Leah contacted me last Saturday explaining how she had lost her 2 rings (An engagement ring, and wedding band) 3 weeks ago in a school soccer field, and was wondering if I could help. It wasn’t sounding too hopeful, but I felt she needed closure, so I agreed to meet her for the search. With that much time having gone by, there were so many possibilities for the rings not to be there, but sometimes you never know. She was pretty certain that the field is where the loss occurred after reviewing pictures from the event she was at there.

We met at the school, fortunately now out of session to perform the search. Leah took me to the field, and there weren’t too many areas where the ring could have hidden, but the places she had been had some nice tall grass, and weed patches. I began my search, and then Leah showed me another area she had been that looked more promising, so I changed my search area. Leah and her friend were doing a visual search of their own while I worked. There was a lot of metal in the ground, most of it too deep to find, but causing me to stop and check very often. Finally in one of the larger weed patches, after getting a solid signal, I put in the pin pointer to locate the origin of the signal, and spotted her engagement ring, a large diamond solitaire. I then lifted it and held it out for her to see. She then came running over, looked at the ring, and said « My ring, this my ring » with a tone of disbelief, I am sure thinking it would never be found. I then focused my search on her wedding band, going over all the areas she had been, and expanded out from there, but was unable to find it. It could have fallen in an area that was exposed to others to see, and might have been picked up; 3 weeks is a long time. It was great to have found Leah’s engagement ring. She got it for her 10th wedding anniversary last year, and was heartbroken to have lost it. I was so glad to bring her smile back.

A Seagull’s Misadventure: Recovering a Lost Wedding Ring at Ventura Pier

Early morning brought an urgent text from Jason, seeking aid in the search for his lost wedding ring near the north side of the Ventura Pier. With summer break granting me the freedom to assist, I swiftly arranged to meet him at the swings within half an hour.

Upon arrival, Jason recounted the unfortunate tale of his ring’s disappearance. During a seaside outing with his young son, he had removed his ring to apply sunscreen, placing it on his son’s shirt. In a twist of fate, a squadron of seagulls, hungry for a snack, swooped down and snatched the shirt—with the ring still attached—before soaring off into the sky. Amidst the chaos, panic ensued, and the search was abruptly halted to tend to his unsettled son.

With a determined spirit, we identified a probable search area and delineated a 20’x20′ grid in the sand. Armed with my trusty Equinox metal detector, I commenced the hunt. Within moments, a clear signal reverberated through the air, guiding me to the elusive treasure buried beneath the sand. With a deft scoop, Jason’s rose gold wedding ring emerged, casting a radiant gleam in the morning light.

Lost Gold & Diamonds Keepsake Ring at Ala Moana Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I came home to a voicemail from Elizabeth who resides on Oahu. While spending the day with her family at Ala Moana Beach her Keepsake ring fell off in waist deep water. The water was very murky and after hours searching the family gave up. A quick search on Google and Elizabeth found me and left a voicemail as I was out detecting. I called immediately upon returning home. Elizabeth had already left the beach and had returned home heart broken that the ring was gone. I found out the lifeguard at the shack was also informed. Unfortunately that’s not the best option and should be avoided. It’s not their job to help you in that situation, lets just leave it at that. I told Elizabeth I would grab a bite to eat and head down to Ala Moana soonest. It was getting dark so parking should be a snap. As I arrived parking near the exact spot was available and I called Elizabeth for some fine tuning on the hunt. There was a fisherman in the exact starting point so I explained to him what I was doing and would keep an eye out on his fishing line. As I entered the water in ankle deep water I got a nice low tone but choppy. I scooped once and the target shifted to the left. Second try I looked in the scoop and there was Elizabeth’s keepsake ring glistening in the bottom. Wow I thought what luck. And I was expecting to get wet to my waist at least. I immediately called Elizabeth and told her she was blessed and the ring was found. We made arrangements for her to pick up the ring from my home the next day and as you can see it’s another smile for the book. Aloha to Elizabeth!

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Ko Olina Lagoon…FOUND!!!

