Lost Wedding Band Found…Marion, Iowa

I received a call from a young man named Eric on Wednesday. He said he lost his

wedding band the holiday weekend before. He said he was in the water at a lake and throwing a football when he felt his ring come off.

Some of the problems were he was in 5 feet of water and he was in another state 190 miles away. So on this Saturday I made the 3 hour drive with a map showing the general location of his ring.

I searched for around two hours going from the deep water to shallow. I finally got a perfect solid gold hit on the CTX3030, it showed 12-14 at zero inches  in waist deep water.

It was his ring! So glad I could find his ring for this young couple.

Lost Gold Cross… Found in Davenport, Iowa

Hi everyone,

I received a call yesterday from Tom about a lost gold cross his son had. Tom had bought two of these crosses in Greece one for each of his sons. His son Tony, who is a college student, was at a friends house over the fourth of July. They were playing on one of those yellow slippery slide things in the friends backyard plus throwing a Frisbee.

Tony felt his chain slip down his neck and was able to catch it but there was no gold cross on the broken chain. He said they searched the area but was unable to find the cross. They tried again last night with a flashlight hoping they would pick up a glimmer from the gold. With no luck.

Most people in my area are do-it-yourselfers, so Tom rented a detector and tried to find it. He was unsuccessful. He then gave me the go ahead to come search for the lost gold cross.

I arrived at 10:30 this morning and Tony showed me two different areas where he thought he lost his cross. It wasn’t in the first area.

It took about an hour and I finally got the signal I was hoping to hear! I could see a chunk of gold peaking through the grass. I like a happy ending and so did this family.

Lost Ring Found… Quad Cities (Bettendorf) Iowa

I got a call from Trish on Monday March 18th. She had been doing some yard work over the weekend in her backyard when she went back in the house her ring was gone.

This is a very special ring to her because it was her late Mothers ring and one of the few possessions she had from her Mom. Needless to say she was upset. I really needed to find this ring for her.

We arranged to meet today Wednesday March 20th, the first day of Spring. She lives about an hour and a half away from me so I took a day of vacation from work. She is leaving on a trip this weekend so it had to be now.

I arrived at 10 this morning, she showed me where she was working when she lost it. I gathered my gear and went to work.  After a few adjustments to the machine I got a very good hit that showed 12-24 on the CTX. I thought I saw a glimmer of something under the leaves and pine needles. I reached down and pulled up this gorgeous ring! What a ring it is! How did it hide? You could trip over it.DSCF1449

Class Ring Returned Vinton Iowa

This is kind of a long story, but it has a happy ending!

I found this girls class ring back in September when I was water detecting at a small beach. There was a name engraved on the inside of the band but I couldn’t read it even with a 16x loupe.

So I put an add on craigslist on the lost and found section but I didn’t have any replies. So I kept wondering what to do with it. There was no school name on it. Just the name Emily and the year 2010.

This was the first class ring I’ve ever found but I wanted to return it. So I was having some jewelry work done on an old ring and decided to take the class ring along and have them look at it. Well they gave me enough information on the name on the inside of the band that I was able to google the name and come up with a girl who was the right age and lived close enough to the beach I was detecting. It must be her!

I was able to get her parents address. Today I was going to be in the area so I stopped at their house. Luckily Emily was there. She was very happy to see her long lost ring. Her mother and her couldn’t believe I found it. She had lost it last year while swimming at the beach. So it had been in the water awhile.

I believe she was thrilled to have her ring back and it made me happy to finally get it to the rightful owner.

Lost Wedding Ring Found…Iowa City, Iowa

On Thursday I got a call from a guy who lost his gold wedding band . He thought he lost it either while washing the dog in the front of his house or when he was playing baseball with his son in the backyard.

This was over a year ago, he thought May of last year. So I got my things together after work on Thursday and searched for it. I gridded out an area in his front yard where he washed the dog. Two hours later no ring.

So I went back today and gridded part of his backyard where he was playing ball with his son. An hour and a half and still no ring. I was beginning to wonder if it was in his yard. I stayed with my grid some more and got a decent 12-21 signal on the CTX. I knew it could be it but I was getting many pieces of aluminum siding and gutter that were hitting in this range also.

