Metal Detecting for a lost gold wedding band on a soccer field in Vancouver, BC

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Last night I received a call around 9:30 pm from a young  lady who’s husband (Jose) had lost his gold wedding band at a Vancouver Park while playing soccer.Jose and 10 others searched for the ring of well over an hour in the dark with a flashlight but to no avail.  His wife googled and found The Ring Finders online and we discussed the search and I met her husband at 7:30 am the next morning for him to show me the area.Fortunately he had a very good idea that the ring had come off in the goal area… if he was right that would cut my search time considerably and that being said it only took me 10 minutes!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Only married 3 years this young man’s ring will now continue to tell a story of love.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe smile tells the story! I truly love my job! Metal Detecting For a Lost Diamond Ring at a Vancouver Beach

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Its been a very hard week due to the loss of my wife’s father, we’ll miss him very much!I was away for the past week dealing with the preparations of the service and I had 3 calls and 2 that I passed on to others Ring Finders, after I arrived home late last night I was able to do a search for a diamond wedding ring that was lost on Spanish Banks Beach here in Vancouver.

I was extremely exhausted but looking very forward to getting away to the beach and and helping someone find their lost smile as this is more like relaxation for me.I met with Mary at 11pm and she showed me where her wife lost her ring and it took me a little over an hour to find it.

It would have been a quicker search but due to the fact that it was late and dark it took a while for Mary to put me in the correct area but when she did it only took minutes and we found the ring and I got to see her big smile!

Thank you very much for the generous reward Mary it helps me with my gas money and equipment and 15 % of the reward money goes to charity… Children’s Hospital

Lost Wedding Ring on Her Wedding Day in Stanley Park, Vancouver.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

The call came in Saturday afternoon and the young man said that his wife had lost her wedding ring at Stanley Park while taking wedding photos. He asked if I could come out and take a look and I said that I could be there in two hours as I was visiting my dad who lives a good hour plus from Vancouver.

I grabbed my detector and headed for the park and when I got there I received a call from the young man who I thought was going to meet me there to show me the area but as we talked I realized he was the groom and it was his bride that lost the ring.

They were at the reception celebrating and he told me over the phone where he knew the ring was lost and I thought I was in the right area but not 100% sure. After 3 1/2 hours I packed it up until the next morning when I received a call from her bridesmaid.

We met up and she was able to show me the area that they were taking pictures and she told me the story about the ring that was lost…It was the brides great-grandmothers ring that was handed down to the brides grandmother then past on to the brides mother and her mother gave it to her on her wedding day.

This would make the ring extremely sentimental and to lose it on that special day just broke her heart.  After getting good directions of where they were and what they were doing I was able to utilize my process of elimination and shortly after three hours I found her great-grandmothers wedding ring.

Lost Diamond Ring in Maple Ridge…Found in Back Yard!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I received a call this morning from a young man who said his wife lost her diamond engagement ring in the backyard while playing baseball with their daughter.  He said his wife was very  upset and concerned that the ring was lost for good. After discussing the search and what it entailed I decided to go after work to search for her ring.I met with his wife and she showed me the area where she thought the ring many have been lost. It was a very large back yard and the grass was long enough to hide a ring with no problem, after talking to the young lady I had a pretty good idea where I was going to start my search. She told me that she searched with her husband for over an hour and a half with a rake and just eyeballing the area to see if they could get lucky and find the ring…but no luck… She also told me that she hardly slept the night before knowing that her ring was lost and she may never find it.Its amazing how emotional it is for the person who has lost that sentimental item and the thought that it may never be found.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWell it only took 15 minutes in the pouring rain and dark to find her lost diamond ring… it’s the greatest feeling when your detector sounds off and you look down and part the grass and see that persons cherished item looking back up at you …knowing with excitement that it will make that person’s day when you hold it up and show them!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA This is the 700th recorded ring found for The Ring Finders Directory! Backyard Gold… Lost Engagement Ring in Coquitlam BC

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Today I received a call from a young lady who lost her engagement ring in her backyard two weeks ago. After reading her email then talking to her on the phone I realized I knew this person! She works in the film industry and we haven’t talk for very long time so it was nice to connect and help her find her lost wedding ring.

When I arrived I was promptly greeted and shown the area where she believed the ring was lost.  I asked if she could tell me what the ring meant to her and what the story was that made the ring so special.

She told me that her fiancé proposed to her in Mexico and gave her this temporary ring until they got home where she could have one designed.

