I got a call from a client Ron who was very upset about visiting a neighbors house and having his fiancé loose a Platinum Diamond engagement ring . He asked me if I could come over to Coral Springs to find his Platinum ring. He stated that he had been searching for it since Christmas Day with metal detectors . I came over about 0900 the next day. He kept asking me whether it flew off his fiancés finger into a nearby lake.. I really thought 20 feet was too far away . I began searching and after a few targets like the sprinkler system. I finally got the  prize target. He was soooo Happy .. and I felt very good also. What a good Christmas present although a little bit late.

I received an email on Christmas afternoon (Friday, December 25, 2020) from Taylor.  He explained that his wife, Mary, noticed that one of her stud earrings was missing on Christmas Eve.  This was a very sentimental set of family heirloom earrings—Mary’s grandfather bought them for her grandmother, they were passed on to her mother, and now on to Mary.  Around 50 years in the family!

Mary had received a pair of AirPods on Christmas Eve, so she was using those and playing with their daughter.  During this, the earring backing must’ve gotten caught on something and came off.  Mary was very upset that the earring was missing and later told me that she had trouble enjoying Christmas knowing that the earring was lost.

They ended up finding the earring backing in their daughter’s room.  They tore apart the house looking for the stud earring and jacket that the earring was setting in.  Coming up empty handed, Mary remembered that she had been picking up a few sticks in the front yard and had taken them to the curb.  It was now dark outside on Christmas Eve, so Mary grabbed a flashlight and retraced her steps out in the yard.  Walking the same path, she found the earring jacket about 20 feet from the curb!  They thought that the stud earring should be close by, because naturally the stud would fall off with the jacket.  They decided to search more the next day on Christmas when it was light outside.  Taylor borrowed a metal detector and was gently using a leaf blower in hopes of finding the earring.  Taylor was having some trouble figuring out how to set-up the detector, so he Googled the proper settings.  In doing so, The Ring Finders website popped up!  As we’ve heard many times before, they had no idea that a metal detecting service even existed, but thought that it was there best bet to find the earring.

My husband, Lindell, and I went out the next day, Saturday afternoon (December 26, 2020) in search of the earring.  Lindell was using a 5×8” coil on the Garrett AT Pro and I was using an 11” coil on the Minelab Equinox 800.  We also had our Garret Pin Pointers set to maximum sensitivity.  We put Mary’s second earring in a Ziploc bag and checked the signals on our detectors.  Depending on the orientation of the earring, the signals were choppy, but we were able to get a reading on both detectors.  We set-up a grid and got to work.  Lindell started by the curb and I started by the most likely spot by where the earring jacket was found.

We went slow and methodical, checking every signal, so that we did not miss the earring.  Stud earrings are one of the hardest items to find due to the small amount of metal.  After about 30 minutes and checking many surface signals, I check another with my pin pointer that had registered around a choppy 4-6 on the Equinox.  Brushing a few leaves away, I catch a glimpse of Mary’s diamond earring staring back at me!!!  What a beautiful sight!  The earring had landed with the post in the ground, but didn’t appear to be stepped on.  It was about 8-10 feet from where the jacket was found.

I went and got Taylor, Mary, and Mary’s father, Kermit, from the house.  I gave them a big smile and told them that we got it!  Such joy and relief!  They were so happy and thankful that the earring was found!  It’s really such a blessing being able to help find these lost items for people!  We chit chatted for a few minutes sharing stories about past recoveries and where lost items actually turn up.  It was a great day and now this earring will remain in the family and continue its story!  Mary plans to buy a more secure backing to prevent any future mishaps.  I’ve included a photo of what the earring looks like with the jacket.

Lost Vehicle Key FOB and Keys Found In The Snow In Ypsilanti Michigan

Jingle All The Way…..

…….Got a call from Rhalon saying she lost her keys in the snow while cleaning some debris along her fence yesterday after enjoying the Christmas holiday. When I arrived I noticed that the 70 foot long fenceline had leaf cover, bushes, pickers and thorns making it impossible to swing a metal detector. Learning the keys had pink and red covers along with a coiled red wrist lanyard and green tag on the ring I started to do a line of sight search carefully walking on both sides of the fence to see if I could see any of the colors. No luck, so I started to probe with my pin-pointer where I could find space. As Rhalon was looking in other areas of the yard I slowly and methodically swept the pin-pointer in between the needle sharp thorns and fenceline, each time the probe signaled, I’d scrape the icy ground where I could see if it was the keys or the fence I was detecting. Nearing the end of the row, the pin-pointer signaled. I scraped thru the snow and heard a metal clink as I pulled the object closer, I saw a green tag and the red, pink key covers! Full of pickers, I stood up and jiggled the keys. As Rhalon whirled around I exclaimed Jingle Jingle! Getting back on solid ground she said….. now that’s the jingles I love to hear and was very happy that the keys were found as there was no spares. I said the key to unlocking the mystery of her lost keys was Lock-ation! Lock-ation! Lock-ation!

