Maria contacted me concerning the loss of her engagement and wedding rings. She had given them to her daughter for her marriage, and she went to the beach a few days after. Her daughter had put the rings in her shorts for « safe keeping », but at the end of the day, they were gone. Maria and her family spent hours trying to find the set, but were unable to. She contacted me the day after, which gave me a bit of reservation when talking about a recovery knowing that this beach is not only cleaned by machines on a daily basis, but also heavily metal detected. She would not be able to meet me there, but told me where the loss occurred, and sent a video showing the area. I was on my way.

When I got to the area, the first thing I noticed was that the machines had not gone through in the morning which increased my hope, and I sent this information to Maria. I needed a bit more clarification on the location, and we sent text back and forth until I felt I knew where to start searching. My daughter lost her wedding rings at Huntington Beach Monday night. We dug for over 4 hours with no luck. Upon arriving at the lifeguard station where the rings were last seen, Mr. Smith found the rings in 11 minutes. I can’t begin to put into words all the motions that engulfed me as soon as I saw the text: « I found your rings » with the subsequent pictures of the actual rings in the sand. I received a text from Chloe for help in finding her husband’s lost wedding ring. They had been at the beach 2 days prior when it was lost. I know the beach is cleaned with machines daily, and asked some pertinent questions to determine the possibility of a recovery. After her answers to my questions about the area of the loss, I told them it would definitely be worth a try, but that it might not be there for a variety of reasons, but to keep the hope alive. We decided to meet at the lowest tide of the day.

I got there before they did, and waited for them to show me where the loss occurred. When they arrived I met Chloe’s husband Matt, and they took me down to the area of where they believed they had lost the ring. Matt was pretty sure of the spot, and drew a line in the sand to show me where he believed it was lost. I began my search just to the north of his line and ran a line down to the water, and then began to work the grid back up the slope. There were no signals at all, and then a solid signal in the headphones. I dug, shook my scoop, and there in bottom was Matt’s ring, after 2 days in a prime location; Awesome! They were so happy to have it back when Chloe told me the story about the ring, that it was Matt’s Grandfather’s, and then his Dad’s. His Dad gifted it to him when Matt and Chloe got married not even a year earlier. What a special find!

I received a desperate call from Vanessa who needed to find a ring that was lost in the sand at the beach. I was able to let her know that I was immediately available, so we arranged for me to come at once to do the search.

I got to the beach where I found Vanessa, her husband Angel, and friends. It was her husband’s ring that was lost, and he proceeded to show me all the possibilities of where it could have dropped. I began a grid to insure I covered every inch of sand. I began at the most likely area, and then began to move into the other areas he had been. I made about 5 lines when I got a real good signal, but only a pull tab, and then a bottle cap. A couple of more grid lines, and another good signal; scoop in, gold ring out. Angel saw the ring bouncing around in the scoop, and came over in a hurry. I pulled it out and handed it to him, and everyone cheered. It was then that I found out that Angel and Vanessa had only been married for 3 days, and I thought; « Oh my What a Relief! » Anyway, it was great to be able to help them on this occasion.

Nick contacted me to see if I would be available to do a search for his gold chain he had lost earlier that day. It was an item that had very strong religious significance for him. He was sure it was lost on the beach, but he had left for the day, and was unable to go back. He was able to give me very good coordinates for the area of the loss, so I told him I would go that night knowing that in the morning the County beach sifters would be cleaning everything in their way.

I got to the spot and lined up the best I could, and began my grid. I covered all of the area without the chain showing up, but I know that a chain is a difficult item to find with a detector, So I started a cross grid over the previous searched area. While doing my cross grid I received a faint signal, dug, and found Nick’s chain. I felt pretty good finding this, because it was a fine link chain. I let Nick know that I found it, and we arranged to meet at a local park the next day so I could get it back to him.

Just a few short weeks ago I helped James recover his ring lost in a garden. Well I was surprised when he called me again to let me know he lost his ring again at another house he was doing some gardening at. He had been pulling some tall weeds out of the garden, then putting them into the waste container when he noticed his ring was gone again. I told him I was on my way.