This ring find began on 25 May when I agreed to look for Matt’s Platinum wedding band in Lagoon 3 at Ko Olina resort. Matt was visiting from Southern California with the Mrs. and his band came off will swimming in the lagoon. His flight back to Cali was leaving shortly so he sent me a pic of himself standing in the lagoon where the ring went missing. I decided to go after work and although Matt’s flight was delayed several hours we weren’t able to hook up as road repair work kept me away from Ko Olina several hours. The ring was found very close to Matt’s location in the picture and I texted him a pic after the recovery. Since I was going to SOCAL the next Thursday for a Disneyland vacation Matt & I agreed to meet at our hotel which was about 20 minutes from his home. As you can see Matt & the lovely Mrs. met me in the lobby of the hotel and I was able to hand deliver him his ring. A 2500+ mile ring return. Aloha to Matt and the Mrs.

Safety Search for Nails in Torrance, CA Yard

I received an email from Sally requesting my services to make sure there were no more nails in her back yard from a recent re-roofing job. She said that the workers had dragged a magnet through, but she was having a birthday party for her young son on Saturday with water fights and bare feet, and she wanted to be certain the nails were gone. I let her know that is something I could help her with, and we arranged to meet later in the early evening.

When I got to her house she showed me the backyard which wasn’t very large, and I expected a quick search. What I found though was that the magnet had removed all of the roofing nails, but there were a multitude of old rusty nails just on or barely under the surface that could have caused some serious damage to her son or his friends. After about an hour I had removed quite a number of rusty nails and other sharp objects, along with some other metal objects. Sally and her husband were very happy to know that the yard did not have any surface dangers to deal with.

Steve is not just for finding lost engagement rings! My house was recently reroofed and I had the backyard swept over with a magnetic sweeper multiple times in order to catch nails and other roofing debris. Wedding Ring Lost in Gulf of Mexico…State of Louisiana, found by John Volek TRF-Houston

I was contact by Charles a resident of Little Rock Arkansas, who was looking for someone to help him find his lost wedding ring…

Charles reported he and his family were on vacation at Rutherford Beach in Louisiana when he had the mis-fortune of loosing his wedding ring in the Gulf of Mexico.

Charles reported while spending time at the beach with his family, he ventured into the water and when he was about waist deep, he dove in…

Charles said as he dove into the water he felt his ring slide off of his finger…Charles said he knew at that moment his ring might be lost forever…

Charles then stated, this had happened neatly three weeks ago, but he was still holding onto hope…

Charles provided some very specific land marks, which where the deciding factor in pursuing this recovery effort.

Based on the location and distance, I new this would need to be a two-man effort minimal…I reached out to a good friend Carl Sedita and laid out the details.

Lost 2018 Texas A&M Class Ring.. Lost in a Hidden Paradise… Recovered by John Volek TRF-Houston

Lost 2018 Texas A&M Class Ring.. Lost in a Hidden Paradise… Recovered by The Ring Finders Houston, Texas…
I was contacted by Jordan regarding his newly acquired and recently lost 2018 Texas A&M Class Ring.
Jordan had the unfortunate luck to loose his newly acquired class ring on a sand bar along the San Jacinto River…
Jordan reported he and his family spent a number of hours searching for his ring with no luck…he reported a neighborhood friend came out with a metal detector and still no luck…

Plans were made to meet up with Jordan and his family the following day…I arrived the next day, and as planned we made a short boat ride to an area know as Banana Bend, on the San Jacinto River…As we arrived, I was amazed to see this little hidden paradise…really clean white sandy beaches along this stretch of the San Jacinto River…

As we arrived Jordan directed me to the area where he and several friends had been playing volleyball. Jordan was very confident his ring would be located in the area of the volleyball court.

About 45 minutes into the search, I came upon Jordan’s 2018 Texas A&M Class Ring buried in about 4 inches of sand just outside of the volleyball court area…

Diamond Engagement and Gold Wedding Band Set Lost for Six Months in Long Grove, IA…Found

Patricia was doing some late season gardening in October 2017. The temperatures here in the Midwest were average for October, meaning it was cool, but not yet considered cold, and a little breezy.  Patricia had been prepping all of her flower gardens for the winter season by raking and bagging up the flowers and plants that were dying back from the end of the season.  During the process of raking, bagging, and the wind blowing her hair in her face, Patricia removed her gloves frequently to brush her hair out of her face and then continue on with her gardening.

