Got a call from a gentleman who lost his wedding band while gardening. I love it when they do that!! Used the CTX 3030 with big coil. Gridded the lawn. Nothing. Checked compost, Nothing. Swept coil in area around compost and spotted the ring on the surface. BINGO. Notice the dirt still on the ring after he put it on. Glad to be reunited!
While assembling a kite with his children, he lost his Platinum wedding band. He knew the area and had searched with a metal detector, and even went at night with a flashlight to search. I used my Minelab 3030 with a large coil. Found ring which had been stepped on and driven into ground in less than 20 minutes.
Received call to go to a volleyball court to locate a mens wedding band. Married for only 3 weeks. While playing his ring came off. Used my XP Deus and located ring in about 1 minute.
This ring was recovered in Mayo Lake in Roxboro, N.C. on 6-10-17.
I will keep this story short but a couple weeks ago I received a call from a gentleman about a ring his wife lost in the lake. He explained that she lost it in the water about six weeks ago and he would like to try to recover the ring. After speaking with him about the details I agreed to meet him there on Saturday 6-3-17 to try to find it. When I got there I spoke with him more and we went down to the water with all my dive gear. I suited up and tried to find it but had to kill the dive after about a hour in the water because of poor diving conditions and poor visibilty I could not even see to read my gauges on my console. thats how bad the water was mucked up. I came back on 6-10-17 to try again as I don’t like to give up on a ring search if I can help it. This time when I came I came to try a better way since I knew how bad the conditions were from my previous Dive search. This time I brought a extra tank of air so I could search longer and I brought some blocks and rope so I could run some guide lines through the area of interest to make my searching easier by following the guide lines in a grid search patturn. I set up my lines and started my search. About 25-30 minutes in to my search in about 20 feet of water I found a ring but it was only part of the ring I was looking for. The ring I was trying to find was a ring that sat in middle of two bands the was put together in the shape of a U. The piece I found was the center part but I still needed to find the other piece. After taking a a break I began my seach again and following my lines more I was able to find the rest of the ring also in about another 45 minutes also in 20 feet of water. I was very happy to help them out and glad they were able to get it back as this was not a easy search. Even a pro diver would of had trouble finding this one. Enclosed is a photo of the ring.
This past Sunday I found myself back on the base at Fort Meade to look for a lost wedding ring. I’m starting to think that the late Civil War General George Meade might have a fondness for rings as this makes my 3rd time on the base to help someone out! Here is Nichole and her story…….
My husband lost his wedding band during PT when they were playing football. We tried searching for the ring on the field, but couldn’t find it. We were convinced it would be lost for good until we came upon Ring Finders. We decided to hire Jim because he has rescued other lost rings from Fort Meade and his ratings are phenomenal. We emailed him the day after the ring was lost, and he met us the next day to help us find it. Jim found the ring within a few hours and we are extremely thankful! Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to try and find a wedding/engagement ring lost on Thanksgiving weekend on the beach at Oxnard shores, just south of the Channel Islands Harbor. This is a beautiful location known for it’s quiet streets, multi-million dollar homes and simply just an awesome stretch of beach. Cathie, my client relayed to me how she had lost the ring, she was relaxing on her beach towel, took her ring off for a minute and forgot it was on the towel. She got up to leave, shook out her towel and launched the ring. This began her series of unfortunate events. She realized when she got home the ring was gone so she and a friend went back using a colander to try and find it. That didn’t work so she got a friends metal detector and she and her friend tried to use it to no avail. Since this was now the end of fall the county begins the process of beach replenishment and right in her rings flight path was a giant 5 foot tube used to transport sand from the dredge. All of this and the most rain and storms we’ve had in 6 years of drought had made the ring virtually disappear.
6 months later Cathie posted an ad on craigslist and we met up to try and find the ring. I spent 4 hours gridding with my CTX 3030 an ever larger area around the lifeguard tower but couldn’t find the ring. Since I hate to quit anything I promised I’d come back with my Pulse Induction machine as it reaches deeper and retry the area. Again I came back and re-gridded the same area with my pulse and found some items buried 24+ inches but none were her wedding ring. As with any hunt it’s never over until it’s over and I promised Cathie as I’m in the area I’d watch for erosion and if I see a change in the sand structure I’ll hit it again.
Every new attempt at recovery is a learning experience for my clients. Cathie realized that had she thought of calling myself or any other ringfinder her chances at a positive outcome would have greatly increased. Learning to use a metal detector is the same as learning a new language. She found out that learning what her friends metal detector was saying was a lot like trying to interpret what R2D2 is trying to say if you’re not a Jedi.
If you have lost an important piece of jewelry or a sentimental ring don’t hesitate to call a ringfinder right away. We are experts at using metal detecting equipment and if you put is in the right place you’ll likely get your ring back.
Sentimental Metal….
This nice but upset gentleman called me saying a gold ring was lost out in their front yard while doing some landscaping.
He had rented a detector but the electrical interference was overtaking the unit.
The ring was handed down from grandmother and held significant sentimental value.
I had a wide open search area with no obstacles and while gridding the yard this nice 10k gold band signaled in at +40 on the MXT just under the grass very close to the sidewalk.