Lost Texas A&M Class Ring in Danbury, Texas found by Houston Metal Detecting Services (The Ring Finders-Houston, Texas)
I was contacted by Jordon a recent Texas A&M graduate, who was looking for someone to help him find his 2021 Texas A&M Class ring.

Jordon reported he had been in Danbury Texas at a duck hunting lease on Christmas Day when he lost his new Texas A&M class ring. Jordon report while he was out in the water near the duck blind tossing out duck decoys when he felt his ring come off his finger and fly into the shallow rice field water.

Jordon reported he looked for his ring for a short period of time but realized the task was impossible. Jordon said, he grabbed his cell phone and started a search for some help. Jordon said he came across The Ring Finders and placed the call.

I meet with Jordon at the duck lease the following day and we set out to find his missing 2021 Texas A&M Class ring.

Lost Car Key Fob in Ivy at a Pasadena, CA. Yard .. Recovered with Small Held Metal Detector

…. Bob called me about helping him find a Car Key Fob lost in ivy or tall grass at his home in Pasadena, CA.  We set up a a time to meet the next day. Later,  I received a text message saying he could have the gardeners cut back to make it easier for me to use my metal detector. Not having seen the vegetation, I thought I should do a preliminary search before he went to the trouble of setting up his gardeners to do extra work.

We met at his home the next morning where he showed me a 50’x 50’ zone where the key fob could be. The ivy was a small leaf type less the 4” high. The grass was ornamental clumps that would not be a problem using a handheld pinpointer. 

First using a 11” coil on my normal detector, I had only located a older galvanized sprinkler pipe running through the ivy plants. Then I went through the ivy with a Garrett pinpointer. Boom I got a signal 6” away from the galvanized metal pipe.

When I spreaded the plant leaves away the fob was hiding there. It was completely camouflaged and I only spotted a glint if gold that was an emblem on the face of the fob. 

The search was less than a half hour. It should have been easier, but the water pipe was definitely masking the signal. That’s what happens when two large metal objects are under an 11” coil. The pinpointer has about a 3” range. The right tool for the right type search.

Bob and Carolyn had watched the whole search and couldn’t believe how they missed finding this fairly large object. Also this was a custom type key fob belonging to an exotic classic car. It would have at least been troublesome to replace.

Metal Detecting Service – For most, snow in the forecast means shoveling and scraping ice off your car. For those with kids, snow also means sleigh riding, building snowmen, and snowball fights. Steve was out in his front yard, sledding down the hill with his daughter, when he heard the horrifying sound of his ring clinking off the side of the sleigh. This was no standard ring found in any jewelry store. This was a custom ring representing much more than the tie between two people.

The two hands clasping the crowned heart represents love and loyalty amongst spouses and friends. The Claddagh ring has been around for centuries, originating in Ireland and becoming a distinctive part of Celtic heritage and tradition. Steve designed his ring around the Claddagh symbol to represent their Irish heritage. There are different ways a person can wear this type of ring. Steve wears his ring with the heart facing inward to express love and the bond with his wife.

For any hope of finding his custom ring, Steve knew that the sledding fun had to end for his search to begin. It was getting dark, so he grabbed a flashlight, shovel, and a bit of hope to begin his search. He spent a couple of hours digging through the snow on his hands and knees, but the ring was nowhere to be found.

The area was marked with a shovel and bare grass. I knew this was the most likely place to search. Within minutes of turning on my metal detector, I found the ring on the outer edge where Steve was digging. Steve was so close to discovering this ring himself! He must have bumped the ring with a shovel while he was searching because I found it only a couple of inches under the snow on the edge of the cleared area.

I call this a Pre-Christmas Miracle … It’s really difficult to search for a ring in a house. First of all, normal metal detectors do not work inside of houses because there is electrical interference and many nails, screws, etc. In the construction materials. There are also many hiding places for items as small as a ring. Over the years of doing ring searches, occasionally I will do house searches.  Even if I don’t find the item, I have been told by people that I helped them locate the lost article.

Sara called me three days after she lost her diamond engagement ring in her small home. She was devastated as she only had it for three weeks. I normally suggest places for the person to search and to give it few days before making plans for me to do a search.

