Lost wedding ring in Ocean, St Augustine, Florida….Found!

Mellisa and her husband were enjoying a beautiful day at the beach and while walking their two large dogs the unexpected happened! As they were splashing water on the two dogs in the ankle deep surf, Ian actually felt his ring come off of his finger but he did not have any idea where it landed. All he remembered was how deep the water was and that it happened around 3:30 in the afternoon. Plus they figured they were « in front off » a certain hotel during their play time with their dogs.

When Mellisa called me and asked for my help I knew it was important to get out and search ASAP and since I already had plans for the evening I encouraged her to contact one of the members of theringfinders in the St. Augustine area. And thankfully she was able to talk to Barbara who passed her request on to a friend named Dick who enjoys helping with beach searches. Dick was able to meet Ian and Mellisa and looked for an hour and a half but did not find Ian’s lost wedding ring. The couple had to leave back to Georgia and Dick was planning to come back in a day or two to look again. And it just so happened that I got a call from someone in the Jacksonville area so I decided to stop by the beach and help Barbara and Dick look. When I arrived they were both swinging their metal detectors and had basically covered all the logical areas where Ian said they were while splashing their dogs. He had previously indicated that he was in ankle deep water just after high tide so that would have put them up on the wet sand. We spent another good 90 minutes and Dick thought maybe he would wander down towards the waters edge and detect some and BANG… he got a solid signal and was totally surprised to see a chunky man’s yellow gold ring in his scoop! Could it possibly be Ian’s lost wedding ring?!! He called me over to have a look and I was shocked how far towards the water the ring was. Come to find out the beach had a first sand bar that would have separated two places where Ian could have actually been in ankle deep water during the time he indicated–so I learned something new that day that will help me in future searches!

It was great to meet Barbara from St. Augustine and Dick who loves to metal detect and they both enjoy looking for and returning lost rings to their rightful owners! Two very wonderful people who share the same passion and hobby that I myself do!

Lost earbud in the grass, Sanford, Florida….Found!

Stephanie was out with her two small children and while watching them play she was unaware that one of. her earbuds fell out of her ear. After getting the children back into the house she felt her ear and realized the one was missing. Thinking it must have popped out while picking up her young son she began retracing her steps and thought surely she would find it as it was black and would show up rather easily on the sidewalk or even in the grass.

Two days passed and her husband remembered that I help people find their lost items using a metal detector so he sent me a message asking if I could help them. I showed up 15 minutes later and asked for Stephanie’s other earbud to see if I could get a reading and sure enough it gave a faint signal in the « All Metal Mode ». After searching for 20 minutes I got a quiet signal and there, down in the grass, was Stephanie’s lost earbud…barely visible! Stephanie was so happy to have it back and the big smile tells it all!

Lost wedding ring in Fairview Lake, Orlando, Florida….Found with a metal detector!

Peyton and his wife were enjoying a beautiful sunny day on Fairview Lake and as he jumped off of his boat and into the shallow water he felt his gold wedding ring slip off of his finger. After 27 years of marriage and having already lost one of his wedding rings years ago he was stunned that here it was happening again. After feeling around in the sand and mud he gave up and decided to come back and look for it again with a mask and hookah dive system and a small hand held waterproof metal detector. He also was able to mark the area where he was anchored on his boats GPS system making it much easier to pinpoint the exact area, which is so, so important!

Peyton returned the next day and searched for a couple of hours but was unsuccessful in finding his lost gold ring. Later that evening as he was searching on line to buy a full size waterproof metal detector he came across theringfinders.com web site and found my name. We made arrangements to meet later on that day and I figured if he marked the area it would make the ring much easier to locate. Peyton was waiting in his boat when I arrived and as soon as I loaded all my gear we were off to the other side of the lake. There was a fairly stiff breeze and after getting the anchors set I jumped into the water and with Peyton guiding me I placed four PVC poles around the area where he figured he lost his ring. Usually a large gold ring will give me certain numbers on my waterproof Garrett AT Max metal detector so I concentrated on any signal that read even close to those numbers. I dug a number of nickels, pull tabs and other assorted targets and as I was coming close to finishing up the 2500 square foot area I asked Peyton to think about what direction to expand my search area….and he felt confident it was in the general area that I was finishing up. And sure enough as I was on my last grid line I got a clean, solid, mid-tone signal and as I dumped out my scoop onto my floating sifter…there shining bright and beautiful in the evening sun was Peyton’s lost gold wedding ring! How I thank God for allowing me to find and return Peyton’s lost ring and to be a part of seeing such joy and relief on his face. And thank you Peyton for calling me and for giving me that opportunity!

