Lost Water Shut Off Valve Found in Southfield Michigan

All was WELL and Good…….

…..until Dave could not locate the outside shut off valve to the well water supply. Although the subdivision went on city water, he still wanted the well supply for watering the garden, plants, ect. and needed to shut the supply off to change the piping around. Turning on my Tesoro Sidewinder metal detector in all metal mode I started to search for the valve. An increase in the threshold sound was convincing enough to dig. Pushing the shovel into the ground and removing a few scoops revealed the cap that sealed the metal tube to the valve deep below the ground. Using a long T bar, we turned the valve until it was shut. Instead of saying « O Well » and walking away, he was thrilled that he called me to help him. All’s WELL that ends well we said, as Dave feels this project is now just water under the bridge!

Lost – Heirloom Silver Watch, Outer Banks, OBX, NC – FOUND!!

I got call from Sean early in the day.  He said someone had lost a watch on the beach.  I asked the usual questions about its proximity to the water, and he said that it was in dry sand.  I told him that I would be there shortly.

When I arrived, Sean took me to a dune walkover.  There was a sitting area that was covered with sand.  He said the watch was lost somewhere between the sitting area and the cabana on the beach.

I fired up the D2 and did a complete sweep on the sitting area and the path to and inside the cabana.  Nothing but a few bottle caps.  Just then he remembered that the covering had been further to the south the previous day.  Again, nothing.  I had spent quite a bit of time.  If it were there, I should have found it.

I got more detailed information about the watch.  It was over 50 years old, silver and had been given to his wife’s mom by her mom who was born in 1918.  When I heard that, I told Sean, “We have to find it.”

I found out that Sean had not actually been with Grandma when she lost the watch so I asked if someone who was there could come down to the beach.  Donna, Sean’s mom came down and the puzzle started to fill in more.  They had walked down to the beach!

I immediately went to the water’s edge as I normally do when there is a chance that the item is in the water.  As I worked my way up, it wasn’t long until I got a strong 99 hit.  It was the watch.

When I gave the watch to Donna, she said, “I had been praying the entire time that you would find it.”  I told her that I pray every time before I search.

The family was thrilled!

I received a text from Caroline about her lost ring in Sea Isle City, NJ. It is very sentimental because it’s the first piece of jewelry her boyfriend gave her. She put that ring and another one in her cup holder but forgot to tell her boyfriend they were in there, so both dropped in the sand when he closed the beach chair. I met her on the beach and started to search.
After a few scans with the metal detector, the rings were found!

Paula called to ask if I could help find her daughter, Ashley’s, gold high school class ring and another gold ring in Cape May, NJ. They forgot the rings were on their beach blanket and both went flying into the sand when the blanket was pulled up before leaving. After a quick search with my metal detector, the rings were found! Thanks to Jeff Laag for the referral as he was unavailable at the moment.

Lost – Gold Emerald Ring, Duck, NC, Outer Banks – FOUND!!!

I got a text at 3:46 but I was busy getting food ready for the grill.  As I was eating my ribs about 4:30, I noticed I had a new text.  It was from Olivia.  She said that she has lost her ring on the beach.

I gave Olivia a call and let her know rings lost close to the water need immediate attention.  The Outer Banks is known for it’s high-energy surf.  Once the ring is underwater, it’s not telling where it will end up.  Luckily the tide was receding but will only be going down until around 5:50PM.  I told her that I could be there in about 10 minutes.

When I arrived, I met Olivia and her friend Bessie.  They showed me where they had been sitting and the path they took to the beach.  The walked south for about 50 yards after that and then noticed the ring, which Olivia put in her pocket, was missing!

I fired up the D2 and followed her path to the beach.  I even went deeper than she had showed me thinking it may have been washed in by the very active waves.  Nothing!  I proceeded south along the path of her walk covering it from the water to the dry sand.  I found nothing but a few bottle caps.

I was heading back to Olivia to ask what we had missed.  I cut between where she had walked on the beach and where she had walked down to the beach.  Ding! A strong hit.  I scooped the top layer of sand carefully…the gold ring shined out brightly.  It was the ring!

I held it up and Olivia ran to get it.  She was over the moon!

Family Heirloom Ring Lost in Stone Harbor NJ Found by Ring Finders South Jersey John Favano

I received a call from Teri about her father’s World War II ring that was lost in Stone Harbor, NJ on Saturday. Her father, who was very fond of the sea, was a Merchant Marine in World War II and his ring is very sentimental to the family. Her son, Patch, has been wearing the ring for the past few years. To keep the ring safe while on the beach, he placed it in the cup holder of a beach chair. Unknowingly, his cousin put on the backpack chair and went to the water to clean off some sand before leaving. Patch realized the ring had fallen out, and he and his family searched the area. They resigned to the thought that it was probably lost forever since it may have been dropped in the ocean.
I met up with Teri and did an extensive search of the area where it might have fallen out. I had to return a second time to be able to go out farther in the water. It was in waist-deep water that I finally got the signal. It was a great feeling when the ring showed up in the scoop and was able to be returned to the family.

