Diamond Stud Earring Lost in the Grass in Newbury Park High School…Found and Happily Returned.

I received a call from Demond about a lost diamond stud earring he lost in the grass at a high school where he coaches football. We arranged to meet the next day in order to get right on the search so as to not let too much time go by.

When I got there Demond met me and took me to the area of the loss. He showed me where he and the team he was coaching had pulled the grass up looking for the lost earring with no luck. I began my search in a grid pattern, and made a few passes. Demond then showed me where he thought the earring actually came off, so I moved to that spot to continue the search. After about 5 or 6 swings of the coil over the grass, I got a good solid signal, and switched to my pin pointer. I worked through the grass, and then the pin pointer was hearing the metal in the muddy dirt under the grass, so I worked my finger in to dislodge whatever it was, when I saw the earring come up, and flip into the already moved grass. It just made for a little more searching, but I eventually recovered the earring, and gave it back to Demond, who was very happy, because the earrings were a present from his wife for their anniversary. His smile tells it all!

Adam called about the loss of his ring, a ring that had been his great uncle’s, given to him by his late mother. It had special significance, because it was a ring of a fraternal order that Adam also is a member of. I let him know I would be over to do the search as soon as we could coordinate schedules.

When I arrived at Adam’s house, he took me to the area of the loss, which wasn’t real large (assuming it had not fallen down the hill into another yard). Adam had borrowed a friend’s metal detector, a good named brand, and tried to find the ring, but was unable to. I understand why because when I began searching his yard I was hearing a lot of iron, so it must have been frustrating to do the search hearing beep after beep, not knowing what to listen for. It really did not take more than a couple of minutes until I was able to get the tone, and VDI number I was looking for. I reached down, and retrieved Adam’s ring, which was a surprise to him that the search would have been so short. Metal detectors work very well, but the experience of knowing what to look, and listen for is what enables us to be able to pick out the signals that make the difference, and not get frustrated ourselves. It was a pleasure meeting Adam, talking about our lives (we have similar extracurricular activities), and being able to help him. What a great time!

Steve Smith is amazing! I called Steve after I lost my vintage Scottish Rite ring in my garden after pulling weeds. The ring was given to me by my late mother, and was from the 1920s. It has tremendous sentimental value to me and I was heartbroken after discovering that I had lost it. Tip: never pull weeds without wearing gloves, no matter how tempting. After immediately discovering my ring not on my finger, I told my wife. She found Steve’s info and I was about to call him, but she said to try finding the ring myself first. I spent several hours crawling around where I thought I had lost it. Digging into the ground well into the evening. I then remembered a friend telling me that he owned a metal detector and that he occasionally would go gold hunting. I called him up and picked up the metal detector wrapped in a plastic garbage bag. He told me to pull up the instructions off of the internet and wished me good luck. After watching several Youtube videos, I started to look for the ring. The metal detector began to pick up sounds from every type of metal in the ground, including years of nails, and other garbage. After about four frustrating hours, I gave up and called Steve. He came over the next day and I told him the story of what happened and my attempts at finding the ring while he assembled his gear. He then started to search and within two minutes exclaimed “is this what you are looking for?” I was amazed at Steve’s abilities at finding things. I really can’t thank him enough. We ended up speaking afterwards for a good forty-five minutes. It turns out we are both surfers and had a great time talking about that. Wedding Ring Lost in Grass at Manhattan Beach Park…Found and Returned.

I got an email from Jeremy on Sunday night. He had lost his wedding ring at a sports park the day before in the grass, and was not able to find it. He had removed it, and placed it in the cup holder of his chair to apply sunscreen, a story we hear all too often for sure. I let him know I was available the next day if he could meet me to show me where to look. We agreed on a time, and the meeting was set.

When I arrived Jeremy was waiting for me, and took me right over to the area. He showed me what he had done, and how he had left the field, so I knew where I would be looking. Also knowing this was a relatively new field, I did not expect a lot of metal to be there (foil, bottle caps, pull tabs, etc). That was the wrong assumption for sure, it seemed like there was something almost every swing of the coil that I had to check. A lot of fencing from the field perimeter was in the ground, and giving off a real good signal. This made for a slow search, as I covered the area. I searched all that Jeremy had showed me, and it was now time to expand the search out of the box. I searched into one field with no results, and then went over to the other field, got a good signal, looked down, and there on the surface of some dead grass was the ring. It was white gold which reflected the true color of its surrounding, so it was pretty much camouflaged right in the open. Jeremy had to go back to work, so I called, and he came right over very happy for the recovery. As a member of The Ring Finders, it is a pleasure to create these smiles!

Keys Lost at El Segundo Beach…Found and Returned.

Khrysta called about 7:30 PM in dire need of metal detecting service. She had buried her keys on the beach so that she could go in the water without worrying someone would take them. The problem was that when she and her friend were ready to leave, they packed everything up and went back to the car, a good distance from their original position. Needless to say, it seemed an impossible task to find them again, as there were very few people, or other landmarks to get them back to the exact spot they had been in. I let her know I would be there as soon as I could get there.

