It was already dark when I received Jason’s call. He was at the beach with friends having fun when he noticed his ring missing from his finger. He wanted to know if I could help, and I let him know I would leave immediately to help find his ring. He said he and his friends would meet me there.

I got there in the dark, and began walking down the beach to where they said they had been. When I got there no one was there, so I called him to find out if he was around, and he let me know they were on the way. When they arrived he showed me how he had jumped from the lifeguard tower, and when he landed his ring was gone. I began my search where he had showed me, but found nothing. So I began to work out of the area. Then after about 5 more minutes I had his ring, and handed it back to him. It was a ring that was placed on his finger when he was a baby, that’s why it was split. Jason was very happy to have back.

Olivia called letting me know she had lost a bracelet in the sand at a private beach club while at a party the night before. There had been a lot of activity at the party, so she was unaware the bracelet was gone until later that night. We arranged a time to do the search, and she obtained permission for me to come and help her.

She took me to the area of the loss when I arrived, and showed me where she believed the bracelet might be. It was a good sized area that would have to be meticulously gone over with my detector. I worked a tight grid making sure I covered every inch of sand, but not find the bracelet. I then began to expand the search area when I got a good signal, dug, and had her bracelet. She was happy to have it back, and it made for a very productive day.

When Lucy called saying she had lost her earring on a State campus, I made sure she understood that she would have to get permission for me to come and do a search there. She told me that she had already taken care of that issue, so I left right away.

Lucy took me to the area of the loss which happened to be between two dorms, and behind one of them. I began my search in a fine grid pattern, pass by pass. Fortunately there was not a lot of metal in the grass, so the search wasn’t slowed down by constant stopping to check. I did the whole area between the buildings with no earring, then began on the area behind the dorm. As I was going along the edge of the sidewalk I got the silver tone I was looking for, pulled the pin pointer out, and found the earring. Lucy was surprised it ended up there, but was happy to have it back because the pair were a gift to her.

I received a call letting me know that Paul had lost his phone at the beach, and asked if I could help. They had remained in the area, so the chance of a recovery was high. I let him know I would come immediately.

When I got there the beach was crowded, so it took a few minutes to find him. Paul took me over to the site of the loss, and explained how he had been running in the sand when his phone came out of his pocket, and disappeared. There were people all around, and one would think the phone would have been seen going into the sand, but they searched for over an hour with no luck. I readied my machine, and within 3 minutes found his phone; they were mystified. I handed it back to him, and he was very happy. A great recovery.

John sent me a text explaining how he had been putting up his Christmas lights, and realized his wedding ring was missing. He searched the area very diligently with a small handheld metal detector, yet was unable to locate it. I let him know that I could come right away to help find it for him.

When I got to John’s house he met me at the spot of the loss, and explained how he believed it occurred. I turned on my detector, and John went back to the house allowing me to get right to work. I made a couple of sweeps with my coil, and then I had to move a metal stake to cover another area. Right then I received the signal I was looking for, put in my pin pointer, and had John’s ring in about 2 minutes. I called him, and asked, « how fast did he want this job done? » He could not believe it was found so quickly. It does make a big difference when a person has the right equipment, and is expert in using it. Needless to say John was ecstatic at having his ring recovered.

Gold Wedding Ring Lost in Los Angeles Metro Line Green Way…Found and Happily Returned.

Alexis called informing me that he had been gardening in the green way next to the Metro train line when he noticed his ring missing from his finger. He spent some time looking but thought it might have been buried under the soil. He was hoping my detector would be able to find it, and I assured him that if it was there I would find it. We arranged a time, and I met him near the entrance to the green way.

Alexis took me over to the area, and showed me where he had been working. The area was not big, but there was a lot of loose soil where he had been working. I went over the area slowly finding some aluminum and foil, but no ring, so I began to go outside of the zone. Away from his work zone, and in some tall grass I got a good tone in the head phones. I looked down, and there was his ring. He was surprised it had gone over to that spot, but figured it had flipped off when he removed his glove. I made his day, and he was able to have his wedding ring of 43 years back on his finger again.

Brook called me for help. She had been getting her beach materials ready to leave when with the flick of her wrist her ring was lost in the sand. She had searched diligently, yet was unable to find it. I was able to go to help, even though it was getting late.

When I arrived, it was dark, and we were the only ones on that lonely beach. She showed me the area where she had marked it, and in the light of my headlight, I was able to see where she had been searching. I began my search, and searched the whole area with no luck. She had never left the beach, so the ring had to still be there. It was time to expand the search, and about 10 feet away from the original area I got a good signal, dug, and had a very pretty ring in the scoop. I showed her and she was very happy because it had been given to her. When we walked up to the highway, I said I would walk her to her car. She told me she was going to call for an UBER, so because it was extremely dark there, and there are a lot of homeless in the area I let her know I would wait with her until the UBER came. Then she asked if I could take her to the Metro train depot in Santa Monica about 10 miles away, which I said I would be happy to do for her safety. Great smile!

Tray contacted me concerning his ring. He was on vacation from New York visiting a local beach,, when while goofing around, his ring came off, and was lost in the sand. I was available, and let him know I would come right away to do a search for him.

When I arrived I was able to get with Tray, and he showed me the area explaining what he had done to cause the loss. I turned on my detector, and within 5 minutes was able to reunite Tray with his ring which made his day because he was scheduled to return to New York withing a couple of hours. A close call, but happily resolved.

It was late afternoon the day before Thanksgiving when Brad reached out about his lost wedding ring. He was visiting family and friends for the holiday and was spending the day with everyone at Zuma Beach in Malibu. They had been playing frisbee over about a hundred yard area when Brad suddenly realized he didn’t have his wedding ring anymore.

Wedding rinds are a big deal but this one was even bigger. This was his father’s wedding ring which had become his wedding ring upon his father’s passing. Two generations were lost somewhere on the beach and it was then he decided to reach out to the metal detective, Dave TheRingfinder.

We agreed to meet today, on Thanksgiving at 6am at Zuma Beach. It was still dark but light was beginning to edge it’s way into the day. Brad had set up way points on his phone to cover the area and I began to grid the beach. He was afraid he had lost it in the water but I assured him that if did I didn’t mind getting wet if that’s what it took to get it back. On the second pass in the grid I got a solid, clean tone on my Minelab Manticore and I sent my CKG scoop into the sand and dumped it outside the hole. It was still dark enough that I couldn’t really see anything so I scooped again and heard the tell-tale “clang” in the scoop and sure enough there was his ring.

Remember, time is of the essence when a loss occurs. Tides, shifting sands and other detectorists are possibly going to work against you. Judie called, seeming a little desperate, asking if I would be able to come and help her find her wedding ring. I let her know I was available, and would leave right away.

It took a while to find parking, but I was able to get to the area quickly. As soon as I got there her husband Rien found me, and led me to where the loss occurred. It amazed Judie and Rien that I was able to find the ring in just a few minutes, after they had spent an enormous amount of time looking for it. They had only been married for 5 months, so this loss was very important to find. I met some very nice people, and was able to allow them to sleep well that night!
