Frank lost his platinum and diamond encrusted wedding band at his best friend’s wedding reception in Bowie, Maryland. He was throwing a football to some young kids who also attended the very special celebration. During one particular pass across the backyard lawn, Frank felt his beloved wedding band fly off of his finger. He and other venue invitees searched the lawn for nearly two hours but all of their efforts led to no avail.

Clemson University Class Ring Lost in the Ocean, Found and Returned Ocean Isle Beach NC

On Saturday, June 1st, I was enroute to another ring search; when Angela called and left me a voice mail. In the voice mail she said that it was recommended on a FB page that she call me for lost rings. She said that her daughter, Riley had lost her Clemson Class ring that she had received in April on Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina, in the ocean. Angela gave me Riley’s phone number. After we hung up, I called Riley and told her I had another search and I’d be there as soon as I could.

I called Riley back after a successful recovery and told her I was on my way. I arrived about 20 minutes later and met Riley on the beach. Riley explained that she and some of her friends were out about 2 am enjoying the late evening and the ocean. She continued saying that they had been sitting in the ocean leaning back on their arms, with her hands in the sand and letting the waves roll over them. At some point she felt her Clemson ring slip off her finger into the sand. She immediately called her dad, which was at about 1:40 am. A quick check of the tide tables on ‘Willy Weather’ showed high tide was at 3:18 am. So basically, this happened about 2 ½ hours before high tide. I arrived at Ocean Isle, roughly at 3:30 pm, which was right at the high tide time. Not only was I there at the wrong time but the sea breeze had kicked up the waves, to the point I couldn’t get in the water. I asked Riley to point out the approximate area they were in and she stated they came straight down the beach from the beach access blue mat. I figured I’d clear the top of the beach and down the slope on both sides of the center line. Every once in a while, I’d try to slip in the ocean, but that was a lost cause! After close to 3 hours, and no change in the sea conditions, I called Riley and told her I was calling it for the night.  I told her I’d be back the next day at low tide and resume the search.

Today, June 2nd, I showed up around 8 am, 2 hours before low tide and started an east/west grid search perpendicular to the tide line. I started about 40 yards north of the center line and worked south. I had my Nox 800 detector and knowing that a women’s yellow gold ring will show up between 13-15 VDI (visual display indicator) depending on the size and width of the ring. Unfortunately pull tabs show up with the same numbers and if there’s anything on the beach that’s plentiful, its pull tabs! After about 2 plus hours I had detected about 90 yards on the beach and getting out in the water to about thigh deep. With the circumstances of the ring being lost, I knew the ring was there – somewhere. Gold is a heavy metal, so when it comes off in the ocean, it pretty much settles where it falls. In this case the ring was already y buried in the sand, so it would just sit there working itself deeper with water and sand going over the top of it. Also, knowing when it was lost, I knew the ring would be at the bottom of the slope at low tide. I felt I was definitely out of the search area when I got a solid 15. Is this just another bent up pull tab. I dug a scope of sand and dumped it on the beach. Ran the coil over the pile and I had the target out of the hole. I spread the sand out with my foot and scoured the sand. BOOM!!!  There in the sand staring up at me was Riley’s Clemson Ring. I washed the sand off the ring and took a picture. I sent the picture to both Riley and Angela and then called Riley – no answer. I called Angela – no answer. A short time later Angela replied by text saying, “That’s it!!!!” A few minutes later Riley called. Evidently Angela tried calling Riley with no luck, so she called one of the friends with Riley and told her to wake Riley up and that Jim found her ring. Riley said they were on the way. When Riley got to the beach, she sprinted from the access to where I was. She gave me a big hug and I could tell she was very appreciative. I love returning lost items to their owners!!

Engagement ring found in park in Grand Rapids, MI

Is that a tear of joy.   Liz posted on Craigslist about losing her ring at the park and gave a general idea of where it was lost between the parking lot and the picnic table. I searched all around the picnic table and finally went to search near the parking lot where I found it next to the wooden fence. Just engaged with no date for the wedding yet and she was devastated. A beautiful 14K white gold ring with a nice diamond on top. Made my day!

Diamond Engagement ring recovered at home in Lincroft, NJ

While out shopping I got a message from Christine asking for help in finding her engagement ring she lost in her back yard. I told her id come out as soon as i was done. I met her at her house and she explained she was playing volleyball with her daughter and felt her ring fly off her finger. Her husband ordered a metal detector and had it overnighted, but using that they still couldnt find her ring. That morning the whole family was out looking but still no luck. Someone mentioned about people who look for lost rings for people and she found me on google. She showed me where they were playing and i started detecting. The 2nd signal i heard was her ring. She couldn’t believe how quick i found it. Another happy ending with a big smile to show for it.

Ring recovered at Bradley Beach, NJ

Got a call from Raymond asking for help in finding his girlfriends ring at Bradley Beach. While enjoying the day she took off her rings and put them in the side pocket of their beach bag. Raymond’s wallet was in the same pocket and when he went to get it, the rings fell out into the sand. They were able to find them all but one. I met him and he showed me where they were sitting and after a few passes with the detector I located her ring. A happy ending to a nice day on the beach.