But it was the ring! Yahoo! Isn’t it a great feeling when you pull something like that out of the ground. His young son was out watching me work, so I washed it off and gave it to him and told him to take it to his Dad.

They all were very happy and couldn’t believe I found it. Never give up on your grid search. HH

Lost Ring Found… Bettendorf(Quad Cities) Iowa

I got an email from a lady saying she had lost her wedding ring. She was pulling weeds and debris from a flower bed in her yard and noticed her ring was missing. This happened over a year ago. Her husband and her rented a detector but couldn’t find it.

They are getting ready to move so they thought they would give it one more shot and found my name on theringfinders site. When I arrived this morning Sept. 18th

it was raining but not hard enough that I couldn’t detect. They showed me the area she thought it was lost in and assured me that it wasn’t thrown away with the weeds. Well I searched for awhile finding mostly junk targets. On my thirteenth target I pulled up the ring and what a ring it is!

She was so excited when I called her over. She couldn’t stop hugging me. I was so happy to help these people. It was definetly the best ring I’ve ever found. I can’t wait for my next call out. Happy hunting everyone.

Lost Ring Found… In Iowa City, Iowa

This young man lost his deceased father’s ring on July 3rd at a park in Iowa City. It was hot and humid that day and his hands were sweating. He was on a hiking trail and tossed something in the weeds beside the trail and you guessed it his ring went too. It was just dark enough that he couldn’t find it.

He went back last Sunday to search for it but the weeds were about chest high and very thick. That’s when he realized he needed help.

So I met him at the park today July 10th and he took me to the location where he lost it. Luckily he left the item he threw into the weeds where it landed so it marked the spot.

I did about eight passes through the weeds with nothing to show for it but a buried can lid. So we did a reinactment with a junk ring I brought and I searched the area where it landed without any success.

I then made a pass further over from where my junk ring landed and went beyond the real high weeds and got a sweet 12-47 reading on the E-Trac.

I used my X-1 probe to locate the target under the weeds and up came his father’s ring. The look on his face was priceless. I was so glad I could help this young man out.

Lost Ring… Found In Iowa City, Iowa

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been watching Chris Turner videos for awhile now and they always made me feel good. So I decided to take the plunge and join his Ring Finder site. I was a bit skeptical going in because I thought who would ever see this site and then give me a call. Well I joined on Jan. 28, 2011 and got my first call five short days later on Feb. 2nd. Needless to say I was very surprised.

I live in the eastern part of Iowa and we had a blizzard on Feb. 1st which dumped 12 to 14 inches of new snow. On Feb. 2nd I received a call from a young fella who lost his palladium wedding band during the storm. He said he had a good idea where it fell off at. So we agreed to meet the next day after I got off work.

I arrived the next day at 4:15 p.m. and met with his wife who showed me the area where his ring fell off his finger. Talking to her I found out they had only been married 7 months so this was a very sentimental ring to them. The snow was super deep and I wasn’t getting any signals. I had the discrimination on my detector wide open except for iron. I wasn’t sure where palladium would hit on the E-Trac but I was hoping it would be on the 12 line. I finally went over a target but it didn’t sound very good or look good. I dug down to the ground and it was deeper still so I knew that couldn’t be it. The next signal I got was just a whisper but it made me stop and investigate. I dug a couple of scoops with my shovel and it started to sound a little better, a few more scoops and wow there’s something here. I then had the target on top of the snow. I took my glove off and reached down into the snow and I could feel a ring! When I pulled it out and handed it to his wife her eyes got really big, I think she was stunned for a few seconds.

Her husband arrived a short time later and was very happy. He slipped the ring back on his finger as soon as he could. He told me that they had rented a detector and tried to find it themselves but the rental didn’t work very well. He said he wished he would have found the Ring Finders site before he wasted money on the bogus rental.

I must say that they were a very nice young couple and I was so happy I could help them. I know they truly appreciated it. I’ve found rings for people before but this was also special for me. My first success as a Ring Finder! Now I know why Chris loves his job.
