Estate Search for Gold Krugerrands

I was contacted by a resident in Houston regarding the possibility of buried Gold Krugerrands on his property. The homeowner reported that a family member may have previously buried one or more of the gold coins in a very specific location on the property. The homeowner was also was aware that they may have been removed previously by the same family member.

The homeowner was looking to verify if the coins where in the described location, or if they had previously been removed. The homeowner had taken some measures himself to search for the coins. The homeowner had excavated a large portion of the dirt from the small area in question with no results.

The excavated dirt as well as the area in question was extensively scanned and examined with the CTX 3030 with negative results. I was able to scan the sample coin on the ground, and it came back as a solid 1245, in a combined search mode. This was extremely helpful, although it did not prevent me from digging anything and everything made of metal.

Unfortunately, we didn’t find any additional Gold Krugerrands, but I found the story very interesting, and it’s every treasure hunters dream.

The name of the client and the scene audio in the post has been excluded for obvious reason.

Lost Gold and Diamond Nugget Ring Found Pasadena, Texas

I was contact by Kathleen regarding a lost gold ring in the backyard of her residence. Kathleen said, her boyfriend had been playing water volleyball in the pool when his ring flew off his finger. Kathleen said after an unsuccessful effort at finding the ring, she located « The Ring Finders » online.

I met with Kathleen at her residence this afternoon and was shown the areas needing to be searched. Kathleen believed the ring might have landed in the thick landscaping around the edge of the pool. I searched the grassy outer area of the landscaping first, hoping I would not have to walk in and threw their nice landscaping. The grass area yielded negative results and I moved into the landscaping identifying numerous metal obstruction like landscaping lights, underground wiring and cables.

I had slowly searched the landscaping area twice and was at the far end of the pool in a smaller patch of landscaping when I hit a solid signal. I lifted up the vegetation and saw the ring sitting right on top of the brown mulch. There was no missing it.

Lost 70 Year Old Wedding Ring Found in the Heights-Houston Texas

I was contacted by Buddy and Sandy of Houston regarding Buddy’s lost wedding band. Sandy said her husband had been doing some yard work (digging) when he lost his wedding band in their backyard.

Sandy said the wedding band had strong sentimental value, explaining the wedding ring had belonged to her father, and when she married Buddy it became his Wedding Band-Ring.

I met with Buddy and Sandy at their residence and was shown the area needing to be searched. Buddy said he had been checking the homes sewer pipe after a large tree had been removed from the backyard. Buddy said he was concerned the homes sewer pipe might have been damaged after the removal of a large tree. Buddy said he dug down approximately two foot to examine the sewer the pipe determining it had not been damaged. Buddy said,  he later realized his wedding ring was missing after he had completed the inspection of the sewer pipe.

That was a little concerning, but as it turned out the ring was found on the surface a few yards from where Buddy had been digging.

White gold earring lost in Centennial, Colorado – Returned

Alexis was playing volleyball with her family and friends in her sister’s yard when her earring got caught in the net and flung into the yard. Luckily one of her opponents had seen the earring get launched but did not see exactly where it ended up. The volleyball game halted and the search for the lost earring began but luck was not with them as the earring remained hidden in the long grass. Alexis’ sister, Stephanie, found me through The Ring Finders and contacted me about searching for this precious lost item. We made arrangements for a search on a Thursday evening.

Upon arrival Stephanie explained how the earring was lost and showed me the location that Alexis was in (marked by a couple of tent stakes). I tested the remaining earring on my V3i in several programs before I found a program that would respond to such a small bit of metal. I began my search in the area of the tent stakes and found no earring so I expanded my search area. Within a couple of minutes I received a signal similar to that of my test target. As I parted the grass I could see the shape and color of the lost earring, I looked up at Stephanie and said « I found the match to that earring ». We called up Alexis and let her know that the earring had been found, she was quite happy. About 15 minutes later there was Alexis ready to get her pair of earrings back.

Diamond ring found on Pismo Beach 5th of July

July 4, 2015 three in the afternoon, I was getting ready to start the Bar-BQ and had the fireworks on display so all the neighborhood kids could see what was going to happen at dark. We throw a  4th July party in our cul-de-sac, it has become a very big party and yearly tradition, this was no exception.

The phone rang and a soft hesitant voice asked, « Is this the ring finder? » to which I replied « yes, how may I help you? » Then it all came out, her name was Trisha and she with her family had been on the beach south of the Pismo Beach pier where she had lost her wedding ring. She had looked for it in vain, even took pictures of the area’s land marks with her cell phone so they could come back and search if they did not fine it that afternoon. When Trisha informed her father-in-law of her loss a light went off…he had remembered seeing my Isuzu trooper that I advertize « The Ring Finders » on while at the beach and gave her my number, that is how she found me and my services.

