Kartik had lost his ring at the beach, and needed help. He called and we made arrangements to meet there to conduct the search.

When I got there Kartik had the general idea of the area the ring was lost in, and described the conditions of how it was lost. I began my search which did not take long, and was able to reunite him with what he felt he had lost forever. A great day.

Neda lost her Apple Watch at the beach the day before she contacted me. She was wondering if I could help her. I asked if it was still showing on the « lost » app, and she said it was. It was night time so I asked if she could meet me at the beach to show me where she had been, but she was unable to do so. She said she could meet in two more days, and I knew that would be too long, so I asked if she could send me a screen shot of the area of the loss with a circle drawn showing where she had been. She said she could, so I left right away.

When I got to area, I needed a little more information to narrow down the search which Neda was able to provide. After about 5 minutes I found her watch in the darkness of the night, and let her know right away. We met the next day at a local coffee shop so I could return her watch, and she was very grateful. It truly makes my day to be able to help people like Neda.

Eddie called me in the morning about doing a search for him. He had gone to the beach in the morning for a swim, and wanting to be sure that no one stole his wallet, keys, and cell phone, he wrapped them up in a plastic bag, and buried them in the sand beneath his towel. When he was finished swimming, he picked up his towel, and went back to his car. It was then he realized the mistake of not getting his package out of the sand. We arranged so that I could get there as quickly as I could.

When I arrived I found Eddie, and he showed me the area. The problem for him was that everything looked the same, and the sand was expansive. He wasn’t exactly sure of where he had been, so I began where he had been searching himself. He thought it might have been further south, so I continued my slow grid in that direction making sure I covered every inch of sand. After about 2 hours, and covering close to 100 feet of sand there was no recovery, just a lot of foil and bottle caps. Eddie was losing hope, but I reassured him that because he stayed in the area his stuff was still there, we just had to find it. So I got back to my starting point, and began searching in the other direction, and after about 3 passes, I got another loud bottle cap sound, dug, and there in the sand was a white plastic bag full of Eddie’s belongings. He saw the bag as soon as it showed, and came running over. He hugged me about 3 times, and was overwhelmed with happiness. Then he told me that he is a contractor by trade, and that his phone has all of his business in it. If he had lost his phone his business would have been hurt tremendously. It was a great pleasure to have been able to help Eddie.

Chaniyah contacted me about a lost ring at the beach. She had lost it while playing volleyball, and the sand swallowed it up. We agreed to meet as soon as we could get to the area to do the search.

I got to the beach a little ahead of Chaniyah, and saw that there were some people on the court in question. When she got there we went out to the court, and I asked if the players would be bothered if I looked around the outside of the court while they were playing, and they said it would be fine. What was real nice was that as I searched they decided to move to next court over which allowed me access to the whole area. It was a good thing because after about 10 minutes of searching inside the lines I found her ring. Chaniyah told me that her mother had given her that ring with special Biblical scripture engraved inside, so it meant a lot to have it back. Great smile!

Adonys contacted me hoping I could help in finding his wife’s lost engagement ring. She had been in the back yard throwing a ball when the ring came off. She knew when it happened, and the direction it came off, but in an instance it vanished. She and Adonys spent hours trying to find it with no ring. We arranged for me to come out the next day.

I arrived in the morning, and they led me out to the back yard which happened to be quite small. The problem was the grass, it was thick and tall except for the part Adonys had mowed which made me fear for the ring, thinking it might have been caught up by the mower, and ruined. I got my detector out, and began. Immediately I had a problem with interference, so I switched detectors to see if I could eliminate the static. That worked. I turned the detector on, swung twice, got a signal, put the pin pointer in and found the ring, all in about 15 seconds. They were flabbergasted that it was found so quickly, but very happy to see it again. Adonys had designed the ring himself to be crafted by a jeweler, so this was a special recovery for sure.

It was late in the day when Jaisal called. He had been surfing at the beach that day, and buried his keys after placing them in a plastic bag, so they would not be picked up off of his towel. What happened though was that when he left, he forgot to dig the keys out of the sand and was unable to find them after he went back. I let him know I would be there as soon as I could, and was on my way.

When I got there we found each other, it was dark now. Jaisal took me out to the area he believed he had been earlier (it is hard in the dark to remember exactly). He knew he had been close to the drop off, so I began to follow him as he went along the way he thought he might have been if it wasn’t where he showed me. After working with no signal, I had gone about 30 feet, and got a good signal. I dug, and immediately Jaisal saw the plastic bag, reached down, and had his keys in hand. He was happy because it was a rental car, and it was late in the night. Happy to get him back home.

Jim called, he had lost his ring in the yard, and after much time looking, he then went online and found the Ring Finders. We arranged a time for the search, and I went as soon as that time arrived.

