Cape Cod – Ring 2 of 3 returned in one day! Wedding band

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

After finding my second ring for return and sitting down at home with a cup of coffee, my wife told me of another call for help finding a lost wedding band. At 6:15 I returned the call, at 7:15 I was entering the water and at 8:15 with flashlights and ball cap lights cutting through the night’s darkness the platinum ring found its way into my scoop.

It was a beautiful blue sky day. Keith was playing with his son in waist deep water when things turned very dark for Keith. His wedding band slipped from his finger into the bay’s water. All the searching did not reveal the ring’s location as is usually the case. In a search for help a call to J&E Enterprise was forward to me. Two hours after the call the platinum ring encircled with Roman Numerals showing the wedding date was no longer lost. Family and friends were all thrilled with the outcome, but not as much as Keith. The return even turned his dark space into a smile as big and beautiful as the waxing moon’s shine.

This return was special to me as it completed a “Hat Trick” – three rings found (a silver, gold and a platinum) and ALL returned in one day! This could not have been done without the help of Eleanor owner of J&E. Thanks to all that have let me help and to those that have passed the information about TheRingFinders along to those in need of help.

Cape Cod – Lost Ring 1 of 3 returned in one day! Yale University

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

It was a breezy, cool, overcast day’s start at a Dennis, MA beach. With no one in the water and only five other people on the beach Meg, the on duty lifeguard had little to watch for. With nothing but time on her hands she started spinning her Yale University 2018 class ring on her finger. Dreaming of the upcoming school year she found herself looking at the ring and OOPS… And as sand through an hour glass her ring fell from the lifeguard’s perch into the sands of the beach. A hurried search and with the help of her sister, the ring did not show itself.

A call to J&E Enterprise for help ended with a call to me. Within 20 minutes I arrived on the beach with metal detector in hand. I listened to the story of the ring’s loss took two swings which covered the small box were the ring was thought to be. Not there, move to the larger box drawn in the sand and another few swings did not produce anything but a bottle cap and pen. I started to enlarge my search area at the leg of the wooden lifeguard’s chair and bingo; there the ring was resting in the shaded section of the sand.

Ring returned, pictures taken and a big hug, AND I thought that was to make my day. That was not to be…read my blog (Cape Cod – Ring 2 of 3 returned in one day!) for my afternoon hunt for a lost wedding band.

Location? Location? Luck! Lead to ring return from West Dennis beach, Cape Cod, MA

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

An E-mail requesting help finding a lost wedding band just needed a lot more information. First there are two Sea Street beaches in Dennis; which one? Then a Google map only shows one jetty, a second one was covered by sand in the display. Google’s visible jetty was highlighted as the area the ring was most likely lost at. Fortunately I asked the right questions, got good “clues” on where to look. But as I started walking to the jetty, I stumbled across the previously sand covered jetty and started searching in that area. I was lucky I did as about 15 feet from the jetty’s point I heard the sound of gold and retrieved Eric’s wedding band. Four days latter the US Postal Service delivered the ring to Eric who was kind enough to send me the attached photos…for this, my 50th posting on TheRingFinders.com.

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Kahala Beach West…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Steve who lives near Diamond Head on Oahu. While his son was throwing a football back to his wife on the shoreline at the beach his platinum wedding band flew off into the water. They searched with goggles for awhile but the incoming surf was too much and buried the ring. This beach is very small and Steve knew the approximate location and the details of the loss. I told him we could meet after work and hunt for his son’s ring. When we arrived Steve demonstrated what had happened and I started my search. It was only about waist deep water at the deep end but the bottom was littered with rocks that kept interfering with my detector’s sweep. I covered the area thoroughly but didn’t find the ring. Steve got a call from his wife and had to leave. There was another ring lost in this area so I decided to continue my grid search. I was seconds into the search when I got a nice tone and there was a platinum ring in my scoop that looked just like the pics Steve had shown me. Luckily he hadn’t gotten all the way down the path and I shouted his name. He turned around and I yelled I think I found your son’s ring. He came back and verified it was the one. Then he said « Joe your the real deal » Thank you very much! He was going to surprise his son and the wife I’m sure it will be a joyous surprise. Aloha to Steve!