We discussed what she remembered and it seemed like I could at least check the most difficult nooks and crannies. I do use an endoscope camera along with mirrors and high intensity lights. Of course there seems to be a few places that I can use the handheld metal detector ( pinpointer ). I set up to meet Sara the next day. Later after to call, I texted Sara, asking her not to throw the trash away even though she had told me she searched it.

Long story, short! After two hours in the three rooms she had been the morning of the loss. I gave Sara my my ”I can’t find it” pitch,  giving her hope that she still had many places it could hide and from my experience with these searches, it will show up.

Then I remembered that I had not checked the trash bags that she had set outside the on the steps. We dawned our rubber gloves. We proceeded to go through each hand full of trash using my pinpointer detector. Just before getting to the bottom of the first bag of trash there was a glimmer of yellow gold on the very bottom. It was Sara’s beautiful gold diamond engagement ring. Sara had missed it when she searched the trash, day one. I came very close to forgetting to search this trash bag.

”I Believe In Miracles ”.. I hope I never take these miracles for granted. 

It’s beyond words to express what I saw watching Sara at the moment we spotted the ring in the bottom of the trash. After the first few minutes passed, she got on her phone calling her loved ones with the good news.

Lost Gold Engagement Ring, Found in Snow in Bluemont, Virginia

I received a call from Katlyn on Monday evening stating she had lost her engagement ring while out building snowmen and sledding in her back yard. Her husband, Tony, was going to use a borrowed detector and some help from a friend to see if they could recover the ring that night and if  he didn’t have any luck would ask me come out the next day. Unfortunately, they did not have any luck finding Katlyn’s ring so we arranged for me to come out the next day.

Upon arriving at Katlyn and Tony’s home I noticed the large area to the left of the property where I presumed the ring had been lost, it was quite large, but I wasn’t daunted by the challenge for this recovery. Tony gave me a quick rundown of the activities and shortly I went to work. I setup a flag grid pattern across an approximate 50 yard by 50 yard area then started to conduct a slow search within each grind pattern. I extended my searches slightly on each grid section just to get some additional ground covered, but after almost two hours no luck in finding the ring; lots of junk metal and shell casings. So at this point I initiated a search beyond the first major grid section to see if the ring had possibly been thrown in another area. After about another 15 minutes I picked up a strong hit at the top of the grid and after moving a little snow there shining just under the surface in the snow was Katlyn’s beautiful engagement ring.

As I turned towards the house Katlyn was at the back door watching and I held the ring up high as my sign it was found. She immediately opened the door and with excitement in her voice yelled across the field, « You found it!?? » Katlyn was just overwhelmed with emotion that she was reunited with her recently received engagement ring (Tony gave it to her in July of this year) and with tears of joy and a beautiful smile she gave me the biggest hug of gratitude.

It’s always these special moments that make our work so worthwhile!  Tony and Katlyn are a wonderful young couple and I’m just honored they called me and I was able to ensure their Holiday season was one to remember.

… Most people that play volleyball often do not wear jewelry. What usually happens is they lose their ring the one time they forget to take off before playing. Sometimes they feel it come off but that doesn’t mean they can find it in the sand without experienced help.

Ava was playing volleyball on the sand with her friends at Newport Beach, CA. She felt her ring fly off her finger into the sand. She and her friends spent a couple hours crawling through the sand searching for her sentimental gold ring.

Somebody on the beach recommended that they search google for a metal detector specialist. 

They contacted me and I was able to meet them at the location shortly after talking to them. Parking was not a problem so I walked a short distance to meet Ava. I wish all searches were this easy. After setting up my detector, I was recovered the ring on the second grid line about 4” deep in the dry sand. Quick and easy but it’s surprising how many people give up on finding small metallic items lost in the sand.

Ava and her friends were surprised that it was found exactly where they had spent so much time digging through the sands.

Gold Wedding Band Lost While Sledding in Bethlehem, Pa. FOUND

I was contacted by Joe the day after our first snow storm in Pennsylvania. He told me realized his ring had come off while sledding with his wife and daughter in a public park. We made arrangements to meet on Saturday morning and he showed me the areas they walked and played in the snow. After only about five minutes of searching with my Garrett ATPro, I found the ring. Joe was delighted I found his ring and excited to tell his wife. We continued to talk about TheRingFinders longer then it took me to find his ring. It was also a blessing we found it so fast as it was only 15 degrees outside.

I encourage anyone who looses a piece of jewelry to contact me immediately and not spend the money renting or buying a cheap metal detector.
