Branford Point Beach CT Platinum diamond ring returned from the ocean August 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

Vanessa and Jacob had been visiting a neighborhood beach and while playing pass with a football she noticed her platinum diamond ring had slipped off her finger. They started searching in the water to no avail. They went out and bought a metal detector and came back in the evening to look for it. After finding just a hair clip they did a search for ring finders. My name came up and they gave me a quick call to inquire about my services.

During the conversation she mentioned that her husband had been a former student. That’s a small world!

I came right away at 9:00 am since they had tickets to a basketball game and needed to leave the area by noon.

They had placed a rock at the suggestion of a kind lady on the beach as a marker to where they had noticed the ring was missing. The entire area was about a thirty-yard stretch of beach and knee to waist deep water. I gridded the area very thoroughly and could not get a solid target. They needed to leave and were still hopeful because I told them that I was committed to finding this ring and for them to pray. They very concerned that it might now be lost.

Since I know in excitement of the moment judging distances can be difficult and rings are seldom found where you expect them to turn up.  I widened the search area and since the tide had gone pretty far out started detecting the wet sand. A solid platinum level signal echoed in my headphones, and I exclaimed to everyone in ear shot that I had found the ring we had been looking for during the last 3 hours.

After a quick call to catch them before they left for the game they excitedly came back to the beach and were absolutely astonished that the ring was only a few feet from the placement of the lucky rock. They decided they also wanted to keep the rock as a memory of the day. The special lady on the beach saved the rock to give to them. we plan to get together again to reenact the moment and share the excitement of the recovery for their family and friends.

Misquamicut CT Platinum and gold heirloom wedding ring out of the surf July 2025

  • from Old Saybrook (Connecticut, United States)

John started the day having fun at Misquamicut and body surfing in the large waves that are pretty typical of this location. He suddenly felt the gold and platinum wedding ring slip off his finger and into the surf as he was washed forward with the wave. At that point he considered it to be a hopeless and lost cause. But some friends encouraged by my recent finds that had been posted on Facebook contacted me with the details of where he was in the surf at the time and gave me a pretty good place to start.

After a short gridding pattern and an adjustment for the tide and reported location that his friend had shared with me, the next solid signal resulted in his gold ring in the scoop. I went over to everyone on the beach to tell them the good news.

I then facetimed his wife who could not believe it and, in her amazement, expressed the joy that her prayers were answered. I teased John by sending him a picture of the ring and astounded he asked how his ring was now out of the surf and in my hands. He admitted he had given up all hope. I could feel the joy over the phone and his renewed faith in the prayers that his wife and others had shared.

A miracle in the surf praise prayer and glory to God to grant their wishes. When I met him at Dunkin donuts to give back his ring, he treated me to breakfast and honored me with a wonderful rosary from Assisi and a beautiful ceramic Saint Anthony medal. I also gave him two Saint Anthony medals for his wife and for their friend that had given me some really good directions and a lead as to where to start in the surf.

Lost Gold Ring Recovered at Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe

  • from Carson City (Nevada, United States)

July 17, 2025: Always scanning the internet for listings of lost valuables, that I can help recover in the Lake Tahoe area, I came upon an hours old facebook post about a lost ring in the water at Zephyr Cove. Messaging the person who posted the lost ring, I explained I had the equipment to make a competent search. Unable to search the very next day, I was concerned the ring would be found by a treasure hunter.

Early on the morning of July 19th, before the busy Saturday crowds arrived, I began searching in 3 to 4 feet of water. The person who posted on facebook had given specific details and landmarks of the lost ring search area. Using my blu3 Nemo and XP Deus2 metal detector, I began a search grid. 45 minutes into the search, I got a solid target signal that sounded better than the previous 9. With great anticipation, I dig my scoop into the target location. Sifting the sand through the scoop holes revealed a men’s gold wedding ring.

I quickly got back to the parking lot and texted the ring photos to the person who posted the lost ring. She confirmed that it was indeed her father’s lost wedding ring. Another successful recovery and ring returned back to its home.

Client’s Testimonial:  On July 16,2025: 35 years ago I wanted to go to Lake Tahoe for my honeymoon. I had seen pictures and thought it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. Well back then we couldn’t afford to make the trip from Indiana, but this year we finally made it. On July 16th we went to Zephyr Cove beach and my husband, Tony, was tossing a football in the water with my son and grandson. All of a sudden he said my wedding ring is gone! We couldn’t believe it. My daughter looked and looked, despite the freezing cold water, and others nearby looked as well. Finally we had to face the fact it was gone. My husband was devastated, stating he wanted to be buried in that ring. It’s still the original that I gave him 35 years ago on our wedding day. I made my peace with it by stating it was a fitting end that I wanted to go to Tahoe my whole married life and when we finally did, his ring ended up lost to the lake. He didn’t like that thought and it gave him no peace at all. Finally my daughter said let’s look for a local page on fb and post it and maybe someone will find it one day and return it. I told her I’m sure it would be many years but maybe someday, after we were gone, someone would find it and return it to our kids or grandkids. Well Trevor Oxborrow from Ring Finders commented on my daughter’s post and asked us to identify where we were and meet him there. We had already left Tahoe and were due to fly home the next morning, see she told him exactly where we had been and sent a picture of the location. Trevor stated he’d go to the lake within a day or two and see if he could find the ring. Well imagine our surprise when a very short time later my daughter received a message to contact him. He sent her a picture of her dad’s ring! We were elated! Trevor mailed the ring back to us and it is back where it belongs comfortably on my husband’s hand. He said he felt naked without it and is so very happy and grateful to anyone that had anything to do with us getting it back. Thank you Trevor and all of the kind people in Tahoe and elsewhere who have sent kind comments or helped us that day for our ring. Without Trevor, Tahoe would forever hold my husband’s ring, and as lovely as Tahoe is, it belongs with him.

