  • from Washington (District of Columbia, United States)

Howard’s 10 karat yellow gold family heirloom diamond ring once owned by his late grandfather successfully recovered in the backyard by ring finder Brian Rudolph.

Brian Rudolph’s client, Howard, smiling from ear to ear knowing that his much cherished gold and diamond family heirloom ring was back on his finger!

Howard was playing with his boys in the backyard of their house when his 10 karat yellow gold family heirloom diamond ring flew off of his pinky finger when one of his boys bumped into Howard’s hand.

This ring (which he inherited 2 years ago from his parents – once owned and worn by his late grandfather who passed away nearly 20 years ago) meant everything to Howard.

The family searched the grass for a couple of hours, but all of their efforts led to no avail. The very handsome yellow gold and diamond ring could not be found anywhere on the back lawn.

At some point that same afternoon, Howard had the wisdom within to search the internet for some metal detecting help. He found the elite international directory of metal detectorists called THE RING FINDERS. That is when he was able to locate my services and immediately gave me a call for help.

Early the next morning, at 6:00 a.m., I drove to Accokeek, Maryland with the mission in mind to recover and return Howard’s very sentimental keepsake. After showing me the approximate location of where he was standing when the ring flew off of his finger, the two of us asked the Lord to assist me in being able to help my desperate client recover his lost ring. Then, I then began to metal detect the very thick grass before me.

Within a few minutes, I hit a very strong signal that I clearly identified as most likely being Howard’s late grandfather’s gold and diamond ring! I knelt down in the grass, took my pinpointer out, and carefully inspected the area deep below the thick blades of grass. There it was! I found it! Howard’s 10 karat yellow gold halo was a beautiful sight below the grass line!

Howard could not have been more grateful for the work that I did to bring his favorite piece of jewelry (besides his wedding band) back to his pinky finger! My early morning mission was fully accomplished and my client and I took a moment to thank the Lord for helping me with my metal detecting skills to help my new friend Howard recover his very handsome family heirloom ring!

Metal Detecting Equipment and Training

I just added the Garrett AT Gold to the equipment list. I was looking for a machine that would perform really well on small gold items like diamond earrings and very small diamond pendants. The Minelab CTX 3030 manages well, but the prospecting (AT GOLD) hits these small items really well.

I purchased two small gold items from a local jewelry store for field testing and training purposes. The AT GOLD works amazingly well and should increase my recovery rate for these types of items.

The AT Gold picked out this small earring on its first test run along with some of the smallest specs of aluminum and other debris I have ever recovered.

My first impressions, the machine is awesome,  and it has already proven itself capable of finding micro specs of Au, Ag, and Pt.

Au: Gold

Ag: Silver

Pt: Platinum

Product Information:

Repairing or Cleaning your scratched Metal Detectors Display Screen.

Several months back while working a job, I rubbed the display screen on my CTX3030  with a wet muddy glove and scratched the display screen.

The scratches were not always visable, but with the sun hitting it just right, it was very noticable and distracting.

Came across this product by accident, but it worked very well on repairing the display screen on my CTX330; I feel pretty confident it would work well on any detectors display screen.

The product came out of a 3M headlight restoration kit purchased at Harbor Freight. After using the kit for it’s intended purpose, I tried a dab of the final polishing compound on the CTX3030’s screen and it took out the scratches with no problem.

The screen looks new again.

Product Information:

Recent Discovery, the new White’s Bullseye TRX Pinpointer.

As I favor Minelab products, I am going on my 6th and 7th Minelab pinpointer pro. (all under warranty) I am not sure if it’s the Texas heat, humidy, or moisture while occasionally operating in some damp enviroments, but failures have plagued my pinpointers.

I was getting ready to send both back on warranty issues, and did not want to be without a pinpointer. A quick Google search, and I discovered White’s had jus released the new Bullseye TRX.

Although, I have not field tested the new TRX, I am really liking the sensitivity, as well as the lanyard attachments on both the pointer and carrier.

The build seems solid, and if it runs trouble free, it might be my new go to product for pinpointers.
