Why rent a metal detector when you can hire a metal detecting specialist, most people buy or rent and metal detector to find their lost ring. When they do not find it, out of desperation they call me for help. When I find it they ask me why did you find it and we couldn’t? I have close to 50 years experience in metal detecting, the equipment is only as good as the person using it. If you’ve never used a Metal Detector it’s not as easy as one would think, there’s a lot more to it than just swing the loop.
This ring was lost under a patio in loose rocks and leaves, the young man went under there for a little while but cannot find it. When I got there I search the outside edges of the patio and then I took my search under the patio. After a short time I got a signal my hand held pin pointer and found his ring under some rocks and leaves. It’s amazing how these rings disappear from sight and find a hiding place where people can’t see it.

I received a text message from a young lady who said she lost her engagement ring in the water at Trout Lake, this lake was only 20 minutes from my location and I just got off of work so I went to meet her at the lake. When we met at the lake it was just after 9 PM and it was the longest day of the year so I knew if I got in the water quickly I’d be able to record this search with the light we had left. I also decided to take a silver ring with me as I knew her ring was silver with gold, just a fake her out when I did find it. She went on to tell me it was in waist deep water and she only lost it one hour before I got there so I was very confident this ring would be found quickly.
I asked her how she heard about TheRingFinders and she told me the lifeguards gave her the number… I got into the water and within 20 minutes I found her beautiful custom Silver & Gold engagement ring. I faked her out with my silver ring and then presented her with her ring, I love surprising people and seeing the reaction!

Could you imagine how this young man felt when he lost a very special gift that his father gave him, it was a gold Cartier ring. He took it off when he went swimming and put it in his pant pocket when he got out of the water and dried off he put his pants back on, when he got home he realized his ring was missing.
He returned to the beach early in the morning and saw three people metal detecting, he asked all of them if they could help and they search the area but could not find the ring. He then found TheRingFinders online and gave me a call the next day. I listen to a story and the fact that people were already searching for the ring made me believe it could’ve already been found as a lot of people metal detector the beach during the night and in the early morning hours. I explained to Alex that someone may have already found it but what I would do is come out and search just for the closure aspect of it.
I arrive to the beach approximately 24 hours after the ring was lost at around 9 PM the beach was still full of people so I could not swing a detector, I sat and waited for a while as the area starting to clear off I started to grid search, a lady came running up to me crying and asking for help, she lost a very special bracelet, I found that within a minute or two and continued on to my search for the lost gold Cartier ring.
I searched about 75% of the area but still had 25% or more to search but too many people were still showing up to the beach so I went back to my car and slept for a little while when I woke up it was late in the evening close to 2 am in the morning and hardly anybody was on the beach. I began my search and after 30 minutes to my surprise I found his beautiful gold ring!
I got a to say I was surprised! I think he will be when I show it to him later on in the week. I decided to text him and tell him that I couldn’t search as much of the beach as I needed to because of the crowds of people. I told him I’m going to go back in the middle of the week to continue my search. He agreed to meet me Wednesday afternoon and that’s when I was going to surprise him with his ring.
I love hearing the stories of what these items mean to people and I’m so honoured to be able to help continue this beautiful story for this young man.

This young man lost a very special silver pendant at Jericho Beach, three days later he reaches out for help. We made arrangements to meet at the beach unfortunately it would have to be after I finished work, so we set up a time for 1:30 AM to search for the silver pendant.
After meeting Vinny and his sister and her boyfriend in the early hours of the morning we walked along the beach to the area where he lost his pendant. After removing a lot of trash in the area I begin my search for almost two hours, after cleaning out all the target signals except for one big iron target, I decided to move all the sand away from the Iron and that was a good thing as Murphy’s Law would have it… I found his pendant which was right on top of the iron target.
Close to 3:30 AM I was able to surprise Vinny with his cherished silver pendant…

