Forty-four years ago, Waukesha, Wisconsin residents, Don and Lynne Holle built a house out in the country. At the time it was far from municipal water and sewer services. The solution was to install a traditional septic tank which has worked just fine. But now, all these years later, the tank needed servicing and the company would not come until the tank’s access hatch was unearthed. The problem was, neither Don or Lynn could recall exactly where the tank was located.
Don dug around in various places, hoping to land on the concrete surface, but to no avail. He recalled how the hatch lid bore a metal handle. Maybe he could locate the handle if he rented a metal detector. It was then he stumbled across the ring finder’s website and my blogsite. I received a phone call from Don with his unusual request. It was not so unusual really. After all, we are metal-detecting specialists. Whether the metal is ferrous (iron) or non-ferrous (precious metals such as gold, silver, etc.), my metal-detection equipment is suited for the job. Indeed, just the night before I had helped a man locate his iron survey markers for his property. And so, I agreed to meet Don at his home and try to find his long-lost septic tank. 
Shoulder-high trees had begun to sprout in the area where the tank was located. This meant using a small coil, one that could be maneuvered around the new growth. The ground was full of ferrous targets, etc., wire and old rusty fencing nails. Eventually, I checked out a little indentation in the ground not far from the entrance lane and when I did, a significant ferrous signal showed on my controller screen and howled its presence in my headset. A little bit of digging soon revealed what Don was hoping to find, the metal handle on the lid of his long-lost septic tank!
No, it wasn’t a gold wedding ring. However, I must say, the smile on Don’s face matched many a smile from clients whose rings I’ve found! Mystery solved! And now the trusty old septic tank can be serviced for many more years to come.

I received a text message from my son-in-law, Donnie Constransitch, saying that he was busy at the aqua park and to call Chandler for a lost ring in the soft sand. I called Chandler and she said she lost her ring last night in the dry sand and she knew the area where it was. I told her I’d be there in 10 minutes.
When I arrived, I called Chandler from the parking lot saying I was walking out on the beach. We met on the beach and she pointed out the area. She described the ring as a yellow gold ring with 5 diamonds. I turned my Equinox 800 on, took four steps and hit a solid 14/15 on the VDI (visual display indicator). That VDI was definitely in the range of a gold ring. I took a scoop of sand, gently shook the sand out and saw the gold ring. I held the scoop out so Chandler could retrieve her ring. I could see the relief in her face and then she told me the story. The ring originally belonged to Chandler’s Great Uncle; it was passed to Chandler’s aunt and then passed to Chandler. I completely understood the sentimental value associated with this heirloom and so excited it was back where it belonged.

