When It Rains It Pours……

….All of us from time to time have experienced tough times, unforeseen occurrences affect everyone. Newly married couple Cassidy and Chris are no exceptions. Recently their home had a major repair done, then their car’s transmission went out and a few other things. So, to get away from it all they decided to have a picnic in the park and somehow Cassidy’s ring went missing. Chris called me asking for help and we met on a Thursday afternoon. When they got to the park he parked 200 feet from me, and they walked over. I asked why you park way down there? He said the car stalled thinking the fuel gauge wasn’t working and may be out of gas. So, he went to get a gas can and Cassidy and I went to search with the metal detector. Chris’s area of search was way smaller than what Cassidy described. It would take longer to search the wider area. As I was just getting into the search, high winds came in on us bending the tree branches followed by a torrential rain and lightning. We ran back to my vehicle to take cover and get onto solid ground. We decided to come back Saturday morning to continue. On Friday I checked in with Cassidy on the plans and she was so upset about everything she just wanted to forget about the ring and move on. I didn’t respond and Saturday I went back to the park, systematically grid searched and found her stunning ring. It’s a large ring and it was sticking up high enough beneath the grass that a lawnmower would have hit it. I sent pics to them and said I think you should come to the park! Arriving shortly, they both were overwhelmed with emotion that I came back to find her ring. With their problems put behind them I mentioned to them the importance of not giving up on their memories the ring has given them and hold onto their goals and dreams and strive to reach them because things will eventually get better.

Neighborhood Yard Sale’s……

Do indeed have some valuable trinkets. Every so often someone’s trash really is a treasure. Ladonna, her mom and nearby residents got all their stuff together to have a quick go at selling. It was towards evening of the sale that LaDonna noticed her ring missing. A panic attack started to develop, wondering where it may be since she was moving between homes carrying things all day. Did it fall off into one of the trays or bags of clothes for sale and someone took it? I told her the best I can do is help search thru what bags/containers were left and metal detect the ground. While she checked the remaining sale containers, I started to grid search where she remembers walking. I didn’t get any signals from next door but 3 doors down I got a signal in the grass that matched where a ring of this type should read on the metal detector meter. I thought what’s the chance of this being her ring.? As some trash items do hover in this meter range, if this was a trash signal could it really be treasure?….as the saying goes. Reaching thru the grass I couldn’t believe what I was about to pull up….it was her ring! A gorgeous specimen as the diamonds were sparkling with fire, truly a fine piece! I immediately called her and said I had a question about a HOT ITEM found 3 doors down, she thought I got sidetracked with sale items on the table and wasn’t looking for her ring and appeared upset. That changed quickly when I had her reach into the grass and pull up her ring! She was speechless and I thought she was going to pass out from excitement. She laughed when I said I’ve struck gold at a yard sale, what kind of price can you put on that?

Tug of War…..

……So having missed the international tug of war day on Feb. 19th, Brendan and Sara’s dog Charlie decided on Father’s Day to get some practice in before the national tug of war day in August. Little does Charlie know that the tug of war day is for people…but he doesn’t care, he just wants to be included in any type of play and had been watching them go back and forth with the rope. Taking a break Sara grabbed a small tug rope and threw it out in the yard in random directions as Charlie fetched it. Back in the house she noticed her ring came off. Her and Brendan visually searched but to no avail. While Sara had to attend a work meeting, I met Brendan and started to search the yard, first the thick bushes where Sara thought it may be then the thicker grass. No luck, so I went out as far as I could and started to work inwards and after a few minutes got a good metal signal from the metal detector out near the property line roughly 35 feet from where Sara remembers being. Reaching down into the grass I pulled up her spectacular ring! Brendan came running to the location and was thrilled that it was found even tho so far away than thought. As Charlie approached with the look that Brendan and Sara were pretty evenly matched, I said Sara would probably make a great softball pitcher!

