Lost Platinum Ring Underwater Found in Waterford Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

In The Shadows of The Seaweed…..

FIND No. 250!!!

….One more splash in the cool water was all Patrick wanted. Once on shore standing in the sand, he noticed his ring missing. He wondered where it went and looked in his towel hoping it was in there. Nope. He was leaving town the next day and was in panic mode. I saw the water and rushed right in hoping to cool off for a while longer unlike my last recovery. Starting out neck deep I slowly worked my way towards shore savoring the cool clear water enveloping me. Then Patrick’s wife pointed to a spot she remembered him standing. I slowly drifted over to scan the metal detector coil around and sure enough the detector signaled to me good metal. Descending under the water about 4 feet with my pin pointer Patrick’s ring revealed itself under 3 inches of sand, quite unusual for just being dropped. So, all back on shore and happy Patrick can leave town with his ring and I got to cool off longer!

Lost White Gold Ring Underwater Found in Stoney Creek Metropark Shelby Township Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

In The Shadows of The Seaweed….

One last dip in the cool water was all that Ashley and the family wanted. As sunset approached, back on shore and dry they headed for the vehicle, but her husband noticed his ring missing. Where was it he thought? On the sand or in the water? With no way to search I met them the next day. I wanted to cool off so I decided to start metal detecting in the water. Ashley pointed to an area she remembers husband standing in the water. With dusk approaching I wanted to stay in the water and cool off longer, but that spot was where his ring was! Everyone was now happy…… maybe next time I can stay in longer!

Last night I got a call from a number from Hungary. I figured I was getting spammed so I let it go to voice mail. What it was though was a family from Hungary on a once in a lifetime vacation in the U.S. had been swimming in the ocean across from their Hotel Mar Monte in Santa Barbara. Violet had been standing knee deep at high tide when a sneaker wave came up and knocked her down and her wedding ring fell off into the surf. The other problem was they were leaving the next day (today at 11am) so I needed to get there fast and early. I hit the road at 4am so I could get out on East Beach at 5am. I got to the location and began a grid search from the slope down into the water. On my fourth pass I got the sound I had been looking for on my Minelab Manticore and after 3 scoops I could hear clanging in the scoop but I couldn’t see due to the darkness. I grabbed my phone and turned on the flashlight and there it was, Violet’s ring!

The whole family was pumped as the lost ring had seemingly put a damper on the entire vacation but thanks to Dave The RingFinder it was going back to Hungary.

Lost iphone FOUND! Margate, NJ By Jeffrey Laag

Last evening I received a call from Jess. Jess explained that she was enjoying some time with family and friends at Tidewaters in Margate, New Jersey. Jess had taken her phone out while attempting to capture the sunset when the phone slipped from her hand and disappeared into the murky depths below the dock she was standing on. After speaking with Jess, we coordinated a time to meet that coincided with this mornings low tide.  I met up with Jess and her mother this morning and they directed me to the area where the phone went in. After about an hour of sifting thru black mud, crabs, clams, and metal debris I managed to locate Jess’s phone. The device was still on and appeared to be completely undamaged from the ordeal. As with most folks now a days a good portion of their captured memories reside on their phone so getting it back was a huge relief for Jess. Another successful recovery another happy client!

Fireworks celebrations create lasting memories, but they sometimes end with valuable jewelry disappearing into the sand.

Josh contacted Ring Finders South Jersey after his wife lost a gold earring featuring a beautiful pink sapphire during the Fourth of July fireworks in Stone Harbor.

After searching unsuccessfully for two days, Josh called for professional help.

Within thirty minutes, we met on the beach and identified where the family had been sitting.

Using a professional metal detector, I began a careful grid search of the area.

Just ten minutes later, the detector alerted me to a promising signal beneath the sand.

One scoop uncovered Josh’s wife’s missing gold earring with its pink sapphire safely preserved.

The relief and excitement made another successful recovery especially rewarding.

The Perfect Birthday Surprise: Lost Gold Ring Recovered in Oak Forest

  • from Lockport (Illinois, United States)

On July 29, Michelle called to tell me that her mom, Cindy, had lost a gold ring in the backyard of her home in Oak Forest, Illinois—my boyhood hometown!

Michelle explained that Cindy had recently lost an impressive amount of weight. As a result, she was wearing a pair of snug-fitting jeans. While trying to squeeze her gold wedding band into her front pocket, the ring slipped from her fingers, struck the driveway with a distinct ping, and disappeared into the grass bordering the driveway.

For weeks, the family searched the yard without success. Finally, Michelle decided to throw a « Hail Mary » and contacted her local Ring Finder—me!—through theringfinders.com.

I made the drive to Oak Forest, where Michelle showed me the general area where her mother believed the ring had fallen. I unpacked my equipment and got to work, but it quickly became apparent that this search would be more challenging than I had expected.

The yard was littered with metallic targets—the remnants of countless backyard barbecues, pool parties, and years of family gatherings. Every sweep of the detector produced multiple signals, making it difficult to isolate the faint response of a small gold ring. To improve my chances, I lowered the detector’s sensitivity and dramatically slowed my sweep speed, carefully listening for any repeatable signal that stood out in the gold range from the surrounding clutter.

About 15 minutes into the search, I heard a promising tone.

I knelt down and gently parted the blades of grass. My pinpointer immediately locked onto a small circular object that had become pressed into the soil. I could tell right away it was a gold ring—but was it Cindy’s?