I was at the beach metal detecting when I got a text message at 6:00 AM asking for help to find a lost ring. I replied quickly and called to ask about the search. He went on to tell me that he had lost his wedding band the night before, after a soccer game, He and his teammates spent an hour searching for it in the grass but couldn’t find it.
He was thinking of taking the day off of work to meet me there, I told him not to do as I felt the ring would still be there, because he and his teammates couldn’t find it last night after the game so I wasn’t worried about anybody else finding it.
We arrange to meet at 5:30 PM that day, I arrived at 5 PM and waited in the shade until we met. A nice young man name Alex and his wife Kaushal met me at the park and showed me the area where they believe the ring was lost. This search took a matter of 5-10 minutes before I found his beautiful custom made wedding band.
Even though his wife and wonderful mother-in-law said it was no big deal and that they could buy another one and redo their vowels, I’m sure they said that so he’d not be so upset and to rest his mind, because when I found it Kaushal became emotional showing Alex and me that it really did mean something to have it found…

Beverley and I were working on a movie set in Vancouver, close to the end of a 12 1/2 hour day I received a call from a young lady who had lost her beautiful engagement ring at UBC rugby field. She went on to tell me she was playing baseball with her friends and believe she had lost her engagement ring in one or two areas of the field. The great thing about this was it was only 15 minutes away from where we were working in Vancouver so it was quick to get there as the sun was setting. We meet the young couple at the field and they show us the area where they believe the ring could’ve came off, the first area was where she was putting suntan lotion on, the second area was where she had taken her glove on and off.
I decided to go for the area where she had put on suntan lotion on and took off her ring. I started my grid search and could tell the grass was very short hard to hide a ring, I told her and showed her examples of how the ring would probably sit up on this grass and someone may have found it. After six gridlines we started thinking of the other location because she had told me the grass was much longer. However I did not want to stop searching until I completed my grid and another line later into my grid I saw the ring on top of the grass. I love my job I really do it’s awesome to see how happy you can make a complete stranger by finding something as we all know, is so sentimental.

I received voice message in regards to a lost gold and platinum ring at a golf course, I replied and the next day Stephen called to discuss the search. I have my typical questions I would ask to understand what my chances would be to find the ring.
Steve told me that he had bought a metal detector off of Amazon and search but cannot find it, this is very typical as I’ve had many people over the years buy or rent to metal detectors without finding the ring and I come in and find it in minutes, only because I’ve had many many years of experience with this type of equipment and these types of searches.
When I met Stephen at the golf course he pulled out a metal detector and let me have a look, it wasn’t a very expensive detector but I was surprised at how well it responded to my test ring. I felt if he got over the area he should’ve found it with this machine.
He show me the very small area where he took off both of his rings and placed them on his jacket on a bench nearby where he was practising his putting. He was certain they fell off his jacket when he grabbed his jacket forgetting the rings were on top. He found his signet ring but could not find his wedding band.
I began my search but had a couple obstacles in the way what I believe was the sprinkler turn off valve that caused a lot of interference with my detector even at low sensitivity. I search the area front and back with no success. I even went around the water caps with my fingers to make sure it wasn’t wedged knowing I couldn’t use my metal detector that close to it.
After exhausting the search area I focussed on where I could not use my metal detector, I went very slowly around the water caps got a broken signal that looked remotely similar to what I was looking for on my visual display, I bent down with my pin pointer and spotted his beautiful gold and platinum ring in a deep grass a foot away from the trouble zone.

