Happy ending to a memorable holiday at the lake

Chris and Christi were celebrating Father’s Day at Island Lake State Park.  The whole family was out in the water at Spring Mill Pond enjoying the sun, the water, and the record 90 plus degree heat.  It was a perfect summer day until Chris noticed his wedding band was missing.  Pictures taken just minutes earlier confirmed the ring had been lost in the lake, so the family along with other beach goers looked frantically while slowly losing hope.   One of Chris’s daughters asked her phone for help and theRingfinder web site came up with my phone number.  I was able to come immediately, it was early evening, and the lake was still crowded with swimmers.   With the light starting to fade and park closing in two hours, I knew I had to be quick.  Chris and daughter Carly marked the area boundaries and Christi I started making 50 yard passes in 3 – 4 foot deep water.  Everybody was cold, and we took turns diving with the scoop.  An hour later, after five passes across the swimming area turned up only a few coins, I got a great signal in about 4 feet of water.  Christi held the metal detector and I was able to scoop up the ring.  A happy ending and a super Father’s Day chapter added to this family’s album.

Lost Platinum Wedding Recovered in Towson, Maryland!

Early last month I was contacted by Rodney. I was able to help him recover his lost wedding band back in 2014. Unfortunately he was in need of my assistance once again. He had lost the same ring except this time it was lost in a different area and under different circumstances. The good news is we were once again successful in locating it! I’ll let Rodney tell you the story in his own words…..

 

It was a cold evening in December and I was attending a holiday party with family and friends.  I stepped outside to assist the host with some bags and in the process my wedding ring fell off into the snow in his front lawn.  I searched with flashlights that evening but was unable to locate the ring.  The next day I assumed we would have better luck and returned to my friend’s house to search for the ring as we knew it was in a very small area in the front lawn.  We crawled around the area digging and clawing for hours at the ground but were unsuccessful so I knew it was time to call in the experts.  I had used Jim’s service a few years back and was confident that if he could come out he would be able to locate the ring.  I reached out to Jim and we agreed to meet at the location a few days later.  When we arrived I explained the situation and the area where the ring was lost.  Jim got his metal detector out to begin to search.  Within a few minutes he was able to locate the ring within the area I showed him.  I am so thankful for Jim and his ability to assist with locating lost items.

Lost Platinum Ring in Crystal Cove Found and Returned

I was finishing up a search searching for someone’s lost jewelry this Sunday and I was approached by someone that said, « Can you please help us? My friend just lost his platinum wedding band ». I walked over and met Paul. He just told me that he was playing in the sand with his family and lost his platinum wedding band and that his wife was going to kill him. I swung the coil a few times in the area that he showed me and surprise! Within a minute it was in my scoop. He said, « you did that like it was nothing! » I said, « Finding it quickly was the easy part, the 30 years of practice was the hard part ». I made sure Paul was on the way home to his wife and ensure he would not be in the doghouse tonight.

Lost Wedding Ring in Sedalia MO. Found and Returned

Platinum Tuesday Return

Received a Monday evening phone call from my Relic hunting Partner Jim Crain. Jim said he had a Gentleman call his Shop trying to get info on how to operate a Garrett GTI 2500 over the phone. Through the course of the conversation Jim learned that the gentleman had lost his Wedding Ring and was getting no where with his fathers GTI. Well long story short Jim informed him that he knew someone who finds Rings. I contacted Andy and met him Tuesday morning at the location he had lost the Platinum Ring. The location was a backyard where Andy and his friends meet weekly to play Volleyball and relax. The grass was very short and Andy said that he and his friends had searched the hole field and sides but with no luck. I gathered my equipment ( Garrett AT Pro/Anderson Shaft/ NEL Tornado) and started my grid search. The area was fairly clean and with short grass you couldn’t ask for better hunting conditions. At right about one hour into the search and of course on the opposite side of the court that I started on and about 20 feet away from the court… BINGO  at a steady 54 VDI  the ring had been stepped on and pressed down into the ground. it was only visible from directly above.  And there we have it sports fans one very Happy Andy Schultze of Bryant Motors in Sedalia MO reunited with his lost Treasure

Lost Platinum Ring Redington Beach

August 4th, Sean Lelchuk found theringfinders.com website and contacted Tom Jones with the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club asking for help finding his platinum wedding band he had lost in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico that afternoon. Tom quickly called several volunteer members of the club and organized a hunt for the following morning at 8:00am.

The next morning the group met at the beach behind the resort where Sean was staying. After 45 minutes of searching the water and the wet sand the ring was located. The group came out of the water and the ring and Sean’s smile were returned.

Lost Platinum Ring Found! — Castle Rock Lake, Wisconsin

Metal detecting is a skill involving inches. I’ll explain.

Castle Rock Lake is the 4nd largest body of water in the State of Wisconsin. It boasts some 13,955 acres and 60 miles of shoreline. By comparison, Mike Ruetz, of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, lost his platinum wedding ring in its waters. The ring does not cover 1 square inch. And if positioned vertically, it covers even less area.