It wasn’t until Patricia was done with her work and she was inside cleaning up that she noticed her wedding band set was no longer on her finger. She believes the temperature was just cool enough that the ring came off of her finger during one of the many times that she removed her gloves.  She did not expect to ever see her rings again.

Fast-forward to April of 2018. Patricia’s rings have been missing for over six months.  She was certain that her rings were not in the lawn bags as she had dumped them out one-by-one in October and thoroughly searched the contents.  This gave me confidence that her rings were still somewhere in her yard.  Beginning at about 10:00AM I searched each of Patricia’s flower beds and then I began a grid search of the back yard.

Just before noon I had covered approximately half of the back yard when I got a good “gold” tone on my metal detector. After pinpointing on the signal I looked beneath the search coil and I could see a little shiny object deep in the grass.  I reached down to pick the object up and it was Patricia’s rings.  When I showed the rings to her she cried, she smiled, and she was speechless.  It was an overflow of emotions in one instance.  Just seeing how happy she was made the hunt for her rings that much more rewarding.

I’m a couple of months late posting this story, but I wanted to share this wonderful event.

Prescription Glasses Lost in the Ocean, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

It had been a great weekend with family in town and sadly as they all left, I wanted to do a little metal detecting. I had just received my new quest scoopal sand scoop in the mail and attached an old wooden handle and was ready to go. There were plenty of people on the beach; the problem was, there weren’t any places to park. After driving to three different spots, I finally found a parking spot and hit the beach. I had my new scoop in one hand and my new Equinox 800, third time out with it, in the other hand.

I hit my first target, stuck my new scoop in the sand, and wouldn’t you know it, my handle broke. I then remembered why the handle wasn’t attached to my T-Rex scoop, I had cracked the base of the handle and changed it out last year. Luckily, I still had my T-Rex in the trunk and headed back to the car. On my way off the beach, Betty approached me wanting to know if I had found a pair of kid’s prescription glasses. I hadn’t, so I got the description of the glasses and found out they had been lost within the last 10 minutes. I told her I needed to change scoops and that I’d be right back and see what I could do. There’s usually very little chance of finding freshly dropped glasses. Glasses are so light; they get pushed and pulled by the surf until the metal frames finally settle in the sand and get buried. Also, as they’re getting pushed and pulled, the lenses get scratched up rubbing against the sand.

 When I got back to the site, I started doing a grid search in the surf, hoping to visually spot the glasses. After a pretty extensive visual search, I told Betty that I’d be there for a while, working the outgoing tide, and if I found the glasses, I’d leave them with the lifeguard. As I’m working the tide line, I walked north of the lost area and spotted the glasses laying on top of the wet sand about 20-30 yards away from the original area. I picked up the glasses, verified they were the right ones, checked for damage, and headed back to find Betty. Betty and I spotted each other about the same time, and I held up the glasses. She and Annie, the mother of the girl that lost the glasses, both came running towards me. Both were very excited and called Kamila to come down from the hotel and get her glasses. While we were waiting, I found out they were on vacation from Illinois and were originally from Poland. I didn’t learn the relationship between Betty, Annie, and Kamila, but it didn’t matter. Once Kamila showed up, she identified the glasses and checked them for damage, everything was okay. Found out from Annie that she had called her husband who was going to overnight a spare set of glasses the next day.

Kamila, so happy I was able to help get your glasses back where they belong.

Sunday morning I received a call from a number in Ireland.?? I answered and it was an Irish gentleman at Del Mar beach on vacation who had just lost his wedding ring in the dry sand below Powerhouse Park. After a few questions I was immediately on my way in the Batmobile and arrived to find his Gold band buried in the sand after nearly just a few minutes of searching with my Metal Detector.

This particular beach and others in San Diego County get cleaned morning and night by local Detector hobbyist in which many are new to the game due to social media…It was a darn good thing he found me on Theringfinders website!   ☘️ Cheers me lad🥂