Matt called me and explained that he was doing some landscaping in his back yard in July. He was laying landscape fabric before putting bark mulch on top and in the process took off his gloves several time that day! Late that evening while in the house he realized his ring was not on his finger, He Googled “how to find lost rings” and found me on the Ringfinders web site.
I agreed to meet up with Matt last night around 7:30. He showed me the area which he was working in and with all the nails and other metal object in the mulch it made for a tricky search. With persistence, I finally found his ring! Another happy Client.
Gloria called me to ask if I could find her grandmother’s bangles which were approximately 120 years old and had been passed onto her. Gloria lost them two years ago in Rundle Park while attending a party. She explained she was among the trees in the park and the landscape was full of 4 inch deep wood chips. Gloria told me that she had been to the park several times looking for her grandmother’s bangles with no luck.
I agreed to meet up with Gloria at the park and she showed me the area. Within 20 minutes I had her bangles back in her hands and after two years without them, she was very Happy.
Donna was visiting here from AZ, and while enjoying a day at the beach in Coronado yesterday, lost her family heirloom gold and platinum wedding ring in the sand. She had removed her ring to apply lotion, and placed it in her chair pocket. The Chair later got folded…….and well you’ve already have heard that story before! She and friends searched to no avail. She even went out and bought an inexpensive metal detector to conduct her own search, but, after an afternoon/evening thunderstorm that blew through the area making the previously dry sand wet again, the detector just didn’t do the job under those conditions. When my wife and I arrived, we met Donna, got the story, and I was shown the search area they had marked off. That always helps to have a known spot verified by photos taken the previous day. First pass, got a foil signal and that’s exactly what it was. Return pass, same story. Just starting the third pass, and I get a nice strong 16 on my Equinox. I said that this sounds like a winner, and sure enough, after locating it with my pin pointer, I pulled this beautiful ring out of it’s hiding place. Donna was super happy to get this historic ring back before having to leave town on Monday. A pleasure to meet you Donna, and thank you for the generous reward.
On 08/20/21, I received a call from Hollon regarding the loss of a Moonstone Silver Ring on the Beach at Bethany Beach, Delaware. Hollon told me that the ring belonged to her 11 year old daughter who had the ring for 5 years and that the ring had been given to her daughter by her grandmother. I arrived at the location of the lost ring and had Hollon show me the area that was believed to contain the lost ring. I drove back home to get my equipment and then returned to the location of the lost ring. I then began a grid search of the area and on the first pass I was able to locate the missing ring in the dry sand. The ring was then returned to Hollon who then gave it back to her daughter.
On 06/20/2021, I received a call from Sharis girlfriend regarding the loss of her white gold wedding ring at the beach at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes Delaware. I agreed to meet Sharis husband, Joseph at the beach so that I could attempt to locate her ring. Upon making contact with Joseph at the beach he told me that his wife had first thought that she had lost her ring in the trash at the hotel where they had been staying on vacation but that they were unable to find the ring in the trash so they felt that the ring had been lost somewhere on the beach. Joseph said that his wife had been out in the water and that she had also been sitting in a beach chair at the edge of the water. I decided to first search the area at the edge of the water where Shari had been sitting, I started a grid search and upon making a second pass I was able to locate the lost ring sitting in the wet sand at the edge of the water. The ring was recovered and returned to Joseph so that he could give it back to Shari. Joseph told me that the ring was very special because it was their original engagement ring that had two other rings soldered to it. Joseph said that the two rings that were soldered to the engagement ring had been given to his wife Shari by her mother six years ago and that Sharis mother had passed away in January of 2021.

Jim was in his back yard tossing a large plastic exercise ball in the air when he felt his large 24k gold wedding band fly off his finger. Jim searched the yard for the ring until dusk but was unable to locate it. He later ordered a used metal detector online that he would use to search for the ring and then give to his son but then decided to try another route. Jim googled “find my lost ring”, found the Ring Finders website and then the Dunedin Ring Finder. Jim called me the following morning and we set up a search in the relatively small but grassy back yard. After I arrived, I asked Jim to show me exactly where he was standing when he was tossing the ball and to demonstrate how he was doing it. I asked him if he thought it possible that the ring flew off over his head behind him and he said it was. I then began my grid searching in that area which was also near a utility shed. As it turned out, I began my search only about three feet from where I found the ring! In less than five minutes and after a couple of photos, Jim’s wedding band was back on his finger. I received a call from a gentleman who wanted to inquire if I could help find his wife’s diamond ring that was believed to be lost in the side yard at their house. I arrived at the house and was shown the area to search. It was believed that the ring had fallen off of her finger while playing ball with the children in the yard. I was feeling quite confident as I normally do at the beginning of most of my searches, however once I turned on my machine and ground balanced there was an abnormally high amount of interference, so much so that it began to make me nervous as I have never encountered this much chatter before. I started to change my settings and had to turn the sensitivity down to the the lowest level to cut out all the interference, not how I normally search for sure. I started my grid search of the area and just after I started my second grid area I found the white gold diamond ring about an hour in to my search!
When I knocked on the door I showed Brittany’s husband the ring and asked him if he would like to give it back. He told me I could have the honor of returning it to Brittany. Then the moment every « ring finder » cherishes the BIG smile and the excitement that comes with returning that which was lost.
