the dark. It was probably not under the sand and someone may have picked it up the next morning? 

I know that the watch was no longer in the area searched, but I had to be satisfied that I was able to return the wallet to Ron. I can’t believe the wallet was still on this beach after three days. Beach rakes. many people on the beach and other people using metal detectors on the beach, are reasons to contact a member of TheRingFinders.com as soon as possible.

Lost Ring in Punta Cana – Found!

A couple of months back, I got a call from a guy who said he had lost a ring in Punta Cana. I get calls from all around the United States for lost rings, even though I’m in Wisconsin. Google picks up my lost ring blogs, newspaper articles or podcasts that I’ve been featured in over the years. Neil told me he had lost his platinum Cartier ring at the Now Onyx Resort in Punta Cana. Wow! I had stayed at the exact same resort with my family only months earlier.  What are the chances?

Lost Cartier Ring

Neil found a blog of mine about a lost ring at the beach in Punta Cana. I was there on vacation and doing what I call « hobby hunting ».  Most of the time I spend metal detecting is for other people’s ring back in Wisconsin.  When we go on vacation, I always pack my detector so I can get some time hunting in the water.  Would you believe I found a lost wedding ring in the ocean?  So, I posted a blog with a picture to try to locate the couple. The picture of this ring is to the left. I still am hopeful that I can locate M + V someday.

Neil found the blog post and called me at 6:00 pm. After hearing his story, I felt the need to help even though I was in WI.  Would you believe I had a contact of a local guy in Punta Cana?  Well through the power of Facebook, I sent him a message and he responded instantly.  Roland was in contact with Neil within a couple of hours and they set a plan to search the next day.

Lost Tungsten Wedding Band in Naia Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring hunt began when I got a call from Robert whose retired Army and lives in Pearl City. While enjoying the day at Naia Lagoon he was swimming with his grandson and while assisting him to shore Robert’s Tungsten Wedding Band came off in waist deep water and disappeared in the murkiness. After posting on craigslist for a metal detectorist assist my good buddy Mike informed Robert to get a hold of me as the resort’s detectorist. We agreed to meet the next day after work. We both work on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam JBPHH. After arriving Robert showed me the location and I fired up the Nox to conduct the grid search. On the fourth leg and dead center in the grid I got a nice tone and in one scoop there was Robert’s ring. Robert was obviously ecstatic and told me he was now « Out of the dog house ». Aloha to Robert!

Wedding Ring Lost During Family Gathering At Topsail Beach Found

Cody’s (the husband) story of tragedy to triumph…

So we were spending the day on the beach with visiting family and 13 days after celebrating our one year anniversary as the vehicle keys were being pulled from the beach bag along came my wife’s wedding band. After thoroughly searching the vehicle and bag we headed back to the beach at sundown to search the parking lot and do a quick check of the beach we decided instead of wasting more tears we would wait till the morning To seek help I called a business and got the recommendation to give Mr. Ray of Emerald Isle Metal Detecting a call. Less than two hours later he called us over as he was kneeling on the beach and my wife’s tears turned to happy tears as she picked her wedding band from the sand. We our forever grateful! Wedding band recovered on Manasquan Beach by Dennis Burlingame

While at work I got a call from Ben and April. While having a family day on the beach April lost her wedding band, turned out it was their last day of vacation and they were heading home the next day. Not letting her go home without it, I told them I’d meet the as soon as I got off work. Met them at their rental house and April took me to where they were sitting on the beach. Started to do a grid back and forth with no luck. I tried a little off to the side and that didn’t help either. Went back to the first grid I started and a minute later I found her band. So glad I was able to give a Happy ending to their vacation and she is going to go home with her lovely band back on her finger.