When I got there Khrysta and her friend met me, and took me out to the area they believed the loss to have occurred. As I looked over the area under the light of my headlight, I could see where they had searched, so I began my grid. I made about 8 passes, When I noticed another area where they had searched, and asked if that might have been where they had been. They weren’t sure at that point, but felt that I was searching in the most likely spot, so I continued my grid. It was about 4 more passes, and I got a signal, dug and saw this big pink light stick in the scoop. Khrysta and her friend saw it too, knew that I had found the keys, and came right over. They were very happy. Now they could go home without worry. Glad to have helped!

****’Kerry and her fiancé Ben were attending a beach party at Doheny State Beach Campgrounds, Dana Point ,CA.  She put her platinum/diamond engagement ring on her lap while applying sunscreen. After getting up, the ring fell into the sand. She didn’t notice her ring missing for about an hour after getting up. Even though she knew the small area where the ring should be, neither she or any of her friends could find it.

One of the friends in their group told Kerry to call TheRingFinders. So Kerry called me asking me if I was available to help her find her engagement ring. I was just finishing another search, so I met her an hour later.

It was a happy group of beach people waiting to see if I could find the ring that everybody had tried to find. I just told them that I have the best tool to find rings and I know how to operate it. Fingers do not work well to find rings in the sand. I started in a straight line towards the suspected zone of the loss, when I got a signal. About 10 or 12 of the group got excited when the saw me pause over the signal. I just said, “calm down, this could be a pull tab or a platinum/diamond engagement ring” … Boom !!!  Kerry’s ring in the scoop.  She lit up like a Christmas tree, big smile and relieved that she had her special ring back where it belongs. It’s nice to get an easy search now and then. The unsuccessful searches take hours and we don’t write about them in our blogs.

KUUIPO – Hawaiian for – “My Sweetheart” Ring Lost/Found at: Craigville, MA and returned

From Hawaii, 20 years ago, to August of 2018, just after a Cape Cod fishing trip and an afternoon splash in the surf, the Kuuipo ring having been to many places and seeing numerous memorable occasions it decided to take a rest in King Neptune’s domain. From being purchased as a promissory ring in Hawaii to beneath the waters of a popular beach the ring stayed hidden and resting for over a year until I brought it back into the sunshine. Thinking that the uniqueness of the ring would draw some attention if posted on social media, I made a posting. As luck would have it, Luke, another RingFinder, had been contacted and searched for the ring to no avail over the past year. The news of the ring being found spread swiftly and Luke picked up on the finding and called with the owner’s information. I then made contact with Brina and made arrangements for the ring’s return.

A couple of days later the ring was reunited with Brina who passed on the story of the ring and why it was no longer a complete circle. It had been cut off a finger several years ago but not by choice.

Although a lost object may not be initially found, there is always hope that someday it will be found and through our network of friends and the RingFinders the owner will receive the sentimental item back. Luke and I have done this in the past and look forward to our next return.

Sentimental Gold Ring Lost & Found In The Sea Swanage Beach

Millie & family were enjoying their last day on Swanage Beach when disaster struck. Out to sea, about waist deep Millie felt her gold ring slip from her finger. The ring had huge sentimental value as it was given to her on her 18th birthday from her mum as it was given to her on HER 18th birthday too.

Quickly I went to the area knowing how soft the sand was under the sea in that area. I wasnt very optimistic because of this however after half an hour came a distinctive tone of gold. Millie & family were overjoyed to have the ring back. It reminds me why myself & others dedicate our time, for no personal reward to recover lost items because of the relief & appreciation they show. Millie has said she will kindly donate to the Margaret Green Animal Charity soon.

Man loses 18k wedding band on a dock Stewart Lake, Mactier, ON 🇨🇦

Mass & Joanne were at their Friends cottage on beautiful Stewart Lake in Mactier, Ontario in the Township of Georgian Bay in absolutely breathtaking Muskoka Region.

They were enjoying a lovely day on the dock when they heard a click and a clang. Mass realized his 18k yellow/white gold wedding band had slipped off his finger, hit the deck and dropped into the water below.

They searched that day with no luck. They were up early to search the next morning with again no luck. Joanne googled « how to find a lost ring » and « THE RING FINDERS » directory came up. We traded emails throughout the week and set a date and time!

I arrived and shortly after Joanne and the cottage owners arrived! We brought all my gear down and here’s how it went….

It too 22 seconds to hear « that » distinctive gold tone on my Minelab Excalibur2… Then 36 seconds to get safety get under the dock to grasp the wedding band amongst the debris!!

Happy to help this couple out and grateful their charitable donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!! PAYING IT FORWARD!! Thank you Mass & Joanne!

Badminton can be a contact sport!

Received an email from Greg today saying he needed help in finding his wife’s earring that was lost yesterday playing doubles in their backyard sand filled volley/badminton court.  In the heat of the battle Greg swung and hit Kate in the head by mistake with his racket.

After the match and heading back to the house she noticed her earring missing.  Time to call TheRingfinders!  Gregg Larabel, my fellow ringfinder, and I jumped in the car and headed out for the search.

Greg showed us the spot where they were standing when Kate was hit in the head with the racket and nearby I got a good signal.  Greg knelt down and used his fingers to sift thru the sand and retrieved his wife’s earring.

As you can see the earring should be in a U shaped so he hit her pretty good to straighten out the wire.  They won the badminton match so Kate forgave him for hitting her in the head.  The smiles on their faces is what it is all about.