Maybe you have lost something precious and valuable and need my help?!! Call or text me ASAP!

Lost diamond engagement ring in sand, Lake Buena Vista, Fl….Found with metal detector!

Mike and his young family were spending an awesome time at one of the Disney Resorts and while enjoying one of the sandy beach areas with their two children Mike’s wife felt her diamond ring slip off of her finger! Normally one can find their ring when they know and feel it come off and it lands on a hard surface but when it drops into soft sand, well…that is another story! Mike immediately began to run his fingers through the sand thinking surely he would feel the ring and put his dear wife’s mind at ease, but again in soft, fluffy sand that can be a big problem. Gold rings have an uncanny way of just sinking further down into the sand and the more one rakes or runs their fingers through the soft sand the further the ring disappears! Engagement rings are usually very expensive and a pain to replace and loosing this ring was affecting their vacation time. Mike tried asking the resort management if there was anyone who could help and when that did not lead to the help they needed he went online and found theringfinders.com. He first called another Ring Finder named Steve Thomas who at the time was up in Texas welcoming a new grand baby to their family–so Mr. Steve gave Mike my number. After getting the proper permission I met Mike at the resort and we walked out onto the newly raked sand and Mike indicated the area where the ring was lost. I set out four corner flags and started my tight grid search. I found a few coins and some small aluminum foil pieces and of course each time I would dig and retrieve a target Mike’s hopes and adrenalin would go up! After 15 minutes I got a good solid repeatable gold signal and uncovered the lost diamond engagement ring! What an honor and privilege it was to help Mike and his family and to give them a wonderful reason to now enjoy the rest of their Florida vacation! It never gets old….helping reunite people with their lost treasures!

Lost engagement ring and wedding ring in grass, Longwood, Florida….Found!

Mrs Patty was engaged back in 1972 and received a simple but beautiful diamond ring! Twenty years later she added two more diamonds to her engagement ring, one from her deceased mother’s ring and the other diamond came from her late grand mother’s engagement ring! Fast forward 30 years and as Patty was pulling some trash bins around her house to set on the curb for the next days pick up she noticed that her rings were not on her finger. Figuring they must have come off somehow while tugging on the garbage bins she began searching the grass and leaves along the path she had taken. She even went out later that night with a strong flashlight hoping to catch a glimpse of the gold or by some slim chance see a sparkle from one of the three diamonds. But she got more discouraged as she realized that it would be next to impossible to find them without the help of a metal detector. Later that evening she went on line and searched for « Metal detector rental » and one of the links that came up was www.theringfinders.com.

I am so very thankful to have numerous opportunities to help people find their lost rings! It is an honor to meet and listen to each person’s story about what it is that they lost and what the item means to them. Most often it is a wedding ring or engagement ring that has been dropped, lost or even thrown and to see and hear the pain and distress brought on by such an event…spurs me on to do whatever I can to relieve that stress and grief and bring back the joy that is missing in their lives.

I began searching along the paths that Patty indicated she had taken and had almost covered the front yard. Before heading to the side of the house I decided to go up along the driveway, even though she did not indicate she had walked that way. Halfway up I received a strong signal and could barely see part of what looked like a ring and it was tilted in the grass making it difficult to see what I thought looked like some diamonds. I called to Mrs Patty and she came a running with a big smile on her face. I encouraged her that if one of her rings dropped there it was very likely that the wedding ring was close by. I swept the area again thinking surely I would get a signal but nothing. I went up to the sidewalk and came back covering the same area and as I approached the exact spot where the diamond ring was resting I glanced out onto the concrete driveway and guess what I spotted…just lying in plain sight? There was Mrs Patty’s wedding ring…and again I called her to come see what else I had just found! She could hardly believe that it had been there all along…hiding in plain sight!
It was an honor to help Mrs Patty and to know that one day her rings will be passed on to another generation to enjoy and cherish!

Lost ring in the grass, Winter Park, Florida….Found!