Goldsboro Woman’s Wedding Ring Lost At Atlantic Beach, NC Returned

Tonya’s friend came to visit from Arizona for the weekend.  Since her friend loves beaches, they headed from Goldsboro, NC to Atlantic beach,NC.  Tonya had placed her wedding set inside a pocket of her bag.  She feels when she moved her bag on the beach the rings fell from the pocket.  The wedding ring fell from the bag while the engagement ring was found in the bottom of the bag.  A detectorist friend of hers in Hawaii posted a plea in the local Facebook page.  Detectorist Daen tagged me in the post and I headed to the beach.  After a few passes the ring had been found and all involved were shortly notified.  I met Tonya’s family the next day and the ring was returned to it’s proper place.  The story of Tonya & Tomas’ ring can now continue to share in their life together.

Mother’s Gift Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned on Holden Beach, NC

I and my wife were on our way from dinner when I decided I wanted to spoil my granddaughters with some Krispy Kreme donuts just before bedtime, cause that’s what grandpa’s do. As I was paying for the donuts my phone rang. Noticing an out of state number, I was pretty sure this was a lost ring call. When I answered, Jennifer said she had lost a ring on Holden Beach and wondered if I could help find it. I asked my normal questions of: where was it lost on the beach, dry sand, wet sand or in the water, and at what time. She replied it was at 5 p.m. but she wasn’t exactly sure where. She knew she had the ring on when she got to the beach. She also said she was with her triplets at the water’s edge and then when she was leaving the beach she was putting shoes on one of the babies and noticed her ring was gone. She continued by saying that a pretty good size wave was coming in and she was scurrying to get the kids out of the way and thinks it may have fallen off then. I got a little excited when she told me what time she lost it, because high tide was at 5:23 p.m. and it’d be after 9 p.m. when I got there, so I wasn’t going to get wet! I told her I’d be there in an hour.

When I got to the address she sent me, she was outside waiting. I got a few more details as we walked out to the beach. She told me this ring was her mother’s and that her mother gave it to her for a birthday present and for the birth of her triplets. The ring was White Gold and was extremely sentimental to her. Just to be safe I turned my detector on as we walked to where she was with the babies just to make sure it hadn’t fallen off as they were leaving. We got to the spot and I started a grid search right at the cut line for the high tide. Within a few steps I got a good 8/9 and started digging. I was down at least 6 inches and thought her ring couldn’t possibly be this deep in 4 hours. Figuring the target ‘can slaw’ (pieces of a beer can that have deteriorated over time with the sand and water movement), I did about 3 more grid lines towards the ocean. With no other signals, I was sure the ring was in the hole. I went back and took 3 more scoops of sand out, checked the hole and knew I had the target in the third scoop. As I spread the sand on the beach from the scoop, Jennifer said, “There’s my ring.” She reached down and grabbed her ring and did a very excited happy dance. She was beyond excited and so were I and her father-in-law, Mickey, who had come out on the beach to watch. The feeling of returning someone’s treasure is incredible and is exactly why I do this.

Lost ring in American Fork, Utah: found

I got a call to find a lost SD memory card. A professional photographer had done an engagement photo session, then unfortunately lost the memory card in the park. I searched for a couple of hours, but the card was just not there. Someone must have found it first. I really hate it when I can’t find something I’m looking for, but if it isn’t there, I can’t find it.

The photographer mentioned that while he was looking for the card, he talked to someone else that was looking for a lost ring. He pointed out the area, so a few days later when I had time, I returned to the park. After a couple of hours of searching in the sun, I found a ring. Then the detective work started. I found the name and number of the park activity organizer. She was able to connect me with the man that had lost the ring.

Here’s the story: The American Fork City summer festival was underway. Art Dye park was full of people enjoying the activities, including food, concerts, and a big bubble machine. Someone challenged a local high school teacher to dive into the big pile of bubbles. He got a running start, dove in, jumped to his feet, then shook the bubbles off his hands. His white gold wedding ring flew off into the pile of bubbles. They searched, and even came back with a metal detector, but they couldn’t find the ring. I was super happy to be able to return the ring. High school teachers put up with enough grief, so I’m happy to be able to help out when I can.