Sleeping Bear Dunes, Michigan on Platte River, Cellphone recovery

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

Jeff T, has been camping at Lake Township Campgrounds for over 16 years with a group of relatives and friends. This area is a mecca for canoes, tubes and kayaks and is one of the most beautiful National Parks with the Platte river leading into Lake Michigan and surrounded by mountain’s of sand dunes. The group was floating down the river when Jeff lost his balance and dropped his Android cell phone in about 4 feet of water. Several members of the group jumped in the water to help find the phone to no avail.

After hearing about the Ringfinders, Jeff called me and 2 hours later Jeff and I were walking .2 miles along the riverbank. We reached the spot and I did a grid search of 10 feet by 10 feet in water about 4 to 5 feet deep. The river was slowly meandering with a slow current. We were almost ready to give up when I got an overload on my detector and dug up a scoop of sand, silt and gravel and a corner of the cell appeared. Jeff took out the cell and said this is it. After some hugs and thank yous we headed back to our cars.

We went back to the canoe livery and had a bite to eat. While eating we discovered we both had a similar family tragedy that made this hunt more memorable.

By the way, Jeff will let me know if the cell data was able to be recovered.

Wedding Ring Found In Gun Lake, Shelbyville, MI

  • from Holland (Michigan, United States)

Larabel got the call and told them to call me. Jake and Kelsey have been married for one year and 5 days and she lost her ring today. They were having a big party at this private residence and a volley ball game was in progress in knee deep water next to the dock. Kelsey was close to the net on the left side and hit the ball with her left hand and the ring went flying with the ball. After about 30 minutes I found her ring across the net and almost out of bounds on the far right corner-this lady has a mean arm. I had a crowd of about 25 people watching and I dug a few pieces of junk to keep them on their toes. When I found the ring I gave them the signal and the cheers went up. The party is back on in full swing!!

I got a call about a lost men’s wedding ring in the water at Boater’s beach in Bay City Michigan. I met with the man’s wife, her mother and kids to search for it. They took me out to about waist deep water and I got a 22 signal on my minelab equinox 800. I knew it had to be something good, because that isn’t a typical number. I scooped it up and there the ring was. I found it in less than 10 minutes.

Handmade Wedding Ring Found in Vermont

Got a voicemail on Thursday from a lady who had lost her wedding ring about 10 days earlier. It was lost somewhere in a Summer camp “village” on the shore of Lake Champlain. She wasn’t worried about someone walking off with it because it’s a small, private area where everybody knows each other, so we made plans for me to go search on the weekend.

Her ring was very special not only because it was her wedding band, but also because her husband had made it for her!

So, I went there this morning, met some of her family and a lot of nice, helpful people. She was back home out of state and couldn’t be here today. I searched the 2 areas where she thought she may have lost it, near a swing set and in the water near the dock, with no luck. So, I decided to expand and search the likely foot routes she may have walked around the village. After about 3 hours, I needed to think about stopping, because of pain from an ailment I’m dealing with. Then the perfect signal happened! I moved the grass and pressed fully into the dirt was a gold ring. I dug it out, cleaned it off and called her with the good news. I guess a car or truck must have drove over it, but it was fine.

I’ll be able to give it to her soon when she returns for another visit.

** Cindy is from Seattle, WA., while vacationing at Laguna, CA. her gold chain with 2 gold pendants was lost in the ocean. She knew the necklace came off her neck when she gold tumbled by a wave in waist deep water. She has worn this necklace with pendants that were gifts from her deceased brother and another pendant that was purchased in Greece 40 years ago. (Irreplaceable )

She called me after she had returned to Seattle. I was able to determine a general search location and after two searches at the next low tide cycles, I was able to recover all three items. Cindy was elated when I called her. I mailed the items to her the next day express mail at her request.

I always like the person who lost their jewelry to meet me at the location, it isn’t always possible. With today’s technology I can do searches using gps co-ordinates, photos, FaceTime phone calls, ring doorbell videos,  etc.

