Engagement Ring Recovered at Lido Beach, Sarasota

Andrew and Danielle were recently engaged and were spending a day at the beach to relax and just spend time together. They had been enjoying the sun and decided to play a little in the water. Andrew grabbed a ball and headed out onto the water and Danielle quickly followed. As she ran into the water Andrew tossed her the ball. Danielle leaped to catch the ball and felt her beautiful engagement ring fly off of her finger. They couldn’t believe it was gone. Andrew had saved for 5 years so he could get just the right ring. They borrowed swim goggles and recruited others with swim goggles to help search for the ring but they couldn’t find it. Andrew started to look for metal detectors on his smart phone. The Ring Finders popped up with a recent recovery made by SRARC. He contacted us and because they were there at the beach waiting Mike Miller made a quick response request and then headed for the location. After arriving and getting the exact search area narrowed down, Mike went to work. It took about 15 minutes to find the ring and return it to a disbelieving Danielle. What fun it was to see the big grins on their faces when they had the ring back on Danielle’s finger.

Three rings lost then recovered in Clearwater

Through a series of accidents, Ashley managed to lose three of her precious rings in the yard. She found SRARC on The Ring Finders and we scheduled a recovery attempt. Howard Metts, Stan Flack, Ed Osmar and Mark Prue all responded to the call and had the three rings back in Ashley’s hands in very short order. Ashley let us know how she felt in her own words below.

I just want to take the time out to say thanks so much for coming to help me find my 3 rings. I never thought it would be possible to master the impossible. Before hearing about you, I thought I had no chance or hope of finding them. You have truly blessed me and I thank God for such an amazing club fulfilling the work of God. You are a blessing to many so for that we Thank you! You all rock.

Cell Phone Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found.

I was metal detecting down on the beach, when I received an overloading signal through my head phones. I swept the area a bit with my coil, and saw the edge of something. I reached down, and picked up a Droid cell phone, put it in my bag and continued my detecting. When I got home, I plugged the phone into my charger, and pushed the on switch. The phone came on, and seemed to be working, so I tried to access the phone book in order the find someone who could help me find the owner.

I was able to access the phone book, and started calling numbers, like Mom, Dad, and the other favorites listed. I left messages at all the numbers, and about an hour later received a call from the person’s mom. She told me his name is Jeff, and had lost the phone a couple of days prior, and she would contact him to get in touch with me. It wasn’t too long before Jeff called me, and we arranged to meet at his job, so I could return his phone seeing it was a midway point from where we both lived. I met Jeff and returned the phone, he was busy, so it was a quick return, but happiness the end result.

Lost Engagement Ring Iowa City, Iowa… Found!

I found an engagement ring today for a lady named Susan who gave me a call yesterday. She was at her son’s baseball game on Wednesday evening and was helping the team warm up before the game. She had a baseball glove on and when she took it off and tossed it to her son she thinks her rings went with it but she wasn’t sure.

Here husband Sam and her rented a detector the next day and found the wedding band where she had tossed the glove but no engagement ring. She searched again on Friday but still no luck.Susan and Sam

So she gave me a call and I met them this morning at the ball field. I started out by thoroughly going over the area where the wedding band was found and came up empty. Sam told me they had walked behind some bleachers and stood for awhile beside a building watching the game. So I followed their path and behind the bleachers I got a shallow 12-20 signal on the CTX. Looking down I saw a glint of gold through the grass and knew it was going to be a good day!Susan's ringsThey were very happy and relieved to have her ring back where it belongs.

Lost platinum eternity ring found in Centennial, Colorado

Kathleen was out planting flowers in the yard of their home in Centennial, Colorado. While shaking open a garbage bag to put old, dead plants in her 3 ring platinum eternity ring slid off her hand. Kathleen had seen people searching with metal detectors in the past and knew that the newer machines would be expensive to purchase and complex to understand. And that rental machines may not be good enough to get the achieve success and with no knowledge of how to set up a detector. So Kathleen decided to find an expert detectorist and ended up calling me through TheRingFinders.

I was out at a wine tasting when Kathleen called and I did not hear my phone ring so she left me a message. Upon seeing I had a message I returned her call. We talked for a bit and set up a search for the following morning.

After arriving at their house Kathleen and Michael (Kathleen’s husband) led me to the location where Kathleen was working. We discussed the possibilities of the rings hiding place and I began my search. After searching the area in front of where Kathleen was standing a twice with no success I started searching behind where she was standing. My MXT gave out a faint signal (my sensitivity was turned down due to edging and pipes in the area and the plantings were deep). I pulled back the plantings and there sat Kathleen’s rings. She was quite happy to get her prized rings back.

Treasure Island Wedding Ring Recovered

Mike and Jody were enjoying a day at the beach so Mike put his ring in his shoe so he wouldn’t lose it. Not knowing this Jody needed to get to something and moved his shoe and viola the ring disappeared. They called SRARC who sent out team member Stan Flack seeing how he was nearby. Mike was certain of the area and so this was an easy day for Stan. Took about 15 seconds and the ring was returned much to the delight of JODY.
Thanks Stan for being there for both recoveries this past weekend!

100 Year old Ring lost then recovered on Treasure Island

After calling Bill Jackson’s to find someone with a metal detector, Jerry Blair of Dunnellon, FL called SRARC with a desperate plea. His wife Cherife was on Clearwater Beach looking for a lost 100 + year old platinum and diamond ring that had been passed down from her grandmother to her that had been lost in the sand.

