Lost Platinum and Gold Wedding Ring Malibu, CA…Found.

I was having breakfast this morning when I received a call from Pam. She asked if could help her find her husband’s wedding band. They were having a party Friday July 3rd in their backyard when her husband wanted to go for an ocean swim (their property backs up right to ocean). Their backyard is set up like a beach surrounded by a deck with lots of beach sand, beach chairs, and even beach balls. Pam’s husband put all of his important belongings including his ring  into his hat on a table on the deck so he would not lose them. What happened next was that Pam moved the hat, not realizing the items were inside, and flung them into their beach backyard. They had done some serious searching. I could see the lines in the sand showing how they had dragged the sand for the ring, but with no results. I am glad they found me, as I was free to go today and search for them.

When I got there, as I said I could see the drag marks in the sand, and Pam explained to whole loss process to me. It is so good to have someone know exactly what happened, and remember how the loss took place, to make it easier to help them. I got my detector ready, and in about 20 seconds had the ring in my scoop. It was then Pam and I talked about my time with The Ring Finders. We were going through my book of smiles when she offered up that they had been married for 3 years, and today was their anniversary; HOW GREAT IS THAT!? What a great day. What a great smile.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard to help you find what you thought might never be found again. Lost Ring at Playa Del Rey Beach, CA…Found.

We had just gotten home about 10:00 PM from watching a great fireworks show on the Fourth of July, when I checked my messages, and saw that I had received a call from Ryan. I called back, and he told me how he was playing volleyball at the beach, and when ready to leave realized his ring was missing. This ring had a lot of sentimental value to him, because he had received it from his stepfather who had passed away. He had played both sides of the court, and also had been in an area outside the court where the loss may have occurred. Knowing the critical issue of time we arranged to meet right after we hung up. I arrived at the spot about 12:30 AM, and Ryan showed me the area. I began my search, and about 5 minutes into it I heard a thump, and then a BOOM right over my head. Someone had shot off a mortar not 60 feet from where I was searching. Not expecting that I jumped, but as soon as I realized it was some late partying I was good with the fireworks that kept coming. I searched the whole area for a little more than an hour getting a few coins , but without hearing the ring. I told Ryan I might come back and try again, but he seemed a bit resigned to fact that he might not see it again.

It wasn’t until I got home I realized why I was not able to find his ring when I read his description of the ring. Although I was using a state of the art multi-frequency VLF machine, it was not going to hit on a broken ring, if it would hear it at all. Ryan’s description said the ring had an opening, when I saw that, I knew I was going to use my PI machine and go back the next day. After I found a ring for Miguel in Santa Monica, I headed back over to Playa Del Rey to look again for Ryan’s ring. I had to wait until a group of people were finished playing on the court to start my search. It then took me about 5 minutes to find his ring. I then sent a text message with only the picture of the ring above, no words. The text I received back from him was YES!!! He was amazed that someone he did not know would go back and look for his ring. It was great to see his joy.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard to help you find what you thought might never be found again. I received a call from Miguel July 5th asking if I would be able to help him find his wedding ring. We arranged to meet in the afternoon at the location of the loss. When I arrived Miguel took me to the site, which was a volleyball court. I then proceeded to ask how the ring was lost. He knew exactly where he was when the ring came off. He felt it come off, but did not see where it landed. He explained how all of his friends began a thorough search of the area he believed the ring to fly into with no results, he then found me on TheRingFinders.com.

I asked Miguel to show me what he did to cause the ring to come off, so he reenacted  the hit to the ball. I noticed that his hands moved in such a way to possibly cause the ring to go off in a different direction, but started my search where he thought it was. After searching the area he showed me, I started my search in the area I envisioned the ring to fly into, and in about 2 minutes more, « BANG », my earphones rang out with the sound I was anticipating. I held his ring up, and his joy seemed overwhelming. Miguel had just gotten married in April, and he explained how he felt burdened because of the loss, also his wife had taken it very hard. Well I got to experience Miguel’s smile, but I wish I was there when he went back to his wife, because he was going to hold off telling her until he got home. I would have loved to see her smile as well. Wonderful day.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard to help you find what you thought might never be found again. Estate Search for Gold Krugerrands

Estate Search for Gold Krugerrands

I was contacted by a resident in Houston regarding the possibility of buried Gold Krugerrands on his property. The homeowner reported that a family member may have previously buried one or more of the gold coins in a very specific location on the property. The homeowner was also was aware that they may have been removed previously by the same family member.

The homeowner was looking to verify if the coins where in the described location, or if they had previously been removed. The homeowner had taken some measures himself to search for the coins. The homeowner had excavated a large portion of the dirt from the small area in question with no results.

The excavated dirt as well as the area in question was extensively scanned and examined with the CTX 3030 with negative results. I was able to scan the sample coin on the ground, and it came back as a solid 1245, in a combined search mode. This was extremely helpful, although it did not prevent me from digging anything and everything made of metal.

Unfortunately, we didn’t find any additional Gold Krugerrands, but I found the story very interesting, and it’s every treasure hunters dream.

The name of the client and the scene audio in the post has been excluded for obvious reason.

Lost Gold and Diamond Nugget Ring Found Pasadena, Texas

07/06/2015

I was contact by Kathleen regarding a lost gold ring in the backyard of her residence. Kathleen said, her boyfriend had been playing water volleyball in the pool when his ring flew off his finger. Kathleen said after an unsuccessful effort at finding the ring, she located « The Ring Finders » online.