But Mike knew approximately where his ring went missing, within a few hundred square feet that is. So it was a matter of eliminating inches, of ruling out where his ring did not exist.

My son, Scott, joined me as we systematically searched the island sandbar where Mike’s ring went missing. Holiday boaters love to anchor and hang out at this spot. How do I know this? Well, Mike told me so. But the metal-detecting evidence speaks with even more authority. Between us, we extracted and properly disposed of 69 beer caps and 59 aluminum pull-tabs from the sandbar—sad evidence of disregard by some for our precious Wisconsin lakes.

But at last, Mike’s ring found itself cradled in Scott’s stainless-steel sieve. A date, clearly inscribed on the ring’s inside band, 5-29-2010, confirmed one very happy owner’s wedding day!

Lost Beautiful Platinum Ring Recovered & Reunited in Santa Cruz . . .!

A call came in later in the evening on Wednesday from a man stating that his wife had lost her platinum band at a popular local beach. (He had been referred to The Ring Finders and me, from a friend in Minnesota who had used the service there with great results !) I had maybe an hour left of light but I prepared for that. I grabbed my Whites MXT Pro with a backlight, hooked up the 10″ D2 coil, grabbed my headlamp  and I was geared up for the hunt. I was anxious to get there asap so I could get some good visual points of reference from the owner while there was still light. I was prepared for a long, tough battle. I explained the difficulties to the owner beforehand and told her that I would hunt as long as possible that evening/night and come back the next day after work if nescessary. She was looking despondent and I was determined to come through no matter what it took. The ring composition combined with the fact that it was carved through in the design, had stones and it was a ladies band (usually smaller) all added up to a target that could potentially read very low conductivity . . . possibly even signaling down in the iron range. This did not bode well for a hunt on a popular beach where campfires are allowed. . . I started the search. Now I don’t know if the Universe was feeling generous or if I had just earned it but 15′ in from the start of my search (which I began about 10′ outside the most likely spot) I hit my first signal, a solid 20 VDI on the MXT Pro and 3-4″ down. I slowly dug into the sand, spreading it aside when the gorgeous platinum band poked out. It was stunning, a piece of art really . . like a sculpture. I could not believe my good fortune but I kept my composure as I asked the owner if she could come over and answer a quick question for me. I pointed at the partially uncovered ring down in

the hole in the sand and I asked her if her ring looked anything like that one. After a few moments, recognition suddenly spread across her face as she yelled out « You found it . . ! ! » Indeed I had. The small group adjacent to the hunt broke out in cheers and as I watched the ecstatic couple (and the sunset) I enjoyed the reward that only someone who has gone through it can understand. .  . . unreal !

Lost… 3 Platinum Rings at Chesterman Beach Vancouver Island…Found

I received a call from the Concierge at the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino, Vancouver Island.  He asked if I could help search for 3 platinum rings that were tossed into the ocean at Chesterman Beach, beside their inn.

He tells me that 3 days past from the time the young lady from London England tossed her rings into the ocean.  He helped the couple by getting them a metal detector so they could search the next morning for the rings.

The coupled searched most of the day but had no luck in finding the rings.  They were leaving the next day to New York, they would leave Tofino broken hearted!

After the couple left to New York,  the Concierge (Damien) began to search the internet to see if he could locate someone to help find those 3 lost rings.

This is where I come into play,  he finds TheRingFinders.com online, he tells me the story of the lady and her lost rings. I know I have to act fast as the waves on that beach can get very big in the winter time and that could pound the rings deep into the sand, beyond the reach of a detector.

My wife who hasn’t picked up a detector since we were hunting in the UK (Spoiled) many years ago, wanted to come and help. This was great because she could help grid search and we could knock it out fast,  we needed to because of the tides.

Close to 4 hours and only a couple of  trash targets I got a good signal.  I dug down with my sand scoop and placed the lump of sand on the beach and with my headlight I could see the sparkle of diamonds!

I found the platinum diamond engagement ring! I yelled out to Beverley and she came running, we were so happy and we called Trish in New York to tell them the good news.

We regained our composure and Beverley started to do a corkscrew grid search where I found the ring and within minutes she got a signal 5 yards away and scooped up the platinum wedding band…

This was the tough one because it was so small and thin and it was already 4-5 inches down,  good find by Beverley!

Well we were excited and hopeful that we would find the 3rd ring and within 5 minutes and about 15 yards away I found the Aquamarine platinum ring…

We were so happy to find all 3 rings and excited to email the pictures of our discovery to Trish & James.  We got a call early the next morning and Trish & James were happy, happy!

Things happen in our lives that make us do funny things that we regret… That being said the rings have more memories now and the last memory was how good it felt to get them back!

We started back to Vancouver and as luck would have it we got stuck in traffic for hours due to snow storms and white outs.  We did make it to the ferry and dropped the rings off to Trish’s friends in West Vancouver who will be going to London in a weeks time…

Beverley and I had a great time on this search and the Hero in all of this , in our opinion,  is the Concierge at the Wickaninnish Inn (Damien) Because if he hadn’t found The Ring Finders Directory, the rings would be lost forever!

I love my job! I Love my Wife!