Queen of the Waterslide……

…….Remember how much fun it was to go to your grandparent’s house for the day or weekend? I have very fond memories of that! Such was the case with Lauren, her children and other family members who were invited to the grandparent’s place recently to escape the heat. Usually, small kiddie pools were set up but, on this day, grandpa presented a nice waterslide on a hilly portion of his property for them to enjoy. And that they did. Hours went by of sliding and running around up and down the hill, by day’s end everyone was cooled off and waterlogged. While starting to dry off, Lauren noticed her wedding ring was missing. Bewildered, what was she to do as this ring was her grandmother’s that was passed to her for her wedding, so for sure some sentimentality attached to it. Luckily, this was not the grandma’s house who gave her the ring. So, she rented a toy type metal detector and discovered the hill had lots of trash metal from the house construction years ago. I started a grid search using my MXT metal detector knowing the approximate number her ring should be on the metal detector’s meter, thus passing over the junk metal signals. I traipsed up and down the hill where the waterslide was for almost 45 minutes with no ring signal. Lauren was convinced she was nowhere else but on that hill by the waterslide. I started to think otherwise and started to metal detect next to the house where the side door was where everyone was coming in/out. Sure enough a few feet from the door in the thick grass a good metal signal came thru at zero depth, so I felt good about this one. Reaching down in the grass revealed her beautiful ring! Waving at her, she and the children rushed right over. As she smiled reaching down and holding up the ring, I asked…Do you feel like a Queen? She said yes and of the waterslide as well!

The Class of 1921 Graduates….

…Finally, their day had arrived. After receiving his diploma, Rudy’s great grandfather set out to achieve many goals.  Prior to this he had bought a gold class ring and over time the ring has been handed down to various family members. When Rudy was 21 yrs. of age his family presented this ring to him as a total surprise for following in his great grandfather’s footsteps as regards education and achieving goals. He wore it with pride and was always excited to talk about the history behind it. But one day he was having a great time at a friend’s pool throwing footballs, diving off the diving board and going down the slide. After some time had passed his ring was missing. Devastated about the loss the thoughts of having to explain to his parents was causing him not to think clearly about where the ring may be. I arrived and metal detected the grounds area with no success. Searching further out I received a good metal signal in one of the neighbor’s yards. Reaching down into the grass revealed Rudy’s simply stunning ring! Totally thrilled the weight of the loss was off his shoulders, he said it was time to celebrate, congrats and a huge bravo! Caps off to a well-deserved success!

Ricardo called me asking for help finding his wedding ring. He had been at the beach an hour before, and after he left his ring was missing. He wasn’t able to meet me there, but was able to give concise directions as to where he had been. I let him know I was available, and was on my way in just a few minutes. It is always important to conduct a search as soon as is possible in order to increase the possibility of a recovery.

I was able to get to the beach in good time, and using Ricardo’s directions, was able to find the area for the search. There were many people in the area, and I was thinking that they might have placed their towel over his ring. I began in the open areas between the towels trying not to disturb anyone while I searched. I made one pass down the beach, then began my way up, when in the middle of the beach I received a solid signal, dug, and had the ring. I looked a my phone, and saw that 4 minutes earlier Ricardo sent a text asking if I was having any trouble finding the beach, and my reply was « I have your ring. » which amazed him. He lived close in a nearby town, and asked if I could drop it in his mailbox.

I made it over to his house, put his ring in the mailbox, wrapped in some papers to insure it stayed where it dropped, and felt great about the search. Didn’t get to see the smile, but I know it was there.

Inherited Gold Ring Lost in Park Playing Frisbee in Toronto, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Russell was hanging out with Friends throwing around a frisbee in a Toronto park close to the Beaches!

Russell went and purchased a metal detector but could not find his ring so he searched out and found TheRingFinders directory.

I proceeded down very early morning to miss the crazy Toronto downtown “Gardiner Expressway” traffic!

I found out the inherited gold ring from his Mother was quite large and heavy so it was necessary to start a grid search to cover a large area.

Well over an hour in, I decided to bring out my 2nd metal detector and put Russell to work! Within 25 minutes Russell had a loud tone in the machine, looked down and there was his beautiful ring!

He was extremely happy!