Even though she had a beautiful ring designed, one that she wears now, I could tell that the ring she had lost meant a lot to her as it was the ring he proposed to her with.

I set up my equipment and started to go to work, unfortunately her property has powerlines very close to the search area. Thankfully with the new modern technology I was able to cancel out most of the interference from above and zero in on her lost ring.

This search took me 15 minutes, I was very happy to get the signal and find her lost engagement ring.

I absolutely love my job!  Thank you for the very kind reward I really appreciate it!

Found…100 Year Old Prescription Glasses

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)
100 Years Old

100 Years Old

Most of the time I’d get called out to search for a lost ring, but on this day ,on my own time, I went to English Bay Beach just after the Polar Bear Swim to search the low tide…January 1, 2013.

On this nice but cold evening when the tide went out it exposed many pairs of prescription glasses, in total 15 pairs were found that evening. One in particular was a pair of spectacles that I found buried completely in the sand. Because of the amount of  prescription glasses that were being found I took my time digging this signal, as I reached into the hole I pulled out  a cool looking pair of spectacles. I have to say my first thought was  »Harry Potter »… I carefully wrapped it up in a cloth and put it in a safe pocket and resume my hunting.

When I got home that evening I posted on craigslist that I found prescription glasses along with a few other things I found at the Polar Bear Swim at English Bay Beach. I only received one reply from someone asking about a pair of Ray-Ban glasses (Aviators) but I did not find those, it took almost 3 weeks before I got a reply from a young man asking if I found a pair spectacles.

I took a picture with my iPhone and sent him the photo of the glasses and I received an email immediately… Those are the ones!!!

I have to admit it’s the first time I experienced how much it meant to to that person to have their prescription glasses found. I didn’t realize what the story was that came with the glasses until I talk with him. You see these were not ordinary prescription glasses, these glasses were from his great grandfather, over 100 years old! How can you ever replace a family heirloom like that? That’s why I love what I do! I love helping people and given them a second chance to find what they thought was lost forever!

Here’s what he put on The Ring Finders Face Book page…

« Thanks to Chris Turner and The Ring Finders recovered my Norwegian great grandfathers old pair of glasses that I lost during this years Polar Bear Swim in Vancouver, BC. Chris found them the same day and posted them under the lost and found section on Craigslist. And although it took me 20 days to even think that someone would be kind enough to put it on Craigslist, Chris convinced me that there still is some good in this world. These 100 year old glasses gets to continue their story and continue being a family heirloom.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! »

Metal Detecting for a Lost Gold Wedding Band in Granville Island, Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I got a call 1 month ago in regards to a lost ring but I couldn’t help the young lady due to my wife and I just arrived in Florida for the month. I sent her the contact number of a member not far from me and he took a look for it but didn’t find the ring.

It’s a game of inches and the ring can easily be missed if you don’t think outside the box…You have to ask a lot of questions and then the detective work starts…You rarely find the lost item where the person thinks it will be…Because I passed the call over to another member I just did a follow up and offered my service to make sure the ring wasn’t missed and the young lady agreed to let me come out and do a search. I have close to 40 years of experience and thought it couldn’t hurt to take a look…She told me that she was having a jeweller make another one for her but she sure would love to have the original back as it was the one that had the sentimental value attached to it…

After showing me the area that the ring was lost in Jody went home to put her son down for a nap. It was only a minute after she left for home that I had found her ring…Talk about luck! Some searches you seem to walk right to the lost item…

The Smile is why I love my job! Thanks for reading my blog and Happy Holidays!

Metal Detecting Grouse Mountain Ski Resort for a lost Gold Wedding Band…Found

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

Friday afternoon I got a call from a young man who was visiting from Columbia, he told me he lost his gold wedding band while he and his wife were up at Grouse Mountain Ski Resort checking out the snow that has arrived early this year.

I was at work when he called and I know he was hoping I could come out that afternoon to help find his wedding band but I couldn’t get to him till the next day. We set a time to meet (8:45am) for Saturday and off we went to the top of the mountain.

When we got up there he showed me the area were the ring was lost in the snow,  it wasn’t that deep. However there was lots of nails all around and that makes it a bit of a tough search! I just eliminated the possibilities and in less then 30 minutes in about 5 inches of snow I found his gold wedding band.

I love my job! As soon as I showed him the ring I could tell that they both were so happy! When I handed it to him he kissed his wife!

It was nice meeting you both today! Thank you for the kind reward! And I hope you enjoy Vancouver.