I explained to her there was no way I could go right then due to the 4th of July block party I was in charge of and on top of that Pismo Beach would be imposable to get on to that afternoon due to the big fireworks show Pismo shoots off the pier every 4th of July evening. There were traffic jams for miles in every direction on all the roads into and out of Pismo Beach, plus there would be no place to even park even if I could get there.  I try and stay away until the 5th then I hunt the beach for the lost treasures.

Trisha told me the general area where she thought the 1.3 ct diamond ring was lost and I knew there would be no one in that particular area hunting during the night. The 4th of July is a big deal for many of the local detectors who come out on that night and hunt around the pier area where the most people are located during the show. Pismo Beach has anywhere from 20,000 to 30,000 people show up for their great fireworks show. Since Trisha had lost her ring more than a mile from the area of the most people I felt it would be safe for the night and that I would meet her and her husband Nate at 6 am the next morning to see if I could locate the lost ring.

It was a cool, wet, foggy morning as I pulled up to the arranged meeting area and donned my hunting gear, Trisha and Nate showed up right on time and after explaining how I work we set out. Walking down the stairs off the wooden boardwalk and on to the dry sand of the beach, Nate told me they had walked a few hundred yards up the beach north of the lifeguard station in the dry sand, then put up a sun shade for the day. Trisha explained she had not gone into the water and basically just walked to the area then back with one trip on the wet sand to the surf  in a straight line, but did not get her hands wet and had not been doing any strenuous activities like Frisbee that afternoon.  By mid afternoon they decide to leave the beach, it was when they had gotten back their car that Trisha discovered her wedding ring was missing, she immediately retraced her steps from the parking lot to the board walk to no avail, then back to the beach to search the area where they had been, taking pictures for later reference.

I started the search at the stairs while having them walk the same rout they had traveled to the area where they had been, I walked behind them, all the while searching. Once we matched up the picture to the exact area I had Nate mark out the perimeter of general area that they had been in, then I drew out a 3X larger area and started my grid search. About 15 minutes later I was seven steps from the center of the area Nate had marked and had a hit that screamed in my headphones, I knew that had to be it and yep a 1.3 round diamond solitaire in a fat platinum setting was sparkling in the bottom of my scoop. I yelled at Trisha with a smile on my face and while holding it up asked her if this was her ring….all she could do was cry and smile while shaking her head yes, I think Nate might have gotten a few grains of sand in his eyes too.

Lost Man’s Gold Wedding Band – Recovered and Returned in North Myrtle Beach, SC

I received an e-mail from Candy on June 22nd stating that her and her husband Charles, had been in North Myrtle Beach on their honeymoon.  He had lost his gold with diamond cut silver lining wedding band in the ocean in about waist deep water. She gave me a general idea of where it was lost and the hotel they were staying at as a reference.

I had a strong feeling this was going to be a tough hunt as it was. To complicate matters, the ring was lost ten days earlier on June 12th (one day after their wedding), I was currently out of town on vacation and Candy and Charles were back home. I contacted my counterpart, Matt Fry in Myrtle Beach, and asked him if he’d contact Candy and see if he could help her.  He did, and he also got a couple of pictures of the ring, but due to work obligations he wasn’t able to do an immediate search.

I returned home from vacation two days later and contacted Matt for an update on the ring. He said he wasn’t able to search and sent me the pictures. The following evening I hit the beach at low tide and started the search without a more definitive area to search. After 3 to 4 hours of searching, it was getting dark so I suspended the search and planned on getting out the next morning.

Early the next morning I showed up at low tide and expanded my search into thigh to waist deep water. After about an hour in the water I got a good strong signal, dug out 3 scoops of sand and there was a ring shining up at me through the shells. When I found the ring I wasn’t positive it was the one I was looking for because in my mind, I thought Charles’ ring had diamonds on it. After another 2 hours of searching I went home.

Once I got back home I verified the ring with the pictures I’d received and it was clearly a match. I immediately typed up an e-mail to Candy with pictures of me holding the ring and then I called her. Needless to say she was elated, as well as shocked, that after 2 weeks her husband’s ring was found. I wrapped the ring up with a couple of small shells, as a memento of their honeymoon vacation in North Myrtle Beach and mailed it back to them.

Total search time was between 6 to 7 hours in the choppy Atlantic Ocean.

Lost Wedding Ring Lost At Garneau Volleyball Court Edmonton.

Azhar called me yesterday around 5:40 pm wondering if I would be able to help him find his lost wedding ring which he had lost the other day at The Garneau Beach Volleyball Club. He explained to me that he had rented a metal detector and spent all day looking with no luck.