Dave’s lost and found ring story began on January 17th, 2022, after some very cold and windy weather! Here in Florida we have allot of Spanish moss that grows on many of our trees and high winds will occasionally knock clumps of it off and leave the ground covered in small piles that need to be picked up. Being as it was cooler and a bit wet Dave could feel that his ring was a bit looser than normal but he wanted to clear the debris off of his yard before it got dark. As he zig zagged across the grass gathering handfuls of moss and sticks he would then walk to the edge of his yard and toss them into the woods. Later that evening he noticed his wedding ring was not on his finger and thinking back on what probably happened…he was almost positive it must have come off while clearing his yard! So the next day he began looking for his ring and it soon dawned on him how extremely difficult it would be to actually spot it in the leaves and grass. He realized he needed the help of someone with a metal detector and that led him to « Theringfinders.com »!

I met Dave a few days later and he showed me where he walked and we realized he basically covered his whole yard…and he has a very large and beautiful back yard! I first concentrated on the areas where he threw the debris and then checked the shallow water of the lake. That took a good hour and a half and then darkness fell. I said my goodbyes and reassured Dave I would be back to start systematically covering the yard. So I returned a few days later with my Garrett ATMax metal detector and switched to my large coil and began a tight grid search pattern. Two hours later it got dark and again I had to give up. Again I told Dave I would be back again in a week or so. Two weeks passed and I met Dave for a third try—hoping and praying that God would allow me to find Dave’s lost 20 year old wedding ring! I only had a quarter of the yard left to search and 15 minutes into my grid search I got a sharp, shallow signal and using my pin pointer I got that solid, beautiful, steady beep that we all love to hear…and there to my surprise was Dave’s lost wedding ring, just sitting there in the grass…perfectly camouflaged! I went around the house to tell Dave to come see what I had found, and you can imagine how happy he was to have his ring back again!

Lost thrown ring, Orlando, Florida…..found and mailed to owner!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

This young couple was enjoying a night on the town and decided to call an Uber to help them get safely back to their hotel. Their ride dropped them off a few hundred yards from their hotel and as they walked they talked!! I am not exactly sure what the topic of conversation was but I do know that during their walk along the quiet street Mr. John Doe got very upset and took off his wedding ring and with a back handed throw sent his ring sailing into the street and the ping could be heard and then silence!

It didn’t take long for Mr John Doe to realize the error of his way and later that evening he returned with his phone and tried desperately to find his ring. But after a couple of hours of searching the street, the grass and even in the bushes he decided to look online for some help and typed in « Metal Detecting Service Orlando »! The first result was « Theringfinders.com » and as he checked out the « Directory » he noticed my name and all the successful recoveries and decided to give me a call. So we met later that day and « John » showed me where he thought he was when he threw his ring. At first I thought that it would be a fairly easy search but an hour and a half later I was beginning to have second thoughts. I expanded the search area by 30 feet on either side and still no ring. It was getting late and « John » was planning on starting their drive north that same day…so I assured him that I would come back later in the week to look some more. He was very happy to hear that and then we parted ways.

The next weekend I returned and decided to look even further along the street, searching the bushes and the 8 foot grass strip along the street. At one point I was a good 45 yards away from the area where « John » said he threw his ring and while I was swinging my detector along the curb and over onto the grass, I glanced out onto the street and low and behold there was the young man’s ring…just laying in the street. I could not believe my eyes and was so, so thankful to see it just sitting there untouched and not a scratch on it. I made a quick little video with my phone and sent it to the owner and he was thrilled that I actually found it! And a couple of days later it was mailed off to « John » and so the story continues!

Lost wedding ring in the grass, Orlando, Florida….Found and Returned to owner!

I received a call from Scott asking if I could help find his lost wedding ring in his front yard! I asked him the usual questions like…When did he lose it? How did it happen? and Did he have a good idea of the exact area where he lost it? And all of the answers that Scott gave me indicated that his lost wedding ring should not be very difficult to find.

Armed with that information and my trusty Garrett, ATMax metal detector I headed for Orlando with high hopes. Made me think of how many people have lost rings, earrings and necklaces while playing with their favorite pet! Sometimes they are able to find their lost item and at other times the grass or sand swallows their personal treasure, never to be seen again.

Scott on the other hand was very sure of the exact spot where he was when he felt his ring come off. So I began my grid search just wide of the area he indicated and it took only 5 minutes to get the solid, shallow signal I was looking for. And Scott was thrilled to get his lost wedding ring back and I was honored and thankful to have been given the opportunity to help him!