Tom Jones called Chris Durden who happened to be leaving Clearwater Beach at the time and asked him to call Cherife and help her find the ring. Moments later Chris called Tom back and informed him that she was on Sunset Beach instead. Hearing this Tom decided to meet her instead since he was only 10 minutes from her.

Tom arrived to find that she had put 3 rings in her shoe the evening before so as not to lose them in the water. When she left the beach she picked up her towel tipping over her shoes. She picked up the shoes and went to her car. Upon arriving at the car she realized that her rings had been inside her shoe and had been dropped. She went back to the beach and searched the area finding 2 of the 3 rings but could not find the one that was most dear to her heart.

Tom started hunting listening for a soft target since the ring was very small and platinum. After passing over the area Cherife had marked out he found a penny, quarter and a pull tab but no ring. He went back over the area very slowly and found the ring at the exact location where Cherife had found the other two.

Needless to say she was extremely happy and called her husband to tell him the great news.

Tarpon Springs Engagement Ring Lost and Returned

Elizabeth and her now husband Randy were enjoying their wedding day with many family and friends on Rooker Island off the coast of Tarpon Springs, Florida.  While the party was in full swing Elizabeth looked down and noticed that her solitaire engagement ring was gone.  She was heartbroken and cried the rest of the afternoon thinking her beautiful wedding day was ruined.
Once home she remembered seeing a post on another website about a ring that was recovered on Beer Can Island by a local area club.  Looking up the info, she sent SRARC an email on their Facebook page.  After talking to a couple of the members, a hunt was scheduled for Thursday three days after the wedding.  The hunters, Mike Miller, Tom Jones and Paul Hill arrived at 7:30 am and were taken out on Elizabeth’s boat to the barrier island to begin the search.  The team listened to all the details and came up with a plan.  The tide was coming in so they started deeper and would work their way into the shallow waters.  Expecting loads of pull tabs and bottle tops they were surprised by the lack of signals, going 10-15 mins or more without a target.  Another consultation with Elizabeth and looking at some pictures sent to her from friends the search area was narrowed way down to a 50 yd by 30 yd plot.  Mike and Paul worked parallel to the shore overlapping each other as they go.  Tom on the other hand went in and out to grid the location.  Mike and Paul made the turn and halfway back Paul picked up a nice 3 inch signal in the gold range.  Two scoops later the ring was returned to an amazed and thankful bride.  The team was so excited to have found the needle in a haystack.  Good communications and the photos were a major help in finding this ring in just under 2 hours.

Treasure Island Engagement Ring Lost and Recovered

On May 23rd 2015 my wife Lauren was out in the gulf playing catch with a football with some family that had came to visit from Detroit , Michigan (our home town)

Lauren caught a pass and we heard her say « oh no! My ring! » We instantly swim toward her and started searching . After hours of looking for the ring, a storm came in and forced us to post pone our search until the next day.

I posted an ad on Craigslist about how I lost the ring in the water and if anyone finds it , please get in contact with me. It was only after 20 minutes of posting my ad , Stan Flack had replied to my email and offered to help me look for the ring. He called me and we set the arrangement to meet at the Bilmar Beach resort where the ring was lost.

Stan said he would be there at 4:00 pm and he was already in the water when I got there at 4:01pm. After 30 minutes of searching the water, a storm started to roll in with thunder and lightning … I was nervously watching him search for the ring as I knew we were running out of time… Next thing I know it Stan digs into the sandy ocean floor, turns around and yells « John, I found your ring! » My jaw dropped and heart felt like it stopped beating. It felt as if I was in a dream. I run out to the spot where Stan found the ring and give the the biggest hug I could possibly give. I will never forget this day and I am so grateful for you and your help. My wife is thrilled to have it back on her finger… And I owe that all to Stan Flack.

I will never be able to thank you enough!!!!

Lost Key at Hermosa Beach, CA…Found.

I was sitting in my recliner after dinner this evening, watching one of my new surfing videos when I received a call from Nate. He was asking if I would be able to help him find a key that was lost on the beach. I let him know that it was possible if he could get me in the general vicinity of the loss. I was about 30 minutes out, but that city was having a festival at the beach, so I knew it would take a bit longer to reach the destination because of parking. This beach is cleaned daily, and the county does a very good job. It was important to look tonight. I made sure it was going to be alright with Nate. He gave me the go ahead, so I packed my gear and headed his way.

When I got there, Nate met me with his friends Jill and Libby (who also is a news anchor for a local radio station). We went to the area where they said the key was lost, and I could see the sand had been moved around a lot from their searching. They told me they had been looking for a while for that lost key, were feeling a bit discouraged, and were thinking about a locksmith. The key was for a house that their friend had let them use, as they had come down from Seattle for a vacation.

It was now dark, so I put on my head lamp, and gave a flashlight to the group to help them see. I began my search in the area they pointed out, and set a tight grid. I went back and forth for about 10 minutes, without hearing a sound. Normally the detector will find foil, pull tabs, bottle caps, and even coins, but here there was nothing, the beach was clean, to the point I was about to swing the detector over my scoop to make sure it was working. Right then I got a signal, and it was a good one, the only one. It was the key, and everyone was happy with handshakes, hugs, and high-fives. I am glad they called me out tonight, because I knew if we had waited another day, the key would have been picked up by the county beach cleaners, and never have been found. what great happiness, and smiles to go around.