I met James at the new place, and he took me back to show me the area where he was working. He explained all that he had done earlier, and showed me where I should look. I searched all of the area he had worked in, but the ring was not there. he then emptied the full waste container on the driveway and proceeded to spread the weeds out for me to scan with my detector. I worked a couple of piles with no success. While James was spreading out another bunch of weeds I scanned over the clump that remained and got a good signal. I put in my pin pointer, and within seconds had James’ ring in my hand. It had actually come off in the waste container, and would have been gone forever had we not done this search. I was contacted by Deborah about the loss of her husband’s wedding ring. He was with her in the back yard the day before and was explaining how loose it was on his finger, and to show her, he walked out on the grass and flicked his hand in a downward motion. In a second the ring came off just as he expected but disappeared in the grass. They searched for hours to find it but were unable to locate it. Erin contacted me hoping I could help her. It was later in the evening and she had lost her wedding and engagement rings while at the beach earlier in the day. She and her family were unable to find them and seemed to have lost a bit of hope until they found my site. I let them know that even though it was late, I would meet them at the beach for a search, to which they agreed, and I was on my way.

Erin and her father-in-law met me at the area of the loss and showed me what had happened. I figured I did not hear it on the first pass because it had « parachuted » into the sand and was vertical and turned so that it would only sound to a particular direction. Leonard called because he had lost his silver ring in his yard while throwing a ball to his dogs. It was a special gift from a friend, so it had a certain sentimental value for him. We arranged a time for me to do the search, and I went to help him in the recovery.

When I got there Leonard took me into the backyard where he showed me where the loss took place. There were a couple of planters and some bushes lining a grassy area, and not too far from the side of the area was a short fence that divided the yard from a brushy hillside. I began with the most likely area first in front of where he made the throw. Not finding the ring I began to work my way out of what would have been the line of the throw into the bushes and planters out to where the ball ended up; still no ring. I was sure hoping it did not go over the fence into the hillside brush. Before I started looking over the fence, I began to work the bushes behind the throwing point, and off to the side of where he had been standing. When sweeping under one of the bushes I got a good signal, lifted to branches, and there it was. I lifted it up to show them, and they showed such surprise that it had ended up there. I believe that « Out of the Box » thinking is what makes The Ring Finders so successful. Sometimes it just isn’t where you think it is. So glad to be a help that day.

Meredith contacted me regarding an engagement ring she lost the night before at the Griffith Park Haunted Hayride. She had been there with her fiancé when after the ride was over she stood up to get off, and her loose fitting engagement ring slid off of her finger, and was lost somewhere in the hay. She and her fiancé, along with some of the staff stayed until 3 AM searching for her ring with no luck. We arranged a time to meet there, and I was on my way.

When I arrived Meredith and her fiancé Mehrdod had emptied the hay from the area of the loss from the trailer onto a tarp, and spread it out, so I began my search there. I went over the hay very carefully, but there was no ring there. I then went into the trailer to search the remaining hay but was unable to find it there. There were gaps in the floor of the trailer that a ring could easily fall through, so I got under the trailer and searched; nothing. I then repeated the whole search again to make sure nothing was missed, and again no ring. I asked if this was the area where she disembarked, and she said no it was another area. We went to the place where she stood to get off of the ride, and I began to search there. She and her fiancé were doing something in another part of this spot when I got a great signal, put the pin pointer in, and found her ring. I walked over with her ring hidden in my hand, and asked an inquiring question, to which she walked over to Mehrdod to discuss it with him. It was at that time I held up my hand with her ring, and asked, « Are we looking for this? » Meredith got very emotional at that point with joy, and later said that that was the best « jump scare » she had ever had. She then told me that they were getting married in 12 days; WOW! What a pleasure it is to see that kind of joy restored in a person’s life! What a great day!

It was pretty late one night when Tim contacted me. He had lost his ring at a beach club in their volley ball court, and after about 1 1/2 hours of searching was unable to find it. He wanted to know if I would be willing to go back the next day and do a search, but I told him I would do the search this night if he would send me the information showing me exactly where to look, because time is the real enemy of a successful search. He agreed, and after the information came I was on my way.

All the parking was shut down for the night so the only place I could park was about 2 miles away at the pier. For situations such as this I bring a folding bike with me. I unfolded my bike, strapped my detector and scoop on my back, and rode the bike path to the search area. I was able to find the area quickly, and began my search. It took just a couple of minutes, and I had Tim’s ring in my hand. I let him know it was found, and we arranged to meet the next day for the return. He was very happy that it was found, and happy that I was willing to go to do the search late the night before, to which I exclaimed that it was my pleasure to do so!