Days later we arranged for a search, I came with my trusty Whites MXT and bingo found it. OMG was Colin ever happy to get this very special 18K ring back.

Man’s White Gold Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned at Oak Island, NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

Sunday night I got an e-mail from Daniel G. telling me he had lost his wedding band on the beach at Oak Island, NC the previous Friday. In the e-mail he asked if I would be willing to drive to Oak Island and see if I could find it. I responded saying yes that it’d be no problem and then asked the normal questions – where on the beach, the time he lost it and the ring description.

The next morning Daniel had followed up with his responses as well as calling me. He knew exactly where he had been, what time it was and even down to the number of paces it was from the soft sand into the high tide line. Looking at the current tide tables, I saw I had about 4 hours before high tide so I headed out for the hour drive up there. Once I got to the beach I followed his directions and he couldn’t have been more exact on where it was. On my third grid line, in ankle deep water I got the signal. Two scoops and I had his wedding band in my hand. I took a picture of his ring and sent it to him with a text saying “Bingo”. While I’m standing on the beach waiting for his response, I noticed two ladies walking towards me. They walked up to me and introduced themselves as Daniel’s mother and his Aunt and informed me that Daniel had called them that morning letting them know I was going to be looking for it. They thought they’d come down and watch. I told them I had already found it and had sent Daniel a picture and text and was waiting for his response. Neither one of them could believe I had found it and were really surprised and excited for Daniel. Shortly after Daniel called and was very excited about his ring. He told me to go ahead and give it to his mother, which was good so it didn’t have to be mailed. A great ending to another lost ring story.

Daniel – Thank you for trusting me to find your lost treasure.

Jim

Family heirlooom wedding band set recovered!

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)

This recovery was a bit unique in the ammount of attention it received thanks to social media. I was tagged in a facebook post by a friend of a woman desperatley pleading for assistance recovering a wedding band set that was lost at the beach a few days prior. This facebook post was shared over 12,ooo times, YES 12,000 times! After making contact with the client and getting details I headed up to search for the set. This beach was about two hours from my normal search area but the client was very distraught so I decided to give it a go. I arrived at the beach around 6pm on August 3rd. This beach showed signs of extreme sand mvement, which is never a good sign as targets can be buried and moved along the beach in just one tide passing. After searching for several hours I got a tone I was hoping for and out popped the missing wedding band. I searched for over two more hours for the engagement band but was not able to locate it. Two other fellow Ring Finders were going to search for the second band the next day.  fter four hours of searching they too were unable to locate the missing engagement band. A day later a fourth detectorist offered assistance and it was also noted that several feet of sand had been carried off of the same beach by the previous tide cycle. The fourth detectorist was able to find the engagement band after a hour or so long search in the same area previously searched. BTW: I believe another Ring Finder has been created after he (detectorist #4) got a chance to see the reaction of the client being reuinted with the engagement band.

Beautiful Gold / Diamon Ring RECOVERED!

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)

This recovery also took place August 8th in Ocean City. It took longer to walk onto the beach than it did to find the ring. The client was ecstatic as was her husband.

Clients review of service: « Jeff reassured us from the beginning. He was prompt, could NOT have been more kind, and found my ring in less than 10 minutes!! He is amazing. As a jewelry professional, I can truly appreciate the value of his services, but just as important is his earnest approach to this process. »

Mends Gold wedding band RECOVERED!

  • from Cape May (New Jersey, United States)

Client had lost his white gold band after it slipped out of his cup holder on his beach chair while rinsing it off at the end of the day Tuesday. On Thursday the client and a couple friends rented a detector to attempt to locate the ring themselves. Having no luck on their own, they chose to reach out for assistance. After speaking with Mark I took the short ride up to Ocean City and met with the group. Searched for about an hour and a half with no luck, shortly after everyone had left the beach I ended up snagging the band in the bottom of a ripple trough pool. Another happy couple.

Clients review of service: « So grateful for all of your hard work today! We can now end our vacation on a happy note thanks to you! »
