Jack called last night stating he had been at the beach earlier in the day, and lost his wedding ring in the sand. He had been there with his dogs, and took his ring off to put on sunscreen. Leaving his ring on his towel, he had forgotten about it until after he had left for the day. He went back as soon as he knew it was gone, but was unable to find it. Finding my number on The Ring Finders site he called, and we arranged to meet back at the beach, so he could show me where he had been sitting to narrow down the search area. Calling right away helped insure a recovery, because TIME is the enemy of a successful search, so if you have lost something call right away.

When we arrived at the beach, we met up, and Jack took me down to the area of the loss. I then began my litany of questions in order to narrow down the search area. After finding out all the information I needed, I began my search, which after about 2 minutes, resulted in a successful search. The questions help us to help you, so I am thankful when the person I am trying to help is patient while I ask. Anyway, I got a good signal, scooped, and in my scoop was a gold ring, which I held up, and asked Jack if he recognized. He looked at it and was able to read an identifying inscription on the inside of the band. He was very happy as he and his wife were getting ready to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. A great night’s sleep was ahead for sure!

I awoke and found I had received an email from Leah. She had been at the beach the day before, when while in the water, she was struck by a wave, and knocked down. When she arose, she realized her ring was gone. Noticing the time the email was sent (12:17 AM), I could tell this was a distraught appeal for help. She told how this was her Grandmother’s wedding ring, a Grandmother I found out later, had passed away. This was a reminder of her Grandmother that she carried with her daily, so it turned out to be a great loss. Leah was not able to meet me at the beach to show me where to look, but had given some information in her email, and also sent me a Google Earth picture with an outline showing the loss area. I went at the earliest low tide that day.

I arrived at the beach, and began my search at one end of the area pictured, and began my grid. I continued my search, with very few targets, for about 1 1/2 hours, with no ring. I finished what I thought was the limit for that direction, and decided to go back to my starting point, and worked the other direction. I made about 4 new passes when that sweet sound came through the head phones, loud and clear. I dug, and in the pile on the edge of the sand was a nice glimmer of gold. I reached down, and picked it out, and it was Leah’s ring. I emailed her right away with excitement, and we arranged to meet the next day make the return. When we met, her mom was with her, and explained the importance the ring to Leah, and how devastated she was when it was lost. Leah was very happy when I gave it back, and her smile says it all!

Leah sent the following testimonial:

After I lost the ring, I just kept telling myself that it’s okay and it’s just a ring. But it kept bothering me and I felt so sad as if I lost someone. I lost the ring in the afternoon and I was still up and crying about it past midnight. I really couldn’t believe that I had just lost something so important me so fast. At one moment I was having fun with my friends splashing in the shallow waves (and making sure my ring was on and safe). The next minute later, I was trying to get up from being hit with a scary wave and then I realized my ring was gone.

I already felt much better after contacting Steve. Knowing that someone would still be searching for the ring, comforted me and I had hope! Once the ring was found, I literally felt “in balance” again. The ring was my late grandma’s and wearing it everyday for over three years now has always kept me tied to her. Having it back felt like I had a part of my grandma with me again.

Steve was incredibly kind when we met each other. His dedication and passion really meant a lot to me, he truly cares about his work!! I will always remember this story and Steve!

Thank you Steve!!!!
Leah

Lit Papi (Stage Name) called me last night explaining that he lost his girlfriend’s ring at the beach. I had just finished dinner, poured myself a cup of coffee, and let him know I would be on my way.

When I arrived Lit Papi met me and showed me where they had been sitting and explained what happened. The area was not large, so I knew this would be a quick search. I searched on the one side of the area, finding only a nickel. I then began in the other direction, when after one pass, I got a good signal, put in the scoop, which now had the ring inside. He was happy to be able to get his girlfriend’s ring back. They would both sleep well now, I was sure.

I got a call from Alessandra, she had lost her ring in the sand at the beach. She had been sitting on her towel when a bee landed on her, she began swatting at it to make it fly away, and got up to flee the ornery critter. After the commotion she looked to see that the ring she had been given for graduation was gone. She had not left the area, so I told her I would be right over to conduct the search.

When I got to the beach, I walked out to where she said she would be, and as soon as she saw me began to wave me over. She then proceeded to show me what had happened, and how she ran. She was very helpful with the information she provided. I began my search, and after about 5 passes, I had her ring back on her finger. She was too young to grant me permission to use her image here, so you get me this time, as she agreed to take my picture. It was a pleasure to make her day!

Ana contacted me after she had lost her ring in the water at the beach. She had gone into the water, when a wave hit her, knocked her down, and her ring came off only to disappear into the wet sand. It was a ring her father had given her, so it meant a lot to her. When she contacted me the tide was coming in, and the best search opportunity would be the next low tide, so we arranged to meet at the beach the next morning.