I met Azhar at the court and he explained to me that this was the second wedding ring he had lost, The first was while he was fishing in the middle of a lake. I told him that if his ring was in the court I would find it for him.

Azhar showed me the Garrett Ace 250 he was using to search the sand court. I told him that unit should have picked his ring up with no problem in the hand of an experience operator which he said that’s why he called me. He also told me he found lots of stuff in the three inside courts which gave me a clue to start my hunt from the first court and work my way along the outside of the court perimeter. Within 30 minutes I received a good signal at the end of the court away from where Azhar had initially looked, and now the ring is back on his finger another happy client. Thank you Azhar for intrusting me and the Ringfinders to locate your lost ring.

Lost White Gold Wedding Ring recovered in Falls Lake Beaver Dam swim area, in Wake Forest N.C. on 6/26/15..

I recovered this Lost gold wedding  ring on 6/26/15 for nice young lady who lost it while swimming with her kids.  She explained that she lost her ring a few days earlier while she was playing with her kids in the water.  It appears that before she entered the water she was putting lotion on her and the kids and when she got in the water, the combination of the lotion and the water caused the ring to slip off her finger.  The ring was recovered in about 3 feet of water.. Here are some photos of the ring . It was a pleasure to help her out but the sad part is my detector developed a leak during the search which caused it to short out and break just after I found her ring. Atleast i was able to find her ring before it broke, I’m glad about that..

Lost Rubies & Diamonds Gold Ring at Kuhio Beach Park Waikiki…..FOUND!!!

My fellow ring finder Don Bryant called and said a lady named Soraya had lost her ring at Kuhio Beach Park and that he was still unpacking from his trip so he referred her to me. As soon as I hung up the call came in. Soraya explained to me that she had lost the ring the evening before as she was playing with her children in waist deep water. Don & I both told her that Sergei the Russian detectorist that cruises the beaches every morning could very well of found it and our probability of finding her ring was very low. I told Soraya that I would give it a shot and could be there in 30 minutes. We met at the pier and she walked me to the area she was playing in the water. We marked an extreme East & West point and I started my search. It only took about 30 minutes and all I found was a Memorial cent and half a pull tab in the wet sand. I told Soraya the water was sterile of any metal and to look at her markers and asked if I had to go out one of the markers should I go more East or West. She looked towards shore and said I think a little more towards the Church which is to the West. I continued on and then on the third leg outside the original marker I got the « Growl of Gold and Stones ». A gentle scoop and there was the gorgeous White Gold ring with rubies and diamonds. I looked up and Soraya was no where to be seen. I’m thinking did she give up on me? I happened to spot her son playing in the water and asked him where his Mom was…she had gone up on the beach where I couldn’t see her. I told him to tell her I think I found her ring. Her daughter came running down and said let me see…let me see. Oh yes that’s my Mom’s ring! Soraya arrived and I held the ring out in the palm of my hand. That’s it how amazing…where actually was it? Actually it was in a lot closer to the beach then she imagined it would be. We figured she was playing during high tide and didn’t realize how close to shore she had been. I’m so glad we extended the search in the correct direction and Sergei missed this one. Chalk one up for « The Ring Finders » Aloha to Soraya.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki……FOUND!

I got a call from Ken while at work and he wanted to know if I could look for his ring at Hilton Hawaiian Village. He lost the ring two days prior and that area is one of the most detected areas in Waikiki. My fear was someone already found it and he would never get it back. The surf has been pounding the South shore so there was a chance the regular Waikiki detectorists might have been taking a break. I told Ken I would meet him after work and give it my best shot. We met at 4PM on the beach and I was elated to find out Ken had lost his ring in the rocky area of the beach. That area is very difficult to detect in as there are many large coral rocks and most of the detectorists avoid it. Ken explained that he was in no deeper than 4 feet of water and between two coral outcroppings on the shoreline. So I went to work. Unfortunately I only found coins, pull tabs and a bottle cap. I asked Ken lets think this over where did you spend the most time? He said probably in the sandy area near the wave break where he was getting thrown around. I said OK I’m going to concentrate there and not go into the rocky area. An hour had already passed and I could see the anxiety on their faces. I needed to find this ring. I started a wave curl search as the surf was pounding the shore. On the return leg a little farther into the sand at the half point between Ken’s marks I got that beautiful « GOLD » tone. After two scoops I saw a ring. I motioned Ken over and asked him to describe the ring again please. White gold with two rose colored bands going through it he said. Sure enough that is what was in my scoop. I pulled the ring out and handed it to Ken. You know that look we treasure so much well Ken was beaming with joy that I finally found his ring. I found out from talking to Ken and his lovely wife Malette that they had just gotten married and only had the ring for a day when it was lost. What a happy ending to a wonderful vacation in Hawaii.
