Lost Gold Crown tooth in North Spokane WA, FOUND!!!

  • from Spokane (Washington, United States)

I was at work and two minutes away from starting my weekend when I got a call from a guy wanting to rent a metal detector. I explained I don’t rent them out but I am a professional and can look for his lost item right now. We discussed a few other details and then I made my way to the house. See, the gentleman had been attempting to remove the gold from an old tooth from a long lost relative. His first attempt on the first tooth was successful. So the method of using a hammer to beat the tooth that was wrapped in a paper towel was attempted again. However, this attempt caused the tooth to go flying. Speaking of flying I flew  to his house and quickly we walked to the back yard. I was showen a 2ft 2ft swath of grass, in said grass hid a tooth. So I summed my inner tooth fairy and began to scan the grass with my garret carrot. Then BAM,the pinpointer buzzed with excitement as I pulled back the grass revealing the tooth. A record setting search, taking less then 30 seconds. I have to really give thanks to the guy for giving me a tip even though the gold from that tooth was really needed. So my prayers and thanks go out to you, may God bless and heal all the broken things in your life.

This was my #11th gold ring (12th – 1 silver – overall) recovery/returned for the year!

Got a call a day after Mother’s Day.

This lady had lost her mothers ring on Mother’s Day while kayaking with her grandson.

She was enjoying the weather and spending time with her grandson when they suddenly hit some fast moving water and it took them into some downed tree branches. Shen she hit she flipped over and while trying to pop back up and ensure her grandson was safe, she felt this priceless family heirloom slip off into the fast moving water! She just knew it was gone forever. She turned to the internet in search for help. By doing so she found me, 2.5 hours away, and reached out in hopes that I could help her out.

It wasn’t until May 17th before we could connect and plan an attempt to recover this ring out of the fast moving water.

I got up and drove the 2.5 hour journey in hopes it would be a successful trip….

This is what happened… I get there at about 10:30 am, we walked the 400 yards to get to the rivers edge. There was a 10-15 foot embankment we had to gingerly ease down to the water. Once down then I had to walk up current in freezing cold 3 foot, fast moving water with my detector and a scoop while climbing over logs in the river against the current.

I finally get to the spot and quickly realized, I can’t use the scoop with all the gravel and current. I placed it into the downed tree and kept scanning. About 30 mins later I get a 14-15 VDI on the MX SPORT and I knew that was her ring, problem was I couldn’t get to it. It was under a down branch and the water was moving too fast.

I had to clean up the area and make a way to the spot, use goggles to peer in the water and hopefully see it laying there. BOOM, I could see it and was able to reach down and grab it!

I showed the lady and hooked it on my D-ring for safe keeping while we made it back to the bank to climb back up the 10-15 foot embankment. Once up top we were able to cheer and celebrate the successful recovery!

That needle in the hay stack!

I was called out today to look for a gold ring that Mr. Harris lost. This ring used to be his Grandfather’s. His ring was lost while feeding his horses about 5 months ago in December and found in May. I only had to search for about 5 minutes and found it in the dirt just by the fence. I am truly glad I could find his family heirloom and bring closure.

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring – Cape Hatteras National Seashore, NC – FOUND!

  • from New Smyrna Beach (Florida, United States)

I got a call from Maeva on Thursday morning around 7:30 am. She said that her sister, Bianca, had lost her wedding ring on Hatteras Island and needed help.  She said that they had to leave to go back to Canada today and they really needed my help right away.

I told them that Hatteras is a no-go for metal detectors and is administered by the National Park Service.  I would have to get permission and probably be observed by a NPS employee.  They understood.

As I drove, I called the NPS and explained that the ladies from Canada had lost their ring and had to return home today.  I met with Maeva, her sister Bianca and their mom Nathlie.  Bianca, who owned the rings, told me that they lost 3 rings.  One ring was found immediately near the parking area.  The other two were a wedding set but the one they really wanted was the engagement ring with the most diamonds.  They showed me the area that they had been in from the parking area to the beach and explained that they thought they lost it when she opened her purse.

The NPS contacted me and arranged for Mark to supervise my detecting.  I began at the area the ladies had found one ring thinking the others would be close.  No such luck.  The area was target rich with lots of trash items, but after about 30 minutes I had a good hit.   It was the engagement ring!

Later I Facetimed Bianca.  I told her that I had good news and bad news, which do you want first?  She said give me the bad news.  I said that I had only been able to recover one ring.  Then I moved the camera to show her the engagement ring.  She was ecstatic!

Thanks to NPS employees Mike and Mark who made this recovery possible!

UPDATE:  Shipping this ring to Canada was complicated…complete with the owner being taxed for what Canada thought was a purchase and me having to make a statement that I was simply returning a lost possession.  I took nearly a month to make it home.

A fellow Ringfinder received a call to look for the Diamond stud earring. He didn’t find it. I told him I could hunt with my XP Deus 1 with my HF coil at 74 kHz . He gave me the map as to where it was lost. I notched out every signal that could not be the item and found it shortly. The earring had just been given as an anniversary present 2 days before. I told her to get it insured.

Lost Wedding Ring Returned in Calgary…..8 months later.

  • from Cochrane (Alberta, Canada)

May 14,2022

Samuel called me. He lost his wedding ring……8 months earlier while closing the gate at an RV storage lot. When it happened, he searched, rented a metal detector twice and returned to rake. He did everything anyone who has lost something should do. When I was speaking to him, I really had my doubts about it. Time is the enemy. In the end I agreed to take a look. On a Saturday morning I met Samuel and we looked.  Based on his description it should have been right there and he should have found it right away. With snow on the ground when it happened, we guessed that maybe a vehicle drove over it and moved it or maybe it was plowed. So I expanded the search area and did the sides of the road. That is when I heard the sound I needed to hear. I picked up the ring and gave it to Samuel. He was totally overwhelmed in emotion and incredibly grateful. When I took a look at the ring, I could tell why.  I am glad it is back where it belongs.

Lost Medallion in Lake swimming

  • from Dallas (Texas, United States)
Contact:

Having a awesome day playing with Kids in the lake, then Our client decided to swim some laps from pier to pier.  Just as he was getting out of the lake he realized his Gold Chain and Gold Maedallion which he always wore was gone.  This was a generational family gift passed down from great grandfather to grandfather to father to him.  He screamed and everyone got in the water dragging feet in the 4-6ft deep waters.  They spent hours looking for it until darkness set in.  In desperation he got on the internet thinking maybe he could rent a Underwater Metal Detector, in the process of the search he found us , Don & Ellen Wilson with Dallas Ring Finders.  Professional Metal Detectorists who also did underwater detecting.  Contacting me a 9:45pm on Mothers Day, we answered the call.  Set up a time to drive 3 hours to Jewett, Tx to search the lake 2 days later.  After nearly 2 hours of searching the area he thought it would be in we widen out our search grid and as I was bringing up my water scoop with a target I saw something gold in color flutter away back down into the lake.  I knew I had it, instantly I detected again and found the object, carefully scooping the item, I slowly raised the scoop to the Surface and there it was shinning like only gold can even in the middle of the muck and mud. After lots of yelling and whoops of happiness we got some great video and photos of another happy client.  Another Great Find for the Dallas Ring Finders.