As I carefully lifted it from the ground, Michelle hurried over and asked excitedly, « Did you find it? »

I smiled, nodded, and replied, « I think this is it! »

Rather than spoil the surprise, Michelle called her mom and casually asked, « Mom, what did your lost ring look like? »

Cindy replied, « It’s just a plain gold band… kind of like the ring from The Lord of the Rings. Why do you ask? »

Trying not to give anything away, Michelle answered, « Oh… I was just thinking about going out and looking for it again. »

After hanging up, Michelle told me her mother’s birthday was just around the corner. She couldn’t imagine a better gift than wrapping up the recovered ring and surprising her with something she believed was gone forever.

There are few things more rewarding than reuniting someone with a treasured possession—but knowing this ring would become an unforgettable birthday surprise for Cindy made this recovery even more special.

Titanium Wedding Band recovery from the Saco in N. Conway NH.

I received a message from Cain’s wife after she found me online. While they were relaxing and enjoying the day on the Saco River in North Conway, New Hampshire, Cain’s wedding band slipped off and disappeared into the river.

The ring was lost somewhere within an area of roughly 300 square feet. After arriving on site and searching with my metal detector, I was able to locate and recover his wedding band in about 30 minutes.

There’s nothing better than returning something so meaningful to its owner. Seeing the relief and smiles on their faces made the trip completely worthwhile.

Wedding day celebration – Huge Diamond in da Scoop

  • from Marco Island (Florida, United States)

Huge diamond ring found Tampa Sarasota bird Kay island

IMG_5272 Wow…wedding celebrations underway the brides entourage took a ferry for a brunch bay cruise.  While en route the boat took a detour to stop at Bird Island Kay for a short shelling shallow water excursion.   Just before getting back on the boat at NOON someone threw a ball, the bride swatted and off flew the HUGE diamond engagement ring.  Dozens of people searching, ensuing calls and no luck.  “It’s only lost until you call”…the call came in, I was en route within minutes despite the drop zone being 200 miles away and requiring boat to/from the site.  The rest is history, as promised the ring was back on her finger by 9pm the very same day.  Experience, equipment, information, persistence and tenacity make all the difference.   Thanks be to God for He’s the best call one can make!

A Busy Day. Episode 3: Ladies Gold Ring Recovered by Metal Detecting, Bowerman’s Beach, Falmouth, Massachusetts

25 July 2026.

About 6:30 PM, as I was sitting contently on my back deck, basking in lazy late afternoon sunshine with a cold drink in hand, the phone rang for the third time today.  Chelsea was calling from Bowerman’s Beach (where I always leave a Ring Finders card) in hopes that I could come and recover her lost gold band.  Having been in the water for much of the day, and it now being high tide, I naturally asked when and how deep in the water the ring was lost.  To my relief Chelsea assured me that the ring was in dry sand, lost where she had been relaxing ashore near the beach house.

The beach is only a few minutes away from my home, so I arrived not long after Chelsea’s call.  The sand had been smoothed out a bit over the general area where she had been sitting, which made it easier to swing my detector.  It took only a couple of swaths and a couple of minutes to recover her ring.  The band was  fine and slender, half of a pair of twins.  It gave a lighter signal than the usual chunkier versions, but the signal was plenty strong enough to leave no doubt that it was a good, ring-like target.  Following some happy conversation and thanks from Chelsea and the beach manager, I headed home, detector secured, for the fourth time since sunrise.

And that, my friends, concluded a very productive and gratifying day!

The completed pair of Chelsea’s gold rings.

Happy with another successful recovery!

A Busy Day. Episode 2: Men’s Wedding Ring Recovered by Metal Detecting, Saconesset Beach, Falmouth, Massachusetts

25 July 2026.

Following the successful search and recovery of Helene’s ring I headed home, had some breakfast, and then opted to pursue an ongoing search for a men’s wedding ring that had been lost at New Silver Beach.  I started that search two weeks ago in a very large, poorly defined area that presumably was between a pair of jetties.  Subsequently I’d managed two more trips, expanding the search area when wind & tides permitted and I was not traveling.  I hoped that today’s effort would bring a successful conclusion.  Unfortunately that was not to be and I reluctantly have to close the book on that venture, at least for the time being.

After exiting the water I found a message from a lady who’d lost her wedding ring back at Old Silver Beach (a busy beach today!).  When I called I learned that she’d been able to contact another Ring Finder who was on his way from the Outer Cape, so hopefully she will have her ring recovered by late afternoon.

In mid-afternoon I received a call from Cody, who’d lost a Tiffany platinum ring in dry sand while racking a kayak at Saconesset Beach.  This promised to be a much simpler task than those involved in the prior experiences of the day, and I arrived a short time later to do a search.  Cody felt that the ring was within a 2’-3’ area; the only problem was that the area had beach-rose bushes and heavy beach grass.  After some probing with a pinpointer I opted to check the surrounding area with my detector, and within a minute I recovered the ring from an adjacent path where it was covered by only a half inch of sand.

The story was that the ring belonged to Cody’s buddy, who had asked Cody to hang onto it for him while he went in the water – a wise move, especially with a ring made from heavy platinum.  Cody stored the ring on his finger, up against his own wedding ring, which gave it uncertain purchase and facilitated its escape as he racked the kayak.  Cody, of course, was crestfallen when the ring slipped away.  Fortunately he learned about the Ring Finders from other folks in the immediate area and gave me a call.  I’ve recovered two rings for others there in the past two years – word gets around!

Yes, a good day, and I returned home for a snack and drink on the deck on a bluebird late afternoon.  But there was still more to come….. (continued in Episode 3).

Cody’s buddy’s PT950 wedding band.

Cody, relieved after a successful ring recovery.
