I got a call from a client Ron who was very upset about visiting a neighbors house and having his fiancé loose a Platinum Diamond engagement ring . He asked me if I could come over to Coral Springs to find his Platinum ring. He stated that he had been searching for it since Christmas Day with metal detectors . I came over about 0900 the next day. He kept asking me whether it flew off his fiancés finger into a nearby lake.. I really thought 20 feet was too far away . I began searching and after a few targets like the sprinkler system. I finally got the  prize target. He was soooo Happy .. and I felt very good also. What a good Christmas present although a little bit late.

Mia’s Diamond Stud Earring – Lost, Found, Returned in Kerrville, Texas

I received a message from Mia requesting help in finding her lost diamond stud earring. Mia explained that she was positive she lost her earing in the living room or bedroom of her home. She said that she had gone through all her clothes and bedding and in the living room she had even vacuumed the rug (and checked the vacuum canister). She had not found the earring but was truly clear and concise of where she thought she lost it. I knew that the size of the precious metal around the diamond would be extremely hard to detect but decided it was worth a shot anyway. My wife, Kathy, went with me to Mia’s home. Mia showed us into the living room with beautiful oak flooring. Adjoining the sofa was a 5’x8’ double shag rug. Mia said she felt that the earring might have fallen into the deep shag rug. Running my AT Pro pick up every nail in the wood flooring and checking my pro pointer with other earring yielded not sound at all. At this point I thought the only way to find the ring would be a visible search. After combing through the rug for several minutes Kathy said to turn the rug over and beat on it! Sure enough, after following my wife’s instructions there was the earring on the floor! Mia was happy to get her earring back and I was glad I followed my wife’s instructions. Lost Ring in the Snow Near Somerset, PA… Found!

Kim’s daughter lost her engagement ring in the snow while playing with their dog. She wasn’t actually sure where she had lost it, but after searching all through the house and in the trash, they concluded that it must’ve come off her hand while throwing a snowball to their dog outside. I got a call from Kim, who said she saw my success stories of ring recoveries on the internet and asked if I would come search for the ring even though I was about two hours away. She shared with me that the year has been rough for the family and was devastated that something like this had happened so close to Christmas. As she fought back tears, I reassured her that I would come out to look and do my best to recover the lost ring.

 

Julie (my wonderful girlfriend and somewhat reluctant assistant) and I made the drive to Normalville, PA, near Somerset, two days before Christmas to search Kim’s yard for the ring. After about an hour of grid searching the yard twice, I wondered if maybe Kim’s daughter had lost it somewhere in the house after all. Julie, ever so patiently waiting in the cold, told me to take another look near the steps closer to the house. I turned up the sensitivity on the machine a bit and went over to a deeper pile of snow near the steps and lo and behold, I got a faint signal. I pulled the ring out of the snow and yelled, “Hey baby, thanks!” as I held the ring up for her to see. Julie says there are times I don’t listen to her, but I’m glad I did today! Another successful ring recovery!

The Culprit

Question is: Did Laser eat my Earring and Ring?

 

Jesse called me on Thursday requesting my service to locate a missing ring and earring.  Jesse said the ring went missing about one month ago, and the earring went missing two weeks ago from his bedroom dresser table.  The only possible culprit was his six month old dog Laser!

After asking Jesse several questions like; how was Laser feeling, did he have any signs of discomfort, and was he his normal self Jesse replied that he was fine so my next question was; is Laser a free roamer on the acreage?  Jesse replied no, that he is always let out into his dog run which is huge,  about 80’ x 80’ and that his daily deposits were still frozen on the ground.  I thought to myself, “hmmm interesting”, wonder which pile the ring could be in and also the earring!

I agreed to meet up with him Saturday morning.  When I arrived at the acreage I met Jesse and Andria.  They showed me the dog run where I met Laser. Andria told me about Laser, how he is obsessive with his toys and rocks, and eats anything that a six month old dog would do. When wearing her rings he would lick her hands.  Andria was positive that he ate the ring and also her earring, as two weeks ago she had found her jewellery box on the floor in her bedroom and one of her earrings was missing.

After searching about one hour the ring was found in a nice pile in the corner of the yard.  My next question was where is the earring?  I told Jesse that I needed the other earring so that I could tune my detector to it.

I carefully searched for the earring where the ring was found but had no luck. I decided to search the other corner of the yard and knowing how hard earrings are to find I began very slowly and low scan search each inch and finally I heard a faint tone! I called Jesse over and told him “there IT IS”!   He looked but could not see because the earring was inside this pile! LOL, and again I said “this is it”!  He could not believe his eyes when we took the pile in to be washed out and there was Andria’s beautiful diamond earring!

Jesse and Andria was over the moon that her ring and earring was back where they belonged!

Lost Car Key… Found In Williamsburg, Iowa

I got a call today to search for a single lost car key. It was lost several days ago in a snowy yard. The lady had rented a detector but couldn’t find it. So she found my number today and gave me a call.

Luckily I wasn’t busy so I got my equipment together and drove over. I can see why she had trouble with a rental, there were all kinds of junk targets and interference even after turning my sensitivity down. After awhile I did come across a nice shallow target that was her key. She was very happy to have it back.