When I got there Jim showed me the area. There was a walkway, and shrubs surrounding it. I asked how the loss occurred, and after him showing me I began the search. It was hard to use the detector because of the shrubs, but I was able to work under them with a little effort, It took about 10 minutes, and then I received a nice tone in the head phones, got the pin  pointer out, and narrowed down the search. There it was covered by some undergrowth. I picked it up and showed Jim. He was happy to have it back. Another winning day.

Mez called early in the morning. She had been at the beach the night before, lost her car key in the sand, and after much frantic looking, was unable to find it. She asked if I could help, and I let her know that I could be there in a short amount of time to do a search for her.

When I got to the beach we found each other quickly, and Mez explained what had happened. The problem was that at the time of the loss it was dark, and trying to recreate where a person was exactly is very hard to do. She showed me the area, and it was quite large for metal detecting because of the slow process. Also the County beach cleaning machine was working the area. Wisely she stopped the operator to let him know I was coming, so he dumped in the area to insure I could search what he had cleaned. I searched all of what she had shown me for about 1 1/2 hours, and the dump piles finding a lot of metal trash, but not the key. So I told her I would keep searching going up the beach further working my way towards the beach entry. She also was searching the sand above me as I was working by dragging her feet through the sand. I continued finding tin foil, bottle caps, and pull tabs, but no key. Mez was about 25 to 30 feet above me searching when she let out a shout, and held the key up for me to see. She was so happy to find it. Sometimes what we do in our process is eliminate an area allowing the person and ourselves to think and search outside of the box. Another win!

It was the Friday before Memorial Day that Andres contacted me. He told me that he had lost his wedding ring while throwing a football to his son in the water at the beach. It had been 5 days, and I let him know that the possibility of a recovery had diminished because of the time involved, but let him also know that there was always hope. We decided to do a search that day, and arranged to meet at the location.

When we got there Andres took me out to the location of the loss, and explained what had happened. I began my search, working in and out of the water, up and down the slope. The problem was that the tide was coming in and pushing me up the slope, and limiting the area I could search. I searched for a couple of hours, but was unable to find his ring. I explained this to him, but told him that I would return the next day as the tide was going down, to search again, which I could see pleased him.

I got back to the beach Saturday morning as the tide was lowering, but Andres was unable to be there. I began my search again working way down the slope and into the water, gradually working my way up again. After about two hours in, and many pieces of metal trash, I received another signal to dig, this time it was Andres ring. I was excited; six days later, and it was still there. I sent him a text with the good news and a picture of the ring, and he replied that when he saw it tears came to his eyes. He came to the beach to get his ring back and we talked. He said you don’t know what this means to me, and then he told me his story. Andres is a Marine who served during the Gulf War. He recently lost his mother, his son just had a life threatening head injury, and he himself just had a life threatening and possibly debilitating medical emergency, then to top it all off he loses his wedding ring of 17 years. He got to wondering if things were going to get any worse, then I recovered his ring, and hope returned. I felt so honored to be the one to reignite the fire of hope in his heart, and to capture that great smile of a Marine veteran right before the day honoring those who served before us.

… I received a early morning text asking help to find three rings lost the day before. Lisa told me that the rings were set on the towel while putting on sunscreen. She didn’t realize them missing until they were driving home.

The next morning Lisa and her husband went back to the beach with a metal detector they purchased at a sporting goods store. Knowing they didn’t have any experience with a metal detector. They called me to ask for help. I asked them to claim the area so nobody set up in the search site.

I met them on the beach after they spent an hour with the metal detector none of the rings showed up. We were lucky that the beach cleaning machines had not worked the beach that morning.

I set up my machine knowing we had three targets which made the odds of finding the lost rings better. I didn’t start in the best area, but I did get a single signal as I narrowed down the search location. Everyone was starting to lose nope. Then I got a single signal with no other signals near it. One dig with the sand scoop prove to be a yellow gold Cartier Love ring. I called Lisa over to claim the ring as I swung my detector coil for another signal. No signal.

When I looked back in my scoop, there were two white gold rings hiding in the silver colored stainless steel scoop. Amazing and another learning experience for me. They must have been laying together or maybe the thicker yellow gold ring dominated the signal. The most important fact was these irreplaceable sentimental rings were saved and back where they belong.

It’s always a gamble to try a beach search after days have past on our Southern California beaches especially on the dry sand towel areas. I’ve learned that we can’t give up. Part of the search process is to confirm that the lost item is not there. I try to give people that ask for my help that information so they understand how it works. I use the best metal detectors and have experience using them. If the item isn’t there, I can’t find it, but in most cases I can verify it’s not there. Which helps people to eliminate an area. Finding lost items is a process of elimination..