When we met at the beach, Ana walked me out to the area of the loss, and showed me what had happened. I then got my equipment, set up and began my search. I was going into the water to make sure I was able to do a thorough search. I made about 20 passes, finding little, but some nails, and a few coins, until I got a good solid signal, I scooped and pulled out a nice gold ring which I held up for Ana, who was very surprised to see it again. It was so great to restore her joy!

I was in a meeting when Patrick called me about a search for his wife’s wedding ring. They were out celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary the day before, when with a flip of the wrist her ring flew off of her hand, and into the soft sand to disappear. After some futile searching they went home, I am sure thinking this token of their love was gone forever. The next day Patrick found my number on The Ring Finders web site, and gave me a call. I told him that I would be able to do the search in the evening because of the meeting. He was not going to be able to meet me there, but gave some pictures of where the loss occurred, as well as a picture of what the ring looked like, and I told him I would let know if I was able to find the ring.

I got to the beach, and because of the pictures Patrick provided, was able to find the exact area of the loss. I set up and began my search. I found a few pieces of trash metal like tin foil and bottle caps. On my 4th pass I got a good signal, and dug. In my scoop was a real nice gold and diamond ring, but when I looked closer, I realized it was different than the picture he had sent to me, so I continued to search the area looking for his wife’s ring. I finished the search, and then called Patrick to let him know what had happened. I let him know I had found a ring, but not like picture he had sent me. He told me that he had found a picture on the internet of what he thought the ring looked like, and would ask his wife if she had a picture, and would send it to me. When I received the picture I realized that I had found the right ring, and let him know we had success. We arranged to meet the next day for the return. It was nice meeting them and being able to give this meaningful item back to them, and see their joy.

I got a call from Francisco letting me know he had lost his car keys in the sand at the beach, and was hoping I could help. There was no way for him to get home, so I let him know that I would leave immediately to do a search for him.

When I got to the area we met, and Francisco and his girlfriend took me out to the spot they believed the keys to have been lost. I began my grid, and made quite a few passes with the finding of a lot of trash metal, but no keys. They then motioned me over to another area, thinking the keys might have been lost there. I began a new search, and during the first pass, got a solid signal, scooped the sand, and had his keys in my hand. I held them up for him to see, and he being so happy to have them back, came over and gave me a big hug. It was so nice to be able to help!

Matt called the other day asking for help. He had been at the beach, and after applying sunscreen, went into the water. He was in about 3 feet of water when he felt his wedding ring come off of his finger. I checked, and let him know that to perform a thorough search, I would have to go at the next lowest tide, and let him know when I would be there. Matt sent me a Google Earth shot with a circled area to search, which was a great help.

I got to the beach and began my search, even though Matt was unable to be there. The lack of signals made it a virtual desert of things to find. I searched the wet slope first with only a bottle cap to show for it. I then went into the water, and on my first pass got a deep rotten pot metal earring. I continued in the line of the search, and got another deep signal. It took 4 or 5 scoops to get the item, when after the sand was washed out proved to be Matt’s ring. Matt was a bit camera shy (so you get me), but very happy, after I returned his ring. A fun day!

Matt sent the following testimonial:

Steve,

Thanks a million for finding my lost wedding band. I still cannot believe that you were able to locate it (buried under sand, in the water).

Please pass this message along to the folks who run the Ring Finders website, as you provide a very important service, for which I’m eternally grateful.

Sincerely,

Matt

I got a call from Bella yesterday about the loss of her ring in the sand of the beach. Her mother had given her the ring two years prior, and it had a lot of sentimental value to her. She had put it in her bag, and sometime while removing things from the bag the ring fell out into the thick soft sand, and disappeared. I told her I would be there as soon as possible.

When I got to the beach, I walked out and found Bella and her friend. They showed me where they believed the ring fell out of the bag, and I could see the drag marks in the sand where they had been searching for it. I turned on the detector, and began my search. I found one piece of scrap metal, and then a couple of passes more, got a good clear signal, dug, and in the scoop was Bella’s ring which I immediately held up for her. She came right over very happy, and I dropped the ring in her hand. She seemed very relieved that I was able to find this gift from her mother. A great day!

I got a call from Liz’s boyfriend last night about 9:30 PM regarding a ring she lost at the beach earlier. She had been down on the sand enjoying the cool of the evening after a hot day, and also enjoying the bioluminesence show that we have been experiencing lately. After we talked, he had her call me to explain the loss and answer some questions she had regarding our service. After a few minutes of discussion we agreed to meet at the beach as soon as I could get there.

I got to the area at about 10:00 PM, and met Liz and her father, and they took me out to where they remembered being when they were out earlier. She showed me what had happened, that with a flip of the wrist the ring was gone. She had a good idea of where it landed, but was unable to find it, even though she diligently searched for it. I turned on the detector, and in two passes got a good clean signal, and dug. I seemed to move the item around, so I had to scoop a couple more times. In the bottom of the scoop was a real cool looking gold ring with a topaz stone. She was very excited to know that it was found, and it was nice to know that she was going to sleep well last night.