Lost Gold Diamond Woman’s Ring in Powell, OH. “FOUND”

I received an email about a lost gold diamond engagement ring in their back yard. She possibility lost her ring while raking and bagging leaves a few days before. I had a hit in two of the four bags of leaves and started with them. As the first bag was dumped out on the ground cloth, I got a hit.  It was a piece of foil trash and the same for the other bag, trash again. Continue on through the grass around the vegetation and landscaping. Finding nails and trash with each hit then got a hit for this gold item in the dirt. I show her to confirm the ring and then she was full of excitement in this was her ring. She was very happy that the ring was returned back to her. I wish this soon to be couple to have a bless long marriage.

Lost Diamond Ring in Houma, LA. – FOUND

Carrie got a call from Johnney about 9 am. Her 87 year old Mom had lost her diamond ring while working in her flower bed. With nothing going on for us at the time, we jumped in the truck and drove the 2 hours to Houma. The hunt area was pretty small, so Carrie grabbed her pin pointer to hunt the flower bed and Sid went for the detector to check the lawn around the flower bed. Carrie came up with a hit and the find within 5 minutes. Fast, but not a record for her. Needless to say Johnney and Mom were thrilled, with smiles and (even though we were not supposed to) hugs being shared. Old stories and a couple of pictures capped off our visit.

Metal Detecting a Ring Lost on the Outskirts of Calgary

Mark contacted me. Found me on Kijiji but used « TheRingfinders.com »  to make sure I was on the up and up.  He was in the backyard with his dogs and when he went back in his ring was gone. His gut instinct was that it fell off when he was throwing the ball.  When I arrived, there was lots of evidence that he had been looking for it already. A big patch of snow had been cleared. His words were, « Before I rented a detector I thought I would give you a chance. » Good choice Mark. I have had several people rent a detector, only to tell me they had no clue what the sounds meant.  I searched the area  with no luck. Then we followed the path back to the back door. I had one tone, which we looked at and moments later another. I love it when I hear the ring’s actual tone in my headphones.  We grabbed the camera for the reveal. Awesome.  Less than a year married, and just back from his honeymoon, Mark is glad to have his ring back and is planning on resizing it.

I received a call from Russ who found my contact information on the Ring Finders website. Russ’s girlfriend had lost a diamond earring in the yard of their home. She was certain that the earring fell from her ear as she was walking around outside after dark talking on her cell phone. They searched for a while with a flashlight but could not locate the earring.

I went to the home the following day and after confirming with Russ that the house and all vehicles had been thoroughly searched, I began grid sweeping the thick St Augustine grass in the area where Russ’s girlfriend thought it most likely she had dropped the earring. I made several adjustments to my Equinox as apparently this area contained a lot of junk from the fairly recent construction of the house. After about an hour of search, we expanded the search area into the second most likely area of the yard. Two hours and several additional search areas later, I had failed to recover the earring, just finding several pieces of scrap. I asked Russ to search his home and vehicles again as well as talk to his girlfriend about other possible locations to search. Russ also said that he would have his girlfriend who was not home at the time provide me with a photo of the other earring in the pair when I returned to search again in the next day or so.

Several hours after I returned home, I received a text from Russ, and you guessed it, he had found the lost earring in his home under a ledge in the shower! (For reasons that I can not include in this post I was not able to obtain a photo of the earring). Russ said that even though I didn’t find it, I brought him good luck.

Russ, thank you for allowing me to assist you in your search for your girlfriend’s earring and for rewarding me for my efforts.

Platinum wedding band lost, recovered and returned in Berwyn, PA!

Dan found me via The Ring Finders directory. He was deeply worried about losing his very sentimental platinum wedding band. He said he just celebrated his 1 year wedding anniversary and the ring was so important to him. He told me the previous Saturday he was at his niece’s wedding reception in the backyard of his brother’s house in Berwyn , PA. The reception was a big affair with a DJ and a dance floor set up in the middle of the grassy backyard. He was partying and dancing up a storm when he decided to head in the house to use the bathroom….that’s when he noticed his ring was missing. He was 100% sure it was on his finger before the party started. He and family started searching immediately both at party and next day. He finally contacted me on a Tuesday and and I agreed to start to search on Wednesday. Dan lives in NJ so he put me in touch with his brother since it was his yard I would be searching. I met his brother that afternoon in the backyard of his house…it was a 50 x 5o foot grassy yard with much of the grass compressed and still littered from the big party. In the middle of grass you could clearly see the 20×20 foot square where a wood dance floor was installed and then removed.  As you become more experienced as a Ring Finder you start to get more intuitive on where the lost ring might be when starting a search. You prioritize the most likely areas…not only based off details and circumstances of how it was actually lost but also considering the fact that many people have been looking for it for many days with just their eyes(not a metal detector). Most of the grass in backyard was very short or non-existent…if the ring was there they would have found it themselves. However, there was one area off near the dance floor where the grass was higher…if it fell there it would be difficult to find without a metal detector. Soooooo…..I started there. Bingo…I immediately got a perfect ring signal. I bent down…pushed aside the high grass to reveal Dan’s ring! I immediately texted Dan’s brother who came out and was just amazed how quickly I found it after so many people searched for hours. He, in turn, immediately called Dan to share the good news! It brings me great joy to be able to come through for people with a successful recovery!