It was a busy Sunday, my first search was for 3 1/2 hours and no success walking over two kilometres looking for a lost wedding band for a young man. The next day I saw it posted on craigslist and I contacted him to let him know someone had found it and said that they found it two days before I started the search. I felt very happy that his ring was found and returned, then I drove to Chilliwack to find a ring in the backyard (5 minute search) and then on the way home I stopped off at Crescent Beach were a young lady’s mother contacted me in regards to her daughter losing three very precious rings that were gifts from her great grandmother, grandmother, and her mother.
She went on to tell me the rings were lost two days prior to her calling me, so I knew it could be a bit of a long shot due to how many people search these beaches in the summertime. We met at around 8 PM at the beach and talks about the search area, the young lady told me that they were playing volleyball and throwing a football. She also told me she took off all three rings and gave it to a friend to put in his pocket so she would not lose them. Playing volleyball they did not have a net and we’re just passing it around so no real reason for the rings to jump out of the pocket. Also it was short grass so most likely I would have spotted at least one ring. After 30 minutes on the grass I moved the search to the sandy part of the beach where they were throwing the football. She remembered her friend had fallen to the ground a couple of times trying to catch the pass.
This was my »hot area » as diving for the ball and landing on the sand would definitely cause rings to fall out of a pocket. After approximately 30 minutes of grid searching the area it wasn’t looking good for success, until I’m close to my last grid search line I popped up one of the rings!!!
I now gnu the chances of finding the other two were extremely high in that approximate area and I was right! Will you see here on my post and my videos are smiles and recoveries, when you don’t see is the many times I go out searching for rings and I’m not successful. Most times it’s because people did not lose the ring where they thought they lost it, they will call me the next day or two sometimes a month or two later and tell me where they found it in their house or in their car. In all my years I’ve only had one search where I missed the ring and the people found it themselves. I’m only human I can make mistakes too.
The connection to these rings were very powerful, they were her a gift from her grand mother, her great grandmother, and her mothers gold rings, handed down to her to continue the story and hopefully one day pass on to her daughter or son. I felt honoured to be able to help find and help continue the stories of these beautiful rings.

I received a call the other day from a young man who said his wife had lost her diamond wedding band in their backyard while she was suntanning. I was already on a long search for a lost ring in Richmond, I told him when I wrap this up I would give him a call. Three hours later I phoned John to discuss the search in his backyard, I found out he lived in Chilliwack which is about two hour drive from my location.
Knowing the ring was lost in the backyard I was confident I would find it, however I have been fooled before, some searches you think are going to be easy turn out to be the hardest. When I made it to his place., John greeted me and show me the area his wife was suntanning, it wasn’t a very big backyard and I knew in the back of my mind that it could be a fast recovery. John told me that his wife put both of her rings in a book as a bookmark while she was suntanning and reading, somehow the wedding band fell out of the book and into the grass.
John and his wife felt the ring could be at the last spot she was tanning, they spent many hours on their hands and knees searching the grass, but no it wasn’t there. I extended the search out and back around the corner and found her beautiful diamond wedding band just inches beneath the grass, but not visible. These rings find ways to hide so easily and make it so hard for people to find without the use of a proper metal detector and an experienced operator.

Yesterday late afternoon, I received a call from a young lady by the name of Virginia, she told me that she had lost her diamond ring that was a gift handed down from her great great grandmother. She went on to tell me that she rode her bike to the park to enjoy her lunch break, that’s where she lost her ring. Virginia told me she would be off work at 5:30 pm and would meet me at the park at 5:45 pm, I got there early to ensure I could find parking as it’s right beside a popular beach. I met Virginia at 5:45 pm and she went on to tell me the story of how she lost her ring, she had taken it off to apply suntan lotion to her self and place it on the towel that she was sitting on. You can imagine what happens next, it’s a very common thing for people to forget, stand up, and lift up the towel. She did not realize she had lost her ring until she got back to work a few hours later. She went back to search the area but cannot find it in the long grass and daisies not to mentioned that it’s very hard to locate the exact spot where she had the lunch.
She had taken some photos during lunch and showed it to me, we could tell there was daisies in front of her towel so I started my search and within 30 minutes I located her beautiful diamond ring that was buried beneath the grass. When people are not exactly sure where they may have lost the ring but having good idea it just takes time to slowly grid search and find it, because we know it is there somewhere.
