Jared sent me a contact asking if I would be able to help find his lost wedding ring. I posed a few questions regarding the loss, and wondered if he was still at the site. He told me he lived in a city 50 miles away, so I figured not. It was already dark, but I told him I would go and do a search for him if he were able to pin point the area he thought the ring was lost. He thought about doing it the next day, but I explained how time would work against a successful recovery, so he gave me guidance to the area.

I arrived at the area, and made my way down to the pinned spot he had shown me in a satellite image. I marked the area and began a grid larger than he had shown to insure nothing was missed. I went pass after pass digging every tone to be sure. I found numerous pieces of trash metal, some with promising signals, but no ring. Then about 30 feet off the mark I received a good strong signal, dug, and had his ring. I took a picture, and told him I found it. I was in the process of writing to find out when I would be able to make the return when Jared told me that he and his wife were having dinner just 5 miles up the road on my way home. I let him know that I would meet him in the parking lot, and was on my way. When I got there he was outside waiting in disbelief that this all happened to get his ring back, and he told me he had only been married 2 months. How exciting is that!

Luna called. She had lost her promise ring right at the water’s edge at the beach the day before, and was wondering if I could help her. I let her know that I would meet her there at her earliest convenience, so we arranged a time to meet.

I got to the beach, and found Luna very quickly because there were very few people there. There were a couple of areas, and a stretch sand to cover. I searched each spot she showed me, and then worked on the stretch of sand. I made pass after pass finding a few trash metal pieces, and then got a nice faint signal in the head phones. I put my scoop in, and pulled out a delicate small ring which turned out to be the one we were looking for. She was very happy to have it back.

I received a contact from Chaz in the evening. He had lost his car keys, to his classic 68 Camaro in the sand at the beach, and was stuck in the State parking lot that was due to close soon. I was able to leave right away to go help him.

When I got there Chaz met me, and showed me where the keys should be, and I began my search. It was a short lived search, finding his keys within minutes. He was relieved to have them in order to get out of the parking lot and home that night. Happy to have helped, and he did have a real nice car.

Surfer Hides Car Keys in Sand .. Then Can’t Find Keys .. Huntington Beach, CA .. Found with Metal Detector

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

I was on the beach practicing with a new detector that I purchased for finding small metallic items. A nice day on the beach except for Josh who came running up to me with a distressed look on his face. I asked him, what did you lose. He replied, my only set of car keys.
He had buried his keys under his towel while he went surfing. When we walked a couple blocks back to where his towel was, his friends had dug down throwing sand in piles everywhere. I did a quick search of the piles then a little higher on the slope. One foot above where they searched by hand I got a strong signal scooping up his keys. We think the towel may have been moved by someone or the wind.
The main thing was Josh was a happy surfer who didn’t have to call a tow truck or locksmith to help him get home. I’m pleased to be able to help him with a little bit of my time and my experience of using my metal detector on the beach. I had the opportunity to tell Josh about TheRingFinders.com asking him to share with his friends and social media.. More people need to know that this service exists. I love being able to help people.