Lost something recently or years ago…maybe I can help. Call, leave a message or text me ASAP! I would be honored to help you.

Lost wedding ring in ocean during honeymoon, Flagler Beach, Fl….Found and returned to very happy owner!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

Here is Sunshines story! « Hello my name is Sunshine. On Saturday September 25th I married the love of my life and best friend, Victor! We came to Flagler Beach, Florida to enjoy the weekend at Island Cottage Inn. We were having the time of our lives, walking the beach, enjoying our room and everything beautiful Flagler Beach has to offer. On Sunday evening about 5:30pm I talked my husband into taking a dip in the ocean. The current was strong and the waves were tall and as we walked out into the ocean we were laughing and diving under the waves as they rolled in. A stronger wave came in and caught me off guard and I was pulled under. My husband went to reach for me and after we were both ok he realized he was no longer wearing his wedding ring. We searched the beach frantically. I was crying, praying to the Lord that He would just wash it up on the shore. When my husband sat down in the sand holding his head I knew I had to hug him and assure him it was ok and let him know a ring could be replaced and our love is strong and not to let the devil steal our joy. We walked back to our room no longer wanting to go out to eat because we were both sick to our stomachs. I began searching our extended warranty for Kays jewelry and « Lost or Stolen Rings » were not a part of our plan. So I searched the « Possibility of finding a ring in the ocean » when I came across « theringfinders.com » and gave Mike a call. He was very professional and answered in just a few rings and said he would come out to our Inn and help us. That night after speaking to Mike my husband and I searched the piles of seaweed along the shore continuing to pray over the ring and the ocean and the man who was gonna drive over a hundred miles to help us. Mike met us at 6:45am the next morning and put on his gear and started into the ocean. As I watched the sun come up I took some amazing photos and videos and in the sunrise appeared a cross shining through the sun as though God was lighting the path for him to search the ocean. We began getting anxious because large waves were coming in making it difficult to even stand and we walked back to our room. About an hour had passed and at 8:08am Mike messaged us and told us to come down to the beach. He had me going at first thinking he had to cover more ground when all of a sudden he revealed he had found the ring! Tears of joy and happiness streamed down my face and I hugged him and thanked him for what he did. Without God and this man our wedding ring would still be in the ocean …a horrible thing to remember about our honeymoon! God heard the cries of our hearts and we are forever grateful for Mike and all the Lords blessings. I would highly recommend him to anyone! Thank you so much Mike! »

Lost wallet in the water, Atlantic Ocean, Daytona Beach….Found and Returned to owner!

  • from Sanford (Florida, United States)

While searching for a lost silver cross and chain for a young man from Wisconsin, I dug up someones wallet in the knee deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean. That’s not something we find very often and from the looks and condition of the wallet and the contents inside I could tell it had been there for a couple of months, at least. I never did find the silver cross but who knows it may show up yet! Plus that very same day I eyeballed a really nice lady’s diamond ring that is waiting to be reunited with its rightful owner. So after I got home and got myself and my gear all cleaned up I took out the wallet I had found and started going through the contents. First off it had a flat magnet and a flat metal plate sewn inside the wallet that helped keep it in the closed position. And it was those two pieces of metal that helped me find the wallet under all that sand. It contained three credit cards, one Florida Resident fishing license, a drivers license and 52 dollars in bills. Not a bad score for a day at the beach!

Later that evening I did a little investigation on line and found the owner of the wallets family and gave them a call. A few days later the wallet and all the contents were put in an envelope and mailed off to Jacksonville, Florida and here is the response that Coby sent me a week later.

« Hi Mike, I wanted to say thank you so much for sending my wallet, cards and cash back to me in one piece! Although the cards are no longer useful, it is great to have my ID and especially the cash again. My sister Rachel (with me in the picture) told me you washed, dried and ironed it! I appreciate what you do for people and as a Christian man myself, I thank God for people like you! You do the world a service unlike no other and people like you make the world go ’round’! Please let me know if you ever need anything from me. I am truly in your debt and thankful to you and the Lord for this reunion! Take good care of yourself and keep up the wonderful work! PS Here is a picture of myself and my sister Rachel with the items you sent to me. God Bless–Coby »