I met with Kathleen at her residence this afternoon and was shown the areas needing to be searched. Kathleen believed the ring might have landed in the thick landscaping around the edge of the pool. I searched the grassy outer area of the landscaping first, hoping I would not have to walk in and threw their nice landscaping. The grass area yielded negative results and I moved into the landscaping identifying numerous metal obstruction like landscaping lights, underground wiring and cables.

I had slowly searched the landscaping area twice and was at the far end of the pool in a smaller patch of landscaping when I hit a solid signal. I lifted up the vegetation and saw the ring sitting right on top of the brown mulch. There was no missing it.

Lost 70 Year Old Wedding Ring Found in the Heights-Houston Texas

07/03/2015

I was contacted by Buddy and Sandy of Houston regarding Buddy’s lost wedding band. Sandy said her husband had been doing some yard work (digging) when he lost his wedding band in their backyard.

Sandy said the wedding band had strong sentimental value, explaining the wedding ring had belonged to her father, and when she married Buddy it became his Wedding Band-Ring.

Sandy wanted to know if I could assist them in finding their lost prized possession » Buddy’s Wedding Ring »

O7/04/2015

I met with Buddy and Sandy at their residence and was shown the area needing to be searched. Buddy said he had been checking the homes sewer pipe after a large tree had been removed from the backyard. Buddy said he was concerned the homes sewer pipe might have been damaged after the removal of a large tree. Buddy said he dug down approximately two foot to examine the sewer the pipe determining it had not been damaged. Buddy said,  he later realized his wedding ring was missing after he had completed the inspection of the sewer pipe.

That was a little concerning, but as it turned out the ring was found on the surface a few yards from where Buddy had been digging.

Wedding Ring Set Recovered on Pass-A-Grille Beach, Florida

Right place at the right time for this recovery
***************************************************************************
SRARC member Paul Hill was detecting Pass a Grille Beach when he was told by some swimmers that a young lady had lost her wedding ring set.  Heading that way he saw about 6 swimmers with masks on trying to help her find her rings.  Paul listened to Britney explain that she thought she lost it while swimming in the general area.  Paul got right to work and searched the area around where everyone was.  With no luck, Paul asked Britney if she felt it come off or just realized it was gone? Thinking back she wasn’t positive but it might have come off as she dove into the water.  Paul then asked where her beach chair was located so he could deduce where she would have entered the water.  With things lined up another grid pattern was established.  Working the grid Paul made a few more passes and got close to the shore and heard a slight grunt in about 2 feet of water.  One scoop later the wedding band was found and the engagement ring was found within a foot of that.  Britney’s mom verified that those were it and called her daughter and fiancé that the rings had been found and they can cancel their trip to rent a metal detector.  Britney was so excited to get her rings back as their wedding is planned for the end of July.
SRARC sends best wishes to the bride and groom.

Lost Man’s Gold Wedding Band – Recovered and Returned in North Myrtle Beach, SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I received an e-mail from Candy on June 22nd stating that her and her husband Charles, had been in North Myrtle Beach on their honeymoon.  He had lost his gold with diamond cut silver lining wedding band in the ocean in about waist deep water. She gave me a general idea of where it was lost and the hotel they were staying at as a reference.

I had a strong feeling this was going to be a tough hunt as it was. To complicate matters, the ring was lost ten days earlier on June 12th (one day after their wedding), I was currently out of town on vacation and Candy and Charles were back home. I contacted my counterpart, Matt Fry in Myrtle Beach, and asked him if he’d contact Candy and see if he could help her.  He did, and he also got a couple of pictures of the ring, but due to work obligations he wasn’t able to do an immediate search.

I returned home from vacation two days later and contacted Matt for an update on the ring. He said he wasn’t able to search and sent me the pictures. The following evening I hit the beach at low tide and started the search without a more definitive area to search. After 3 to 4 hours of searching, it was getting dark so I suspended the search and planned on getting out the next morning.

Early the next morning I showed up at low tide and expanded my search into thigh to waist deep water. After about an hour in the water I got a good strong signal, dug out 3 scoops of sand and there was a ring shining up at me through the shells. When I found the ring I wasn’t positive it was the one I was looking for because in my mind, I thought Charles’ ring had diamonds on it. After another 2 hours of searching I went home.

Once I got back home I verified the ring with the pictures I’d received and it was clearly a match. I immediately typed up an e-mail to Candy with pictures of me holding the ring and then I called her. Needless to say she was elated, as well as shocked, that after 2 weeks her husband’s ring was found. I wrapped the ring up with a couple of small shells, as a memento of their honeymoon vacation in North Myrtle Beach and mailed it back to them.

Total search time was between 6 to 7 hours in the choppy Atlantic Ocean.

A note from Candy:

Jim, Thank you for taking your time to find this. That means so much to us. It is great to know that there are still good people out there. You have made our day. Thank you again. Candy M.

The joy of finding and returning someone’s ring and then seeing that happy face with a big smile on it will never get old!

Thank you for reading my blog!!

Lost Friday June 26th 2015  Recovered Monday June 29th 2015

I (Paul) lost my custom wedding ring last Friday at Durrance lake when I was at the waters edge with my son and I was throwing away a piece of fish bait my son had picked up. I only heard the sound of the ring hitting the water and couldn’t tell where it went. Incredibly Don was able to locate it three days later twenty feet from shore in less then ten minutes!

The hunt required my trusty water machine ( J.W. Fishers) and a long handled scoop. Paul had a good idea where he was standing when he lost it but no idea where it landed. I started a grid search and found it in ten minutes on the first pass.

Totally Awesome ring Paul and it was so great to get it back to you.