Wisconsin Lost Wedding band Recovered St. Croix River

  • from Twin Cities Metro (Minnesota, United States)

A young man and his family went to the St. Croix river for a day at the beach. While out in approx. 6 feet of water, he felt something hit his hand (he assumes it was a fish) and he felt his gold wedding band slip off his finger. He dove down and searched to no avail. This is a generational ring that has been in his family for decades. He remembered talking with a family member who went to Florida on vacation and lost his ring in the ocean. A ring finder from theringfinders.com website helped him recover that ring. So, without hesitation he got on his iPhone and searched theringfinders.com website and called me. As it was getting late in the day and the ring being lost at the depth of 6 feet, we planned for a dive/search the next day. With a ring being lost at a depth over 5 feet, the chances of a novice rogue metal detectorist finding it are zero. We met, discussed the area and I suited up. He went out and stood in the area to give me a reference point to focus on. After cleaning out the area for about 10 minutes and no luck, we decided to move in towards shore just a bit, still over 5 feet depth. Right away I received a strong solid hit on my Excalibur detector, I brushed away the top layer of sand and there shined that sold gold band. The water in this river is surprisingly clear which is always a plus while diving.

Congrats on your ring and thanks for contacting theringfinders.com – We all truly care about getting that lost valuable back where it belongs!!!

Extremely Sentimental Gold Wedding Ring Lost In The Ogunquit Maine Sand, Found With A Metal Detector

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

After finding and returning a lost necklace, with two pendants, in Ogunquit, Maine, Cheryl and I returned home. It wasn’t a half hour after returning home, when I received the following message, that also included three photos,

“I lost a gold knot ring on Ogunquit Beach yesterday. It is inscribed inside with 4/13/1975. Here are pics where we were sitting.”
I immediately replied,

“Hi Kristine, I am so sorry to hear this.
“I literally just returned from Ogunquit, Maine. I found a lost necklace and pendants, for a young lady.
Were you in the water or dry sand? I can’t tell where this is, from the photos. I have only been down near the Norseman Resort. Is this near the Norseman Resort?
Kristine replied,

“Hello. The ramp going down to the beach from parking lot just before the handicap spaces. We were in the left of the ramp a few feet in front of the rocks. It was the dry sand. In the pic with the women in white looking at the sand was where we were located We were far right if the Norseman off the parking lot. Is this enough info? If you plan on going back I can meet you there. I am here another night but will be going back to Mass sometime tomorrow
Kris”

I then sent Kristine a photo and I circled two ramps and asked her to identify which ramp is the one she was at. She replied that it was the one I had circled in red. I asked her if she could meet me there and that I would leave right now. Kristine said she would meet me there. Now when a ring is missing, in a public space, time is of the essence. Especially in the dry sand on beaches. The area Kristine had been in is very heavily metal detected and I was praying no one had found it yesterday, or this morning. Any beach goer could also have found it already, also. I needed to get there, asap. I also asked Kristine if she saw or felt the ring coming off. Her reply

“I think it was when I took it off to put lotion on and then place it in a pouch. The odd thing was I also had 2 other rings that I took off and they made it into the pouch. I did not feel it fall. Yes been praying to St Anthony 🙏?”

As I arrived back, to Ogunquit Maine, I called Kristine and told her I had just arrived, she told me that she was stuck in traffic and was still 10 minutes out. I told Kristine that I would start searching, without her and if I was in the wrong location, she could let me know, when she arrived. Cheryl and I immediately went down the ramp and the area was still packed with people. There was an area no one was in and it looked just like the photo, that Kristine had sent me. As I was getting my detector ready, I explained to the people, in the area, that I was searching for a very sentimental lost ring. Everyone was very understanding and asked if I needed them to move. I told them they didn’t need to move just yet, as I would search the area, no one was in. If I was unable to find the ring, I would have Kristine show me the exact area, once she arrived in approximately 10 minutes. As I started my search, I found a dime, on the first grid line. I took a half step towards the parking lot, I started my grid line search. About 3 steps in, I heard a very loud target, through the headphones. I took my pinpointer out of my pouch and located the target. As I brushed the sand away m I saw a Big Gold Ring, with a knot design on it. I couldn’t believe I just found Kristine’s ring as everyone in the area started clapping and cheering for me. Unbelievable. The only area I could search and I had the ring, before Kristine had even arrived. I asked everyone not to say anything to Kristine when she arrived because I wanted to surprise her. They all agreed.
Kristine arrived a few moments later and I asked her if I was in the right area. When Kristine turned around, to survey the area, I pulled the ring out and held it up. When Kristine turned around she saw the ring and her hand went to her heart and I could see her eyes getting watery. Applause broke out from the surrounding people and smiles were everywhere. Kristine explained that her husband had passed away 7 years earlier and that she had taken her wedding ring, her husband’s wedding ring and had them melted together. The jeweler then designed the Knot Ring, with their wedding date engraved, on the inside of the ring, 4-13-75. This meant that they would be entwined for eternity. Now Cheryl, myself and others around us were getting teary eyed. Kristine’s friend told us that Kristine was just sick to her stomach about losing this ring and had not slept much, the night before. Kristine even talked to her husband, through prayer and told him she was sorry to have lost their wedding rings. Wow, What a story and I am so happy to have been able to find this extremely sentimental ring. As I always say, every ring has a story and now I am part of the story. I could not be happier or more proud, to have been able to be there for Kristine. 😀❤️🙏