3 Rings Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

It was close to 9:30 am on Friday, May 31st when I received a call from Roz saying her son, Michael had lost 3 rings in the dry sand the day before. She had me on speaker and both her and her husband, Len was answering my questions. They said they were sitting in the dry sand when a wave came up and covered their area. They pulled their towels and bags back to dryer sand and in the process Michael’s rings fell out of the bag. I told them I could be there in about an hour and to send me the Resort’s address.

When I got there, I met Roz and Len on the beach, and they showed me an area about 10’X20’. I turned the Nox on and went to work. I was doing a north/south grid search and was running outside the area Len had pointed out. I finally got a great signal and dug out a 2023 Augusta University class ring, which I’m trying to find the owner of. So, at this point I started an east/west grid search north of the original area. On my second line I hit a solid silver target, 2 of Michael’s rings were silver. Dug out the target and both Roz and Len identified it as Michael’s. A couple of steps and I hit and recovered another silver ring belonging to Michael. Another swing and I found Michael’s 3rd Ring. Roz called Michael and told him the good news. Michael thanked me and we hung up. A few minutes later Roz received a text from Michael saying, “I was in a shared uber and the guy next to me was sleeping so I had to curb my excitement and not be too loud but definitely much thanks to the veteran who found the rings with 2 praying hand emojis.”

Ring lost at La Jolla Shores found

Nouhrra spent the whole day at La Jolla Shores and when she got back to the car, she realized a precious ring given to her by her mother, was missing off her finger. Since she had been in many areas that day and didn’t feel it come off, there was no way to know where to look. A friend of hers contacted me for help. They couldn’t stay and show me all the areas where Nouhrra had been, but, they sent me a couple of videos of two of the areas in the dry sand. The ring could have been lost in a grass area too, as well as the parking lot. When I got to the beach, I started to eliminate each area one by one. I started with the dry sand area shown in the video. No good there, so, off to the path she had taken to the grass area, and then the grass area itself. Nothing turned up after 4 hours of searching, so, I had to break the bad news that it just wasn’t in those areas, or, it may have been found by someone else. I asked for a photo to keep on file in case it turned up. I always check with fellow detecting club members and others I know that detect that area on rings that I haven’t been able to find. I received the photo, but, it didn’t match the description they gave me. I was assured that the photo was correct, so, I kept it even though it was a bit blurry. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I’m back at that beach for fun and detecting a nearby area. Well, right up against the sea wall, I get a sketchy signal. With the rebar inside the wall, any repeatable signal is worth investigating, so, in went the scoop, and out came a ring that looked sort of familiar to me. When I got home I went through my recent messages and came across the « lost and not found » ring. With the poor photo, I was still uncertain it was the exact one. A few more texts, questions back and forth, and another photo that showed the ring more clearly, confirmed that it was the one Nouhrra lost. A pleasure to meet you Nouhrra and thank you for the reward.

Wedding Band Goes Missing During Barbecue…Found Over Fence in Gaithersburg, Maryland

Walleed and Anya have been married for 5 years. Walleed had never lost his platinum wedding band until the other day. He lost the ring while barbecuing on his townhouse’s second floor deck. While throwing a nail out back which his five year old son had found, the man’s ring flew off with it!

The family searched with a metal detector for over an hour but they couldn’t find the irreplaceable keepsake anywhere. Finally, Walleed went online and found me on my Metal Detecting Adventures Inc website. He was thinking of renting a higher quality metal detector from my company.

After talking on the phone with my potential client, I convinced Walleed that the best thing to do would be to hire me to find his lost ring instead of renting some equipment. Many people who rent from my company do not find what they set out to search for. Then, they hire me…THE RING HERO! Walleed got smart from the get go and we set up a time for me to conduct the search.

I am happy to share that I successfully found my client’s special wedding band! After metal detecting the entire backyard (which included the lawn, flower beds and between all of the wooden fence slots), I decided that my next plan of action was to search on the other side of the rear fence. That’s where I recovered Walleed’s wedding ring! It had flown 35 feet from the deck and landed part way down the hill on the other side of the fence!

Walleed and Anya were so very happy to see again the very wedding band that Anya had placed on her husband’s finger approximately five years earlier! The couple were relieved and extremely grateful that they hired a professional ring finder to do the search which as a result would end up bringing the heavy sentimental platinum ring back home to Walleed’s finger!

Gifted 14K Gold Wedding Ring, Lost In The Ocean, in Crescent Beach State Park, Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Found With A Metal Detector

On Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, I found a Men’s Wedding Ring and posted it to Facebook, in the hopes, the owner would recognize it and I would be able to return it. One of the comments, on my post was from Samantha. She commented, “My son lost a Gold Wedding Ring, at Crescent Beach, last weekend, if you ever find anything there”.
I replied that I was sorry to hear this and could she send me a Facebook private message, which she did. I replied with an aerial view of Crescent Beach State Park, Cape Elizabeth, ME, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. I marked off 5 sections of the large beach area and asked Samantha if her son had lost the ring in one of the 5 sections. She sent back my photo, with an area, circled in yellow and told me it was lost in that area. She then sent another PM and stated

“ He lost it in the water, a little bit, but the tides were in between. He’s only 9 and it was my Dad’s ring, that he gave to him. He was super sad, when it fell off”.