Lost – iPhone – Kill Devil Hills, Outer Banks (OBX), NC – FOUND !!!

I missed a call from Gary at about 4:30 pm.  But he left a message that said that his son had lost his iPhone on the beach.  After a bout of phone-tag I finally reached him and headed down to Kill Devil Hills.

When I arrived, I met Brian, the 19-year-old college student who had lost his phone.  Of course I realized how important this was…friends, pictures, class information…it was all on that iPhone!

As we walked down to the beach, Brian pointed out a lifeguard stand that was about 100 yards away.  He said he thought he had lost it between where we were and the lifeguard stand.  Lots of sand!  I asked him when he lost it and he replied about one in the morning.  Someone, including another detector, could have found it!

He thought he had lost it close to the stand, so I didn’t fire up the Deus 2 until I got about 50 yards away.  I got a few hits as I searched south to the stand, but they didn’t pan out and I didn’t even bring my scoop because I didn’t want to damage the phone.

Brian said he had walked from the stand in an arch, so I followed his lead as I started back north on the beach.  I got a hit, loud and identical to my test on my

iPhone.  It was Brian’s iPhone!!!

Lost Gold Ring Found in Taylor Michigan

A Golden Alignment……

…….As I stepped out of my vehicle at my chiropractor’s office for an appointment, Dr. Paul approached me. We’ve known each other for many years, and we joke around alot. He said I know you’ve told me about your ring finding but now I need your help. Taken by surprise, I thought he was kidding around. But he was serious and said his wedding ring came off somewhere on the grass portions of the property a few days ago. He also thought it may have been lost at a gas station. After my back and neck adjustment I turned on my MXT metal detector and started to grid search. One section revealed nothing but as I closed in on the front section, I got a real nice signal. Probing with my pin-pointer revealed his custom gold wedding band hiding below a patch of partially dead grass! Walking back into the office the employees were beyond belief that the ring was found. As Dr. Paul exited a room, I held the ring up for him to see. As he came closer, he exclaimed… that’s it! Totally thrilled he couldn’t thank me enough. So now with my back in place, and Dr. Paul’s ring in place, we all had smiles on our face!

Gold Signet Ring Lost for Four Years-Found!

I received a call from Mike on Tuesday 28th and he said he had lost his gold signet ring in his backyard several years ago.  He said they were moving and the ring was a gift from his wife and he really wanted to find it before they moved.  We made arrangements for Wednesday afternoon.  Around four years ago he had been clearing brush in the backyard and towards the end of the day he noticed his ring was gone.  They had been piling the brush next to the street on the side yard, so that’s where I started my search.  I really didn’t think the ring would be there, but I had to eliminate that area of possibility.  The huge problem I had to deal with was underground power lines next to the street, (around 14 KV), and it was really messing with my detector.  I had to go very slow in that area until I got far enough away that my detector started to settle down a little.  After a little over an hour I finally eliminated the side yard.  The back of the house had a pretty steep slope that was covered in pine straw mulch.  I know from experience that pine straw on a slope can be very slippery.  He had mentioned that he had slipped a couple of times on that slope, but didn’t remember exactly where that happened.  That’s where I focused my attention next, and after I looked at it more carefully, towards the corner of the house the slope wasn’t quite as steep, so I figured anybody coming through that area would would pick that spot.  As I got halfway down the slope I got a consistent 12:20 on my CTX, and it was shallow, (showing one inch).  If you’re looking for a gold ring that’s a very good signal.  I brushed the straw away and didn’t see anything visible, but my pinpointer said there was something there just under the surface.  I brushed the soil a little with my fingers and saw the corner of a gold rim showing through!  I called Mike over, as he was just about to go back in the house.  His wife came out and she was elated!  She said she figured it was gone and never to be found again.  I think I was as excited as they were, because that was a tough search having to deal with the underground power lines.  Knowing your machine, and asking the right questions makes all the difference.  The entire search took around two hours.

Huge cuban link gold bracelets lost Marco Island Naples Found

Lost GOLD FOUND! After spending a day on the beach and getting ready to call it a day, it took several guys to get the boat off the sandbar. That’s when it happened, while making a quick phone call, he realized that both of his bracelets that he’d safely stowed in his dry bag were missing. Well, it’s only lost until you call. Having receive the call for help, we coordinated a plan to get there by boat, carefully checked the tide charts, and arranged the time and place to meet. Long story short, the bracelets are back where they belong. A picture is often better than a thousand words, take a look, you judge for yourself. Congratulation again Gustavo!!!
