Lost Diamond Ring Recovered In Apollo Beach

On a beautiful afternoon in February, Katie was enjoying the day with friends on her dock.
She took off her rings for a moment and accidently dropped them! The wedding band landed on the dock but the diamond engagement ring fell between the boards into the water below!
Due to the timing of the tide, I arranged a time the following morning at 7:00 am to search below the dock at low tide.
I climbed down the ladder and started detecting the area. The bottom was covered in oyster shells and it was difficult to get good footing. I slowly worked my way under the dock to the area where the ring was lost.
I started a visual inspection of the area beneath the dock in the event the ring landed on any of the supports. I then began detecting the area and heard a very faint signal next to the wood post. I did my best digging into the shells and after the second scoop, I felt as though I had retrieved the item.
I slowly started picking out the shells when a bright sparkle caught my eye. The ring was in the scoop!

Sparklers in the Grass…..

As Amanda was starting to celebrate today, she started by taking a plunge into a cool pool. Shortly after a volleyball game started. After splashing around a bit, she got out, got dressed and wandered around the yard with some sparklers, the children and dogs. Sitting for a bite to eat a friend noticed her ring missing. Quite a few people ran to the pool, but the missing ring was not there. I started my grid search on the side of the yard where she had been. My MXT metal detector was quiet but then I heard a loud BOOM in the headphones! I yelled out that fireworks just sounded in my headphones! As Amanda and friends came running, I parted the grass and revealed some pretty sparklers in the form of diamonds and a gold ring hiding in the grass! Amanda was thrilled and took a few minutes to catch her breath. Now the fuse was lit to a grand celebration!

Gold Bracelet Recovered at Redington Beach

Irene reached out for help locating a gold bracelet her daughter, Lea had lost at Redington Beach. The bracelet was had sentimental value as it was a gift from her grandmother who had recently passed. The bracelet was likely lost in one of two areas where Lea and her brother were playing on the beach.
On the following day, I went out to the beach and started detecting the areas where Irene described. I performed a thorough search of the first area with no luck. The second area was more tricky due to not having an exact location and trying to work around people who were relaxing by the water and enjoying the evening at the beach. After a few passes, I heard a nice sound and looked down to see the bracelet barely visible in the sand!
Unknown to me, one of Irene’s friends was at the beach when I found the bracelet and phoned Irene to share the good news. I made contact with Irene later in the evening and set a plan to make the return the next day.
I met up with Irene and Lea at her BMX race event in Oldsmar on Sunday to return the bracelet. It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed cheering Lea on to a second place finish in her race!

Lost Promise Ring Recovered at the University of Tampa

I received a text from Haley, a student at the University of Tampa who needed my help locating a promise ring from her boyfriend she lost in Plant Park while laying in the sun with friends the day before.
My wife and I both graduated from UT and we were excited to go back to the campus. We both went to meet Haley and a couple of her friends at the loss location early on a Saturday morning, before most college students were awake.
Haley pointed out the spot where they were on the grass and I got to work gridding the area approximately 20’ by 20’. I covered the area thoroughly with no luck and I could see by Haley’s body language that she was losing hope.
Next, I started expanding the search area and got a nice sounding signal 10-15’ away from the initial search area. It took about 40 minutes, but the ring had been found. Haley was moved to tears and was so thankful to have her ring back!
Unfortunately I forgot to take photos at this recovery, but Haley did send me a photo of the ring afterward.

Men’s Gold & Diamond Wedding Band Recovered in Tampa FL

Dustin, a landscaper by trade had lost his wedding ring mowing a customer’s large yard. He wasn’t sure where it had come off, but he spent most of the day on the front and side of the property.

I took a drive to the loss location after work with my largest coil and started moving as quickly as I could with the limited daylight remaining.
I started on the left side of the property working from the driveway to the right in rows covering the front yard. When I reached the end of the house, I changed directions to cover the large side yard working from the road to the back of the property.
I had covered about half of the side yard when it started to become difficult to see, and I had not brought my head lamp with me to continue after dark. Just as I was about to give up for the evening, I hit a smacker of a signal and I could see the ring laying on the ground waiting to be found!

Dustin was visiting his daughter in the hospital after work so I drove there to meet him and make the return in the hospital parking lot.

Quickest Recovery Ever!!!!

I got text from Emily while the wife and I were visiting the kids and grandkids in Richland today; watching the 4th of July parade.  Emily, while visiting her parents on Lake Michigan, lost her engagement ring the night before watching South Haven’s fireworks display.  I’m an hour away from home and she’s an hour west of me but I just happened to have a brand new detector with me that I was hoping to try out this weekend.  Emily had not slept the night before and was physically ill she was so upset over losing her engagement ring.  She went as far as buying an inexpensive metal detector in an attempt to locate it with no luck.  When I arrived, she and her mother were still searching.  As Emily was filling out the paperwork and describing to me what it was I was searching for and the general area she thought had she lost it in; I turned on my new Garrett Vortex VX9, made one sweep and got a double beep, ringing up on the display at 55 and thought to myself, “Whoah, it can’t be that easy!!!!”  Sure enough, I put my pin-pointer in the sand and scooped up the ring in a handful of sand and presented Emily with her lost treasure.  She immediately started crying and waved her mother over to see.  That search, literally, took 10 seconds.  The wife and I sat with Emily and her parents on their back porch overlooking Lake Michigan for over an hour chatting and had a wonderful time.

Received a call from Chris explaining that his gold ring that had been passed down from his grandfather had fallen off his finger while at the beach with family. Chris said that it was not a very expensive piece but held extreme sentimental value. Chris and his family frantically searched themselves, but to no avail. I made arrangements to meet up with Chris after his dining reservations last night. We met on Guerney St beach at just about dark, and Chris directed me to the general area where he and his family had been sitting. His ring was recovered a few minutes later, much to his relief. I received an anxious call from Heather yesterday. Heather explained that her sister Holly lost their fathers gold ring while tossing a football with her daughter. She went to toss the ball and the ring flung right off and dissappeard into the sand. Luckily Heather knew who to call. Took the ten minute ride over to St Louis Ave beach in Wildwood Crest.