I replied with,
“So not to deep. I am not familiar with this beach but I can certainly give it a try. I do have waterproof detectors. You say the tides were in between, so he wasn’t way out there”.

Samatha replied, “He wasn’t way out! Dry sand was a very short distance behind me. The beach that day was pretty clear as well, so we could see the bottom. Just couldn’t find the ring”.

I then told her that I had a previous commitment, the next morning, Thursday, was going to be out of state, on Friday and if Crescent Beach State Park, would grant me permission, I would search on Saturday, when the tide was advantageous. I told her if I could make it Thursday, I would, but it would be tight, with the tide coming in. With the ring, already lost for 5 days, in the water m I really didn’t want to wait until Saturday.
Samantha replied, “Aww ok! No pressure at all! Thank you”!
I knew there was pressure because when something is lost in the water or, the tides and waves could potentially make it lost forever. I had to get there asap.

The next morning, I finished up with my commitment and it was 10:30am. Low tide was at 11:09am. If I left right then and drive the approximate 25 30 minutes, to the State Park, I could get 2-3 hours of searching completed, before the incoming tide would overtake the search area.

I arrived at Crescent Beach State Park and started searching at 11:10am, low tide. The tide was now coming in. I started searching about a 1/3 of the way down, to the water and performed a grid search, horizontally to the beach and the ocean. Back and forth, searching approximately 100 to 125 feet and then turning around heading back to the starting point. I had made 4 such passes, digging the occasional non-ferrous target. At approximately 35 – 40 minutes, into the search, I received a mixed signal, on my VDI screen, that would not repeat. I would sometimes get a ferrous signal and sometimes a nonferrous signal. It could be two different metals, next to each other, throwing the detector off. I had enough of a good nonferrous signal, that I couldn’t, not dig it. The detector was telling me it was 3 inches under the sand and I slid the scoop, into the hard packed sand. Ran my coil, over the pile of sand and the target, was in the pile of sand that I had just dug out of the beach. I pulled my pin pointer out and stuck it in the pile, I had just dug. The pin pointer located the target and as I removed the sand, around the target, I saw the unmistakable color of GOLD. I removed a little more sand and saw the complete ring. I had found the ring.

I then sent a photo of the ring, on my scoops handle, to Samantha and she replied, “OMG, That’s right in the area we were in. You are so amazing. I’m sending the photo, to my Dad, real quick, to confirm. I believe it is”. A couple of minutes later, “Yes it is!!!”

I then told Samantha to give me a call at 1:00pm, when I arrived home, so we could make plans to return the ring.
Samantha the sent another PM, “My son is going to be so happy. He cried and cried and said he would give anything, to have the ring back. You are quite possibly, the best person on earth.” Well, her son will be getting the ring back soon.

When she called, Samantha told me she lived in Gorham, Maine and was getting out of work at 3:30pm. We would meet at the Hannaford Supermarkets, on Rt 1, in Saco Maine, at 4:00pm.

We met at 4:00pm and Samantha brought her son Jacob, with her. It is Jacob’s ring and it fell off, of his finger, in the cold North Atlantic waters, 5 days earlier. Jacob was extremely happy to have his ring back. His ring, is actually his grandfather’s ring, that was gifted to Jacob and his mother told me that Jacob had to tell his grandfather that he had lost the ring, which was very hard for Jacob to do. Now Jacob gets to tell his grandfather, that he now has it back. Jacob also will NEVER EVER wear his ring to the beach again. I just love seeing people happy and smiling, like Jacob is now.

Lost Gold Wedding Ring recovered, Union Lake, Union City Michigan

Zach and Elizabeth had a successful bluegill fishing adventure, until it was time to give the hands a wash in the water. Her wedding ring (set/3-soldered) slipped of as she was rinsing her hand. The murky brown water was about 4.5-5.5ft deep. Most of the shoreline looks similar, but there were bluegill beds and a shiny tea drink-can as landmarks. We worked out the details, now was the time, as I had the day off with no pressing plans. The lake (technically a main local river)is dirty water, murky bottom, with trees, leaves, stumps and branches laying everywhere. Decades of litter, beer cans, pull rings. sinkers, lures, foil, you name it, all laying in the branches and trees. Digging and retrieving targets was difficult. I gridded the spot several times over, making sure they were satisfied I was covering where they desired. After about two hours, it was appearing grim. They did make the most of the time and had caught about 40 nice bluegills. Ha. Knowing that finds often come just beyond where people envision the loss, I suggested allowing me to push beyond the area “one last pass”. A few steps and two targets later, I heard a nice clean tone with a gold range vdi number on the display. The target was suspended in muck pudding, within some tree roots, nearly impossible to scoop out, but by some miracle and lots of patience, the scoop nestled in just right and when I checked the basket I could feel the promising clunk. When the contents got rinsed more, I caught a glimpse of white gold and a ring’s edge!
